>> what can america learn from our vets? >> that's a question we don't have a lot of time to talk about that but i would say a lot we can learn from our veterans. leadership and most importantly is the ability to inspire commitment and inspire resilience and trust and i think what we know from our veterans, veterans have good character, competent and committed to country. >> lastly family support of how? >> families, what i would say especially now around veterans day start asking veterans their story. instead of thanking them for their service, ask them their story and let veterans tell who they are and what they are about. >> ask them for their story. i love that. honor you for your service. thank you. back to you, dana. >> dana: jason and dr. siegel. thank you great much. ask veterans their story in addition to thanking them for their service. thanks for being there, dr. siegel. see you next week.

>> thank you. >> dana: a threat to democracy that's the message from president biden but now a very different message after the election. i'm dana perino. >> bill: i'm bill hemmer. good morning to you. almost the weekend, kid, right? siegel looked good there. >> dana: that event is so great. i would love to do it. i think the president would be like what do you think you can do? you can't keep up with me. he is probably right. >> bill: as democrats come to grips with their loss they are trying to shift the narrative along with their tone. here is president biden before and then after the election. >> president biden: he is a genuine threat to our democracy. that's not -- that's the god truth. we will insure a peaceful and orderly transition. we'll be okay. but we need to stay engaged.
7:02 am
>> bill: the white house was pressed on the shift leaving things to get somewhat heated in the briefing room. peter doocy follows that on the north lawn. what happened and what was said? >> officials here are not saying that donald trump is going to strip women's rights and destroy democracy anymore. they are also not apologizing for all the times they did. >> is the message to people who are fearful based on what the messaging was about -- >> you are twisting everything around and it's really unfair. no, jackui, it is unfair. i've been standing here being respectful to what happened two nights ago. being respectful. >> axios has published new details what harris told staffers post loss. during the call harris said yeah, it sucks. we all just speak the truth, why don't we, right? there is also so much good that has come of this campaign. the report continues the message

didn't resonate with some harris staffers. it was detached from the reality of what happened, one side. we're told the fate of democracy is at stake and then the message was we'll get them next time. next time may come quick according to some house dems. >> a lot of us remember congressman you led the charge on investigating trump as an existential threat to democracy. how do you hold trump accountable now without control of the senate or likely for that matter the house and after the u.s. supreme court granted him major presidential immunity? >> well, we are going to discover the answer to your question as we go through this over the next several years. >> bill: president biden is off to his beach house in delaware later today. vice president harris remains in washington, d.c. all her briefings and meetings will be closed to press. we haven't been told when exactly she plans to return to the business of the vice

presidency. bill. >> bill: no date when trump meets biden at the white house, is that right? >> no, they said it will be in the near future but anything between now and inauguration day is the near future. so we'll see. >> bill: that fits the definition. thank you, peter, great work down there on the north lawn. >> dana: more on this "new york post" contributor douglas murray, great to have you here. play for a trip down memory lane last week what democrats were saying. >> donald trump is a great threat to our democracy. >> don't give them the power. they are after our democracy and take our rights away yes. >> donald trump is an existential threat to our democracy and our most fundamental freedoms. >> president biden has been clear eyed about the threat that the former president represents to our democracy. >> dana: how is jackui's question unfair? >> it is totally fair. the democrats have to do a pivot. they know that what they were saying in the campaign was a lie. it remind me of the pivot they tried to do briefly after the
7:05 am
first assassination attempt on president trump when the same people we just heard from have been saying he is hitler and when somebody almost killed him they said well, he may be hitler but i'm glad he wasn't hurt. that's none an easy or clever pivot. it shows that you were lying and exaggerating and fibing before and the same now. they have spent months, the democrats, particularly kamala harris saying donald trump ex threat and now looking forward to a peaceful transfer of power. all it demonstrates is they were fibing trial to rile up their base. hollow, extremist rhetoric from them and we're reminded about that. i feel sorry for some democrat voters taken in by this. there are probably some who have been terrified into believing
7:06 am
what kamala harris and they said for political gain. >> bill: kimberly -- so long as the left is pointing fingers let it direct at the outfit that played the biggest roll in using, the u.s. media. >> it's a yes but with a caveat. not like it is all of the media. yes, a lot of the media in this country has been wildly partisan against trump, against the republicans forever. but there are certain papers, mention to "new york post" as one. if you read that the last four years you could see what was coming and in recent years you could see the truth about joe biden earlier than "the new york times" or anyone else was willing to say. you could see the hollowness of kamala harris before the "washington post" was willing to say it. you know, it is not all of the media but sure, i mean, some of the papers, some of the networks, i mean, they have been misleading their readers and
7:07 am
viewers for years. they lied about biden. they lied about harris, they lied about trump. will they now keep doing it? we'll see. if i were them i would take this as an opportunity they did not take in 2016 which was the opportunity to learn from their loss, actually learn. what is it about the democrats that is not resonating with the working people of america? there is a lot for them to learn if they can pass the denial stage of the grieving process. if they can pass that who knows, maybe they could come back sometime? if they don't and they double down on this empty hollow scare mongering rhetoric of course they have nowhere to go. >> dana: we can expect some big changes on a lot of different fronts. one is foreign policy. "wall street journal" writes this about iran. as iran weighs striking israel a third time its defenses are down after israel's retaliation and the biden administration can no longer protect the iranian regime. it has collapsed thanks to u.s.

7:20 am
i'm winning those votes significantly. it has been clear for some time that the math didn't work. there was no path to winning for senator casey, which is why i think the a.p. called it. >> bill: meanwhile bob casey has not conceded saying it has been made clear there are more than 100,000 votes still to be counted. we need to insure every vote will be counted. it is what pennsylvania deserves. there are two races now which have yet to be called. one is in nevada. the other is in arizona. republicans currently with 53 senate seats and that is a firm majority. dana. >> dana: the other big story the election is latino voters. let's look here because trump won big time. let's take a look. latino voters harris lost eight, trump gained seven. how do you break it down. latino men president trump up nine, she lost nine.

then an even split with women. up six with women, harris down six. it has had some pretty interesting discussions going on across the country we could say, bill. we'll continue that with florida international university politics professor. he joins me now. what do you make of some of the overall support latinos had before we get into the gender breakdown? >> we've been seeing this shift over the last two years. in fact, in the polling that we've been doing, we've been seeing a significant drop from 2020 where president biden had 67% of the latino vote and in some of our surveys, the one we did in july, we saw a support for president biden of only 41% among hispanics. the entry of kamala harris actually increased her support among latinos so while the news for democrats and especially for

democratic latinos is not very good the reality she was a better candidate than joe biden among latinos. >> dana: if we pull up this poll here, the top issue to latinos on the economy at 43%, immigration 18% and abortion 12%. one of the things i point out the democrats for a long time were saying the economy is fine. look at the page 34 of the fed report of st. louis. it was just not consistent with what people were dealing with in their real lives. how do you see that? >> yeah. in fact, we've been calling this sort of cognitive dissonance. most latinos are still democrats even though the rate of support for the democratic party has dropped. but the dissonance comes largely when you ask them about the direction of the economy, the direction of the country. where a vast, vast majority of latinos were discontent with the direction of the economy and the direction of the country.
7:23 am
and in that sense, right, it is always -- we know this regardless of electoral process, that when the numbers on the economy are so low, it is very hard to expect voters to reelect someone or elect someone new who promises economic numbers like these. >> dana: tell me about immigration. that was the second most important issue. how does it square here? looking at numbers out of texas especially the south of texas turning red or redder. >> yeah. we have been asking agreement or disagreement with a couple of items that were largely part of donald trump's agenda, the mass deportation, for example. and we have found consistently support among these are u.s. citizens, right? either naturalized or u.s. born latinos. we found 40% agreement with mass
7:24 am
deportation. we also found almost 40% agreement with the statement about whether the new arrivals are criminals, whether the vast majority are criminals. and so there is this important dimension of how latinos view those who are arriving right now that in my view, especially in places like the border, like the valley of texas and like south miami where latinos interestingly took this approach. >> dana: professor, thank you for coming on the show today. there is a lot to sort out in all of this and it is a big part of the puzzle in the postmortem. thank you, have a good weekend. >> bill: white house now reiterating that president biden does not plan to pardon his son, hunter. this ahead of a hearing that could land the first son in prison. plus president-elect trump making history with his new chief of staff. what that might reveal about the plans for the rest of his cabinet.
