woods yet. however, moderate damages. no injuries or fatalities. seven structures destroyed, eight damaged. it is a relief because it is late in the fire season and caught everyone by surprise. >> completely surrounded by fire every deck shun you look, surrounded by fire. i thought i would have to drive through a ring to fire to get out of here. >> the smoke was so thick. like someone was standing over there, you couldn't see them. it was insane. >> unlike the last major fire to hit here in 2018, that destroyed 1,000 homes, right now we have those night vision equipped helicopters dropping water all night. that's made a huge difference. also we have the fixed wings able to put a ring of retardant around the fire and that's helped. the winds have really died down. still the major thoroughfare, pacific coast highway is closed. a ghost town, no one has power. you referred to the sunrise.

good news is we have winds way down and a lot of moisture coming off the water, on shore breezes and maybe a drizzle this weekend. >> bill: hope for the best. hang tough, california. william la jeunesse, thank you. >> president biden: president-elect trump is receiving the strongest economy in modern history, the envy of the world. i will say something outrageous. nobody would exchange their economy with ours? can you think of one that wants to trade? >> dana: president biden is taking a victory lap on the economy but americans are still struggling to afford groceries after years of inflation. bring in karoline leavitt incoming white house press secretary. the fact check on the biden's economy. prices are 20.7% higher. inflation up. the new numbers we just got inflation are not quite as good. the progress that was minimal
6:50 am
has stalled and you have inflation back up at 2.7%. what do you think they are trying to do -- what they are trying to do is say the economy is better. when president trump comes on board if the economy is good it will be because of biden and not because of trump. your thoughts. >> with all due respect to president biden, he is desperately trying to reframe his legacy on his way out the door and clearly the american people disagree with his statement yesterday that this is the strongest economy. prices are still more than 20% higher than when joe biden took office. you also see that small business optimism is at an all-time high because small business owners realize that president trump is coming into the white house because they realize change is coming. that's why the american people overwhelmingly reelected president trump. he is putting together a brilliant team of business people, men and women who have

not worked in washington, d.c. but have actually ran businesses and know how to create jobs. i met with senator kelly leffler, the small business administrator. scott bessent leading the department of treasury. massive deregulation and energy boom bringing energy jobs back to this country to lower inflation for all americans. also delivering critical tax relief to put more money in the pockets of the american people. >> dana: i noticed a shift yesterday from some democrats talking about how biden brought back the american economy when you compare it to the rest of the world. but that's not how americans are thinking about this. that's a little -- that's how they are trying to adjust their spin on this. ask you about this as well. at the end of an administration there is usually an-outing press conference or usually before christmas let's wrap up the year with a press conference. karine jean-pierre was asked yesterday if we could expect one
6:52 am
from biden. >> will he give a year-end press conference? >> i don't have anything to share. the president is going to -- wants to continue to engage with all of you. i don't have anything to share on that. >> dana: he went on two international trips and said about seven words to reporters on those two trips. i'm not sure he wants to engage with the press, caroline. >> he has been spending a lot of time in delaware as he did throughout his entire term. we haven't seen or heard much of the leader of the free world over the past several weeks since the november 5th election. it is clear that he realizes this is over for him but i think it's a dereliction of duty and he owes it to the american people to speak to him. that's not what we've seen from this white house over the past four years. if you talk to reporters who sit inside that briefing room they're frustrated with the lack of access and transparency from the biden white house. i can assure them of one thing their access to the president
6:53 am
and the transparency will increase when president trump is back in the oval office. we saw that in his first term and often brought the press into the oval office when signing bills. i can expect it will continue when he returns to january. >> dana: reporters are ready to lace up their running shoes. that's the pace that you guys run. thank you. >> bill: it has happened again. nfl star has had his home invaded. joe burrow becoming the latest pro-athlete to have his house ransacked. what we've learned about that and what's behind the new crime trend in america.
