your house is okay, what about your friends? >> yeah, my place, sorry, it is 2:00 in the morning. been quite a long 48 hours. my place is okay luckily, once i woke up on tuesday morning at 12:00 from a call to a friend, we had no power. i got a call that said there is a fire. i woke up and got out of bed and picked him up and drove around and surveyed the area many hours. it was quite scary toy zoo, basically what you see now, just smoke and orange flames, an eerie experience. >> todd: totally understandable you are exhausted, stres and you have been helping firefighters. how have you been doing that? >> it was something i wasn't expecting. basically i was driving around like it was, i thought everything in east malibu was a total loss in a certain area,
2:17 am
but when things started to die down, my friend went to bed and i went to check on two friends houses in particular in a certain area and that is when it was still a little scary, an active situation that died down. i wasn't there in the chick of it. 6:00 in the morning, i showed up and there is still something i can do. my friend's house was on fire and i was trying to help put that out. it is something i was like, i need to get the garden hose while firefighters were doing other things and coming and going. just a very surreal scene, i felt it -- i could do something to help and it wasn't so dangerous i couldn't be there. >> todd: you're a good man, real good man. i lived in this area and
2:18 am
understand how difficult it is to get to one individual home versus another, it is mountainous, brush, not like a suburb you see in bakersfield or something like that. explain how difficult it is for firefighters to fight this based upon the terrain. >> well, i mean, malibu is like 21ish miles long and so it is a very narrow city, i ges you could say. it is along coastline, mountainous terrain, homes and deep canyons with their own micro-climates, you don't know what you are getting into. small roads and seeing firefighters trying to navigate some roads and other emergency responders, it can be tough to navigate, especially in the dark. i was looking at the hillside, i was like, is that my friend's house or that building, it was
2:19 am
hard to tell. i can't imagine first responders coming and saying, we have to go this road and it is one and a half lane road not meant for multiple fire trucks and firemen. respect to them. firefighters have been amazing, they were life and blood of all this. sheriff's department and other sheriff departments in l.a. county and other counties, thank them for keeping order and especially firefighters for be ing out there and fighting the fires. >> todd: can't be overstated how much good they are doing. as you get further into the palisades, i was having breakfast with a buddy from the palisades, they were worried. thanks to amazing work of first responders and firefighters, it

2:27 am
took an oath. >> we don't want illegals in our community, we don't want migrants terrorizing our people. to have y'all sit up here and say we have to accept $70 million being given to them when you have black people struggling and need help, it is disgrace. >> carley: andreshg smith is founder of chicago against violence and joins me now. good morning to you. tom homan gave us a window what to expect. hes come january 21, there will be ice agents in chicago looking for gang members and criminals, it mayor johnson impedes those efforts, he will be prosecuted. how do you think residents in chicago feel about that? >> as chicagoans we should be celebrating the season, yet we
2:28 am
find negligent, disappointment, we find 575 million of taxpayer money allocated to migrants. we are disappointed, our shelters, schools, police stations, field houses have become shelters. we welcome the border czar to chicago. >> carley: and under mayor johnson, 51,000 migrants have arrived in chicago since 2022 and the city has spent 612 million on the cries since may of 2023. that appears to be what angers residents most because that is taxpayer dollars. inter interesting tom homan will be meeting with new york city mayor eric adams? how do you feel about that? >> i'm excited and excited the
2:29 am
mayor decided to sit down with the border czar. we look for mayor johnson to do the same and cooperate. if he doesn't, mayor johnson is known not to cooperate even with his residents that accidentally voted him in. >> carley: tom homan is getting different reaction from illinois governor pritzker than from mayor adams. take a listen to what jb pritzker said about tom homan and effort to deport illegal imr immigrants, watch this. >> i'm open to dialogue with him. he is not, does not have authority to do things he's talked about, being a border czar is not an official position in the government and will be up to president of the united states and up to leaders of the
2:30 am
customs and border patrol to make decision how we'll manage the border. >> carley: hes he's open to talking to him, it looks like it could be a showdown in january. what do you expect? >> look, we as chicagoans deserve fairness and accountabilities, not burdens. we need solutions. we're willing to sit down and i challenge the border czar like i did fox when they came to chicago, took them around to shelters and things like that. i challenge the border czar to reach out. i stood in a tent overnight, i stopped a bus, i went to jail because i understand you cannot make illegal legal. >> carley: that's a good point. you cannot make illegal legal, even though many people in illinois are trying to do just
2:31 am
that. thank you for joining us, we appreciate your insight. thank you. every police chief in state of new jersey is invited to a joint briefing with state police and dhs about increasing drone sightings across the state. state lawmakers met with dhs yesterday and it did not go well. >> i just sat through an hour and 15 long minute of briefing, most amateur assessment in the state of new jersey i've ever seen. they don't know anything. it was disgrace, insult to our legislators. >> the only description i can give, one constituent said he was driving his ford f-150, the drone was about the same size as his truck. >> todd: jack ciattarelli joins us now, you are pretty tapped in, are you hearing anything
2:32 am
from your sources about what this is or are you in the dark like the rest of us? >> we are in the dark, people are frustrated and angry and i'm fearful someone might take matters into their own hands. i hope that is not the case. five days ago governor said no threat and three days ago said he was frustrated because biden administration was not being cooperative and two days ago they don't know if the drones pose a threat. we don't want briefings, we want answers. >> carley: congressman jeff van drews he is hearing drones are coming from iran. pentagon later said that is not true and they ruled out they are coming from a foreign adversary. you hope the pentagon is right, how do you rule out a foreign adversary if we don't know where the drones are coming from? >> right now you can't.
2:33 am
think where drones are showing up, not just in your backyard, they are over our water supply, over power lines, over our natural gas pipelines, over our 911 communication centers. you can't tell me with resources available to us in new jersey, with the air force base, international guard, coast guard, most well equipped police force, we can't get answers, this is ridiculous. it is time. >> todd: what bothers me, i like many americans assumed we had a de facto dome around our country and foreign adversaries and foreign weapons, anything from outside by land, air and sea could not get in. let's face it, chinese air balloon shot down that notion before we shot down the balloon. any indication we are protected has gone by the wasteside with
2:34 am
drones permeating new jersey. how confident should american public feel in pentagon and fbi and in their entire national defense apparatus that we're safe from foreign invaders? >> you want to believe we have the most advanced military in the world, todd. joe biden and our governor, phil murphy are taking same approach as they do to the border and threat of illegal immigration. get our act together. it has been close to a week this has been taking place. you heard previous reports, these are not drones owned by american citizens. are you telling me to this point, after five days, that we can't find the point of origin of these drones? it is ridiculous and why people are frustrated and why people lose faith in government. they don't feel officials are playing straight with them and our governor has been mia.
2:35 am
>> carley: we hope to get answers soon, jack ciattarelli, thank you for joining us. meta jumping on maga bandwagon making a donation to trump's website. i can't believe i said that. >> todd: bill belichick heading back to school, taking his hall of fame resume to college s sidelines, but why? will it work? dan dakich on that next.
