thing because of the kids from billings, montana and thank you for that. that was my one more thing. i get credit for finding it. let's give credit to brendan is the the producer who found it. we're going to be here, "america's newsroom" is live on sunday 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. don't adjust your set. you will adjust your clocks. it is not monday when you see us on sunday at 9:00 a.m. and we'll do election preview and "the five" is also live that day. >> bill: tuesday night the big one starts at 6:00 eastern time with bret and martha. >> dana: how will i get from "the five" to special coverage at 6:00? >> bill: i think we can work it out called a.i. >> dana: okay. harris faulkner is up next. here she is. >> bill: see you tomorrow. >> harris: we begin with this fox news alert. another heavy day of campaigning
8:01 am
for both presidential candidates and the current president's garbage comment is still front and center. i'm harris faulkner and you are in "the faulkner focus." when someone offers you a gift, most people say take it. that's exactly what former president donald trump did on the campaign trail yesterday. he wasted no time in taking advantage of the current president biden's remark about trump supporters. trump rolled up before one rally in a garbage truck branded with his logo and name to take reporters' questions. networks took him. he also wore an orange garbage worker vest while delivering remarks to supporters. trump then tore into president biden's words several times. >> i have to begin by saying 250
8:02 am
million americans are not garbage. crooked joe biden finally said what he and kamala really think of our supporters. he called them garbage. no way. no way. my response to joe and kamala is very simple. you can't lead america if you don't love americans. >> harris: so here is the issue not so much for biden because he is not running, but for his vice president, who is running for the white house right now against trump. the white house is still trying to clean this up. press secretary karine jean-pierre with this spin. >> just to clarify he was not calling trump supporters garbage. he does not view trump supporters or anybody who supports trump as garbage. that's not what he views. he has said multiple times he is a president for all. >> do you have any regret for not -- his language was not
8:03 am
specific and if you were listening to that video. >> i was not in the room. >> if you were a normal person listening to that video and looking at clips online you can come to the conclusion that he was calling at minimum this one man garbage or if not all trump supporters garbage. >> look, the president wanted to clarify because he understood that what he may have said was -- he understood what he was saying was being taken out of context. >> harris: this is just the latest example of joe biden distracting from kamala harris's campaign. a new opinion piece is asking is biden rooting for his vice president or his own legacy? national correspondent griff jenkins is at the white house. >> good morning, harris. this is a bold claim. the harris campaign says they won't lose a single voter because of this garbage gaffe and only time will tell if that holds true. it has certainly become a distraction on the campaign
8:04 am
trail as the vice president repeatedly has to distance herself from the president's comments, watch. >> well, first of all i think that the president has explained what he meant but i've said it earlier, i strongly disagree with any criticism of people based on who they vote for. >> and that added apostrophe to the statement continues to dog the white house. they demand a corrected transcript and accusing the white house at violating the presidential records act. instead of apologizing or clarifying his words the white house instead sought to change them despite them being recorded on video by releasing a false transcript of his remarks. white house staff cannot rewrite the words of the president of the united states to be more politically on message. meanwhile former president trump continues to capitalize on the gaffe while attacking harris on the economy.
8:05 am
>> kamala harris, a low i.q. individual, is running a campaign of hate, anger, and retribution. what she is going to do to get the economy going, we'll do this and that. by the way, her plans are the plans of a simpleton. they aren't going to work. >> we've reached out to the white house about that house republican letter and have yet to hear back. >> harris: thank you. i want to bring in power panel jeremy hunt, veterans on duty chairman, former army intelligence capture and jose, jeremy if they thought it would go away they should watch the liberal media trying to tackle this, keep far ahead of other headlines at this point. >> that is exactly right. let me just say president trump was really a genius move for
8:06 am
him. the press conference from the garbage truck. does a rally wearing the vest. a genius move to own this moment where you have president biden making a disparaging remark about half the country. as you are saying the story has legs. a lot of people are watching this double standard play out in the liberal media. when it is president biden that says something that's really just a horrible thing to say calling half the country garbage they have thrown out every excuse in the book to defend him. they're saying it was just a gaffe. you know he has a start. he didn't mean to say this. they are grasping at trying to defend the indi vinceible. if president trump says something it is an attack on democracy. people won't just go vote against harris and disastrous policy ideas but also against
8:07 am
the liberal media establishment who treats people on the right like we're somehow second rate citizens. >> harris: all right. i am going to before i come to you, jose, we want to go now vice president kamala harris is on the campaign trail in madison, wisconsin. let's watch. >> and the opportunity that we the american people have to chart a new way forward. i will comment on the former president, donald trump's remark about women and whether they like it or not. and listen, it is just actually is, i think, very offensive to women in terms of not understanding their agency, their authority, their right and their ability to make decisions about their own lives, including their own bodies. and this is just the latest on a series of reveals by the former
8:08 am
president of how he thinks about women and their agency. whether he has said, as he has, that women should be punished for their choices, whether he has talked about his pride in taking away a fundamental right from women. whether it be how he has actually created a situation in america where now one in three women lives in a trump abortion-ban state and has legal restrictions on the right she rightly should have to make decisions about her own body. the other point i will refer to about -- in the last many hours is the speaker's comments about the affordable care act. i've been saying throughout this campaign be very clear, whether we continue with the affordable care act or not. it has been a part of donald trump's agenda for a very long time. he has made dozens of attempts
8:09 am
to get rid of the affordable care act and now we have further validation of that agenda from his supporter the speaker of the house. and what that would mean for the american people is that insurance companies could go back to a time when they would deny you coverage for health insurance based on pre-existing conditions. pre-existing conditions such as being a survivor of breast cancer, asthma, diabetes. what i know is that the american people, regardless of who they are voting for, know the importance of the affordable care act. also called obamacare in terms of expanding people's coverage to healthcare. based on a fundamental principle i hold deeply. access to healthcare should be a right and not just a privilege for those who can afford it. each day there are also indications that we are
8:10 am
receiving from my opponent that verify, validate and reinforce the fact when he is not going to be fighting for women's reproductive rights. he did not prioritize the freedom of women and the intelligence of women to make decisions about their own lives and bodies, and healthcare for all americans is on the mind in this election as well. i will take your questions. >> yes, you know, since the beginning stages of your campaign you have described yourself as an underdog. that language has gone from your speech now. has something changed in how you are feeling? >> no, listen, i'm putting it all on the field and it will be a very tight race and i'm running like the underdog because we are. donald trump has been running for the last decade. i've been in the race 3 1/2 months and the stakes are so high. but i've been saying for quite some time regardless of what the polls say we are going to win. i do believe that. because i do believe that this
8:11 am
is a choice about two very different directions for our country and the choice being offered by donald trump is about going backward, about a constant emphasis on degrading the american people and our capacity versus a track that is about bringing the country together knowing we have more in common than what separates us and we should have a plan, which i do, to actually get things done including bringing down the cost of living for people, investing in small businesses, expanding access to healthcare, investing in american industries including the future of american industries, and american workers, so there you go. >> you talk about what the former president said being offensive to women. >> i think it is offensive to everybody by the way. >> that is my question. the hyper masculinity he is talking about. what do you think about it resonating with men and male voters specifically? >> you've been following me and
8:12 am
you will see that in the tens of thousands of people who attend our rallies, which is an opportunity to talk about the issues, talk about the future of our country, right, there are men, women, young people, people of every race, every background. one of the points i think that is a point of pride for everyone who attends, including myself, is that our campaign really is about bringing people together, people of very different and diverse backgrounds a common them. love of country, defending the constitution of the united states and investing in our future and rejecting the notion that we are divided or that would be acceptable that we would be divided as a nation. i'm very proud to have the support of men, women, young people, people of every background. >> we know you have five days until the election. how will you continue to draw
8:13 am
the contest with former president donald trump specifically with the undecided voters at the poll is shrinking now? >> i will continue as we do today and yesterday and so on to talk with people where they live. so again here in wisconsin heading to arizona and nevada to talk with people about issues like how we are going to deal with corporate price gouging to deal with grocery costs. how we'll invest in small businesses and expand access to capital. how i will give first-time homeowners a $25,000 down payment assistance if they're first-time home buyer to help them get their foot in the door. these are the issues the american people want to talk about. these are the issues that affect them and the issues they think about when sitting at thafr their kitchen cable or trying to go to sleep at night. they want a president of the united states who as i say will walk into the oval office with a
8:14 am
to-do list and not an enemy's list. i will continue do that after the course of the next few days to let folks know i see them, hear them and prepared to address their challenges with a plan about getting things done. >> madam vice president, you talked about -- can you please say something about hispanic voters going into today? >> harris: we've just watched the vice president, now democratic nominee for president kamala harris there taking a pretty much pop-up news conference. she had a few remarks to say. she, of course, went after donald trump. that's reflexively where her campaign messaging is right now. she took some questions that were all on topic of pretty much what she just said. i want you to see where she was attacking trump and what he actually said. she was saying that he is not really out to help women. here is what donald trump said that she was talking about at the top of her remarks. >> i'm going to be a protector.
8:15 am
i said i think we're doing very well with women and doing great in the polls and winning in all of the polls just about. [cheers and applause] but somebody said women love my policy but they don't like me. i think they do like me. [cheers and applause] i tell you what -- so they said -- and i said a week ago i said i think women like me because i will be your protector and i protected you for four years. >> harris: jose is with us as well as jeremy, we'll continue the conversation now with that bit of breaking news with the current vice president. jose, first of all, the comment about the fact that he doesn't want to help women, having done an all-women town hall with him he knows he has a gender gap here. she now is what is she doing,
8:16 am
drawing attention to that, which may, in fact, help him in some ways. how do you read it? >> well look, i will tell you, harris, when you want to put forth a national abortion ban. his vice president vance has said -- >> harris: you know he has denied that. he has denied that over and over and by the way, if he wanted to do that he would have -- he would have done it when he was president already. >> that's just one instance. >> you gave that as an example and i wanted to refute it. >> let's go back to when he said he women private parts. kamala harris will continue working for the american people and very clear and message is right on point. she is not busy trying to do little photo ops with a garbage truck. i have to give it to the trump team it very creative. it won't pull any votes. what will cause the election and
8:17 am
bring the victory home for kamala the puerto rico vote. people from trump's team that say they are garbage. >> he wasn't a team member. he was a comedian and the former president has talked about this. he told sean hannity and he is telling supporters and anybody who will listen that that person is not part of his team. he didn't know that person. >> well, i can tell you there are people from his team who said that kamala harris is a prostitute. she is controlled by pimps. what type of language is that? about a woman, african-american woman. it is very sad that they took an iconic beautiful place like madison square garden instead of talking what he wanted to do for the country. >> harris: if you actually watched and listen to the speech he made and not his guests. i didn't see all of it but i took the time to go back and watch. these are big moments in
8:18 am
history. every single one. in the middle of new york. it is iconic. his speech did not reflect what you are saying. he has denied having anything to do with. >> what about the people that owned the speech for him. >> harris: i understand why the team is understanding why the ball hasn't changed courts. it wasn't enough to take biden off the ticket even though you changed teams. >> a week before the election and we're seeing vice president harris start to take questions from the press. too little too late. she looks exhausted. i get it. you contrast the image of her now looking out how she looked coming out of the dnc and joy and energy and now you see her and she is kind of repeating the same talking points she says i'll have a to do list on day one even though i've been in office the last four years and haven't done anything of these things. she rolls out the same celebrity
8:19 am
surrogates who say the same stuff and shows a campaign that is teetering on failure. i think a lot of times at least for me. i talk to folks in georgia saying about -- >> harris: do not -- he did not interrupt you. go ahead jeremy. >> people want a commander-in-chief who will be decisive and keep americans safe. you saw trump talking about that. the last four years has been all of this indecisiveness out of the white house and led to instability around the globe. we have an axis of thor tarrance against our country now china, russia, iran, north korea. will we trust vice president harris to keep america safe? >> harris: they'll answer that on tuesday november 5th election day. the press corps didn't seem to be very nimble in its questions.
8:20 am
there should have been a question about really and truly what is going on here and that looks like a putback potentially to replace what is happening with the conversation that's going on, the other side of the garbage argument if you will since jose brought up the worker vest and all of that. it will be interesting to see how voters treat this moment, too. 52 million have voted as of yesterday already. we'll see. gentlemen, thank you very much. the biden-harris border crisis a top issue throughout the campaign. republican lawmakers now reportedly are ready to assist former president trump with border enforcement and immigration reform if he retakes the white house. senator ted cruz and congressman troy knells both of texas say plans to strengthen the border security and enforcement within the united states are on the table right now. retired border chief rodney scott wrote an open letter endorsing trump. more than 200 retired department of homeland security officials signed on and they argue, this
8:21 am
is a quote. president trump is the only candidate we can trust to secure our nation's border end quote. the former president continues to hit his rival on an issue he knows he wins on. >> they've thrown open your borders to criminals and terrorists. they've flooded your towns with deadly drugs and death. they've given your jobs to illegal migrants. this tuesday is your chance to stand up and declare that you are not going to take it anymore. >> harris: law enforcement is bracing for another possible surge of illegal immigrants at our southern border. we've been watching a caravan that's massing on the other side of the border for two weeks now. texas officials have seen an increase in crossings of special interest aliens. that's a problem. we don't want five of them let alone thousands. who could pose -- these people could pose a specific level of threat to american citizens.
8:22 am
brooke taylor from mcallen, texas. >> one of the major concerns that officials have with these special interest aliens is they are coming from countries that don't communicate to the u.s. and difficult to vet them. a major example of this making national headlines out of chicago last week. an illegal migrant charged with shooting a jewish man on his way to synagogue now confirmed as a special interest alien from moritania northwest africa. sources tell fox he was apprehended in the san diego sector and released into the u.s. last year. back here at the border in texas, dps says they are seeing those special interest aliens among the bigger groups. in eagle pass our cameras catching two migrants identified as special interest aliens from pakistan. dps also sharing these pictures after apprehending a group of 30 migrants in maverick county,
8:23 am
including three unaccompanied boys and three special interest immigrants from iran and guinea with the election days away. i also wanted to ask what authorities at the border are anticipating ahead of the election. >> closely monitoring. tens of thousands of immigrants waiting in southern mexico to see what will happen. we accept we may see a surge. we're ready in texas. >> and dps officials say right now there is no plan to increase the manpower now at the border. we'll see if that changes. as the lieutenant there said they're ready here, harris. >> harris: i did a ride along with him when i was down at the border last. a lot going on still. great reporting, brooke, thank you. congressman michael mccaul, republican of the state of texas, chairman of the house foreign affairs and member of the house homeland security committees both. good to see you.
8:24 am
tell me this, chairman. the situation in texas and along our border is so much a focus this election. what do you want voters who maybe are still deciding to know exactly in their decision making? every state is a border state because of fentanyl and the sex trafficking permeating the border from there. >> essentially that joe biden on day one, kamala harris reversed the policies that were working like remain in mexico that by the way, passed out of my committee. we passed it on the floor. it says you have to remain in mexico pending your political asylum claim. you won't be released into the united states. very simple. on day one joe biden reversed that policy. the cartels knew that. so catch and release came back into our society. what happened? about 10 million illegal aliens have now gotten into our country
8:25 am
and the fentanyl and drug traffickers and sex traffickers. we have a criminal enterprise network operating in the united states right now due to the failed policies. i tell you what, in my state the number one issue, but every state. all are impacted by it. shootings, fentanyl deaths. enough is enough. they want the border to be secure. we had it done. this is what really frustrates me. we had this thing done and then joe biden, kamala harris come in, the border czar, and all went to hell. >> harris: you talk to a lot of voters in and outside your state and many lawmakers do. some of you are on the trail for republicans across the country in the house and senate. down ballot will matter no matter which president is in the office. i can't imagine this issue of a
8:26 am
broader view of illegal immigration doesn't come up for whomever takes the mantle next. what needs to get done first? you can't do it all. 40 years of dealing with this has proven that. what can you get done if a president trump is the the next president? >> i've been dealing with this issue for about 40 years when i worked for the department of justice, chairman of homeland and chairman of foreign affairs. easy, return to the policies that work. remain in mexico worked. have political asylum claims adjudicated outside the united states and not released into the united states. it is not rocket science here. secondly, build the rest of the wall and the infrastructure. bring the technology down there. technology works. we just don't have it down there. we don't have the resources and the manpower. you know, harris, this could be done. this can be done so easily.
8:27 am
that's what frustrates me the most. it's not that hard to do but politics has always gotten in the way of this and under a trump administration and a republican house and senate, we are going to finish the job here and that's why the election is so important. >> harris: chairman mccaul. appreciate your time. thank you very much. >> thanks, harris. >> harris: the harris campaign just put out a new ad spoiler alert now. women have the right to vote for who they want to. i mean, men and women are offended by this. we'll get into it. women being told what to do by their men and how to push back. where is that narrative coming from with this campaign? legacy media in major damage control over president biden calling trump supporters garbage. >> working very hard to spin

many of you have served our country honorably. one of the benefits that we as a country give you as a veteran is the eligibility for a va loan, for up to 100 percent of your home's value. if you need cash for your family call newdayusa. with automatic authority from the va we can say yes when banks say no. give us a call. veteran homeowners need cash but worried you can't get a home loan because of your credit? here's great news. at newday we've been granted automatic authority by the va to make our own loan approval decisions. in fact, if you've had credit challenges and missed a payment along the way, you're more than five times more likely to get approved for the newday 100 va cash out loan. no one knows veterans like newday usa. here's why you should switch fo to duckduckgo on all your devie
8:33 am
duckduckgo comes with a built-n engine, like google, but it's r and doesn't spy on your searchs and duckduckgo lets you browsel but it blocks cookies and creepy ads that follow youa and other companies. and there's no catch. it's fre. we make money from ads, but they don't follow you aroud join the millions of people taking back their privacy by downloading duckduckgo on all your devices today. >> harris: vice presidential candidates non-stop trying to meet voters where they are, particularly in those battleground states. five days to go now. the press is on. the republican side we see here live ohio senator jd vance is currently taking audience questions at his event. not only meeting people where they are but taking questions. on the democratic side tim walz
8:34 am
is expected to hold a rally at any moment. it should begin in bucks county, pennsylvania. we'll keep an eye on what they have to say and bring you any news out of either of these events. the liberal media are coming to the aid of democrats and the current president joe biden. they are scrambling to help clean up his latest words that offended millions of americans. in particular on one side of the political aisle. they say he did not mean to call trump supporters garbage. >> they're working very hard to spin this to some crazy end. i don't understand why all the pearl clutching over biden's statement. why they all have a problem with what biden said. >> as someone who had a stutter growing up it's obvious there is an apostrophe at the end there. not the supporters themselves.
8:35 am
>> the story on the right trying to paint it to be the next basket of deplorables. >> trying to make a firestorm out of something. joe biden obviously doesn't believe that. >> harris: they're playing it down. can you imagine that they would do this if somebody called a current republican president called half the country garbage? do you really think? here they are helping clean up. "new york magazine" biden garbage controversy is pure republican hypocrisy. "politico" biden sparks a firestorm on the right over garbage. cbs, supporters or supporter's. oh, really? here is more of trump calling out both biden and harris. >> joe biden should be ashamed
8:36 am
of himself if he knows what he is even doing and she should be ashamed. she shouldn't let him do it. she is the vice president. i assume she is acting as the president. she should never have let that happen. >> harris: voters get it. they heard him. there is not a whole lot of cleanup that's changing people on both sides of the aisle what they know they heard to something that other people wish that they heard. watch. >> he knew exactly what he was saying. no way they can spin this. >> like every one of them they say -- they say this and try to clean up their comments. >> you didn't call trump supporters garbage. >> definitely out of touch. >> i really think he spoke when he believed. >> irresponsible. he is supposed to be bringing the country together not breaking us apart. >> harris: isn't that the point? that man gets it. >> exactly. what's hilarious about this,
8:37 am
harris, these are the exact same people the people trying to tell oils we didn't hear what we heard biden say, the same people who not long ago were telling us that biden is fine, totally fit, can do another four years rick it is cheap fakes. they're denying that biden said what he did say and then they are amplifying something from the madison square garden that trump didn't say. in many ways the interference, meddling and bias from the media is even worse than 2020 if you look at what they are doing this week. go back a few weeks and look at the insane way they puffed up kamala harris when she took over and all the way through her convention. a non-stop bias in her direction. it is worse than it's ever been. it doesn't matter anymore or not so much. we have x now as a free speech platform. fox news stronger than ever. loads of independent media. i don't think it is even going
8:38 am
to work. >> harris: the governor of minnesota, who she chose to be on the campaign trail by her side as the presidential candidate on the left, has called supporters nazis. i don't understand how we got to a point where we aren't allowed to hear the words and know they are being said but we want somebody to man and woman explain to us what we should have heard. let's just let everybody hear it again for themselves without all of the embellishment or whatever it is with an apostrophe. let's watch. >> president biden: rally called puerto rico a floating island of garbage. the only garbage i see floating out there is his supporters. >> harris: steve. >> it is so obvious that's what he meant. the thing is that we know that he meant it because this is a pattern of behavior. this is what he and they have been saying for years. of course it started with
8:39 am
hillary and the deplorables and biden himself. look at the speeches when he was there leading the effort. that disgusting speech where he smeared trump supporters as enemies of democracy, the blood read background, all of that. this is what they think of us. you look at the language. kamala harris trying to distance herself from this is preposterous. the insults and smears coming from her and her running mate are even worse. fascist and nazi? that's worse than garbage. so the whole thing is so transparent. for years now they have looked down on and condescended all the people in the trump movement. they just can't stand it and now the truth is coming out. >> harris: in this generation of that looks like hate. if hillary clinton as a failed more than once presidential candidate said deplorables, how can you say that we're in a better spot with our rhetoric
8:40 am
and the divide in this country when the current president says supporters of the current republican candidate are garbage? that is a progression that progressives should fight against and be embarrassed by, not make excuses more. like we've shown you in the voters' voices segment. lee carter gathered a group of democrats, republicans and independents to react in realtime to president biden's garbage comment. watch the blue, the red, the yellow lines representing blue democrat, red republican, yellow independents and they dip and move around during his remarks. watch the screen. >> the only garbage i see floating out there is his supporters. his demonization is unconscionable and unamerican. it's totally contrary to everything we've done. >> harris: everybody hears it. everybody is seeing it that sees
8:41 am
it. the lines are so divergent. that's how divided we are. even when the truth is there the party who supports the person saying it is going up and everybody else, independents and the people who are being insulted, republicans, are not. they are on the other end of the spectrum. >> that's why it is so ridiculous for kamala harris to make these speeches where she is literally within minutes smearing the whole trump movement and then saying she wants unity. it is press pas -- preposterous. the way in which almost overnight this appalling comment has been embraced by president trump himself, that incredible performance where he is wearing the garbage vest and the truck and his supporters now using -- making videos, we'll wear the
8:42 am
