now more than 1,000 soldiers are working around the clock to save lives menendez brothers are hoping to be released before thanksgiving. they are planning to ask the judge in re-sentencing hearing to change their murder conviction to involuntary manslaughter. if this is approved, they would most likely be released based on time served. this push comes after los angeles county d.a. george gascon said he will seek re-sentencing for the brothers. they are currently serving two life sentences without parole for murdering their parents in 1989. and check out this wild rescue out of michigan. a hero police officer risks his life to save a woman trapped in a burning car. incredible body cam footage. shows the first responder breaking through the front windshield and pulling the 22-year-old woman from the car just before it was a completely

heart tissues we can grow in the lab. mini beating heart tissues. >> ainsley: amazing. you are the first to do. this we are the first to do this. we can grow heart tissues from any individual. this is incredibly powerful technology. allows us to grow these tissues from children with heart disease and use those models to understand the causes of their heart disease and develop potential treatment. >> ainsley: do you know what causes it? >> we do have some knowledge of the cause of childhood heart disease. in particular, we're learning more and more every day about different causes of childhood heart disease. many we do not have the answers. that's what our research with s. all about finding those answers. >> ainsley: i have a friend whose child was born with congenital heart disease. i called her before this interview and asked her is there anything you would like me to ask him. she said she was very, very sick during her pregnancy and her doctor said when her child is

born very rare like being struck lie lightning for your child to be born with this condition she wanted # me to ask you do you think that her being sick during her pregnancy could have contributed? >> it's always hard to know and, in fact, these are often the first questions that families will ask. you know, what has happened to me? why did this happen to my child? although we sometimes have the answers to those questions. pinpoint andunder line genetic cause of heart disease in that patient or family, we often simply don't have the answers. this is why more research is needed and why we need to do the type of research we are doing to really understand what causes childhood heart disease so we can provide those kinds of answers to patients and fam families. >> ainsley: heart transplant last resort. >> heart failure the most severe end of the spectrum. >> ainsley: do a lot of children have that condition? >> fortunately heart failure is quite rare in children when this

happens this the end of childhood heart disease. heart of can no longer pump blood efficiently around the body. we'll don't have any therapist . prevent heart failure or restore function to the failing heart. and our existing drugs really only help to alleviate symptoms and slow down disease progression. but eventually the heart needs to be transplanted and this is really a last resort therapy. >> ainsley: it's just remarkable when we were talking before this interview you were telling me you can get a stem cell just off of my kin. can you create heart tissue in addition, in your lab and watch it actually beat. >> this is incredible thing about this technology. so we can take blood sample or a skin sample from many individual, including from you, ainsley and take your own cells and then we can reprogram them in the lab all the way back to a

stem cell that turn into all the cell types in the body. we have developed methods in our group that allows to turn those stem cells into beating heart tissue in the lab. >> ainsley: it's just amazing what you are doing. what is your interest in this? did you have someone in your family that was affected by congenital heart disease or you just wicked smart, which is true, you are very smart, obviously. >> yeah. so i have always had an interest in science and medicine and i have sort of fairly conventional path into medical research. but my interest in this particular area of childhood heart disease is really driven by strong personal connection to this disease. two of my cousins peter and frankie were born with a heart defect and sadly frankie passed away at the age of 9. and i meet families and patients, you know, almost every week. >> ainsley: can you relate. >> in my work and we work closely with heart su surgeons d

cardiologists. this is what we do. it's incredibly heart breaking at times and motivating and inspiration for the research that we do. >> your cousins, were they brothers? >> they were, yeah. yeah. >> ainsley: you are trying to figure out if that was something genetic or just a fluke. >> yeah. that's the kind of research we are doing. we often studies families that will have heart disease running in the family. and that can often guide us towards an underlying cause and then what we're really working towards is trying to develop treatments that can really target that root cause of heart disease and that might prevent their progression to failure and avoid the need for transplantation. >> ainsley: professor, god bless you. thank you for what you are doing with this research and helping some families. god bless the murdoch family. we love them. they obviously put food on my table. great to work for a company that are helping so many families

you, you know, get to the bottom of this and help them and try to find a cure. we're far from a cure or you don't like to talk about it because you are a researcher or scientist? >> it's always hard to say how far away are we from a cure i think we are at incredibly exciting time in medicine and by tech no right now see technologies moving at a pace that we really haven't seen before. so, both in aga in genomics rea. and understand the model for life. stem cells allow us to model human diseases in the life and ai speeding up our ability to pinpoint the underlying causes of disease and develop personalized treatments for many conditions, including childhood heart disease. so i'm hopeful based on how far things have come over the last 10 years. about the next decade is going to be really exciting. >> ainsley: it's amazing. what an honor to talk to you. thank you so much for what you

the deadline for this was 5:00 p.m. yesterday. but, in bucks county yesterday, that line was cut off early at 2:30 p.m. they were turning people away there that wanted to do on demand mail-in voting. we were there yesterday as officers put up a sign reading the line ends here. we spoke to two voters, including terrence, a trump supporter, who said he doesn't know if he will vote now after being turned away because he will be a little busy on election day welcoming a baby. >> be able to come here on election day? >> unfortunately i won't. because my fiancee she is expecting on november 5th. so quite the day. >> i believe that the people that are in line right now are being discouraged from voting as situated with a line that says the line ends here. america doesn't end here just the line in doylestown. >> now, the republican national committee says they have received numerous complaints of lines being cut early voters not being allowed to go in and being turned away in bucks county.

ownership and child care more affordable? >> yeah. i think it's -- excuse me. i think it's a direct result of the price inflation. the skyrocketing prices we have under biden, harris and bob casey. bob casey voted 98% of the time for all these spending bills. we have got to make it easier to have children. president trump in his 2017 tax plan had a tax and child tax credit. i would triple the size of that. so that needs to be much more significant to have child care tax credit. one of the things i bureau posed is a fertility treatment. ivf tax credit because fertility treatment is so expensive. most americans can't afford it. and, yet, and if they can't afford it, they can't experience the joy of children. when i was a ceo, i made sure every single employee had access to ivf. we need do that for all americans. six daughters. so the joy of parenting i want to make sure every single pennsylvanian can have that who wants it. thank you.
