[no audio] morgan, you served with secretary mike pompeo. you probably know nikki haley very well. are you surprised by the announcement from president-elect trump that they will not be part of the next trump administration? >> no. donald trump has a political mandate from the american people so bring in whoever he thinks is the best fit for his next administration, and i think he has an embarrassment of riches to choose from. many of the names being floated

about amongst the national security cabinet if positions are people that i know and have worked with for a long time that have remained very loyal to the president and i know will execute his policies. and that's, ultimately, what you need in a national security cabinet. you get behind the scenes, you debate policy, but when the president makes a decision, you work to execute it. and i think he has an embarrassment of riches of choices. mike: let's show some possible names that could be in the new cabinet for secretary of state, senators rubio and haggerty, ambassador rick yes knell. secretary of defense, congressman mike waltz or mike rogers. chad wolf, tom homan,s no strangers to our audience. the texas a.g., matt whitaker, doug burgum. what do you make of those names and faces, morgan? >> of them ivan been on the campaign trail -- i've been on the campaign trail with. chad wolf, rick yes network

agoer -- haggerty and others, chad wolf and i have been going down to the border, tom homan as well. so many of us have been campaigning to get our majority back and get donald trump back in the white house now for a good three years. so again, i think the people that are on the president's short list are not only people who are loyal to him and who have campaigned for him, but every pick -- picture that you just saw are people that are eminently qualified to be secretary of state, secretary of defense, attorney general, dhs, you name it. and that's one thing, i think, will be very different now. the president doesn't have to choose people that he doesn't know, right? he's got a lot of people that he's been working with for years and some new faces. i'm incredibly excited about what elon musk may do to reform government. we spend more on our national debt than we spend if on our department of defense. it's a tragedy, and until we have somebody like elon musk and his team who might be willing to break glass, we're going to continue in this downward spiral that we can't afford to be in.

mike: national security adviser jake sullivan offered a preview of this this week's biden-trump meeting at the white house. let's play it. >> they will go through the top issues, both domestic and foreign policy issues, including what is happening in europe, in asia and the middle east. and the president will have the chance to explain to president trump how he sees things, where they stand and talk to president trump about how president trump is thinking about taking on these issues when he takes office. mike: morgan, what do you expect from that meeting? >> well, as far as i understand, president trump left a very kind and generous note to president biden when he came in four years ago. is i expect it to be cordial. but i'll be quite frank with you, president trump has a very big mess to clean up. when he came in in january 2017, there was a caliphate of isis that he had to destroy. now we see isis growing all over the place. they have a foothold in every province if in afghanistan. so isis is back, you know,

thanks to biden. china and iran have been meddling in the election are, have been trying to support kamala harris, they tried to kill -- the iranians, at least, have plots to kill president trump. so you see europe in chaos, the middle east many chaos. china feels more emboldened now than ever, so it is chaos and disaster around the world thanks to biden-harris, so i'm sure president trump will be gracious when talking to president biden, buts the cleanup on aisle five when he gets back in in january. it's a mess. mike: there was a politico report saying the biden team was weighing how to trump-proof foreign policy. do you expect last minute maneuvering? >> i certainly -- i expect it, yes. it shouldn't happen but, yes, i expect it. the reason why it shouldn't happen is because that is undermining democracy. that is undermining the will of the american people. the american people delivered the biggest victory to trump and the republican party in 36 years. the senate, likely the house, trump winning all of the swing

states. so it is a mandate, a clear and unequivocal man to president trump his policies. you're not undermining trump whenever you try to trump-proof his foreign policy, you're undermining the will of the american people and, therefore, democracy by doing that. mike: morgan ortagus, always good to see you. thank you so much for your time today. >> thank you, sir. mike: to florida governor ron desantis says there will be an investigation into the fema official who instructed disaster relief workers to avoid homes displaying trump signs last month. fema administrator key january kriswell released a statement saying, we take our mission to help everyone seriously. this employee has been terminatedded, and we have referred the matter if to the office of special counsel. i will continue to do everything i can to make sure this never if happens again. there are calls in both the senate and house for investigations into fema. house oversight chair james comer's calling administrator

kriswell to testify before his committee and in a letter to the dhs inspector general, senator hawley writes, quote, screen shots show workers did, in fact, skip an estimated 202 homes explicitly stating the only reason as trump sign, no entry per leadership -- 20 signs. this is wholly unacceptable. for more, let's bring in south carolina republican congresswoman and member of the house oversight committee nancy mace. congresswoman, welcome. >> thank you for having me today. mike: so what are your expectations? you were on the oversight committee. what are your expectations when the fema administrator comes to to testify before your panel? >> well, fema was very quick to say this was an isolated incident, but i am quite a bit skeptical of that. i want to know how they can affirm that it was the isolated and didn't happen anywhere else. i've heard from people throughout the southeast who applied for that $750 fema relief check and were denied within an hour of applying for it. and so i have many questions for

fema and how we literally clean up this mess. mike: it appears you're on track to have a majority in the house to go with a majority in the senate and also a republican in the white house. so what are your expectations for what can get done over the next two years? >> first thing i want to say is i have such great pride in my fellow countrymen. this was an absolute mandate to cut taxes, to deport those who are here illegally and and to protect women. my biggest concern right now is the make sure that we as republicans that have, will have a supermajority, that we don't swindle this, that we don't -- that we do a better job this time than last time and we put trump's agenda first. and if that means we need to ensure that cabinet members are confirmed, those who are going into the administration, those are who are leaders in both chambers have his agenda first and won't thwart it, won't try to subvert it, that we have people who will put the american people first no matter what. mike mike typically, the house

speaker would return in his role. do you expect any challenge to speaker mike johnson? >> i don't see any challenges of leadership for the speaker's position. and, again, my concern and where i'm going to be voicing my opinion will be to to ensure that everyone in both chambers is putting trump's agenda first which means we're going to put the american people first for once in a really, really long time. mike: your subcommittee is planning to hold a hearing on unidentified aanonymous phenomenon, exposing the truth, what we used to call ufos. what are your expectations for the hearing? >> we have a former member, a former admiral, member of the military, we have someone who's a former person at nasa a and some other scientists. i'm very much looking forward to trying to get to the bottom of this and, in fact, as soon as i get off air, mike, i'm going to be talking to a whistleblower to try to pinpoint what questions we want to get and what information we want to get out of this. i think it's really important that we have scientists and experts and people who have seen some of these unknown phenomena

and can tell us what's really going op, how much the government is spending on it. when there's money seat belt spent towards these things, if there's nothing there, why is the government hiding it from the american people? that's my number one question. mike: congratulations on your victory, being sent back to congress for a third term. what are your keys to victory? >> well, i talked about inflation and spending which is the fault of both parties. obviously, illegal immigration and women's issues were center mind for a very purple district, and one of the things we did is we kicked out a sanctuary sheriff who was letting illegals back out onto the street including pedophiles and those committing sex crimes. ill lowell immigration was absolutely on the ballot -- illegal immigration, and i'm deeply humbled to serve south carolina. mike: congresswoman nancy mace of the great state of south carolina, look forward to seeing you back on capitol hill soon. have a wonderful day. >> thank you. mike the trial of marine veteran daniel penny will resume tuesday. what to expect from the list of

the defense last week. c.b. cotton is live in new york with more. he low, c.b. >> reporter: hi, mike. yeah, we still have to hear from the medical examiner who ruled the death a homicide and daniel penny's martial arts instructor in the ma if lean corpses. in the meantime, the prosecution has called several eyewitnesses to the stand, each with a different takeaway on who was a greater threat that day, daniel penny or to jordan neely. on friday one woman testified she thanked penny for steeling in after neely started making threats on the subway last year. and then during her cross-examination, the defense played her statements to police on boyle body camera video. >> i heard the young man that's on the floor saying, hey, i'm willing to die, you know? i'll do anything, i'll go to jail, i don't care, i don't care. and he was saying it so loud that everyone turned around. he sat up, grabbed him, turned him around and put him to the ground. >> reporter: that woman, one of three witnesses for the prosecution who on friday

testified that they felt relieved when penny placed neely in the chokehold. another, a mother who said she used her stroller to shield her 5-year-old son from neely as he made threats. this testimony may end up helping penny's case. if. >> yeah, you know, look, i think it's a, you know, we got to see what this case was all about, and we got to see what the riders on that subway train that were trappedden that underground subway car -- >> reporter: earlier in the week we heard witness testimony from two men who indicated on the stand that they felt penny went too far. so while each eyewitness seems to have a different takeaway, neely's family says they're confident they'll get a conviction. >> so i just, like i said, i just believe in the prosecution, i believe in the justice for jordan neely. i don't think that the judge, the jury or any of the witnesses are con vinceed -- convinced by

♪ mike: republicans are on the brink of keeping criminal of the house, mering the 23218 seats needed for a majority -- 3218 -- 218 as attention turns out west. christina coleman is live following these contests for us. what's taking so long? [laughter] >> reporter: well, the mail-in ballot process in california, it's definitely going the take days before we know the outcome. i've got to tell you, there's 20 outstanding house races across the nation, and california has the bulk of them with 6 close

toss-up races, more than any other state. and as of right now, republicans have the lead in 4 of those 6 tight contests by a slim margin. if of course, the outcome of those races will help determine the power balance in congress. as of right now, republicans are just 5 seats away from keeping control of the house, 218 seats are needed to keep the majority. right now republicans have 213 seats, and democrats have 2022. as both parties wait on the outcome of these house races, there's continued analysis of how democrats lost ground with key demographics including young people, independents, black and latino men this election. go ahead and take a look at that map. even in deep blue california, republicans split 10 counties red by vowing to do a better job addressing critical issues in this liberal state including rampant homelessness and crime. >> if you look at a some of the bluest states in this country, new york and california, for

gains president trump made in a variety of demographics. women, +3. went, +3. hispanic voters, +7. black vote earth, +8. young vote earth, +10. what do you make of that, ari? >> we were wrong, and we were wrong big. when people send their kids to college, pay $100,000 at columbia university and then they can't go to classrooms, you have congresswomen who don't even think hamas is a terrorist organization, the far left of my party is responsible for this defeat. the far left of my party that doesn't understand people care about economic issues first and foremost. yeah, i think president trump is not the right person to be president. i didn't vote for him. but the majority of the american people this time vote voted for him, and reality is reality whether we like it or not. we'll fight him in two years in the midterm, but there are three core issues. first and foremost, we do not know how to formulate a message. trump comes out, intends a twee,

brief, succinct, to the point. we go on these long diatribes that no one cares, reads or understands. second, policy issues are important to people, but policy issues that matter to everyday americans. that's the economy, that's jobs, that's homelessness, that's when you actually go to california, my if home state, and people go shoplifting and don't get prosecuted up to $950, there is a problem. that is why we lose these hard core, lefty d.a.s. and, again, i'm a liberal. there's a difference between a left-winger and a classical liberal. there has to be some order in this party, and i think this is, again, the blame game is going to go on, but the hard core, left-wing of the party is responsible for this. mike: okay. i want to play a clip, i'll get you to react to it, jack. >> the demographics here, i mean, trump got 1 out of every 3 voters of color. >> no. >> yeah.

>> 33. >> really? >> yeah. >> when you say color, you mean, like, black, brown, everything? oh. well, i think that, you know, people have different issue is that they care about. mike: what about president-elect's growth with minority voters? >> mike, it is so huge. i was looking at some numbers. i mean, he has the largest black support since gerald ford, 1976, and among hispanics, the most for a republican president since richard nixon's landslide, 1972. i want to say, ari, if the democrats want to come back at some point in the next 2, 4, 8 years, they should listen to you. because i've been listening the a lot of democrats, and there's a lot of back biting. but people are not saying what you're saying which is it's important that what used to be liberal or liberal-moderate is no longer the case. in this current party not just the left wing of your party but, frankly, it's the biden white house, it's the biden-harris white house, it's the dnc that

went down this path that was so extreme that it led, you know, i listened to senator johnsonned today on the round table on wabc. he said people felt of all types, they felt marginalized, trolled, and they felt like they wanted their country back. and that, to me, is why donald trump won in this land are slide. mike: all right. i want to play a clip from bernie sanders, and i'll get you to react. >> the working class of this country is angry, and they have a reason to be angry. what that man named donald trump did do is he said, i feel your pain. i know that you're hurting, and i have an explanation. mike: so how does the democratic party go from the party of, apparently, elites -- you've got all these celebrities campaigning -- and get back to the working man and woman? >> again, this is messaging. donald trump understands how to size and empathize. i don't think he's the right person to solve these problems, but i'm not the majority of the american people. they didn't see our candidate --

[applause] mike: jack, how long do you expect the blame game to go on? >> i actually think that is going to continue, and i actually don't think that the democratic party is actually going to listen to to you. i think that this is going to be something that's going to continue for the next to two years, four. maybe someone like a manchin will come along and said i will grab hold of this party and move it back to the middle, i'm no longer going to be minimizing and mocking the american people. but i don't see that that happening anytime soon. look, my own party has been without a leader at various times when you don't have the white house and it's very hard when you have a congressional minority many here, congressional minority there. it's hard to have one croonfied message. but exactly what bill maher said is the problem is it's feeling like, oh, the american people are just dumb, they're garbage, they are not if sophisticated enough to understand, and the people spoke. they spoke in a big way. mike: jack, ari, gentlemen,

thanks very much. >> good to be with you. >> thank you. ♪ mike: demonstrations marking day 400 of the war in israel amid reports qatar pulling out of its role mediating between hamas and israel. trey yingst has details from tel aviv. hello, trey. >> reporter: hey, jon, good afternoon. this weekend marks 4000 days since the war in the middle east began -- 400 days. thousands of people gathered in the streets of tel aviv overnight to call for the release of the remaining hostages inside gaza. sources say dozens of them are still alive out of the 101 that are left in the strip. the protests come as a regional diplomatic source told fox news that qatar, the main negotiator in ceasefire if talks, is ending it role in the discussions. qatari officials are open to future conversations if both sides show a willingness to end the war. >> i hope all this together the two and a half if months -- of

biden administration and the fact that qataris pressing hamas will connect everything together and finally a ceasefire and a deal will come. >> reporter: as part of the new decision, qatar will also be forcing a hamas to close its political office in doha. inside gaza, israeli forces continue to operate in the northern part of the strip according to the palestinian health ministry, more than 43,000 people have been killed since the war began. that number does not distinguish between civilians versus militants. a recent u.n. report says around 70% are women and children. the israelis say nearly half of the people killed are members of hamas or islamic jihad. with no diplomatic pressure in sight, the americans are still pushing the israelis to distribute humanitarian aid throughout gaza. mike? mike: trey yingst live in tel aviv. trey, thanks very much. an american nurse on vacation in budapest was found

dead in a suitcase after she was reported missing last week. now an irishman is in police dust thety facing charges in her death. stephanie bennet has details. hell -- hello, stephanie. >> reporter: hi, mike. her friends first notified authorities. now, last night family and friends gathered in budapest, making the journey for a candlelight vigil. the 31-year-old, a nurse from portland, oregon, she was on vacation when she went missing after disappearing from a nightclub on november 5th. cc tv footage identified a male suspect who was last seen with mckenzie at that club the night she disappeared. officers have not released the suspect's name but identified him as a 37-year-old irish citizen only giving the initials ltm. while police say he allegedly admitted to investigators that he had met mckenzie in that local nightclub before leaving together for his apartment.

police say the pair had gotten intimate, and he killed her in the process but claimed it was an accident. authorities say the irish suspect then tried to cover it up by cleaning his apartment, hiding mckenzie's body in a wardrobe, then placing her inside of a suitcase before renting a car and driving about 90 miles away where he hid her body in the woods. he was arrested on november 77th. police video shows the suspect guiding authorities through the booze. -- woods. his online searches revealed he looked up how to expose a body and about the competence of the budapest police among others. mckenzie's family have set up a gofundme to help raise money to bring her body back over to the u.s. they described her as the light to our world, a heart of gold. mike? mike: heartbreaking story. stephanie, thanks a lot. wall street's enjoying a postelection rally as a attention turns to main street and the outlook for small businesses and president-elect

>> thanks for having us, mike. mike: so from the fox news voter analysis, opinions about the nation's economy, condition of the nation's economy, 7% saying excellent. 30%, good. 40%, not is good. 24%, poor. what do you make of that, frank? >> well, i'll be honest with you, on wednesday morning you couldn't smack the smile off my face. we had -- we were very excited about what's about the happen to this country. we understand that the no tax on tips is going to be huge for our employees that are here, and we're really looking forward to the next four years. mike: did inflation decide the election, gene? >> yeah, inflation was a big path of it. i think what a lot of people missed when they were looking and seeing inflation was coming down, yeah, it's been coming down, but most of the typical small businesses -- i think frank would also agree -- dealing with a huge cost increase just over the past 3-4

years. so they've been trying to grapple with the cost increase. margins are very tight in food service and restaurant the industry. it makes things really tough. it's tough to hear from the politicians that inflation is under control and everything is okay when you're writing the checks and you're like, no, our costs are much higher. small businesses, they notice that. mike: president-elect trump is talking about using tariffs strategically to try to level the playing field with some of our foreign adversaries. let's play the back and forth on that. >> i'm a little nervous of the markets ooh right now not because of president trump, but some of the things he's talking about like tariffs and where he is on some of his areas of immigration. that's inflationary. so it will be, actually, interesting to see where the markets go. >> i think the tariffs have been mischaracterized. they're a one-time price increase and, you know, nobody knows how to use these tariffs like president trump both for revenue and for negotiating. mike: frank, what do you i make of this issue? >> well, tariffs are -- i think

president trump is going to use them correctly. i don't think he's going to put tariffs on things that are already things we don't make anymore, for example, a television or all the parts that go inside of cars. what he wants to do is he wants to make sure that ford doesn't move, but the parts that go inside the ford that are assembled in this country, they need to stay where they're at, and and i think that's going to be fine. but i do believe that ford needs to stay here, and if they decide to move or chevrolet decided the move, there will be massive tariffs, so much so that it'll be ooh too painful for them to to leave x that's very important for the american worker. mike: gene, what's your takesome. >> best i can tell, two weeks ago i was speaking to furniture manufacturers, and these people are getting crushed by china and other countries that are undercutting pricing and dump doing hair materials on the markets way below where these guys can compete. and we all a know that a lot of

of that stuff is being subsidied by the chinese government and other governments. i can tell you, there was a room full of people that were cheering on president trump's, you know, decision to increase tariffs because i think they strongly believe it will level the playing field for them and protect jobs. mike: gene marks, frank ritchie, thanks very much. >> thank you, mike. take care. mike: it was one year ago when striking actors and studios reached a deal, but production in has struggled to bounce babb. fox business correspondent max gorden is in los angeles with the latest. >> reporter: those we've spoken to in the entertainment industry say hollywood just hasn't been the same since the strike. productions are down, and those behind the scenes are struggling. one union leader we talked to said about 30% of his 1800 members are currently out of work. >> we had folks who were planning on buying a home, and now they -- the conversation we're having instead of them buying a home, they're getting

evicted from hair apartment that that they a lived in. >> reporter: since the strike ended, production has declined, and shoots in hollywood have taken a dive. according to film l.a., shoot days declined in the third quarter of this year by 5% compared to last year. that's especially bad considering quarter three last year was in the middle of the strike. the 5-year average down 36.4%. part of the reason for the hollywood exodus has been increased competition. states like new mexico and georgia and countries like canada and the u.k. offer healthy film incentive programs. governor gavin newsom proposed increasing the tax credit for film and tv production from $330 million a year to $7500 million. >> this is about investing in the future of this industry, the values we hold dear, investing in our creativity, this great cultural export. >> reporter: production workers see the proposed incentives not just as a lifeline for hollywood, but as a final stand. >> if we can't get this extent or this doubling of our tax
