>> i'm jesse watters along with judge jeanine pirro, jessica tarlov, katie pavlich, and greg gutfeld. it's 5:00 in new york city, and this is "the five." you are looking live at texas. president-elect donald trump and elon musk taking off right as we speak, blasting that big and beautiful rocket doing a test flight of their largest and most powerful spacecraft ever. and attempting a tricky maneuver that involves steering the booster back into the mechanical arms or chopsticks of the launch tower. it's not just rockets, elon musk is also about to blast government waste into outer space as he gears up to lead the department of government for the period and he's giving us a sneak peek of what they are going to cut. why does our government need $1 million to study if cocaine makes japanese quail more promiscuous? as you see, donald trump gazing

at that large and beautiful rocket taking off in south texas, what goes through your mind? >> japanese quail? either way, elon musk has a great sense of humor. he's having his rocket takes off in boca chica which is spanish for smallmouth. i bet you didn't know that. that is why you come here. this is a great metaphor for this period of time. it is a symbolic moment for many of us for having new beginnings, we are charting a different path of positive path. it's an interesting contrast between private and public enterprise. musk is all about operating utmost efficiency, being lean, being effective. we are comparing that to the government -- which is all about being expansive. somehow being expansive means you are better. but it is not. it is not at all. but it creates is a bloated bureaucracy that becomes parasitic to the host. that is why d.o.g.e. is

necessary. he's trying to return us to the idea that the most efficient way of doing things is lean. he fired thousands of people from twitter. the result was a leaner better x that lost its echo chamber. you are -- your liver returning to normal after giving up booze. he looks at companies and goes why is the hr department larger than the salesforce? why are there more administrators on colleges than teachers? i think he is trying to show what you can do without any of this bloat. >> i don't believe they have dei at spacex. look at what we are witnessing. >> they are very efficient. they hire based on who can get the job done. to accomplish the dream that elon musk is done and do these incredible things which obviously donald trump was built an empire rebuilding the new york city skyline.

actually very much appreciates and understands that the government makes these things more difficult rather than easier. also there is a national security component to this. donald trump established the space for us during first term. that can be helpful. also there is the interesting component of them try to recycle some of the boosters that they use because of course in a private company, you have to use the money that you have. you don't get to spend like the government and abuse. you don't have more coming in the door just because you want to do a special project here and there. it's great that the president is there. i'm sure you will see elon musk as an advisor on what they can do in space moving forward. >> it does look like the rocket might be coming back down. >> chopsticks alert. >> caught in the chopsticks. >> i love this. this is the coolest thing about elon musk that he does things like this and that he has the vision and puts the right people in place to create something like this.

looking back, there are many autopsies as to what happened in the election. one of the most important factors was elon musk for trump. he spent $140 billion when all was said and done. the impact that he had especially in younger male voters as a sign of what entrepreneurialism can look like, what innovation can look like what a person who is neurodivergent and does a little bit in his own wacky way and is a massive success can do. i think it was a major selling points of that ticket that you were going to be getting the presence of someone like elon musk. there is stuff that i disagree with him about that we will see how much she will be able to cut through d.o.g.e. you need defense and social security if you are trying to take a bite out of the bloat. it is also. >> america's adventures into outer space, something that has been inspiring for the american people. >> is one of the things that

bring the american people together. trump started the space force during his first term. it is just inevitable that this marriage between musk and trump would occur given the fact that you know, musk was someone who, you know, has this incredible mind and, you know, is talking about actually colonizing mars. you know, we were the first to go onto the moon. with the idea that we would be able to actually colonize mars would be incredible. you know, trump is such a great entrepreneur that he sees the endless possibilities and the ambition and the drive and the success of someone likes nine. and he recognizes that musk has the ability to advantage of mankind. some of the people on the left are so upset because trump is there with musk and fire they together? we have to realize that musk is someone who benefits all of us

donald trump's administration. he's been down at mar-a-lago giving advice and x giving his takes on who he thinks should work in the administration. he's had trouble with the administrative state through the interior department trying to get permits. he's having trouble getting them if you are a small business, if you are in a different field of business, you're going to have trouble with the federal government which is why he is so interested in being part of d.o.g.e. on the issue of cutting government waste, unless you are to go after their big "entitlement programs" it's gonna be difficult to get in the federal debt. i think it's a matter of respect for your citizenry. elon musk at madison square garden rally that all government spending is taxation. that is absolutely true. when you have a government spending a million dollars to see if cocaine makes japanese quail more promiscuous can answer reflection of the government how people taking money from the private sector who are working everyday to make

>> it's been 2 weeks. is kamala harris going to get a third shot in 2028 from the democrats? >> this is usually how it goes. she is top of mind for everyone. it is more likely sniffing around the possibility of her running for california governor then coming back to do this. i think the 2020 primary is going to be full of very interesting characters with a lot of good stuff to run on. you saw that the dnc, people like josh shapiro, gavin newsom, people with great executive experience and records to show off. what i think was interesting to see today, dan osborne who was the independent candidate in nebraska, he narrowly lost a union leader by a navy veteran. someone who would not associate with either party at all lost a new group to get new working-class candidates on the ballot. that is the kind of energy that will be really good for the

loss and ran and won. but the big question is, the more she was on the campaign trail, though where she became. the more we saw of her. everybody was so happy when she first came out because she wasn't joe biden. she could actually walk on a stage and actually maneuver herself. but, you know, we don't know what the world is going to be like in 4 years. i don't know if we can predict who is going to be ahead. i think right now with kamala harris and 41% is because her name is out there right now. but they don't show in this is that the next candidate and with the next highest candidate at 16% is unsure. people i think are looking for someone else. gavin newsom at 8%. he never got involved in kamala's race. he was reserving himself.

she is beating him as of today. that is really today. and in the end, the democrats really have to analyze themselves and what they did. i don't know if they can sit there and say, let's see if we can get the working class back. no, you have to go where the working class are right now. they are not going to come to you because they are not buying what you're selling. they are not into this elitist concept of paying a hollywood elite to show up as though they are going to convince americans that this is the right person to vote for. everything about how they are thinking is not really relevant to what americans are thinking, especially working americans who are hungry and who have never before, i believe, felt as distanced from the democrat party and for good reason as they do right now. >> are we talking about 2028?
