high voter turnout in philadelphia hours before the polls closed. that never happened. trump had his best showing ever in philadelphia wiping 20% of the votes gaining 20,000 more votes. harris did not get the huge turnout she needed. bucks county flipped red for the first time since 1988. as for the senate race fox hasn't called it yet but dave mccormick is leading democrat senator bob casey by one point. trump improved with latino voters winning 39% of the hispanic vote. four points higher than 2020 despite the fact, bill, that democrats here on the last days really believed that that puerto rican insult joke at the rally would move latinos. it turned out many latinos could not afford to be offended. inflation winning the day. >> bill: good work. nice to see you in philly today. see you in new york soon.

carolina, wisconsin, georgia, pennsylvania helped push him beyond the 270 needed to come out on top. >> dana: let's get to mike tobin starting us off in the charming city of milwaukee. hi, mike. >> dana, when wisconsin was called it was what put trump over the threshold of 270 electoral votes. there was a hang-up with the voting in the city of milwaukee. 13 voting machines hadn't been properly locked. 31,000 absentee ballots were retabulated and pushed the submission of the absentee votes late into the night in deep blue milwaukee where most of those votes would be democrat. they got added into the mix late at night. it becomes relevant to the campaign of senate candidate hovde, the republican challenger to the incumbent democrat tammy baldwin. he went into the early morning hours in the lead. he is now behind less than a percentage point. baldwin campaign declared

victory, ap has not called that senate race yet. >> dana: thank you so much. thank you, mike. >> bill: north carolina meanwhile breaking decisively for president elect trump with record high turnout despite damage from hurricane helene in the western part of the state. we're live in raleigh with jonathan serrie. >> 5.7 million people cast ballots in north carolina. it didn't set a record in terms of sheer numbers it by far beat all previous elections. the big surprise as you pointed out was the high turnout in the western part of the state that suffered all those storm damage. other than the blue datz of asheville and boone this is a reliably conservative region and it delivered for president-elect donald trump. the state has a tradition of electing presidents and governors from opposing parties. john stein defeated republican mark robinson.

significantly closer. here is where things stand now between sam brown and incumbent democrat senator jackie rosen. he sits at 47.34, rosen is at 47.2. with more than 1 million ballots counted so far we have many more ballots coming in. in mail-in ballots that folks dropped off yesterday haven't been counted and the counting of mail-in ballots received by mail between now and saturday. the final area cured ballots. the nevada secretary of state said they have faced some issues regarding signature verification of thousands of mail-in ballots. >> we have 11,000 ballots that need to be cured. we have worked really hard over the last few days with the process. >> the last senate race here in

nevada in 2022 was also very close. democrat kathryn masto won by less than one percentage point. >> bill: we're in phoenix. >> it appears arizonians split the ticket in big ways. first president-elect donald trump currently leads vice president kamala harris in the count in this state that trump loss than just 10,000 votes in 2020. look at the senate race. now democratic congressman is ahead of gop candidate lake vying to fill the seat vacated by kyrsten sinema. if he wins he will become the nation's first latino u.s. senator. abortion was on the ballot here.

great men and women who want to serve. the idea that donald trump now has the four years experience at 1600 pennsylvania to know what works and what doesn't work and what you need to fill those roles i think is tremendously helpful. i feel like kamala harris wasn't able to complete that. she wasn't able to say i'm here now and give me four more. they have great men and women across the country saying put me in, i want to serve. when you get a big second chance like donald trump has and you see this big red sweep in terms of every single state in this country went red except nebraska and delaware when you think about it. looking at winning the popular vote. i have a mandate but have to keep it humble. i think he will work with urgency to pick up where he left off bill and dana. the energy independence. do executive orders on the border, what you can do on the economy and some other regulations certainly and work

she is based in pennsylvania. you've taken us along for the ride. you were in butler when the assassination attempt took place. what do you think was the breaking moment and/or issue in pennsylvania now? >> so i have been actually writing about this for a few months and i've been on the show talking to you about it. the emergence of the middle class is that is often looked at by the national media, not you guys, and democrats as being white working class. what they failed to understand sort of what the blind spot was is that white working class, hispanic working class, black and asian working class vote shoulder to shoulder coming all together because they vote about their community, their family, and their lives and the economy

was just never there for them. and the more that the democrats and biden and then harris and then the experts kept saying oh, the economy is great and they are like i can't do my budget. i have to use my credit card to pay for my groceries and that has put them in debt. and they missed the ball on that so much. they don't understand that this coalition as i wrote in my book the great revolt, this coalition was only going to expand because the democrats had pushed their working class out and the republicans have embraced them and tried to work with them on policy issues that they didn't always support like free trade. >> dana: selena, you have a really amazing immigrant story in your own family and you followed a lot of these stories. one of the things i said last night when it comes to latinos and hispanic voters, there comes

a point in every immigrant wave where you become just american, okay? my family, we all have stories. have we reached that tipping point here with latino voters that we are no longer going to be segregating out. it is american voters at this point. >> that's exactly right. i started noticing this small shift, nonetheless it existed, in 2014. but also kept growing incrementally. that's how american politics does. hispanic families and hispanic voters vote very much the same as italians did. i can just go from my own experience and look at my italian immigrant family and they sort of like to live within four blocks of their children and their grandchildren. they are often pro-life, pro-gun but also small business people who are trying to carve out a

life. you see it in hispanic communities, little plumbing companies or h vac companies and restaurants and hairdressers and they have been -- they feel that they have been left behind with the democrat party that they initially embraced when they came to this country. but as that party has changed, they have moved toward the republicans. >> bill: it is the natural evolution of human beings. they want to have -- you know, if you are raising a family, what do your kids want to do? you want them to have a better life than you had. by the way, the kids want that, too. >> yeah, they do. and they want that opportunity for those -- their children to be able to live within the same community as they do. not being stuck but being able to have opportunities so that their families can stay together.

that matters so much more than a big raise if you move to the big city. >> dana: one more question about the senate race. we haven't yet called the senate race in pennsylvania. bob casey's path would be almost impossible. how seismic would this be if it's called for dave mccormick. >> it is a big deal. casey has been in office since 1996 statewide as the u.s. senator in the commonwealth since 2006. and mccormick ran on change and i think that a lot of people missed that, that he was the change candidate, and he also, you know, just talked about look, if i mess up i'll be the first to tell you. he also term limited himself if he won. this is a really big deal.
