ago democratic senator bob casey has finally conceded to republican dave mccormick, he will join us, dave mccormick in just a few moments. first, trump's pick for attorney general, well, matt gaetz, he dropped out writing on x that his confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the trump-vance transition. trump moved quickly though and just moments ago nominated former florida attorney general pam bondi as gaetz's replacement. now, she served on the opioid and drug abuse commission during trump's first term. she spent 8 years as florida a.g. had an esteemed record and more than 18 years as a prosecutor before that. she is terrific. joining me now charlie hurt, "washington times" opinion editor. katie pavlich, both are fox news contributors. charlie, this gaetz thing an understatement that it was becoming a distraction. and people, i think, watching this tonight and hearing this news are frankly breathing a

department of justice in terms of going after political enemies, but you are also dealing with a lot of big problems in america. the fentanyl crisis. terrible, you know, drug cartels and the agenda the president wants to put forward when it comes to dealing with mexico on that issue. so there is a lot that she is going to have to handle and her experience as the attorney general one of the biggest states in the country for 8 years is really going to serve her well in that position. >> laura: yeah, i think that's exactly right. panel, i want to bring in david schoen, former impeachment attorney for president trump. we remember that impeachment. it was pam bondi, jay sekulow, pat s cipollone, pat philbin. it was all star legal cast and alan dershowitz, thank you. and they all did a fantastic job. and she was -- she was very calm as i recall and i think to the president very reassuring in her approach. yeah, she is not a bomb thrower but, man, does she have the experience for this job.

>> she is going to zoom through the confirmation process. i say zoom through. you have a number of people in that process who don't want to see that happen, frankly, as we have seen from the spectacles of other confirmations in the past. but, on the merits, she is going to be confirmed. remember, the starting place is article 2 section 2. it is the president's prerogative. and while we often talk about hamilton's federalist 76 and the role of congress, and it is very important, hamilton also emphasized that only the president really is the appropriate person to have that choice. based on the criteria that he thinks is appropriate. she is going to get questioned about certain things in the past that, you know, reported in the news and so on. and the america first business is going to get, you know, bernie sanders going. and so on. but, she is a smart pick, i think, for what he wants. is he comfortable with her as i couldn't know one of your guests said and i think she is going to sail through, frankly. >> again, she is really hard worker. she has incredible experience.
