what should america's role be right now? >> brian, first off, it's very welcome news to the syrian people. they have suffered under the assad dictatorship for more than 50 years. also humiliating news for our adversaries, russia and iran, which have been propping up assad for over a decade. russia has two major bases there in syria they have helped to support the houthi rebels in yemen that have been attacking our sailors in the red sea. but we also have to be guarded about the future as well. i don't think we should expect democracy is naturally going to flower in syria. we have to protect our interest as israel does as well. that's why the united states and israel carried out those airstrikes over the weekend to make sure, for instance that, isis remnants in eastern syria

weren't taking advantage of this period to gain more lands or that those chemical weapons or other weapon depots you mentioned weren't falling into the wrong hands. we want to work with our partners like israel and turkey and the region to try help syria have a stable government that's going to have peaceful reemtions with its neighbors and with the united states. trust but verify. i think in this situation we need to distrust and verify anyone who might come to power in syria. >> brian: the president, just to paraphrase came out, president-elect trump said we should have nothing to do with this. not our fight. we should have nothing to do with did. i really believe america's main interest is to get the russians out of syria. their military base, their port. it's allowing to ferry weapons to iran and get weapons from iran and to arm the houthi rebels who are rocketing us in the red sea and rocketing israel on a regular basis.

identity they will release that to the public because, really they don't have much that they are sending us. we have a few of these images with his mask slightly pulled down. but we don't know much more about him. especially the fact that he has been taking public transportation which, on his part is smart. although it is public. the police don't have a single vehicle that they can put out and say he is in this white car. it has this license plate. he is making it very difficult for law enforcement to provide information to the public. so if his name is found out, i think they will give that and put that out so that people can help track him down. >> lawrence: so, as it relates to the timeline, i know there was talk about d.n.a. since we haven't heard anything about any profile or something like that. does that mean they didn't grab anything or are they just waiting? i remember when i was covering the iowa case with bryan kohberger they waited for a while until he was eventually in custody. they used that for the criminal profile. >> that's absolutely correct. they could be holding that card

no safety issue. no threat. so that doesn't make you feel great if you are living in new jersey or seeing these drones. they are industrial drones. do you have any idea who might be operating these? >> >> it does not make anybody feel good or safe. look at the physical part of this. drones are large. some of them are the size of a car hood. some people reporting the size of a small car. if they lost power and fell, they are going to hurt or kill someone. so, and as far as we know, they are not authorized to be up there. i mean, i spoke to the governor last night about 7:30. he said he reiterated what he said to matt that they are very frustrated. they are frustrated with the feds. i said to him i said governor, these things have limited power range in life. and they are -- they need to be followed. so i kind of said to him and i said to others this idea i came up with follow a drone home program. somebody get a drone up there, somebody get a helicopter up there. they have to come back to earth.

and then we are going to know who is driving them. if they don't know, they need to know. that's what our residents are demanding from us. i think that's why we have matt and the other marsz why are getting a lot of heat for something we have zero control or say over. >> ainsley: mayor, i work with a lot of people work at fox news. i'm asking what their concerns are first it's military bases are below where many of these drones are flying. the spy balloon comes to mind. what are you hearing from your residents? >> well, you know, we understand that the area between morristown municipal court and the drive through down to bedminster that, goes right through morris county. and we do have the arsenal. a military base where that we understand is a high security and the truth is like sam said. if this is a national security

issue. we would feel fine if we could just tell our residents, our neighbors that was the case. and then we would be able to at least know something. what we continue to tell people is the only information we have is that it's not a security issue. but we don't know where they are coming from or what they are doing. there are a lot of them they tend to only come around at night, and they are very is systematic where they fly. there is something -- there is a pattern to them. and they are pretty much every night. our police is logging anywhere between 12 to 20 phone calls a night of drone interactions. and it's just really unnerving. >> ainsley: mayor morris, what are your residents saying. governor had a briefing are mayorkas. can we trust the feds to do something about this? >> i don't really -- and i think matt and all the other mayors agree we don't want to go at or be negative with the enforcement agencies. we think but that we do think that they need to -- they need
