we don't know what chanley painter has the details. >> we are learning that the shooter may have left a message on evidence found at the scene where 50-year-old brian thompson was gunned down outside a new york city hotel. police releasing this chilling surveillance video showing thompson blue blazer, mask behind him. we paused the video before several shots were fired at close range. according to a witness. the suspect waited all night for the executive to walk by. watch. >> when i looked guy crossed. he was here in this corner. the whole night. >> after the assassination, the gunman escaped through an alley way before hopping on an e-bike and disappearing into central park. police are still searching for the man releasing these images of the suspect taken at a

starbucks right before the shooting. the motive for this murder is unknown. based on the what we have so far does appear the victim was targeted but at this point we do not know why. this does not appear to be a random act of violence. >> we are learning some clues as to a possible motive found on evidence found at the scene. according to the "new york post," quote: the nypd is investigating the possible message with appears to include the words deny, depose, and defend. written on live rounds and shell casings left behind by the masked assassin. those reported words eerily similar to the name of this book, delay, deny, defend, which is about how insurance companies deny valid claims for profit, in fact, thompson's wife tells nbc news there have been threats. i don't know details i just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening

him. now, the united healthcare ceo was in new york for an investor's conference, thompson was a father, a husband from minnesota. crime stoppers is now offering a $10,000 reward for information on the gunman and the "new york post" also reporting this that police obtained the suspect's starbucks track he threw away. maybe we will have d.n.a. which may, of course, lead to an arrest eventually, guys. lots of developments this morning. >> steve: all right, chanley thank you very much. >> brian: thanks, chanley. maybe traffic central park and around the block i think they are looking at a lot of video today. looking at video and investigator imtr imperatrice. maybe two days before and maybe without a mask on to give an idea. you know his height. you know roughly what he wears. you saw him in starbucks. but i'm questioning did they know him from two days ago do they know him from monday?

do they know him from saturday? >> lawrence: brian, to your point about the footage. new york city has the best footage when it documents surveillance. >> brian: i have been there. counter-terrorism. >> every block. steve. >> lawrence: they do a lot of cross-references with the fbi so they have some of this technology that they are going to be age to stitch together looking at credit card data as well to see who did transactions at that starbucks, to try to get an identity of this guy. look at the ebank technology to try to put a pattern, who was in that area at that time in central park, ainsley. >> it's so interesting when you see that the casings had those words on it and very similar to that book and the subtitle of the book is why insurance companies don't pay claims and want -- and what you can do about it. was this someone who had his health insurance and the health insurance didn't cover a lot of their medical expenses. they lost their house. or maybe their marriage or something because of it. disgruntled? you can't do this. you can't take another man's life. he is the ceo.

three casings, he is going to squeeze off three shots. he did shoot the guy in the back. he shot him in the leg. was he a bad shot or was he trying to take him down. the other thing is, he knew it cut through. he had been laying in wait for this particular man. and see the backpack right there. if the guy took an e-bike up to central park, where there are very few cameras on the inside, except the perimeter, he has got a change of clothes in there he looks completely different. he might have a disguise. we might be looking at a disguise right there. maybe that's not really. it could be some sort of prosthetic, a bigger nose, a different no, sir. that's the only clue they have got right there. >> lawrence: sources say he made a lot of mistakes. we don't know the motive quite yet. >> ainsley: do you know what the mistakes were? >> the investigators said they don't want to put them out there because they don't want to compromise the investigation. i think whatever his agenda was, by leaving those shell casings out there, there is d.n.a.

quote i support the president. hunter might not be the only one to receive a pardon this might be the beginning. biden white house is discussing preemptive pardons for those in trump's crosshairs. according to politico, president biden's top aides are reportedly weighing the idea of issuing preemptive pardons to current and former government officials ahead of president-elect donald trump's inauguration next month. that includes former congresswoman liz cheney, senator elect adam schiff and dr. anthony fauci. fauci has been accused by republicans and watchdog groups of lying to congress about the origins of covid-19. virus and his use of private email account do government business. now president-elect trump has said that he does not seek retribution. in fact, he told our own sean hannity that back in june. now. the next time we will see president biden fresh off his trip from angola will be tonight on the ellipse where he will be lighting the white house christmas tree. and i checked the fox news weather app., the temperature is

and, you know, so many other artists were stopping him from using their music, so i decided to contact bmi and tell them to -- not to terminate his political use license. because he seems to be bringing so much joy to the american people with this use of ymca. the president-elect has done so much for ymca it and brought so much joy to so many people. the song has actually gone back to number one and it's still number one today. so, if he were to ask village people to perform the song live for him, we would have to seriously consider it. >> brian: all right. so it looks like he might do it. >> lawrence: the moral of the story is don't fight it. just join. in the democrats have fake joy at their dnc. but right now there is real joy in the country. and even if you were on the other side. if you want to join, in just do it. you can reverse all of your

to talk to people. that's what he does for a living. there are senators that are trying to get him to withdraw himself from the process and take great umbrage with that. why? bar and grill. >> will: i take great umbrage. i might be clear any criticism i might have for a republican senator to cut government waste and spending on the past is separate from their attempts to prance take pete hegseth down from dod both separately are worthy of my criticism. let's talk about this for just a moment. any republican senator who wakes up this morning and looking at "fox & friends" or a president who has made a nomination probably needs to consider three options when it documents why they wouldn't support pete hegseth as their nominee. number one, they choose to accept and choose to align themselves on the side of anonymous reporters at msnbc news or the new yorker or the "new york times." and in my stems, put that of higher value than medal of honor recipients. david bellavia who stands by the character of pete hegseth. literally dozens of fox news employees who do not say things anonymously with their chest on

air or on x to say that character of pete hegseth. or they are so embedded in the military industrial complex they never want to see change or disruption to the pentagon. it's one of those three options for any republican senator. i doubt that donald trump likes any of those potential answers for republican who is now standing in the way, perhaps, perhaps not. perhaps we now have all of them in support of pete hegseth. >> ainsley: is he one of your best friends. y'all hang out. you know what he is like now. is he a auto changed man. brian. >> will: ainsley is he changed man on the flaws he has been honest about in his past. many of stuff. much this ainsley has been talked about him is unsubstantiated, false, or anonymous. pete is a good friend of mine and i own my bias. i think the first thing you have to do with any audience is tell them the truth the truth is i am biased. there is a reason that i am biased because i have hung out with this guy on air, commercial breaks, off air, talking about our families, with our families and going out to have dinner. and i know who this guy is

♪ >> steve: fox news alert. at 19 minutes before the top of the hour. the suspect screen left right there in the united healthcare ceo brian thompson's cold blooded murder still on the run at this hour new reports say thompson was one facing a department of investigation for insider trading. here to discuss former federal prosecutor and defense attorney andrew cherkasky. thank you for making the trip out to long island. when you watch the video, what does it look like to you? >> looks like somebody -- somebody trained in firearms, somebody who is capable of using it; he looks insensitive to the fact that he is killing somebody. some degree of presentation. a lot of thought he was ready to do it. whether that means is he a trained assassin like some people are saying, perhaps it's a step short of that. that he just had practiced a lot

with the firearm. but there is definitely a strong motive there. i think what we see in that video is somebody who is very committed to following through with this crime. and so now there is all sorts of speculation about what that motive could have been and whether that might lead us to actually finding him. >> steve: so that picture right there i believe is taken in a nearby starbucks. this was before the shooting and the guy bought a couple of power bars and bought a water and got a cup. and so presumably there would be d.n.a. on that. the -- obviously the cops have already hoovered up everything in that starbucks. but, if he is a trained killer, is he probably wearing gloves. >> the probability that he might be wearing gloves. although we see in the video when he is holding the gun it looks like he doesn't have that are they running that d.n.a.? are they actually getting something back or perhaps that's something in the garbage can that that fellow kind of was -- that disappeared. i'm most interested in the bike. he went to a bicycle city bike.

>> steve: e-bike. >> cracking software on that to figure out where that bike went has some people speculating about that. i'm sure the police are deep into that all of that on ground canvassing and looking at every piece they can. >> steve: as people get up on this thursday morning, the latest tantalizing clues come from i believe the "new york post," where apparently on three of the shell casings, the three shell indicatings there are the words -- somebody has edged the word deny, depose, defend. which also hans to be how insurance companies operate and how they essentially work to not pay you. >> right there. are many motives that i think people are identifying as a possibility. is this somebody who is disgruntled with united healthcare because of denied coverage, something along that line. somebody doj. worried he had information they didn't want released or many

>> i did not, no. >> ainsley: you worked with and toured north carolina with tulsi, donald trump was with your dad in georgia. don jr. was with you twice in north carolina. how are the folks doing in north carolina and how can we help? >> when this flood happened, it's been devastating. everything from my hometown of boone, north carolina where my dad grew up in asheville was devastated it's been hard. people in the mountains are awesome. if i could just turn down l.a., new york, washington, d.c., during the election, rhetoric. and you could hear what the people were -- no one cared what political party you were. they were just neighbor helping neighbor. it's been unbelievable devastation. we have got a lot of work to do. we have had a lot of volunteers. we cut trees back. we do heavy equipment. putting in even brings and redoing culverts. use helicopters, 360 air missions out of boone. delivering food at first delivering generators and heaters. it's been busy. but god gist us the best people to respond and be able to help our neighbor. >> ainsley: he really does. i love the mountains of north carolina. you are not skipping over homes
