minister justin draw doe last night -- trudeau last night at mar-a-lago. trump said they had a, quote, very productive meeting and discussed immigration can and trade. the meeting came days after trump threatened a 5% tariff -- 25% tariff on canadian goods as soon as he takes office. trump announcing just moments ago he's picking charles kushner, jared's father, to be ambassador to france. like trump, charles kushner is a real estate developer. he was convicted nearly 202 years ago of -- 20 years ago of illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion and witness tampering, but he was pardoned by trump just days before his first term ended. more on that in a moment. but first -- ♪ jonathan: the nationwide spread of tren de aragua now stretching to new york city. remember, of course, this surveillance video of an apartment complex in aurora, colorado? it went viral after residents of

the building raised concerns about gang activity. well, fox can now confirm that two of the men in that footage were arrested this week in new york city and are, indeed, members of tren de aragua. welcome to "fox news live," i'm jonathan hunt. anita: and i'm anita vogel. eric and arthel are off today. the nypd arrested both alleged gang members wednesday along with 13 others. "the new york post" reports police conducted a months-long investigation into the group for alleged drug trafficking and credit card scams. c.b. cotton is in new york with the very latest. hi, c.b.. >> reporter: hi, anita. they were peddling in credit card fraud, violence and selling heroin and fake weed. i.c.e. tells me both men crossed illegally into the country last year near the border in el paso, texas. now they're back in federal

custody facing deportation after being arrested this week in what the new york post says was a major drug and gun bust with these men and 13 other suspected venezuelan gang members. this isn't their first run-in with police. both men were wanted in aurora, colorado, on felony charges of first-degree burglary and menacing with a fire arm for another incident which went viral this fall. police say the video shows meneses and other armed men breaking into an awe a aurora, colorado, apartment complex. shortly after, the property management company doubled down on claims the complex had been taken over by tren de aragua members. at the time local officers said none of the men in this video had been linked to any criminal organization, but now identify confirmed to -- two of the men in this widely-circulated video are, indeed, tren de aragua members arrested here in new york city. incoming border czar tom homan

saying these are the cases that'll be prioritized for deportation during the upcoming trump administration. finish. >> >> tren de aragua, they're on notice. their days of committing crimes against u.s. citizens in this country are coming to an end. we're going to hunt them down, we're going to the arrest them, we're going to deport them. >> reporter: a spokesperson for the u.s. attorney's office for the southern district of new york has declined to comment, so right now it's unclear what charges that they will face. back to you. anita: all right. c.b. cotton, thank you so much for that live report. jonathan: border patrol agents this week announced the seizure of more than 25 the pounds of fentanyl inside a suspicious car they stopped in san diego, and that's just one of the major busts made near the southern border recently. christina coleman is live in los angeles with more. hi, christina. >> reporter: hi, jonathan. yeah, border patrol has been busy intercepting huge amounts of or narcotics. they just announced they seized packages containing more than 25

the pounds of fentanyl. that's' enough deadly doses to potentially kill more than 5 million people. border patrol found the fentanyl hidden in a sedan about 70 miles north of the u.s./mexico border in south orange county, just about a 60 miles south of los angeles. just within the last fiscal year alone law enforcement and border patrol san diego sector seized approximately 17,400 pounds of cocaine, 98,000 pounds of meth and at least 65000 pounds of fentanyl. and as we've within reporting, president-elect donald trump is threatening to impose sweeping tariffs on china, mexico and canada if they don't crack down on all the smuggling, migrants and drugs across our borders. >> we know for sure that china is intentionally dumping fentanyl into mexico to get it into the united states. and president trump's, you know, using economic leverage to stop this. >> reporter: just a few weeks

office just announced that in october the state's fentanyl task force seized over 11.7 million pills -- 1.7 -- at a street value of $12 million. staggering numbers there, jonathan, just very disturbing. jonathan: and so many families suffering so much tragedy because of fentanyl. christina coleman with us here in l.a., thanks so much. anita? anita: let's bring in arizona congresswoman debbie lesko. she's leaving office next month but was elected to join the board of supervisors in maricopa county, the most populace county in the state of arizona. congresswoman, congratulations on your new position. >> thank you so much. it's great to be on. anita: you're welcome. i want the to -- let's get right into it. i want to talk about the border and the numbers of encounters that we have seen over the last eight years. if we can put those numbers up, you can see, look at that, it has really skyrocketed under the biden administration.

the numbers are just through the roof there. how do you think the incoming trump administration can change this and bring those numbers down? and, you know, we heard tom homan in the last reporter piece there talking about targeting tren de aragua and really cracking down on the border. >> well, i can't tell you how thankful i am that the voters elected president trump. things are really going to change. as you know when president trump was in the office before, the numbers were way down. and then once biden and harris got in, the numbers of border crossers went way up. there's a major difference in belief systems between my democratic colleagues and my republican colleagues. we believe in law and order, we we believe in securing the border. that's why when i was in the state legislature in arizona before congress, we passed a really strong immigration bill, suspect b. 1070, in 2010 because

obama was in office then. and when i've been in congress, we passed h.r. 2 out of the house to try to secure the border. the democrats fought us every single inch of time. this time even in the state of arizona we've passed a ballot measure so that we can try to e enforce border laws here. our democratic governor posed it. and so -- opposed it. so i am so thankful that we finally got president trump back in to secure our border and keep our communities safe. anita: well, talking about -- speaking of the ballot measure, i think you're talking about proposition 314, is that correct? >> that is. anita: there you to go. it's the up on the screen. so, essentially, the biggest thing it does is it gives tools to local law enforcement and police to arrest illegal migrants and take them to detention centers. i mean, that's something that normally only federal officials have the right to do. so how is that going to change

things in your state? >> well, it's certainly going to help. and the republican legislature here in arizona got that on the ballot. the governor fought them all of the way, but in order to get a around her they have to refer this to the ballot. and what 63% of the voters in arizona did was approve if it. now, it's based on the similar laws already going into effect, so you know the texas similar law is already from the court system. -- in the court system. so once that gets approved and into law, then the arizona law will go into effect, i think, 600 days later. and so it's -- 600 days late later -- 60 days. other things, however, like not giving benefits to illegal immigrants, making sure that employers use e-verify and other things that will go into effect immediately. anita: uh-huh, yeah. well, we'll see what happens with that proposition. like you said, it does depend on

what happens in texas. so i want to move on to to another topic that is affected by the border, and that is this gang, tren de aragua. that really started, we started hearing about them in colorado, and now if you can see this map we have up, they are present in many other states around the country encolluding your state. including your state. this is a very dangerous gang. we heard tom homan just earlier on the broadcast saying they are the number one target for him. he wants to to remove these people from the country. what kind of havoc are hay raising this in your state, and to how courageous do you think they are? >> well, i think they're very dangerous. i mean, they're a gang, they're a cartel, and as we've seen throughout the country they're being arrested. they've raped children, murdered, all types of terrible things. so, again, i am so thankful that president trump is coming in because he's not going to put up with this stuff and neither is

mike seidell is just crazy enough to be out there. he's near buffalo with the latest. mike? >> reporter: lake effect snow is piling up downward of all the great lakes and especially here just off lake erie. we're about an hour down the lakefront from buffalo. and, by the way, in buffalo, the city, the airport, not a flake of snow. they're going to get little, if any, of this because of the wind direction. we've got plenty of snow here, look at the yardstick. you got to use yardstick, we're up to 222 inches -- 22 inches. some areas approaching 3 feet in erie county, pennsylvania. the big issue has been travel including the new york state thruway, i-90. that's the entrance and exit, but from hamburg back towards buffalo all the way to the pennsylvania line it's closed in both directions. and so semis are trying to get around that, and this morning as we were driving from mayville up

♪ anita: president-elect trump said he had a very productive meeting with canadian prime minister justin trudeau last night at mar-a-lago in florida. trump says they talked about the illegal blow of drugs -- flow of drugs and fair trade deals. the meeting comes as trump threatens steep tariffs on canadian products. mark meredith is live in waste palm beach, florida, with more -- west palm beach, florida. what else can you tell us about that meeting? >> reporter: good afternoon to you. well, the keyword is productive, like you said. that was the first indication we got are from president-elect trump how he felt of this meeting with the canadian prime minister at his mar-a-lago club. this was a meeting that was kept fairly quiet until trudeau's plane landed in west palm beach just last night. this meeting came not long after trump had threatened both canada and mexico with 25% tariffs unless if both countries did more to beef up border security and stop the flow of drugs into the u.s. on truth social today trump

talked about what happened with trudeau. he said i maid it very clear9 that the united states will no longer sit idly by as our citizens become victims to the scourge of the drug epidemic caused mainly by fentanyl pouring in from china. too much death and hardship. prime minister trudeau has made a commitment to work with us to to end this terrible devastation of u.s. families. now, we are waiting to see what trudeau has to say about this meeting today, any official statement that would come from the canadian government. reporters had the chance to catch up with him briefly as he was heading out of the airport hotel he was staying in. here's what he had to say. >> reporter: prime minister, was it a productive meeting with the president-elect? >> it was a -- [inaudible] conversation. >> reporter: an excellent conversation. we'll look to see, again, if there's additional fallout from the meeting at mar-a-lago. today trump is threatening additional or tariffs on so-called bric countries, brazil, russia, india, china as

they are looking to create a new standard on the economic market that would counter the power of the dollar. this is what trump had to say: the idea that the brics countries would try to move away from the dollar while we stand by and watch is over. we require a commitment from these countries they will neither create a new currency, nor back any other currency to replace the mighty u.s. dollar. a new tariff threat happening this afternoon. president biden has urged trump to tread carefully when it comes to tariffs. on thanksgiving bind told reporters he felt this could be counterproductive and could even hurt two close u.s. allies. we'll look to see if the president-elect has any response to that at some point over the next few days. anita? anita: yeah. and we'll look to see what former adversary might show up there next, mark. china all mean? i have no yoked but, fortunately -- no idea, we are joined by dominic that vel la, cio, excuse me, of leventhal global advisers. dominicing thank goodness you're here to explain everything to our viewers. >> thank you, jonathan. jonathan: what does it mean in pant if call terms for ordinary americans like me and all our viewers if these tariffs are imposed by the incoming president? >> yeah. so that would actually be the worst case scenario, right, jonathan? in this case both mexico and canada deliver a great amount of goods, manufactured goods, into this country. and if those kinds of tariffs are imposed, either the the company 'em porting that -- importing that product into our country has to eat that tax, or that tax gets passed on to the consumer, and that's very inflationary.

so if you think about the auto industry which really dominates exports out of mexico, dominates exports out of canada, the cost of those vehicles could theoretically go up significantly to the consumer which would be inflationary, or a gm and a ford, a stellantis, they would have to eat those costs which means their profits would go down. so if they were imposed, it could be really significant -- jonathan: we have a graphic here of some of the kind of products that might be affected. you were mentioning cars, obviously. also computers, avenue cad avocados -- avocados. i don't have a great concern about avocados and strawberries, but you start the touching my tequila and beer, i'm going to get sit set by that. do you think this threat is merely a negotiating ploy and we will never actually see hose the kind of tariffs, or do you think there is a real chance they might happen? >> no, i honestly think the first.

i think this is president-elect trump's negotiating soil. -- style. you can see it already, trudeau down in florida. we've had a response from the president of mexico. nobody wants this. we have a free trade agreement actually negotiated by trump that's worked extremely well. no one wants this tax being paid. and don't forget these countries themselves could reciprocate and tax our goods and services. again, nobody wants an economic war especially with two of our best trading partners. jonathan: so it because seem to be effective in getting everybody's attention. prime minister trudeau trotting down to mar-a-lago pretty darn quickly after the president-elect made the threat. if it's that simple, dominic, why haven't other presidents cone it? >> well, clearly -- done it? well, clearly, the biden administration had a very different policy, and we saw what happened with illegal immigration into this country. president trump has really put an emphasis on stopping this or at least slowing it down as much

as possible. we cannot do this by ourselves. i don't care what anybody says. we need help. and that means both on the mexican border side, the canadian border side we need their officers, their military, their government to assist us in this very important project. and, frankly, they're going to to cooperate. they have to to cooperate. jonathan: and, dominic, quickly on the brics countries that a mark meredith was talking about, the threat to not abandon the u.s. dollar, what does that mean for order mare consumers, if anything? -- ordinary consumers? >> well, today nothing. the wbrics are russia and brazil, india and china, and they're trying to create their own economic unit. and part of that is not to have to rely on the u.s. dollar. there are all kinds of global implications. they've been talking about creating their own currency. it's very difficult is and, more important, the world economy

year, typically the first family stays until sunday. he's leaving tonight to return to the white house to mark world aids day tomorrow, and then he takes another trip, this time to africa. he's visiting the nation of angola. anita? anita: looks like he'll have some time to get into that book, lucas. thank you so much nor that live report. lucas tom lynn son -- tomlinso- >> reporter: long trip. jonathan: russia's brutal invasion of ukraine will mark its third year in february, and today a possible turning point. for the first time, ukrainian president volodymyr zelenskyy is indicating he may be open to some sort of land for a peace deal to finally end the fighting, but he wants something first, nato membership. and remember, when vladimir putin first invaded ukraine three years ago, he said one of his main points was that ukraine should never be allowed to join nato. zelenskyy said in the wake of that invasion he would never give up one inch of ukrainian

territory. well, now we apparently have a deal perhaps which would require or both men to reverse those positions. madeleine rivera has the latest. >> reporter: ukrainian president volodymyr zelenskyy has been very clear in the past ukraine will not cede any territory to russia. on friday though while speaking with sky news, zelenskyy suggested a path forward to owned what he calls the hot stage of the war. >> translator: if we want to stop the hot stage of the war, we should take under nato umbrella the territory of ukraine that a we have under our control. that's what we need to do fast. and then ukraine can get back the other part of its territory diplomatically. >> reporter: zelenskyy was adamant that any proposal must first be extended to all parts of the country within its internationally-recognized border, and here he explains why. >> translator: you can't give invitation to just one part of a country. why? because, thus, you would recognize that ukraine is only that territory of ukraine and

the other one is russia. >> reporter: and that would be against the country's law because the ukrainian constitution prohibits the recognition of any russian-occupied territory as are russia. zelenskyy's comments show he appears to be open to a cease fire deal that will immediately include parts of the country under russian control. it's unclear if nato would ever consider such a deal. during its summit in july, nato insisted ukraine was on a anker reversal path to membership, but the the need to resolve territorial dispute is the a major sticking point. zelenskyy says he also wants to work with president-elect trump to make sure ukraine has its biggest supporter. trump has promised to end the war before inauguration day. madeleine rivera, fox news. jonathan: maddie, thank you, from washington. such an interesting thought the here that zelenskyy might finally be willing to consider giving some territory to the

russians, to vladimir putin, who's brought so much devastation to ukraine. that would be a very, very hard sell to so many ukrainians who have suffered so much over the last three years. we'll see if that keel gathers any steam. anita? anita: yeah, indeed. very interesting development there, jonathan. meanwhile, north korean leader kim jong un is vowing to con to support russia's -- continue to support russia's war effort there. sate media reports russia's defense minister met with kim yesterday. north korea sent thousands of troops to russia last month. so let's bring in gore doone chang -- gordon chang, senior fellow at the gatestone institute. great to have you today, and i'd like you right off the top to react to what jonathan was talking about, the idea that zelenskyy might be willing to cede some territory now in exchange for nato protection. what are your thoughts on that? >> we've already had a land for peace deal. it's called the 1938 munich

pact, and it didn't last for more than a few months. russia has continually tried to break apart its neighbors starting in georgia in 2008, crimea a in 2014 and then, of course, this invasion in 2022. he has made it very clear, he wants to reassemble the russian empire in its greatest extent, and he's willing to use nuclear threats to do so. i don't know how we could actually have a deal with such a monster. anita: okay. well, we'll see what happens there, for sure. i want to go back to north korea and its influence on this whole thing. so we have now -- north korea's kim jong un talking to the russian defense minister, telling him that he believes that russia has every right to defend itself against incoming missiles if from ukraine. in fact, why don't we put this up, quote on the screen. this is from reuters. if we have that? anyway, what do -- here we go.

so, here we go. kim met with russian defense minister, and and he said the u.s. and west may keep authoritieses and attack russia's territory with their own long range strike weapons and that, basically, russia should take action to make hostile forces pay the price. what do you think about that, kim jong unweighing in on russia's ability to defend itself? >> kim jong is unneeds rug money. there's a report -- kim jong un needs russia's money. there are four combat brigades of north korea of its finest troops in the kursk region, so that's about the -- 12,800 troops. they're sport supporting each other. that's a lot of money. there are also reports that are russia a is supplying nuclear technology to the north koreans. this is very bad from the

perspective of not only san jose and washington, but also -- seoul and washington, but the rest of the free world. and, clearly, the biden administration hasn't been able to deal with this. this is going to be very difficult the for any president to deal with, but we can't ignore it. anita: it definitely is an unholy alliance. and, you know, given that president trump seemed to get along as he often says with kim jong un, how might president trump be able to influence the situation? >> i think that president trump in his first term was able to talk to kim jong is un, but that a's a very -- kim jong is un, but that's a very different time than today. now we have seen the add hardening of that unholy alliance, and that's not only north korea and china and russia, but it's also iran. and we are seeing some very disturbing developments as they coordinate their actions. so what was possible, for instance, in 2017, '18 and '19, i don't think it's possible in 2025. anita: wow, okay. well, we'll see what takes mace

there. i want -- place there. i want to pivot now if we can to china. originally, president-elect trump was talking about imposing a 60% or more tariff on chinese goods. over the fentanyl flowing from china into our country. now it seems like he's bringing that that number down to around 10%. china, of course, not happy about this. are you expecting to see four years of a trade war here? >> well, china's been waging a trade war against the united states for decades. and one of the important things is that president trump has actually decided in his first term to to oppose if it. and we're going to see this again. and so i'm not sure9 hat 10% tariff on -- that the 10% tariff on chinese goods is going to be the only thing. china right now, you know, it's huffing and puffing about this, but remember, they are a trade surplus country with regard to the u.s. through september their merchandise trade surplus was $217.5 billion. and, you know, trade surplus

countries don't have leverage in a trade war. and president-elect trump will be able to use our deficit position to get what we want from china. and if we don't, then i think he's going to just impose even higher tariffs. anita: wow. and what does that do to the price of goods coming into the u.s.? i mean, people are worried about that. >> in the first round of president trump's tariffs in 2018 china absorbed somewhere between 75-81% of the cost of those tariffs. so the american consumer did not feel it at all. china today haater incentive the absorb trump's tariffs than it did in 2018. and, by the way, tariffs are dynamic and they're not just a two-country affair, so they rearrange trade which means if we don't buy stuff from china, we'll buy it from someplace else. and the american consumer is not going to feel this at least maybe not beyond two months. anita: all right. well, i guess that's a piece offed good news right there. gordon chang, thank you so much for joining us today.

fire accusations of violations at each other. take a look at some of this video that we are getting today. now, this was released by the idf. what it said was a strike against hezbollah rocket launchers inside of lebanon earlier. israeli aircraft have struck hezbollah targets several times since the truce began this week, but israel is saying it are reserves the right under the ceasefire to strike against any per perceived violation is. the ceasefire for now again appears to be holding. now let's head over to gaza where fighting continues between israel and hamas with no ceasefire in sight for them. today according to a senior palestinian health official an israeli airstrike on a car in the gaza strip kill five people, three of -- three of which were to be employees of a charity, world central kitchen. a militant who had been involved with the october 7th hamas attack, the world kitchen said in response, quote, they had no

knowledge that any individual in the vehicle had alleged ties, but for now they're pausing their operations in gaza. now over to syria where rebels reportedly control a majority of aleppo following a surprise offensive. overnight russia launched airstrikes in response across parts of the city for the first time since 2016 as part of russia's ongoing support, of course, for the syrian president and his regime. syria's armed forces say they're preparing for a counterattack. for now analysts say one of the reasons that the rebels advanced so quickly in the last few days is because syria's close allies iran and hezbollah have been weakened, of course, by israeli attacks in the region. so it's definitely something we're going to keep an eye on, on all three of these wars going on. anita? anita: yeah. fast-moving situations over there. stephanie bennet live in london for us, thank you. jonathan? jonathan: a police detective in what locals consider an upscale village near chicago has been

killed. the police chief says 40-year-old alan reddens was killed after confronting an armed suspect leaving a bank. madison scarpino has the story. hello, madison. >> reporter: hello, jonathan. the this is the first time an oak park police officer has been killed on the job since 1938. detective reddens was known as a devoted father who loved his community, and the oak park police chief says that so many people are offering support as a reddens' family, friends and colleagues are all struggling. >> officers off duty responded, retired police officers responded to the hospital, officers that that left the police department to go to other police departments were there. i'm hurting. this is the worst day of any chief of police. >> reporter: police say a shooter killed reddens yesterday morning. he and other officers were responding to a call about a man with a gun leaving a bank.

when the officers arrived, they told the suspect to show his hands, and that's when reddens was shot. one person in the area at the time of the shooting says he heard a bunch of shots, got down and was hiding. >> nothing happens up here. you may find a fight or something but nothing like this will ever happen like this, so it's wild. >> reporter: the suspect was also shot, injured and taken to the hospital. he remains in stable condition, but it's unclear who the shooter is, if there was a motive and what the suspect was doing walking out of a bank with a gun. but we're waiting for an request update from police hopefully sometime today, and we'll keep you guys updated, jonathan. jonathan: terrible tragedy. madison scarpino, thank you so much. and we will be right back. ♪ ♪
