of a pardons by category, not even by name. the whole idea is to keep that narrative alive. if it had not been for the white knight pardons we always been laid to waste a bite someone and one of them called a maniac coming into office. so, it is clear there is a political value to this. the harm it would do is considerable as you mentioned. this would not be in any way in line with the previous pardons. it's the same way and the efforts make the hunter biden article look ethical. it was laughable. the fact is you've got a couple of people who made up pardons for presidential children never occurred in order to say this nothing to see here. well, there is a lot to see here are the closest you could come and the hunter biden pardon is where they'v they'd taken some e language.

ford was not implicated in nixon's wrongdoing. joe biden is he just gave a pardon for anything that occurred in a 10 year period which is twice as long as the nixon pardon and that goes all the way back to when he was vice president. so, that period is quite considerable it covers everything from money laundering to murder. it is that broad scope that happens to be crimes influence with the peddling scandal which many believe the president himself lied repeatedly to the public and did have involvement. mark: and we come back jonathan turley we had the supreme court case on immunity. think they ruled correct bid three justices and said oh my goodness, donald trump could order somebody murdered, what would stop him? that is so ridiculous as we are trying but official act. but all of that said preemptive

♪ ♪. mark: welcome back america. we are at professor jonathan turley. i am just asking this question. what are the limits to this if you start handing out preemptive up pardons like lollipops, what are the limits to this with respect to a president doing this sort of thing potential even for himself? >> i think you are right about that. it will be replicated if you turn pardons into a type of party favor that you just hand out, they become something of a status symbol. the only people who i think will be more crestfallen for not being prosecuted who are those who would not be part and you would have to be on that list if you're going to be anyone in washington d.c. you can have presidents for example give themselves self pardons at the end of any term to make sure they're not pursued to hand out pardons to their associates. that's not going to be good for the country we have a legal system that protects the rights of those accused if there is a

basis for criminal charges, most of the public would like to see those charges pursued. but, there is no evidence at all that donald trump is going to be frog marching thousands of people into camps, in a campaign of revenge. but that is not the point. the point is to pardon as many people as possible so you can say we were right all along. fortunately biden prevented it from campaign vengeance. mark: as you have pointed out other people have pointed out your subject to congressional hearings the potential crimes depending upon how you behave during those hearings, correct? what's that is right this is not give the protection and many of these people may assume. if they get pulled in front of congress may have trouble invoking the fifth because they are not at risk. but, at the end of the day if you give false statements to federal investigator or congress you could be subject to a new criminal charge outside the scope of any prior pardon.
