person of the year set to mark the honor by ringing the opening bell. we can take you there live to the new york stock exchange because the man, number 47, has now entered the room. so it's not the first time he is person of the year and there is a bit of a tradition when you get to the cover and you also get to the new york stock exchange. good morning, i'm bill hemmer. dana perino. shall we watch this? >> dana: melania trump is there, jd vance as well, eye ivanka trump and pam bondi and tiffany trump. >> bill: i was going over notes earlier today. this is what we found. that he joins 13 other presidents who received the recognition but i think we can safely say he is the only one who has gotten it twice, right? >> dana: i think that's true. >> bill: going back to 1893

twice. and when the previous recognition went about a year ago, they went to the new york stock exchange as well. >> dana: also "time" magazine for the couple of years had gone way off the rails in terms of its nominees for person of the year. their choice. this is a great choice, amazing political comeback and he also made some history winning -- recent history winning the popular vote and winning the seven battleground states and the wind at his back right now. the excitement in the country is over 60% that are op at the mystic about the future and so he also gets to hear his favorite song by lee greenwood right there at the stock exchange. >> bill: don't know if it's live or recorded. >> dana: i think it's recorded. >> bill: we want to hang with this for a moment. the incoming president may have comments to make. if you've been following any of the news on the transition efforts you know he is hard at

work in florida trying to manage a team and put it together because he truly, as he says, wants to hit the ground running come january 20th that afternoon. >> dana: it's interesting he is at the new york stock exchange for this, right? where you go and do it and give a few remarks here. let's listen in. [applause] >> thank you very much. this is a tremendous honor. i brought some of our co-patriots along with us and they'll do a beautiful job for you for the next four years and it's really been something very special and i have to say "time" magazine getting this honor for the second time, i think i like it better this time actually. [laughter] we did a good job and had a great first term despite a lot of turmoil caused unnecessarily. but the media has tamed down a little bit. they are liking us much better now, i think. if they don't we'll have to take them on again. we don't want to do that.
6:04 am
i thank "time" magazine. i have been on the cover. 25% of great, the others i just sort of hide. an honor, every time it is an honor and thank you very much for doing it and thank the who group at "time" magazine, very professional people. thank you very much. [applause] and to jeff and all of the people from the new york stock exchange. he knows how much i like it because many years ago i bought a building across the street. i wasn't going to buy it and said it's right next to the new york stock exchange. i'll buy it and we've had great success, 40 wall street, tremendous success with it. you really have had success with the new york stock exchange. an incredible group of people and jeff you have done an incredible job. you and your group and beautiful speech you made. that was some introduction of
6:05 am
all of us. but we've gone up since the election. i was just told by scott everybody said you have to pick scott bessent. he has to be the one chosen for treasury. where is scott? he is around here someplace. he told me we picked up electi? he said we picked up some money there because they thought you would win. i like this guy. he will be my treasury secretary. [applause] i think we'll have a tremendous run. we have to straighten out some big problems in the world. when we left we didn't have any of these problems. we didn't have russia with ukraine, israel october 7th, we didn't have the afghanistan disaster, we didn't have inflation. we had no inflation. and we had a very strong economy. and we will do that again.
6:06 am
i think we are going to even up it. now we have experience we didn't have. now i know everybody. when i first came in, we came down, melania and i, very popular, by the way. she rang in the bell. [applause] she rang in the bell. but we came down and were driving down pennsylvania avenue and it was so beautiful. i said i've never done this before. i didn't know anybody. i got to the oval office and i'm picking all these big positions and i didn't know the people in washington but boy did i learn fast. now we do. i think we have an incredible staff behind me and others that aren't here and we'll do a fantastic job and create the incentive theory again. i just announced yesterday, not for this reason but anybody investing a billion dollars or more gets a very expedited approval process. the approvals, when people come into the country it takes them in many cases 14, 15, 16 years to get the approval.
6:07 am
we have lee in charge of the environment. lee zeldin, who ran an incredible race for governor in new york. was very successful guy before that and a great congressman and he is a fantastic lawyer in charge of environmental. we'll try to push him as much as possible to get those permits very quickly. like nuclear power plant i would say a week would be enough time. what do you think? [laughter] we'll get fast approvals. great that we have lee and all the people behind. all-stars in their own way. it is an honor and this is a double. usually they don't coordinate the man of the year or person of the year with the ringing of the bell and brilliantly you picked them both at the same time and you were friends and said let's do it. it takes one trip. not two trips. that's okay. we like to save. we like to be able to do it properly. this is a special group. so many friends in the audience,
6:08 am
too, john, great job you have done at abc. i'm proud of you and you have been so nice to me. otherwise i wouldn't acknowledge you at all. [laughter] but you have been -- it is a terrific job you have done. again, i want to thank you. we're going down to ring the bell now and i could say the economy, i believe, will be very strong. we do have to solve some problems. we have wars going on that we didn't have. we have a lot of things happening we didn't have that would have never happened. they would have never happened. but now they have happened and i want to get them solved. we have to get them solved. ultimately the power of weaponry today is the biggest threat we have in my opinion. it's not some of the other things that you read about. it's the power of weaponry. the weapons are so powerful and devastating. i built our military. i hated to do it, actually. but we did some nuclear weapons that are so devastating it almost makes you very sad when
6:09 am
-- as you get them and as they come online it makes you very sad. you know what the purpose is and you hope to god that you never have to use them. because if you do, the world will never be the same. so we have to be very, very smart. we have to be very sharp and we have to be very special to do a job and i think we'll get it done and i think we'll get a lot of people in the room. we've seen it. we were in france where president macron did a fantastic job with the cathedral. fantastic job of notre dame and it was beautiful. the opening. i just got back and it was something really beautiful. a lot of world leaders there. 80 world leaders, different countries and they were all coming together and wanted to meet us and meet me as representative of the u.s. and there was a lot of goodwill. we'll get some tremendous goodwill. i was thinking about inviting certain people to the
6:10 am
inauguration and some people said that's a little risky, isn't it? i said maybe it is, we'll see what happens. but we like to take little chances. that's not a bad chance. here is a gentleman that will do a great job at hud. good luck, my friend, right? going to be -- he has been my friend for a long time. [applause] i haven't shaken his hand yet. congratulations. really -- you'll be great. ben carson is your biggest fan in the world, you know that. ben has been with us for a long time and done a fantastic job. thank you, good. so ladies and gentlemen, go on, we're going to put it straight. we'll give tremendous incentive like no other country has. cutting taxes and cut them substantially. we got them down to 21% from probably 42 or 44% depending where you are. we got them down to 21. everyone said it was a miracle. now getting them down to 15 but
6:11 am
only if you make your product here. otherwise you pay 21. but not bad. in the middle of the fact. 15 brings you down to among the lowest. [applause] and for those that are running the big companies, those great big beautiful companies, nobody will be leaving us. you'll be coming back and bringing it back to the united states. we're incentivizing everybody to come back to the united states. we want you back here. car manufacturers, everybody, and we have one product that nobody has to the extent that we do. it is called oil and gas. there is no country in the world that has more. we're number one. i brought it to number one during my first term in terms of production. we will be number one plus. we'll do numbers that nobody will really see before and when that happens, prices will start coming down because people can't afford their groceries and they will be affording their groceries very soon. i tell the story about a woman who -- an old woman, no money,
6:12 am
went to a grocery store, had three apples. she put them down on the counter and she looked and saw the price and she said would you excuse me? she walked one of the apples back to the refrigerator and came back to pay for the two apples and she left with two apples. and the woman at the counter said that was so sad. when i heard about the story i said that should never happen in america. it is not going to happen in america. we'll do it right and take care of our people and we are going to do things that nobody ever thought were possible. we'll have an economy the likes of which nobody has ever seen before and everybody is coming back to america. i saw that the other day at the cathedral all saying we want to come back, we want to come back. with a couple of changes done by howard and scott and some of the great people up here with me, we are going to bring them all back. they are all coming back. thank you very much. a great honor, ringing the bell will be fantastic. go out and get them. we're with you all the way. thank you very much. thank you. >> dana: president trump right before he rings the bell at the new york stock exchange in celebration of his recognition as person of the year for "time" magazine. this is his second time and it's certainly a coveted position and you can see how -- there is a hunger to hear from him. he has been very quiet since the election. aside from the "meet the press" interview hasn't really talked to the press and so this was quite a moment for him to say here are some things we were doing. he tells the story about the apple. a woman wanted three apples. could only buy two. he is going to the new york stock exchange. the stock market is on a tear and excited about that. still in the back of his mind is what's going on for everyday americans who are making decisions about three or two apples. >> bill: i would point out a couple of headlines from overnight into the day today. nasdaq closed above 20,000 yesterday. think about that. technology sector and the

american corporate world is on fire. closed in at 20,000. president xi has been invited to the inauguration in january. don't know if he will accept that. also with "time" magazine does when they just named the person they do an interview. there are a couple of bullets hitting the wires now. trump was asked about the chances of war with iran. and he answered anything can happen. and obviously he likes to keep an open playbook to keep people guessing. one of the many comments he gave. answered a lot of things about immigration. talked about childhood vaccinations and i think these hearings come january will be very, very interesting for us and our audience to watch together. >> dana: absolutely. looking forward to all of those as well. there you have it. the new york stock exchange. the bell is rung at 9:30 a.m. you won't miss it if you keep it on fox news channel. >> bill: 16 minutes away on that. a big meeting in a blue city. new york's democratic mayor eric

6:22 am
is that these are not drones or activities coming from a foreign entity or adversary. there is no iranian ship off the coast of the united states and no so-called mother ship launching drones towards the united states. >> those comments from the pentagon came a few hours after jeff van drew, said he thought it was an iranian mother ship. a little recon by him. it drew a rebuke by governor phil murphy. >> there was a wild asertation by congressman van drew about iran with a big boat off of -- a mothership. come on, man. the department of defense said there is zero evidence to that effect. f.b.i. said zero evidence. i'm not sure what he has been watching lately. he might want to watch the news. we'll be on with the white house tomorrow. i want folks to know listen, you are frustrated. so are we. i promise this is our top priority.
6:23 am
>> there is a white house press briefing here at 1:30 eastern. we hope to have more answers. certainly a lot of reporters, peter doocy will be present. >> bill: fill in the blank. nice to see you from the white house. >> dana: congressman jeff van drew republican of new jersey were in a briefing yesterday and you had said that you believe or heard that it could be from iran. pentagon said it is not the case and so i wonder if you had put in china, would they be forced to respond as well and we narrow it down by way of guessing game. >> they've been incredibly stupid and weak with this. here is the point. we know they are not backyard drones that some hobiest is using. they're more sophisticated and not a commercial company in the united states. we're a full decade behind china is with drones. the government says it's not
6:24 am
them. who is it? i had credible individuals who have high security ratings and they came to me and again these are dependable, credible individuals that have security clearance that felt they wanted to clear the air. they were in essence whistleblowers and said they believe there is a real possibility it could be iran. that there could be a ship out. not right on the coast of new jersey. not right there but the drones as sighted by the coast guard are coming in and out of the ocean. they are going to the ocean. not pontoons or not landing on the water. they are landing on something. we aren't being told the truth. they are dealing with the american public like we're stupid and again understand these drones are sophisticated systems. ones that we don't normally see and we need some real substantive answers. this has been going on for almost one month. it is incredible. >> bill: some people don't respect your answers yesterday or when you were on our network
6:25 am
with harris. but you're than the transportation committee and you pulled the pin and rolled it down the hall and jen griffin took the question you laid out to the pentagon. watch here. >> representative jeff van drew, a republican from new jersey, was just on the air saying that iran launched a mother ship probably about a month ago that contains these drones. >> there is not any truth to that. no iranian ship off the coast of the united states and there is no so-called mothership launching drones towards the united states. >> bill: what were you talking about then, congressman? >> these drones very well could be launched from a ship. it could be hundreds of miles out at sea. these types of drones go much greater distances. these are something that we normally don't see in the united states. so there is a real possibility. could it be china? absolutely. something else? it sure could. here is the deal. they don't know what it is, what
6:26 am
it's about. they haven't taken one down to analyze. they have no idea where it comes from but they know it is not theirs. it is nonsense. they don't know what they are doing. why don't they take one of them down, analyze it and let us know what's really happening. i hope they know more than they are telling us but it's disrespectful to the public and congress. it is about time they leveled with the truthlly they'll give information this afternoon. even if they do, it is a month too late. it reminds me of the spy balloon last year. traveled the whole country, obtained all the information it wanted as it was just about to exit then finally the president ordered it to be shot down. this is weakness and stupidity and it is intolerable. >> dana: a briefing yesterday for local lawmakers in new jersey. they came out of that meeting and said they got zero. you have governor murphy, the governor of new jersey. the state that you represent, and he said rest assured there is no problem for the public.
6:27 am
there is no danger here. but how can he be sure of that? >> he can't be sure of it. it is like somebody that goes to the doctor and has a severe chest pain and it's horrible, they can't stand up and the doctor says i don't know what you have but you are just fine. don't worry about it. they don't know anything. they have no information. how incredible is that when they have a trillion dollar budget supposedly all these experts and i thought quite frankly it was amateur hour at that press conference at the pentagon had. no answers, no focus, no ideas. of course people are concerned. so at the very least what i've done is passed forward a very credible possibility that came from credible experts. these are real people that didn't want to reveal their names because they didn't want to lose their position who have high security clearance. it's the real deal. i deal with these people on the aviation subcommittee and vice chairman of the transportation. it's real. i'm not saying it's definite but
6:28 am
something that needs to be explored and treated with respect. >> bill: thank you for coming back today. you are making waves and i hope you get answers. we certainly would like to know what's up. jeff van drew from new jersey there and now we go now to the new york stock exchange, dana. here we go. big moment, 2 1/2 minutes away. transition team with him. all of it -- a lot of his nominees there. to west palm and rich edson for the headlines at the moment. good morning. >> good morning, bill. well, this is what president-elect trump ran on, fixing the economy and argues this is one of the primary issues that brought him to this moment. what you have here basically now also is the "time" magazine naming trump its person of the year. you see that in the background there for the second time. this announcement also at the new york stock exchange. several other cabinet nominees standing with him. scott bessent treasury secretary.
6:29 am
robert f. kennedy, jr. to lead the department of health and human services. trump promises an economy better than anyone has ever seen and issues to fix first. not only some international problems with the wars in ukraine and other issues but the inflation that the u.s. has seen and a number of those issues now. a new fox news poll out says 34% of voters say the economy is the most important issue facing the country. also followed by immigration. within that 60% say it is extremely important president-elect trump lower the price of food and gas. president biden has a much different take on that. he credits his administration with reducing inflation, strong consistent job and economic and wage growth. despite all of these issues here you are also looking ahead to the inauguration. some reporting out there that the president-elect is looking to invite chinese president xi to the united states. a two-headed monster that you look at with negotiations to china and promising massive
6:30 am
tariffs on chinese imports and other imports that he singled out china for trade practices and fentanyl coming over to this hemisphere. the economy, major issue, major problem. plenty of political talking heads say it's the primary issue that brought the president-elect back to the oval office here. now here he is at the new york stock exchange, territory he knows well and ring the opening bell. >> bill: thank you, let's stand by and watch together here. a little history, i would say, going back to the white house, first stop lower manhattan. the dow has been moving. really just on a tear. i mentioned the nasdaq. dow at 44,000. which i think is 8,000 higher than the highest point. >> dana: here we go. there is the bell. [cheers and applause] [bell ringing]
6:31 am
>> bill: big day for 47. new york stock exchange. "time" magazine. we got a transcript of this interview. it reads 59 minutes in length and dana, as you point out. it was done at the end of november. some of it may be dated. >> dana: done november 25th. a lot has happened. before thanksgiving and before he announced kash patel and all the changes in the middle east. a lot has changed including -- here is a question about do you plan to fire christopher wray? >> he will announce something in the future. there are some interesting nuggets. but i do think that the interview is a little dated. what is not dated is this moment right here with president trump time person of the year surrounded by family and getting ready to kick off an amazing 39 days until inauguration. >> bill: brian brenberg is with us, host of fox news saturday
6:32 am
night jimmy failla with us as well. good morning, gentlemen. to the news first, on the economy and what is your sense about. >> this is a big deal. ringing the bell is a victory thing for trump. he is establishing that the economy is what i'm about in this new term. but to me and jimmy will appreciate this it feels like ringing the bell to a prize fight in some ways because what he is going to do with the economy won't be a given. he will get a fight on taxes and tariffs, a fight an regulation. all of that matters for stocks and so he is going to battle right now and this is sort of like the economic opening salvo in that. >> dana: one of the things he talked about in the speech before he rang the bell told a story about a woman with three apples. takes them to the counter, sees how much they are. hold on a second. takes one back and leaves with two apples. it is great the stock market is good for people but to me it struck me because he is thinking
6:33 am
about the people who might not worry that much about their stocks or worry about their everyday budget. >> his true advantage. he made people feel heard. when it came to the economy he talked about women who couldn't buy apples. democrats were saying shut up, the economy is fine. when you think of the magnitude of the comeback standing in front of the big time logo. democrats thought he would be doing time. now he is on the cover of time magazine or the second time and all the way back. it is something. >> bill: fox news polling results about americans feeling hopeful, not angry, but hopeful from the election results. 54% say there is the issues facing the country, 34% of the economy. everything we looked for. fox news polling on the attitudes for americans i think is impressive. you are very or somewhat hopeful 54%. that's positive, brian. >> yeah. you can feel it. whether it's the stock market, grocery shopping.
6:34 am
it doesn't matter what the issue is, people feel like things are going to change. like there is a team coming into place who want to change things and there is varability. it will be a fight. if you feel like somebody has the energy. he is back in new york. not in a courtroom. at the new york stock exchange. a different tone for america. i think almost -- a bigger percentage of the population can get behind that than you would ever expect. >> dana: the other thing the headline from the interview he might veto a budget or appropriations bill that does not comply with the doge requests for cuts. that is going to be a huge fight because these members of congress will say but my program is very special. but he might be able to wield some of that power. he has a lot of political capital. he intends to spend it. he has four years to do it. not like he is doing four years to get another four years. >> he is expecting to hit the
6:35 am
ground running. he wants to get in there and get to work opening today. that's what the bell and speech was about. anybody who wants to invest a billion dollars getting an expedited approval process. he was joking when he said get a nuclear power plant in please than a week. people are panicking on other channels. this is the big deal and why there is so much optimism. we feel like we are fighting the right battles again. a lot of the issues facing americans in the last four years we were told weren't issues. the border is fine. your city isn't overcrowding. that's your lying eye. manufactured republican. crime is down. what are you talking about? and now we're in this other place now where it feels like we're properly looking the problems in the eye and you have to be optimistic especially when we just said goodbye to an administration who had 72% of americans convinced we were headed in the wrong direction. if an uber driver took 72% of
6:36 am
his passengers the wrong way. >> bill: speaking of new york, i think it's a remarkable transformation our democratic mayor is making. he knows he has a problem. he is trying to fix it. he will meet with homan just today, this afternoon. >> this is what happens when you reshuffle the deck and make moves away from the table. election, popularity of the president. everybody from mayor adams to mark zuckerberg to gm, every one of them is rethinking where they stand on their playing field whether it's e.v., crime, border. i love that. he has four years to work but he is measuring this in 100 day increments and what american loves. he is not waiting around. we'll do it now. >> dana: eric adams said he wanted to do it two years ago. he had no support. now he has support. what president trump is doing for these people is providing them cover to do the right
6:37 am
thing. it is not that he didn't want to but no one to help get it done. now he might. >> bill: we'll see maybe xi at the inauguration. >> we'll see if it happens. >> bill: we'll get to capitol hill as we watch the images from the new york stock exchange. you sign the book and get the immediate alan and wow, it was a moment. >> where he was signing the book. he found out he was the first president to ring the bell at the new york stock exchange since ronald reagan. so big surprise for him but this is exactly what the trump team wanted. i think it is more than what they expected and hoped for when you had that period of time between the election and the inauguration, you want wins after wins. they got another one with facebook meta ceo mark zuckerberg donating a million dollars to their inaugural fund.
6:38 am
he didn't do that for joe biden or trump in 2017. win after win and feeling good about it and feeling pretty good about what is happening on capitol hill. the tide is turning for their nominees including some controversial ones. even democrats now are reaching out to these nominees wanting the face-to-face one-on-one time. one of those is pete hegseth had a tough opening here on capitol hill. a lot of bad headlines about him including some headlines about possibly trump swapping him for someone else. he will get things going in 30 minutes for second week here of meetings. he will be meeting with john fetterman, who could wind up supporting pete hegseth for pentagon. he already supports elise stefanik for u.n. ambassador, a bipartisan process. we could see some democrats in favor of trump picks. yesterday outgoing majority leader chuck schumer met with
