health. and my personal favorite from the arizona public health association why r.f.k. as secretary mean the end of evidence based health policies. evidence based elliott? how about this evidence? a record number of americans are suffering from chronic ills ins, one in six adults now has diabetes. by 2050. given current trends, about 61% of adults are predicted to develop cardiovascular disease. so, r.f.k. understands this is a ticking time bomb for our families, for our hospitals, our doctors, our newses, our local state and federal budgets. and all of this is happening by the way as we are spending more on healthcare than ever before. now in 2022, we have good numbers, we spent 4.5 trillion or $13,493 per person on healthcare. that's more than any developed

it would be a long shot? who knows? a house ethics report on gaetz was ready to be released on friday. since he resigned, well, the committee loses jurisdiction over the matter. still tricky dick durbin sees an opening to hurt trump by forcing the reports released to the senate where if past is prolong log we can all be assure that that contents is suring can going to leak. trump's team had to know what the hill reaction to this would actually be. >> a republican friend of mine who is also friends with matt gaetz told me last night he thought this appointment was the worst thing that has ever happened to the country. >> this is the first step likely in trump's revenge tour against the department of justice. >> he is the exhibit a to weaponization. i mean, we are in pure george orwell 1984 land. >> laura: thank you andrew. of course we can't predict what is going to happen or if there is this is a way to force the

senate to accept recess appointments. incoming majority leader john thune is leaving all options on the table. >> and i always believe that you defer to a president when it comes to the people they want in their cabinet. and to do a lot of these important jobs. but, obviously, there is a process whereby we get down and scrub all these nominees and figure out whether or not, one, they are qualified and are they people who are fit to hold these offices? >> laura: well, i certainly hope that as they carry out their advise and consent role, republican senators remember that donald trump is the reason they even have a majority. as republicans fight amongst themselves, democrats plan to use every avenue to block trump even forming and they are admitting this a shadow cabinet. >> we can't let donald trump's extreme maga agenda go unanswered or unopposed. his own defense isn't going to work. we are going to have to go man

on man. we need to borrow from our british friends and it appoint a shadow cabinet to fight back against the worst abuses of a second trump administration. a team from the opposition that mirrors the government's own cabinet members: watch the cabinet closely, publicly challenging, scrutinizing and offering new ideas. it's another form of checks and balances. a quiet guardrail that holds those in power accountable. >> laura: another form of checks and balances? was that in the constitution? i must have missed that? i love when they bring their props by the way. this makes it even more critical for president trump to have all his ducks in a row on the hill before making big appointments. he has always been more effective that way. there's no time to waste. well, while all this plays out. we should also consider the source or sources of this incoming stream of criticism. i mean, these people have been

wrong about pretty much everything. propping up biden's terrible cabinet picks just because they were first, first this or first that. of course, with the help of the friends in the press. >> president-elect joe biden announcing historic picks for top post of his cabinet including former federal reserve chair janet yellen to the country's first woman treasury secretary. >> joe biden's cabinet nominees look like america, quite frankly. diversity in thought, diversity in race and gender and everything. that is what america looks like. >> joe biden has appointed the most diverse cabinet in history. >> laura: that's all that mattered. forget qualifications. that made them qualified because they were diverse. made no sense. by the way, what did mayor pete do to qualify himself to run the department of transportation? mayor of south dakota bennett? south bend? really? what about mayorkas his qualifications gave an invasion of illegal aliens to america.

wanted to finish the job he started in his first term. he intends to drain the swamp and restore trust and accountability in washington. now, this won't be easy. the washington bureaucracy has been around a lot longer than any of the committed smart patriots committed to undoing it. the establishment may have lost this last election to maga republicans. but it is still well-funded and it is still committed to surviving even the reform efforts of elon musk. strategic thinking? strong nominees, and well-placed allies on the hill will make all the difference. the momentum is trump's to lose or use for phenomenal achievement. as for the relentless criticism, always consider the source. and that's the angle. >> laura: joining me now is alina habba, trump's senior adviser and attorney. alina, great to have you on tonight. i want to start with matt gaetz.

what can you tell us about the process of choosing him to be a.g.? was there a lot of consultation with the hill? did you all bring in speaker of the house or any of the other top republicans? >> well, i'm not part of the transition team and, as you know, laura, i always take my confidentiality incredibly seriously but i will say this. matt gaetz is somebody who has always been on the president's radar, has always been america first, whether the radical left likes it or not. he has been very clear about who he is and despite the bullying, which we have seen time and time again and frankly, laura, i'm shocked they have only waited a couple days for more fear-mongering which you just played for the american people is he making selections on people not going to be bullied. we have seen time and time people career politicians act like republican they turn out to be a rhino, they fold and buckle under pressure. these people, his selections, they are not that. and that might be frightening to the cnns, and msnbcs and the

people that put up charts and say that they will not respect the rule of law, the constitution and the separation of powers. but they have got another thing coming. we need to respect the process. the president has to respect the people he is putting in these roles. and frankly, i do. i think he has made great decisions. i'm excited for what's to come. i think america spoke loud lid that they were excited for what's to come on november 5th. >> laura: alina, john brennan, one of our personal favorites, you know who lied the former cia director who lied about hunter biden's laptop had this to say about tulsi gabbard. watch this. >> tulsi gabbard has taken actions and made statements over the past several years that really raise serious questions about her common sense, her judgment, as well as her political sympathies, cozying up to putin as well as to bashar assad. i think really does show that she doesn't have the type of perspective that is needed for somebody who is going to head up these 18 intelligence agencies.

>> laura: alina, so now if you have questions about the progress of the war in ukraine are, our priorities in the war in ukraine, you are a pro-putin apologist? that's where we are today? >> well, it's fear-mongering, also, laura, all i know is i want people who know these people. i want people who know how to handle themselves. let's not forget women, men that have military background, you know, pete hegseth, for instance, they will knock them no matter what. tulsi is a strong woman. frankly she was independent. she was not even a republican until recently. but they turned her. because this is truly the party of radicalization. this is not the party of america first. she is part of the party where we have welcomed strong women, and he is going to crush it. i know she will. and, you know, he has got some nerve, as you said, mr. hide in the laptop. he has some nerve and probably afraid of accountability. to be honest that's what it is. >> laura: yeah, consider the

source of the criticism. alina, is there any circumstance under which, do you believe, after working with president-elect trump for as long as you have, that he would consider pol pulling a nominatif he thought it was doing greater damage to his fantastic momentum that he obviously has? >> president trump, i don't think, would nominate somebody and put them on the front running if he wasn't going to stand behind them. as somebody who has worked with him extensively, these are not people that are new to politics. these are not people with new dirt and information. he knows who these people are. he has gotten to know them closely so have i. they are amazing people. he is not being bamboozled in any way. he doesn't also buckle to pressure. weave know that about president trump. he will fight for his people. and i think you should expect that. he is selecting people that he knows are going to do the job correctly and frankly we do have the senate and i'm sorry, but the american people voted. this and they voted for change. and that's what we're going to have. and it's going to be the most

epic change. he has got a lot to fix from the damage that we have gone through. and we have to do it quickly. >> laura: turn the rocks over alina. everyone needs to see. >> turn the page. >> laura: what is un underneathe rocks. turn the page. you also said you were taking yourself out of the runs as press secretary. a lot of people thought you would be a fabulous press secretary. any other thoughts about the administration in your role? >> i honestly that's between me and president trump and, you know, what i will say the love i got from that. >> laura: oh, shucks, tell us. >> come on, laura, you know me better than that i'm so honored honestly. i have been showered with love. that was not a position i wanted and i want the people that do want it to have their fair shake at it. i know the people that are up there. and they are going to be great and they are going to crush it. you know, it's going to be awesome. >> laura: all right. alina, thank you very much. great to see you as always. all right. trump didn't just run on restoring the economy and law and order. he promised to end the weaponization of government against the people. and tonight there are new

allegations that the fbi used software tools to seek out election related speech on social media. house republicans want answers, joining me now ohio congressman jim jordan, chair of the house judiciary committee and the house subcommittee on the weaponization of government. congressman jordan, explain what allegedly happened here and why it should concern all americans tonight watching? >> they were searching what american citizens were posting and stating and tweeting and going to use that against the very people who they are supposed to serve. i mean, this is why the people that president trump is putting up for these nominations, these key positions, they value freedom. r.f.k. jr. -- we had him as a witness. we had tulsi gabbard in as a witness in front of the weaponization of government committee where they talk about. and the democrats attacked him. the democrats, laura, actually made a motion when r.f.k. jr. came to testify a year and a half ago they made a motion to go to executive session to that no one could hear what r.f.k. jr. was going to testify to in a

hearing on censorship. you can't make this up. so they want to spy on you. they want to censor you. this is about freedom. that's why i love the picks the president is putting forward and this example of what they were doing with social media posts and tweets, this is just another reason why you need those people who value freedom over lockdowns, freedom over censorship. who value the first amendment, why you need them in these key posts. >> laura: and congressman jordan, do you have any sense about what will happen with that house ethics report that was supposed to come out friday? remember, gaetz had been accused of things and no prosecution had been continued. it had been dropped. but dick durbin is trying to get his hands on that report, obviously, to leak it out to hurt president trump. what is your sense on that? >> well, it's my understanding that is not supposed to go public. so, if it's not supposed to under the rules, it shouldn't go public. and what i know about that comeats gaetz is one of the best

members we had on our committee in my time in congress, which has been a i will who. i don't know it there are very few people who have the cross-examination skills he does. i want someone in the justice department who is not going to say moms and dads at school board meeting need to be investigated. i will have someone at the justice department to say it's wrong to do a memorandum and say pro-life catholics are extremists. i want someone at the justice department to tell us who planted the pipe bombs on january 6th. who leaked the dobbs opinion who put the cocaine at the white house instead of all the other stuff they seem to be focused on. >> laura: congressman, is it your belief tonight he will be confirmed as the next attorney general? >> well, that's up to the senate. what i know is what -- how matt -- the effective member he was on our committee. i know he is committed to freedom just like tulsi gabbard, just like r.f.k. jr. just like all the other people president trump is putting up. and i have total confidence in president trump and the people he is selecting for these key
