8:01 pm
late news, fox news at night. breaking tonight we have brand-new video coming into fox news of drones that are currently flying over connecticut. the fourth state that we know of encountering these mysterious objects. we will have much more on the breaking news and new video as it comes into fox news at night. donald trump once again "time" magazine's person of the year. for many people the reaction was pure elation. for others it was an all-out meltdown. we will show you both. pete hegseth continuing his push to persuade lawmakers. >> we are meeting with republicans and in this case democrats because there's nothing political about national security. >> trace: while trump nominees look for approval, the trump team for now is not seeing any major pushback which is a massive change. then there is this. >> we don't want migrants
8:02 pm
terrorizing our own people. and to have you set up here and say we have to accept $70 million to give it to them win you've got black people who are already struggling and need help, it's a disgrace. >> trace: tensions boiling over as chicago residents don't hold back their criticism of funding illegal immigrants. a 7-year-old girl killed by an illegal immigrant driving drunk in texas. >> you came over here illegal so that means you don't follow the law and do you think that you are above the law. >> she let the room up. >> trace: the venezuelan national charged with intoxicated manslaughter was released from custody just two months ago after assaulting a member of his family. christina coleman is live with more on this heartrending story. >> such a tragedy. in that venezuelan migrant is
8:03 pm
accused of killing 7-year-old ivory smith in a late-night drunk driving accident in houston. her family is absolutely devastated. >> we just want her here. we want to see those smiles back on her face and back on our families face. we will never be the same. >> democratic new york city mayor eric adams and incoming border czar tom homan met up and discussed criminal migrants. they reached some common ground. he says it was a great meeting. >> today he proved that as the mayor in new york city he's more concerned with public safety than politics. i wish the mayor of chicago and san diego city council and the... i wish they would all take a page out of eric adams playbook. >> we are not good to be a safe haven for those who commit repeated violent crimes. >> speaking of chicago as you heard already, residents voiced
8:04 pm
their anger over how leaders and their sanctuary city are handling the migrant crisis. more than 1.4 million illegal immigrants are currently in the u.s. the majority of them are from mexico and the northern triangle countries in central america. ramallo, honduras and el salvador. a lot of people. >> trace: let's bring an chicago resident... it's great to have you on the show. we have talked about this a lot over the recent weeks and i want to play a bit more of these angry chicago residents so we can get a feel for how much these people harbour resentment. >> was it only to fight for the tenth and 14th moments regarding illegal aliens. >> you are fighting for some illegal aliens who haven't put a dime in this country. >> trace: you can feel their anger. do you understand their anger? >> i do. i'm a citizen of the city.
8:05 pm
right now we're dealing with the fact that illegals are actually trying to commandeer people's homes as we speak. it's very cold in chicago and they've been evicted from the shelters and there are incidents of... so this is getting to be very serious. the city has put us in a conundrum and then decided that they don't want to deal with it anymore so that we are literally sitting as sitting ducks across the city as we are dealing with lots of homeless illegal aliens in our country. >> trace: it's interesting that you say you are sitting ducks because last month the mayor of chicago was talking about trump's plan to go after the worst of the worst and the mayor said this. >> his threat is not just towards new arrivals and undocumented families. his threats are also against... >> he thinks trump is actually going against black families.
8:06 pm
what do you think about that? >> brandon johnson is going against the families that are being affected and victimized by these illegal immigrants. he's going against black families like my own who now have to pay higher property taxes on properties that we've owned for decades were people who pay people to illegally traffic them into our country. he's hurting black families by putting unvaccinated and six children of the illegal immigrants in the chicago public schools, spreading disease all around our city. we were the epicenter of the measles outbreak last spring because of the policies of brandon johnson. it's very disrespectful for him to use any of the political capital of the american... to push the illegals when they are not the same as us. as black americans we stand with the american people because we are at home. he needs to stop saying that. >> trace: you talk about the black families being affected by this. in houston a 7-year-old girl was
8:07 pm
killed by a venezuelan illegal immigrant driving drunk. the woman's aunt said the following. >> they had an opportunity when they had him to have him do the proper steps. and he was released on a hold and he was assaulting a family member and now he's killed our family member. >> trace: the 7-year-old's aunt, really devastating to hear this kind of stuff but it plays into what we are talking about. i've got about 25 seconds for you. >> i want to say to tom homan may god bless you in the mission you are about to do. everybody, please pray for the immigrations, customs and enforcement service as they bring safety and security back to the american people because the border is not in texas, it's right here in the city of chicago and we need help immediately. please pray for us. >> trace: thank you for coming
8:08 pm
on. the trump transition continues gaining momentum as the president-elect is named "time" magazine person of the year. it comes while his cabinet nominees work on getting the support of democrats. the senior national correspondent kevin corke is live with new information on this. >> another day, another round of meetings around capitol hill here in washington as potential trump cabinet members exchange ideas with lawmakers from both sides of the aisle including defence secretary nominee pete hegseth who today met with pennsylvania democratic senator john federman. >> he's thoughtful, he's independent-minded. defence is not political. national security is important for democrats and republicans. >> senate majority leader chuck schumer described commerce secretary nominee as an intelligent and capable man. homeland security nominee
8:09 pm
kristi noem met with a pair of democrats including gary peters of michigan. while missouri senator josh holley emphasized the urgency to confirm kash patel as fbi director and pam bondi as ag. all this is happening as president-elect trump rang the opening bell. and also was named "time" magazine's person of the year again. a year in which he survived being shot, overcame political law fair leading to what many have deemed dubious convictions. and of course rewinning election and commanding fashion including a sweep of all seven battleground states. >> trace: we are going to show the people who are unhappy about him becoming person of the year again. kevin thank you. let's bring in aaron wexler and former l.a. g.o.p. vice chair... thank you both for coming on. it's amazing.
8:10 pm
pete hegseth making his way through the gauntlet of both republicans and democrats and he had this to say. >> we advise and consent with senators. >> it feels like the resistance is kind of pulling back a little bit. what you think? >> i think it is and thank you for having me on. i think this game that they played unfortunately matt gates was may be a sacrificial lamb. what's happening now, there's a mandate that's been out there for the people and the people put president trump in the house and the senate and to really change to make the military is not a social experiment. it's there to protect us as we just saw in the earlier statement -- segment that the borders are wide open.
8:11 pm
7-year-olds are being killed and god bless tom homan. i was able to meet him yesterday and i temper what he said about brandon johnson. people like pete hegseth, tom homan, we need them in there and we need them in there yesterday. we have to make this thing right and there has to be accountability for what's been going on over the last four years. >> trace: we have a couple of new poles here. i find these fascinating. not because they are surprising but because it's still really is having this drag impact even after the election. this is focusing on the condition of the economy and it says... look at the number on the right-hand side of the screen. 77% of the population are saying only fair, it is poor, they are struggling. the left just will not accept it >> the american people are completely tired of being lied to at this point. we are seeing this with the
8:12 pm
drones that are sitting above new jersey right now. the left has said don't believe your lying eyes and don't believe that the economy is bad that all your costs are wrapped. that there are drones above your house. they think they can just talk their way out of it and that's exactly why we saw the popular vote go to donald trump because joe biden is so deeply unpopular. the policies are so deeply unpopular and the american people are tired of being disrespected by the current government. >> trace: this is how will history judge his presidency, talking about joe biden. one of the greatest, 7%. above average, 17%. you couples bottom numbers together it is 75% of the population are like you know what it's not the right guy. is not the right president. what you think? >> i think that's a very accurate probably more considering who actually answers poles. it's good to be something the democrats will have to deal with
8:13 pm
for decades to come. we see they have not owned what they've done. it's always our fault, it's always misogyny and racism and sexism is the issue of why they lost. keep going, i'm here for it. let's have a sweep of conservatism moving forward, i'm fine with that. >> trace: you had clay higgins going after christopher ray. it's kind of fascinating but this back-and-forth is really instructive and people should watch this. >> did you have confidential human sources dressed as trump supporters inside the capitol on january 6 the prior to the doors being opened? >> i have to be very careful. >> it should be a know, can you not tell the american people know we did not have confidential human sources dressed as trump supporters positioned inside the capital. >> you should not read anything into my decisions not to share.
8:14 pm
>> trace: people are reading into it. it goes back to the top of this conversation which is we are not getting straight answers and people are wondering why. >> at this point the difference between an all right or right-wing conspiracy theory... if you had said this happened just a few weeks ago the left would've called you crazy and i don't think that anyone believes it's a coincidence that chris ray resigned the day before this report came out. we are finally getting this information and they think they are trying to preempt knowing that kash patel and the administration is coming into expose this. >> trace: great to have you both, thank you. the fox news at night common sense department is not fooled one bit by the slogan of all the news that's fit to print. common sense things a more accurate slogan would be all the news that is fit to print unless
8:15 pm
it hurts the home team. the times admitted that the biden administration oversaw the largest immigration surge in u.s. history. let's be honest, the biggest surge into hundred 48 years is significant information. what it's not new information. we've been reporting it for the past year, an election year, which is why it was not fit to print. this information that is and was detrimental to biden and/or harris. but now that harris has lost and biden is leaving, why not start the presses. then there is cnn, the company that calls itself the most trusted name in news. they are now informing us that inflation heated up last month. what about last year? what about the last four years. not only has cnn failed to report the inflation story cat it has actively tried to refute this it -- the story by touting... it's only a matter of time before they blame trump for both
8:16 pm
inflation and immigration. common sense has an idea. maybe "the new york times" and cnn should join forces. joint slogans. something like the most trusted name in news that's fit to omit. let's bring in former democrat natalie jean buys in her along with brittney hopper. think you both for coming on. i just have to get your take because you see "new york times" coming out with these stories and cnn is like inflation is really coming back. you think where have you been for the past four years. >> i was just at the grocery store and i spent $11 on a dozen eggs and a seven dollars for butter. you tell me about inflation. we always see this. we know what we're going to get right before trump comes in and like you just said they are going to immediately blame trump. this is what we've been seeing
8:17 pm
inflation going up for the past four years again for the past 12 years of the 16 years we've seen a democrat in the white house. we've seen inflation go up. we cannot blame trump for this. this is on biden and i'm... >> this is cnbc reacting to donald trump at the stock exchange. >> sort of a show of force of american business. >> i have to tell you i'm trying to remember what i've seen such ... >> i don't think we've ever seen this. >> these are people who are all walks of business. >> trace: you see a lot of hate toward trump. the problem is this is -- these people are elated to have them at the stock exchange. >> if you listen to his speech it was hyping people up about the economy which i think is part of the president's job.
8:18 pm
i think people are already feeling it even though he's got -- not yet in the white house. >> trace: you talk about some people being happy that he was person of the year and then you have don lemon. don lemon said the following, is this a joke? did we get something wrong, did someone skim us or are we sure about that. there's a convicted felon on the cover of "time" magazine as person of the year. maybe we are being scammed. i wonder, there is probably a reason why don lemon is no longer relevant because he's not reading the country very well. he has stuck in something from eight years ago. >> well said. that's exactly right. but when does don lemon not throw an adult temper tantrum. the majority of the country voted for trump. we saw this. it wasn't just race. this was a rent tsunami since we have not seen since the early 80s. clearly the american people
8:19 pm
spoke and "time" magazine chose trump. i thought it was a great choice. this is a historical time, we haven't seen something like this since the 80s. the american people spoke. he won the majority vote and the electoral vote. this was a great choice. don lemon, i'm not surprised. >> trace: scott jennings said this about the ceo shooting. >> we don't know anything about the person who shot a trump. we don't know... there's a lot of shootings. [simultaneous talking] >> there's a lot of things that are hidden from us and then this guy shoots and we know more in w about all these other people and i wonder why that is. >> trace: we ask the very same question. we don't have any information. i don't know why...
8:20 pm
>> it's amazing we still don't have information about who the attempt on trump's life or anything like that. the response to this murder has been absolutely insane. suddenly it's a conversation about health care when really just it's of cold-blooded murder. even what we have found out about this suspect, they would not be on this man side because he was allegedly raised with a silver spoon in his mouth. he's a privileged white man who has had some health struggles but suddenly he's their hero and meanwhile they want blood from daniel penny in the same week for something that was an accident and this man shot another man in cold blood from behind and he's their hero. its hypocrisy from the left. >> trace: thank you both. >> i think now is the time to get our hostages... if they want to say they are a
8:21 pm
real country that they are not islamic extremists, then they should turn over our people. >> the father of an american still being held by terrorists is calling on the president-elect to help bring them home. let's bring in... we're all pulling for your son to come home. i want you to know that the president trump and president-elect trump, i wonder if you think, are you confident he's going to change things and bring your son and other americans home. >> it's been 433 days since i last saw and talked to my son. yes the statement that president-elect trump made on social media was impactful and we've been missing that type of language for about a year since my sun was taken. they've created such a momentum in the negotiations. we have those teams, the
8:22 pm
existing and ministry and as well as the incoming a administration working 24/7 trying to get a deal as the president-elect said before january 20th. if not god help them. >> trace: i wonder what you think that the new administration can do differently that this administration has not achieved yet. >> exactly the type of language that the president talked about. he said the fact that you see there are seven u.s. citizens being held hostage out of the 100 hostages today. evan u.s. citizens have been held hostage. i like to talk a bit about what does that mean hell to pay if they do not come out. i think they need to get a very clear message of what that means. not just thomas but around, türkiye, qatar and others that have been keeping those hamas leaders able to stay in those fancy hotels without being
8:23 pm
brought to justice. >> trace: we're pulling for you and you're sun. all the americans who are still over there and all the hostages who are being held by hamas. best of luck to you. keep us up to speed on what's going on with your son. we wish you the best of luck. >> christmas is coming and hanukkah. we ask that the people pray for us and hopefully our families can be home again. do not want to have another empty seat at our holiday table again. >> trace: thank you for coming on, we appreciate it. brand-new information about the ceo murder suspect luigi mangione as authorities look into his possible motives. and were to be stand on the push for answers about those mysterious drones flying over the east coast? there appeared to be more drones over both new jersey and connecticut. we will show you the new video next. the president-elect trump officially "time" magazine's person of the year for the second time much to the dismay of the liberal media and
8:24 pm
8:29 pm
>> trace: we are learning that luigi mangione, the suspect in the shooting death of united health care ceo brian thompson was never a client of the health insurance company even though police say he named the company in his manifesto. law enforcement sources now say his hate for health care could be the motive for the murder. all the reddit posts alleged to be his say he injured his back surfing back in january of 2022
8:30 pm
and was devastated that he was destined to have chronic pain in his back and. pain that was apparently relieved after back surgery last july. mcdonald's reportedly hired private security to protect their workers. more breaking news as it comes in. >> it's so low you don't hear it. >> it looks like a spaceship. it's like a small plane. >> last night we had a number of other people including a commanding officer from the coast guard who said that one of their lifeboats was followed by between 12 and 30 of these drones. >> it's astounding to me that this is even happening without any type of intervention. >> trace: many questions still are very few answers about the mysterious drones in the skies above new jersey. let's bring the host of the
8:31 pm
aaron cohen show podcast. along with new jersey state assemblyman... it's great to have you on. you are naturally the first person because you saw drones tonight above your town. tell us about that. >> literally leaving for your show there were seven drones above lake of the lilies in point pleasant beach right in the heart of the jersey shore. any federal government official saying that these are not unmanned aerial drones doesn't know what they are talking about. they are at low altitude, they are huge. it's a very concerning situation for all of us. >> trace: there was a back-and-forth today tween jackie heinrich and john kirby and listen to them. >> how can you credibly tell people that there isn't a public safety threat, there's no national security threat, there's no reason to believe a foreign government is involved. >> because the analysis thus far in an investigation that is ongoing has not revealed any
8:32 pm
national security or malicious intent or criminal activity. i would remind you we are at the beginning here, not the end. >> trace: what analysis? of what? they don't know anything and yet their investigation is finding things that they are not sharing with us. >> you cannot claim or publicly say that we are at the beginning of this thing and that we are investing any yet if you don't know what's going on then you are being completely senseless. you have to treat this because of the fact -- let's talk about drones. they can be weapon eyes, they can conduct surveillance. they can attack vital infrastructure. these are the most actionable weapons in the history of modern warfare and they are low-tech and she. it's not how you treat these investigation. you come out and you need to say we don't know what this is otherwise you are being senseless and being irresponsible and you are
8:33 pm
opening up this entire dialogue to the what ifs which creates more fear. >> the senator in your state had something interesting to say about this. let's play it and i will get your response. >> i've been a little frustrated and transparency and letting people know it's happening is a lot of potentially misinformation to spread. we should know what's going on over our skies. >> trace: this is nonpartisan. everybody is like i don't know what's going on, you tell me. some but he give us some answers >> we are a poor low-rise to society but when we were in the rock are security building in new jersey, we had 100 state legislators from across the spectrum, upper house, lower house. everyone was equally angry at the situation. and with all due respect we are not at the beginning of the situation. the first siding was november 18th. they confirmed to us in the
8:34 pm
briefing that there have been confirmed to sightings every single night since then. one of these was over naval weapons station oral which has very sensitive ordnance and equipment there as well. if these are foreign adversaries with these drones and we are a month into this already and we haven't done nearly enough, i can't believe that our government is... >> trace: this was the still picture that you took. this is in your hometown and you had these lights coming out. what fascinates fascinates me is white -- i don't know why we haven't gotten any good video of these drones. we've got google cameras in space that can spot my backyard furniture and make it out to us grew in the thing and we can't get a shot of one of these drones, what does it look like to you? >> as someone who has taken my phone and on the way here today i tried to get photos of them. at night it becomes a blur
8:35 pm
because they are moving slowly and they are high enough where you can't really get a good quality photo. have to imagine the military has some assets where they could get a couple. >> trace: you would think that. it feels like we as a nation are flat-footed, might be too much of a hard knock on the government what it feels like we are kind of frozen. >> it's time for a state... if they want to downplay this because they don't know what it is, i believe it's time for the state to put together a task force just like we saw with the governor in texas on the border. all those illegals coming over, all those killers and. it's time to put together a task force and time to educate law enforcement and start giving them tools to be able to spot these drones, get cameras on the drones because of where they're flying and mobilize anti-drone ability which would be mats, jammers. it's time to get proactive
8:36 pm
otherwise who knows what this thing could turn into. >> trace: are you concerned, do these things frighten you at all? >> are state police put up aircraft, they sat almost over top of one. they said there were at least 6 feet long. these are not hobbyist drones. the government and our briefing basically confirmed that it's not them. so what else is it? we are very concerned. >> trace: thank you. coming up our fox news at night team out and about in d.c. to ask residents how they really feel about government waste. >> do you think the government spends too much money? >> generally i think maybe. >> by definition... >> we are with fox news. >> that's all right. >> the government recently spent 100,0002 study if tequila origin makes fish more aggressive.
8:37 pm
>> it's stupid. >> i want to see what the results of the study were. >> trace: plus what the coming cuts to government waste could mean for the future of dei. how president-elect trump is shaking things up. we are going to give you some keen insight into that next. i go by jackie, i'm 44 years old. i had three kids at the time and single mother. i was working 60 hours a week, still couldn't pay the bills. skipped meals so that they could eat.
8:38 pm
8:41 pm
hillsdale was founded in 1844. we're passing on a cultural heritage, the culture of the west. when the federal government started giving money to colleges, we didn't take it. that independence has allowed us to stay with our mission that we established 175 years ago. because we don't accept federal money. we are free to concentrate on the mission of the college. we care about freedom, and that affiliates us with the free institutions of america. 8:42 pm
>> trace: more breaking news coming in. we have brand-new video of a deadly small plane crash onto a highway north of new york city tonight. one person killed, and other seriously injured when the aircraft crashed on to interstate 684. right near the new york connecticut stateline. they say the plane count -- plane came down after moments... two people reportedly on board the aircraft. we will keep you up to speed as we get more information on the
8:43 pm
cause and more video and information about the plane crash itself. it appears the residents of deep blue d.c. are not big fans of doge. when the fox news at night team ask them about government spending tonight, we got some revealing answers. >> do you think the government spends too much money? >> of course. >> by definition. >> do think the government spends too much money? >> that's a loaded question. >> the government recently spent 750,002 study whether if there was one small step for man or one small step for a man. how does that make you feel. >> i would wonder how they spend that money. >> stupid. >> good use of your money? >> no absolutely not. >> aside from whether they should have spent it, how do you spend $750,000 on the question. >> 1,000,002 study if cocaine
8:44 pm
makes japanese quail more promiscuous. >> i know they're not doing that >> why not who cares. >> 100,002 study if tequila origin makes sunfish more aggressive. >> sunfish. >> who cares its 100,000 compared to how much is our military spending. >> good use of taxpayer dollars? >> not a good use of my money. >> we -- you think we should reevaluate some aspect of our spending. >> absolutely. >> of course. >> yes top to bottom. >> yes, please. >> trace: the second trump administration is cracking down on government waste, expected to spell the end of progressive dei initiatives across the u.s. let's bring in... great to have you on the show. i wanted to say you wrote an open letter to the incoming trumpet cabinet on how to shut down dei. here's an example of it. you say my primary guidance for
8:45 pm
trump's cabinet is to shut down all dei programs and to terminate the employment of all policy officials responsible for those programs effective immediately. there is an in ole miss advantage to acting quickly and aggressively on the first day when the public is most willing to grant the new administration discretion. are you confident they will act rapidly? >> i've had discussions with many of the people who are preparing for aspect for those teams. the president has an opportunity to sign an executive order on day one instructing the abolition of all dei departments, policies and programs across the entire federal government. it's up to those cabinet members to make sure it's done quickly, it's done aggressively and it's unsuccessfully. i later a plan that will help them do so. it's popular with the american people. it's especially important as people are looking for places to save money. the government spends billions of dollars per year on dei.
8:46 pm
that's not only a waste of money, it's antithetical to trump and his movement and his philosophy. >> trace: it feels like the walls of dei are starting to crumble. "the wall street journal" had the following, federal appeals court rejected the years long push to set racial and gender targets for the boards of its listed companies dealing in major blow to one of the most prominent efforts to promote diversity in corporate america. what you think of that? >> that's absolutely right that it's collapsing everywhere, especially in the private sector. walmart has slashed its de i've, boeing has. all these other companies have realized that it is poisonous to culture and it undermines the actual purpose of the business which is to create products and services that people want to buy. the american people have figured it out very quickly and simply. judge people on their individual accomplishments, not their ancestry. that's what we should be trying
8:47 pm
to do and president trump has a historic chance to make that a reality in the federal government and all across the united states. >> trace: it was interesting in this story becomes a comes locally. this is a professor who was doing a job interview and because he wrote the following review it has almost ruined his career and it certainly has impacted his life. he wrote the following quoting here candidate x is lively and charming and yes black which is great. i can't sit at -- say that i found his sophistication and experience up to the level of our top candidates. giving that honest assessment literally put his life at holt for a year. >> it's not only their but we've uncovered evident to us -- evidence that they are explicitly disk emanating on the basis of race with their target hiring programs, there dei hiring preferences.
8:48 pm
this person was too honest to say your skin colour is not a job qualification. we all want diversity and want to give everyone a fair chance and we want to have the best candidate regardless of their background. but the skin colour itself is not a job qualification. in academia, saying something that is so simple that has the support of virtually all americans can be a death sentence for your career and that's what this professor is going through. it's a shame, it has to stop. the best way to not discriminate on the basis of race is to stop discrimination which means stopping dei. >> trace: great to have you on the show, thank you. >> thank you. >> trace: president-elect trump named times person of the year again. much to the dismay of the liberal media and democrats. what you think? let us know. we are back with the nightcap, it could be let's go find out and you next.
8:53 pm
8:54 pm
it's not often the anger of the show because it the night. we got out of the way earlier so i'm glad we're done with that. i want to know what you think about the trump person of the year pick. >> it was funny i will give you that. great pick, i think the american people whether you like him or don't like him, if you're going to pick someone who's going to sell some magazines, the guy who was shot, one of reelection, works for me. >> trace: i looked down at wall street today and you see what's happening as he rings the bell. there is genuine excitement. in 2016 those people would've been... and others genuine excitement. >> i think that there's a different energy that we are feeling and a lot of people are alive and i think this was a great pick. he survived two assassination attempts. that deserves a picture in "time" magazine, the cover. >> ethic is a great choice.
8:55 pm
millions of people love him and are excited for a second term in office. >> i think this is about influence, the men of the year. his influence has been undeniable. i think it's well-deserved. >> trace: julia says its great. he defied everyone and everything they throughout him. unstoppable donald j. trump as the person of the year was the corrected only possible choice. christopher, no one comes close to trump winning. diana strongly approved, waiting for trump to receive the nobel peace prize now. and g, excellent choice. he is the most deserving with everything he's overcome. after that huge success of a campaign, great choice. thank you for watching america's late news, fox news and i. i'm trace gallagher in los angeles. we will see you back here for friday nights.
8:58 pm
