unions though. >> lawrence: brian, i hear and maybe ainsley you can comment on this as well. that apparently part of the plan is not just when it comes to the accountability of these different agencies. but to move some of these agencies out of washington and to some of the other states. >> steve: talked about that for a while. >> lawrence: obviously the state department needs to be in washington. there is a lot of meetings with congressionals. maybe the department of education is in oklahoma or the department of interior is in south dakota. >> steve: they might get rid of education. >> ainsley: elon musk put this on x. he says all actions which by the way did you know his son's name is x? >> brian: really? >> ainsley: he posted this. >> brian: why? >> ainsley: he likes that letter. 4:14 am
it would be cheaper ultimately, but it's going to cost hundreds of millions of dollars in the short-term. they might save billions and trillions. >> brian: or just take over a empty building. do you know how many empty buildings we have in new york city. can't fill them up with commercial real estate. people haven't came back from the pandemic and a lot of companies leaned out. >> steve: let's see what they do. they have got a mandate from donald trump, fix it. that's what they are going to try to do. >> ainsley: if you are getting ready for work it's 13 minutes after the top of the work. now we turn to rich edson at the white house with more on what president biden and president-elect donald trump will be talking about later this morning. rich, fill us in. >> rich: good morning, steve, ainsley, brian and lawrence. what we have got here is president-elect trump returning to the white house for the first time since he left it in 2021. it's the traditional meeting between incoming and outgoing presidents. president-elect trump has been down in mar-a-lago since he wouldn't election. he has been filling out his administration. name be cabinet members. this is the first time president biden and trump will meet in the oval office. biden didn't get the invite four years ago.
4:15 am
it's the first time they will see each other since the debate in june. biden's rough performance led to him getting booted from the democratic ticket. since then biden has called trump a threat to democracy and his supporters garbage. though the white house claims it was only one supporter. trump has called biden stupid and incompetent. white house officials say the president will give trump his take on how he sees things like maintaining support for ukraine. trump is making the white house trip solo. the "new york post" reports melania trump has declined the invitation from jill biden because of the raid on mar-a-lago. at the time the white house maintained biden had no advanced word of the decision. meanwhile, over in the senate, republicans are voting in private to elect a new majority leader. florida senator rick scott has led a public campaign for the position. many in the president-elect's inner circle support him. senators john thune and john cornyn have been pitching fellow republicans in private. meanwhile, president-elect trump has made no official endorsement in that race. back to you guys.
4:16 am
>> brian: thanks so much, rich. so they are going to meet at the hyatt regency. trump is going to meet with the closed door meeting with house republicans that will be great. and then by 11:00, i imagine you have got to be on time for the president, flight. >> steve: what else does he have to do? >> brian: okay. but is he supposed to be there at 11:00. supposed to leave by 12:00. nothing really scheduled for the president-elect after. he just flies back to palm beach. he is leaving it open should they hit it off. >> ainsley: go ahead. >> lawrence: i'm sorry, ainsley, i was going to comment on what brian was talking about, is he going to meet with the republicans. there was a little scuffle with some of the representatives, especially when it comes to the senate, they got that big vote coming up. and they wants -- there are some senators that say they want the vote after the president elect speaks, because he may or may not do an endorsement. >> brian: really? >> lawrence: they think it's critical. he may set a tone. >> ainsley: rick scott is the maga guy. more aligned with mitch mcconnell. also helped elect a lot of these
4:17 am
senators. there is that loyalty factor. this is the secret vote. a lot of people in washington are upset about that. they want transparency. they are not going to get it here. we are not going to know who voted for who. >> steve: right now because the public endorsements, anybody who publicly endorses somebody other than rick scott is getting bee rated on social media and whatnot. however, the public endorsements we know of yesterday, mike lee and marsha blackburn said i'm in rick scott's camp. scott has got seven senators. john thune has got 4. and john cornyn has got 1. the odds are that it's probably going to be either john thune or john cornyn, one of the two of them. and there are no plans, as we see trump force 1 now taxiing down at pbi heading for washington, d.c. they are doing some runway repair. >> lawrence: to ainsley's point real quick. >> steve: it's about a two hour flight. >> lawrence: when it comes to intelligence and things that we don't want to put our servicemen and women at risk.
4:18 am
i understand the secrecy in washington over that i do not understand the secrecy behind a vote that matters so much to the country. i think they should let us know who they are going to voted for. maybe they do the vote in secret. at least tell us who you are going to endorse. >> ainsley: all three republicans, all three have served this country and hats off to them for that i just hope whoever wins works well with donald trump. the american people chose him. >> steve: ainsley, to that point, all three of the candidates have said they support donald trump's plans. but, mr. scott is, of course, the closest one to him. all right,. >> brian: just before we move on. there could be -- they say, a conservative challenger to speaker johnson. >> steve: absolutely. >> brian: who is more conservative jim jordan -- they are friends. they vacation together. >> steve: they ran against each other last time and jim jordan lost. >> brian: in a friendly situation, right? >> steve: well, politics. >> brian: wasn't it one at a time they had a vote and okay jim failed and johnson came in. but, i would say republicans,
4:19 am
you can't be that stupid. president trump says this is the guy. >> lawrence: he already supports him. >> brian: you can't be too conservative and can't be too moderate. have to have somebody who can work with the whole caucus. he is conservative but he has to work with the whole caucus. people have different opinions. they represent different districts. we have been over. this don't blow up johnson again. >> lawrence: also, i think the guy deserves a shot. you can't criticize him for how he worked when there was divided government. >> ainsley: yes. >> lawrence: now you have a trifecta, we think, that is going to happen. give him a shot to see how he governs with that. >> ainsley: everyone -- you might know better because peter is working closely with all of them in washington. i hear he is like you think straight as an arrow. >> lawrence: hilarious. >> ainsley: such a strong christian which is awesome. >> steve: mike johnson. >> ainsley: and your son. mike johnson straight and and as an arrow. he did the impersonation of

trump on air. was that with you. >> lawrence: hilarious. >> ainsley: everyone says is he hilarious, he is fun. >> steve: the problem for him is, you know, because the margin is so narrow it takes one or two to blow everything up and they are talking about one of the things they are going to figure out is that motion to vacate right now you just need one guy who is hacked off at you and you are gone. >> brian: hakeem jeffries under criticism. had you an opportunity to win how could you blow it again? nancy pelosi would have never let that happen. i think she is the most overrated politician way past her prime not as her age but her power i don't mean to a don lemon situation here. i'm just saying ains staying too long. and things change. if you don't change with them. >> brian: she is stabbing everybody in the back and denying it i think she has got to go. >> ainsley: one person shouldn't have that much power, right?

it's the voters who are wrong. they are the ones who are wrong about what is going wrong in our country. they are right. they understand what is going on. it's you who is out of touch, you can't acknowledge a fact this is a problem in communities on the border. the biden-harris administration looked away far too long. the american people bore the brunt of the ramifications of that this new administration is going to have this as priority number one when they get back in the white house. >> ainsley: for people who don't know much about tom homan. let's just go over his resume. new york police officer. he was a border patrol agent. he led ice's enforcement and removal under president obama. then he was the acting ice director under donald trump. he worked, ben, we can't harp on this enough, he worked for two administrations, a republican and a democrat. he just loves this country. it's common sense. he wants to do the right thing and make sure people are not coming across our border, especially criminals.

>> yeah, one of the things that you see there, too. is how much the left has shifted over the years. people talked about obama, you know, and his time in office as being the deporter in chief. he was someone who understood that he actually, in order to, you know, hold together his coalition, he needed to be a little tougher on the border than some of the other democrats there. but the progressive left has taken over the coalition so much that you are not allowed to say that anymore. this -- the obama administration vs. the biden administration, you know, was night and day. up think that one of the things we saw under alejandro mayorkas and the way he approached this whole thing he didn't do his job. for three and a half years he looked the other way on purpose. cared more about allegations of people whipping migrants and the like than did he about securing our border. that's going to change when donald trump gets back into the white house. and it's a big part of the reason why he is heading back there. >> ainsley: all right, ben. thank you so much. say hi to your lovely while meghan mccain for us. >> i will. good to see you. >> ainsley: more "fox & friends" in just a moment. first, we will leave with you a pretty shot of jacksonville,
