ibarra and lay out their case against 26-year-old jose ibarra. >> on monday, the prosecution picks up where they left off and they will finish off witnesses they will need but still have to hear about the cause and manner of death. that is one thing watching for. we haven't seen the medical examiner testify and both sides quite frankly very good in this case and the prosecutor obviously has a lot to work with. the defense attorneys and that position to play a very, bad hand of cards they have been dealt. >> nine people had taken the stand so far after striking opening 8 minutes from both sides and the prosecutor said jose ibarra attempted to rape riley that they she was murdered. but the evidence is not strong enough to link ibarra to the crime. for small athens court room filled with family and friends

clogs he allegedly wore with a hole and the thumb to allow for the thumbprint. we see the video of him what appears to be walking to the dumpster to dispose of the clothing subsequently found to have his dna and laken riley's. it is a very compelling narrative and the defense will have their work cut out for them. >> ainsley: while hunting, painting out to hunting for women and peeping tom case earlier that day and then the gloves. what does that tell you? does he go with a motive? >> it really does seem that way and the statement at the top inflammatory from the prosecutor and compromising and the judge that he was out on the hunt and that is just something that lodges in the mind of the fact finder here. he was out earlier. he tries to get into the home apparently have an employee of

vga. he has with him and this is interesting, he has with him a cup subsequently found closer to the scene of laken riley. but yet, the cup is observed of the video at the peeping tom seen. that is why it is important to get the earlier incident into the same case. they got a hold of that cup and tested for dna. the officer testified it smells like alcohol. maybe he was intoxicated and had this on his mind. and fortunately for laken riley, tragically, he ends up countering her. >> brian: the case makes it look more like a devastating conviction. paul, thank you so much. we look forward to carrying out and monitoring it the rest of the day, paul mauro, thank you. let's check in with dana perino on her show and i would imagine carrying on this trial. >> absolutely and a wonderful show as always and we will try

>> steve: a growing number of republican and rural counties across the country up and down the west coast feel steam rolled by democrat-led governments beginning in oregon. >> brian: the greater idaho moment has 13 counties voting to join idaho. >> ainsley: with more is spokesperson matt mccaul. >> hello, comp morning. >> ainsley: there is traction in illinois and california and oregon for these movements. they feel steam rolled by these blue-led cities and they want to separate. how is it going and how does it work? are you able to do it? >> yeah, so it's going well. what you are seeing across our country we have a very stark urban rural divide and we've seen the maps that happen after

the election. the entire country is red and a few blue dots sprinkled about. what you are seeing in oregon and illinois and california is that people in these rural areas, people across the country are saying it doesn't make sense for these metro areas that vote completely different than the rest of the state or different than the rural areas with different politics and culture and different way of life doesn't make any sense for them to dictate policy to rural areas or vice versa. what people are saying is that we want to use the political tools at our -- that we have available to change our borders like in oregon we want to move the border west so that eastern oregon can be part of idaho and the people in eastern oregon conservative and rural can get their state government from idaho. the people in 13 counties have voted and said yes. idaho legislature has said they are open to talks and the governor of idaho say they are

open to talks. we are making progress making it happen. >> steve: we have covered this particular aspect of it for a couple of years now, matt. the urban/rural divide is real but to make it happen you will have to include the state legislature, which in a blue state is a tough row to hoe. >> that's where we're stuck. idaho is a willing partner, it's the democrat-controlled majority legislature in salem that is holding this back. but part of the way we're going to make this happen is the vast majority of people in the united states haven't heard of greater idaho and don't know about new illinois, new california or new movements trying to get better government matched ouch to people. part of the way we make inroads is that we raise awareness by coming on shows like this and people say most americans don't know that there are people in
