leaders met with state police and homeland security. them -- most left angry at the lack of information. a new jersey governor,'s office called the meeting, was a no-show. and in washington, the pentagon came out today saying these are not u.s. military drones and refuted claims by congressman that the drones or from an iranian mothership. >> there is no iranian ship off the coast of the united states and there's no so-called mothership launching drones towards the united states. our initial assessment is that this is not a -- the work of a foreign adversary or foreign entity. >> reporter: all this comes as the chinese national is arrested in san francisco after flying a drone over a military facility for about an hour and taking numerous photos. trace. >> trace: all very unusual, chanley painter in new york, thank you. ♪ ♪

>> trace: "fox news @ night" common sense department is not trying to be scully and mulder but this whole drone mystery has common sense baffled. these drone sightings have been happening across new jersey including near donald trump's golf club for more than 3 weeks. with no information, clarification or answers. we are being told these drones are the size of small cars but common sense has no idea how we know that considering all the drone video looks like it was taken by an antique video camera from 10 miles away. google earth can get a precise picture of my outdoor furniture from space and we can't get a decent shot of flying objects in the neighbors backyard. really? new jersey congressman jeff van drew says he has qualified sources that say the drones or from iran. the pentagon says they are not. so the pentagon does not know where they are from but does know where they are not from? we are being told that congress does not know, the fbi does not know, the white house does not

know. have we gotten so used to our leaders lying and denying that we automatically by whatever they sell? maybe ignorance is bliss but common sense is not happy. goalie and mulder would tell us that the truth is out there and maybe it is, but sadly we are not out there, we are down here where truth is limited and b.s. flows at the speed of light. >> who would you guess they belong to or where they are from? >> i hope they are not russia or china. >> maybe another country spying on us? maybe ufo? >> a representative came out on fox news and said they are probably from iran. not sure i believe that. >> should the government do something? >> i think they should investigate and it probably -- they would find something they would not share with us, the common people. >> of course they should. they should let us know what's going on.

they came to me, they gave me this information. i had 2 choices. to be silent, not to say anything, and god forbid something happened. i don't think i could live with myself again. i have a responsibility. these are people with security clearance at a high level who in essence were whistle-blowers. they did not want to reveal who they were or give their names. they are worried about their future. but here's the thing, just think about it. easier -- either these are backyard hobbyists which is a ridiculous notion because no backyard hobbyists has drones or anything like this, or it's the federal government, it's the department of defense or somebody. but they say it absolutely is not them so either they are lying or it isn't them, or it's some company within the united states that also doesn't have the technology. here's the point. they don't know what it is, they don't know where it's come from, they don't know who it is, they don't know what it's about, but they are absolutely sure that they know it's not some foreign

country. i never said it was off the coast. it could be further out in the ocean, the coast guard is seeing them coming back-and-forth. >> trace: and we are certain that somebody is not telling us the whole truth. there have been 184 sightings in the past two nights. what is new jersey homeland security telling you, mr. mayor? >> here's one problem that i want to speak up on. we had 180 mayors at 11:00 down in south jersey at a meeting and the governor wasn't even there. obviously this is affecting everybody, it's affecting the township of pequannock but this was just brought to my attention because we are talking about this as if it's just happening but the reality is, on october 12th, two months ago, 2024, "wall street journal" writes, mystery drones swarmed a u.s. military base for 17 days, the pentagon is stumped. this isn't just happening now, this has happened before. this is absolute total incompetence. how can it be in this day and

age, in america, 2024, that we have no idea who is flying drones, where did they come from or what's going on? this is absolutely unacceptable and i have to tell you, the residents of my town are concerned. if you had something flying over your house and it came back day after day, you would be worried. >> trace: i would be. the whole concern here is absolutely validated. my thing is why not just take one of these things down, to get out of the sky and analyse it and see what it is. >> that's a great point. >> that's what i said to do. >> trace: i'm sorry, on rismond. >> absolutely, take it down, find the best way to take it down, make sure you are safe, analysing, find out who it's from. whoever is doing this is doing something very wrong and very dangerous and if it's the federal government, they should apologize for what they have done to new jersey residents and americans. either gross stupidity which is frightening or mall intention.

week's murder of a health care ceo in midtown manhattan. senior national correspondent kevin corke is live in d.c. with the latest on the investigation. >> reporter: evening trace. law-enforcement has retrieved a notebook apparently belonging to luigi mangione, a 26-year-old charged with fatally shooting unitedhealthcare ceo brian thompson in new york last week. in addition to the relatively short 262 word manifesto obtained by "the new york times", mangione allegedly kept separate notes about his plans for the assassination in a spiral notebook. in that notebook, the former data engineer described plans to go to an "annual parasitic the encounter convention to whack the ceo" including passages that justified his plans for killing thompson and a to-do list of of tasks related to the murder plot. reading in part, "it's targeted, precise and does not risk innocence, reasoning that a bomb for example would be poor planning because it could kill

innocence." also today, a senior law enforcement official said fingerprints taken from the ivy league grad matched some of those found near the manhattan crime scene, trace. >> trace: kevin corke live in d.c., thank you. let's bring in the author of brutal minds, university professor stanley ridgley, along with one of the first female agents in the fbi's behavioral science unit, jana monroe. thank you for coming on. "the new york times" writes the following here, i find it fascinating, it is part of the handwritten note from luigi mangione. quoting here "the suspect saw the killing as a symbolic takedown. according to new york police department internal report that detailed parts of three-page document he likely views himself as a hero of sorts who has finally decided to act upon such injustices." do you think he views himself as a hero? >> i do. definitely, the way he framed

things, when he wrote that in his statement, it's like he's the leader, that other people are disgruntled and upset with the health care system, but he's the one who took action, he's the one who's the leader in this and i think he views himself as a folk hero. >> trace: professor, foxnews.com writes the following on the professor. appeared to share several social media posts fawning over the murder suspect. and one tiktok she smiles while playing the song do you hear the people saying from the famous musical. does this surprise you at all, professor, this behavior you are seeing? >> no, it does not surprise me at all. the doctor for me is a contemptible person. anyone who would encourage and praise young people to assassinate someone who is completely innocent based solely upon ideology, a left-wing

ideology. we know it's a left-wing ideology, anticapitalist aunt -- ideology. this is a brutal mind and i write about people like luigi mangione only in my book. people who are animated, motivated by ideology to harm other people. solely by virtue and in-service to that ideology. >> trace: it's fascinating to me because the notebook he was trying to write in or he wrote in says that he was trying to avoid harming innocence. here's what a neurosurgeon said about that mind-set. listen to this and i will see if you agree. >> you have a 26-year-old fit guy that has an injury and needs care and he may reflect his play -- pain on someone else or blame it on someone else and can escalate to a point of suicidal or even homicidal thoughts. >> trace: according to his notes he clearly saw brian thompson as the enemy and people around him as innocence.

>> absolutely. i think it's very disturbing when he's looking at that lens of his being a hero where he does not what i heard other people. he's a good guy. he doesn't want to hurt anybody who's innocent but he has already tagged who will be the bad guy. in my book i dealt with a lot of people with this kind of mind-set when i was in the behavioral science unit. it's not uncommon, that's his type of introspection and i think the six-month he's bent off the grid, that was probably where he was manifesting more of this ideological fanaticism. >> trace: stanley, the wall street editorial board says "the wall street journal" editorial board said the following, the headline is, that man is of luigi mangione. as many young men also do, he traffic in theories of exploitation and blame that dominate corners of the internet. he saw wisdom not madness in the writings of the notorious unabomber. the manifesto that he allegedly

wrote and that authorities say they found upon his arrest railed against the u.s. health care system. makes sense to you? >> yes, it does. when i was a military intelligence officer in germany we dealt with a gang and what is surprising about them was that these were not ne'er-do-wells, they were some of the most privileged people in german society who were bored with their society, who were ungrateful for the privilege and the wealth that they had access to. someone had to teach luigi mangione this type of ideology, this type of motivation, to kill someone based on that motivation. it wasn't his parents, it was in that church, it wasn't at his job as a data engineer. it was probably at the university of pennsylvania where he was taught probably by people much like the professor, julia alekseyeva. >> trace: there's a lot of bad blood out there for some people in the health care industry.

outcome on, jason, west point gave false information to a far left media site and stood by it for a while while this thing kind of, you know, seeped into the bloodstream and then finally said we were wrong. what is going on here? >> that's a total embarrassment. isn't it amazing how it always goes one direction. it always gravitates in that direction. pete hegseth, the more you get to know him, the more you look at his background, the more qualified you understand he is. same with kash patel. they've got substance behind what they've done in the past and that is what i think both should be confirmed and should do so with every republican supporting them. >> trace: it's amazing. moving on because the fox news polling just came out a couple of hours ago. on trump cabinet selections, look at the numbers. do you approve of the selections? approved 47% in 2016 it was only 44%. do you disapprove? it's 50, back in 2016 it was

46%. so there's a little bit more disapproval but more approval. what do you make of those numbers, alexa? >> look, you know, i think we will always talk about the historic victory that president trump accomplished this year, and this is his party, this is his mandate, and his appointees. it should be no surprise to everyone that these are the folks he's choosing. he campaigned with a lot of them. these are his picks that are going to implement his agenda. obviously, you know, i think there is broad support and you have a lot of republican senators saying they are going to confirm all of them. as they should. this is something the american people want and all of the optimism that coming up. i mean i saw a cnn poll today that they are excited and enthusiastic about president trump changing the direction of the company -- country and that obviously includes confirming his nominees. >> trace: you are among the few watching cnn.

i applaud you for that. fox news polling, fbi director christopher wray resigned today and he said this... >> in my view, this is the best way to avoid dragging the bureau deeper into the fray while reinforcing the values and principles that are so important and how we do our work. >> trace: we were all shocked. i mean come on, this was like yep, we knew this was coming. >> well yeah. fidelity, bravery, integrity, that has not thrived under director wray. it really hasn't. i think that is just a fact. a lot of false reporting about a 10-year term. the statute actually says you cannot serve for more than ten years. you get to serve at the discretion of the president of the united states. so donald trump always had the authority to do that. shame on the democrats who tried to pretend that the statute was

laws. christina coleman is live with new information on this. >> reporter: good evening trace. in a 3-1 vote the san diego county board of supervisors voted to expand the states century laws by approving the following policies. they include preventing local law enforcement from talking with federal officials about some pretty basic details like when a violent criminal migrant is released into the community. they would have to go through an additional legal process to get that information. also san diego county will not be allowed to hold migrants for federal authorities who are looking for them. and federal agents would not be allowed to use county offices to conduct screening interviews. >> community trust is one of the tenants of public safety and using county resources to support community members -- to report members puts all of our safety at risk. >> but not everyone feels that way. san diego county supervisor is clearly not a fan of this. he voted against the new rules saying the new policies add a

layer of bureaucracy that hinders law enforcement. >> these policies are just flawed but they are reckless and they endanger every member of our community. let's prioritizes safety over politics. justice over ideology and protection of innocent lives. >> reporter: also saying san diego county is already spending at least $5 million annually of taxpayer money to provide legal council for illegal immigrants facing deportation. a lot of money. >> trace: christina coleman live, thank you. let's bring in california state assembly member carl demaio along with marine corps veteran kate monroe. thank you for coming on. i want to play a bit more sound because jim desmond the only sandy go county commissioner who voted against the super century thing and he had something interesting that he wanted to point out. watch. >> i think this policy goes beyond california's existing sanctuary laws by adding an

additional layer of bureaucracy that hinders local law enforcement from directly notifying i.c.e. about illegal immigrants who are currently in our jails and they have committed heinous crimes. >> trace: what is happening down in san diego? >> insanity. and recklessness that's putting our community endanger. i represent san diego county in the 75th assembly district and my residents are furious because we are now tying the hands of law enforcement. worse than that, a super sanctuary city is basically saying that we are going to have zero contact whatsoever which means that if there are active crimes underway, if we are investigating other crimes that relate to federal government, if the person is possibly here illegally, there can be no cooperation between federal, state and local authorities and that puts us all at risk. also this policy requires that the county investigate law enforcement. this policy is going to require a two year look back of all

law enforcement personnel to see if they've done anything up to this point to violate this. so that sheriff rightfully has said she's not going to cooperate, she's not going to follow this, she's going to do her job and that is to protect our community. >> trace: a lot of people applauding that. meantime you talked to some illegal immigrants at the border, kate. i want to play part of your conversation. we translated it and here is what they said. >> how much did it cost to get here?
