candidate. we told you she was. and that campaigning with the never trumpers, liz cheney? come on, that was a huge mistake. right now when you think about this, at this moment, democrats are kind of facing the same challenges that the g.o.p. faced after romney lost in 2012 do you stay with the same approach an argue manies or go in a different direction to try to reach more voters. >> in the g.o.p. back then, the division was between the old guard represented by folks like jeb bush who kind of stuck to the 2005 era messaging veciousz success the newcomer on the scene donald trump and all of his followers. of course we know that trump believed that to win, the g.o.p. had to reconnect with the working class. and that included ethnic minorities. even if that meant that we needed to change our positions on military intervention, war, doppler radar indicated, and immigration. of course, trump won, attracting hispanics, young voters, and more black voters.

apparently opposition is building against gaetz in the senate. but, still, consider the weaponization as senator haggerty said that biden's perfect resume attorney general merrick garland is accused of. it's stunning. there is simply no logical way to defend corrupt government institutions that have wasted hundreds of billions of dollars to work against us, not for us. and i don't believe in the end any hobbit democrat can defend how the biden doj perverted the rule of law to try to destroy president trump. the voters rejected all of that jack smith starred in some of the best campaign commercials for trump. we all saw the prosecution for what they were. and he has had to close up shop. so, if i were a democrat, thank goodness i'm not, but, if i were, i would never again try to defend the obamas. i would never again try defend biden or tie myself to cheney or adam kinzinger or anyone like

that. they are total dead ends. if they couldn't save new 2024, they sure as heck aren't going to save you in 2028. but there hasn't really been an open fight for the leader of the democrat party probably since barack obama and hillary ran against each other in 2008. and as for any other leadership positions on the hill, hasn't been much of a fight there either. for years just operated like a well-oiled machine. usually one of the usual suspects. but now that well-oiled machine that gave you people like pelosi and schumer it's broken down. you have to open up the hood and start fixing things democrat have own choice to make stick with the nonsense. keep catering to the never trumpers. stay with the liberal approach to education or work with us. work with us on trade, work with us on immigration. work with us on our industrial policy. and all of us work together to rebuild our cities.

joining me is ari fleischer and brian brenberg co-host of "the big money show" on fox business. ari, news tonight in the "the washington post" that this seems to be sources within the trump transition teamed that the administration is corresponding, perhaps pulling the nomination of pete hegseth as secretary of defense after sexual assault allegations emerged. the team react to this saying that mr. hegseth has vigorously denied any and all accusations, no charges were filed. and we look forward to his confirmation as u.s. secretary of defense so we can get started on day one and make america safe again and great again but, nevertheless, these sources someone talking to the "the washington post" after apparently the president was blindsided by this report. ari, this is nasty politics. and you and i are used to this. we have seen it happen for many, many years, what is your

reaction to this? two things, laura, every time you see a story no sources everybody is anonymous. recommendation to you don't lose any sleep to it. sometimes those stories turn out to be right but often total fabrications and totally wrong people just free-lancing it that don't represent the president of the united states. that's one. number two, i would be shocked if donald trump did that that would be so out of character for donald trump to tuck his tail and run from something like this on the basis of anonymous allegations? how many allegations like that was donald trump put through? and he made his way fighting through all of those. so, i would be shocked if donald trump would do that to pete hegseth on the basis of an anonymous accusation that no one has any idea if there is any truth to it. >> laura: yeah. there is apparently, again, "the washington post" reporting and we just have to report this that that there was a nondisclosure agreement that somehow was

discovered and, again we don't know anything more about this, but this is the leading news tonight. but donald trump has stuck by his people and he has been subject to similar, you know, accusations and, brian, people watching across the country and seen pete on fox and doing many things for veterans. nevertheless, you are under the mike scope in washington and it's an ugly, ugly process but, you know, transparency ultimately probably will win out here ugly process. ugly people coming on saying pete is a known white supremacist? what are you talking about? nobody that knows the guy would ever say that about him. >> laura: a joke. >> because the folks who want to criticize pete, is he going to go through all -- i have known him for 4 h 440 years.

bob casey wants those ballots to be casted. he does not have any authority to have sat back for four years and demanded unquestionable loyalty to elections results but now that he is on the ear side of it, ghabsd some kind of additional ballots to be put. >> laura: would the number of ballots they are talking about actually overturn the election results? is it even enough? >> no. so marc elias, he has his dirty little fingerprints all on this. this is the same strategy he use new 2008 in the minnesota race with senator franken and norm coleman that race was guided by a few hundred votes. eventually after marc elias drapgd out the recount for months franken won by 312 votes. the margins we are talking about in pennsylvania are in the tens of thousands. bob casey lost fair and square is he not willing to concede. >> laura: i mean, again, they accused trump of being election denier. and they demanded that he accept

♪ lure lawyer the murder trial for jose ibarra starting today in athens, georgia he is charged with the killing of nursing student laken riley. remember ibarra allegedly killed riley while she was jogging near the campus of university of georgia. fox news madison scar pena in the courtroom and has the latest details for us. >> testimony wrapped up for the day just over two hours ago. we have already heard from several witnesses so far, including all three of riley's roommates, the cop who found riley's lifeless body, and the crime scene investigator. and we do want to warn our viewers that the details in this case are disturbing. the prosecutor says that ibarra bashed in riley's skull repeatedly when she refused to be his rape victim. >> the evidence will show that

laken fought. she fought for her life. show fought for her dignity. >> the prosecutor also says riley and eye bar rance interaction was long. she says really struggled with ibarra for over 15 minutes. we have seen video evidence of ibarra throwing a bloody jacket into a dumpster, body cam footage of when police found riley and various photos of the horrific crime scene. but ibarra's defense says the d.n.a. evidence in this case is just not strong enough. >> the evidence in this case is very good that laken riley was murdered. the evidence that jose ibarra killed laken riley is circumstantial. >> ibarra remained somewhat

heartbreaking and so shocking and so upsetting. your reaction to this? >> well, it's an appalling case. you and i talked about it at the time. we were wondering why they charged -- georgia has that statute of interfering in a 911 call. we surmised at the time i recall that she very well may have managed to the hit the emergency button and call 911. and that has been born out as has a lot of the other speculation we had at the time. is he innocent until proven guilty. but the evidence really seems to be mounting against him and the case is moving very quickly. >> >> laura: well, she resisted him. he was trying to rape her. >> yeah. >> laura: you could hear the pounding on her in that 911 call. we think of the thousands and thousands of criminals that have crossed our border. under biden and harris. and we don't even know the damage that's been done to the country just in terms of violent

>> laura: women's volleyball team back in the headlines more shocking details about transathletes. the captain and several teammates have now filed a lawsuit against the university in the mountain west conference and the suit is alleging that slusser's safety, dignity and rights had been endangered by the presence of the trans athlete and that athlete was also given a scholarship over a biological female player who was left financially and emotionally impacted. but it gets worse. the lawsuit also alleges that one of slusser's teammates learned about an alleged plan by fleming to ensure san jose state would lose an october 3rd match and set up colorado state player that lie a jones to spike

reagan. >> laura: the u.s. wastes millions of dollars of our taxpayer money sending money to foreign countries. we sent billions in aid but we send $5,479,000 to experiments on cats. just a fear 20,000 ecuador. two minute documentary and the u.s. state department sent 58.7 million to china between 2017 and 2022. 100,000 of that went to a gender equality initiative. now, thomas, these are funny, sad and funny. but that's really just a drop in the bucket because gary cohn who used to be with trump made a good point. i think we will play the soundbite of how you really have to cut money. watch. >> here's where you are going to get the money. make get the money by making these organizations more efficient. invest in technology. i don't think there is high end computing in the government. use modern technology to make the government more efficient and cut down on the administrative costs.

the administrative costs is huge in the u.s. government. >> laura: is he right about that, thomas? >> 80 percent of the money that is spent on computer systems or what is called legacy systems. somebody is sold nobody left to fix them when they break. absolutely needs to be made. again that wasn't around under president reagan's effort in the grace commission. that is extremely important. obviously elon musk and vivek ramaswamy understand how that works. you could just deliver so much more at such -- that's what people want. do what the government is going to do, get them the services they need and don't spend so much and duplicate what you are doing. >> laura: well, thomas, does it make sense to send some of these departments out of washington all together and to, you know, interior should be like in montana or, you know, energy should be in texas or is that
