and national security facilities. they have now expanded from coast to coast. while the number of answers about what's going on has actually stayed about the same. prompting local and state officials to demand more information from the federal government. new jersey governor phil murphy writing to to president joe biden this week saying, quote, it has become apparent that more resources are needed to fully understand what is behind this activity. murphy went on to to say at his thursday letter that reported drone sightings pall squarely on the shoulders of the federal government because existing laws and policies keep state and local law enforcement from counteracting the drones. in a joint statement, the white house, fbi and department of homeland security said week that many of the drones are actually manned aircraft operating lawfully, meaning they're not -- they say they're not drones at all. and the federal government added that there's no evidence of a security threat as their investigation if with state authorities continues.

a drone expert tells fox he agrees with the feds' assessment, and he thinks most of these sightings are, indeed, airplanes or jets. >> when you look into the sky at night, anything you see like an airplane can suddenly appear to your eyes as if it's standing still and not moving when it's really going hundreds of miles an hour. >> reporter: but now that the incidents are no longer confined to the northeast with reported sightings as far away as california, residents believe there's more to this story. >> i can't believe they're planes. they fly at a slow pace sometimes, and then there are such bright lights with the green and red going. i look in the sky with an app that, you know, would say there's planes in the sky like flight aware, and i don't see any planes when these things are coming past my property. >> reporter: white house national security communications

really was brought up yearly, if not every six months in pennsylvania, so this isn't a case that a anybody has forgotten about. the irony added to the outrage is these children were sent away for minor first-time drug offenses. and when president biden issued a statement regarding the pardons and clemency for nearly 1500 individual, he wrote, quote: america was built on the promise of possibility and second chances. fox news is waiting to hear a back from the white house on former judge mike conahan if was included when those kids were not. he if a fellow judge were convicted in 2011 for raking in millions off the backs of children in what is known as that cash for kids scandal which included one teen who took his own life after being put in a for-profit facility. governor josh shapiro feels the president made a major misstep here. >> i thought the sentence that the judge got was too light, and the fact that he's been allowed out over the last years because

democratic strategist harley litman. harley, i'm going to begin with you but, first, i want to play a little bit more of what the pennsylvania governor had to say. >> i do feel strongly that president biden got it absolutely wrong. this was not only a black eye on the community, the kids for cash scandal, but it also affected families in really deep and profound and sad ways. alicia: so, harley, we heard in alex's reporting there that this had to do with people who were at home serving air sentences during covid. there are 1500 of these. but this case should have been paid a little bit more attention to? >> yes, probably. but at the same time, i'm a believer in forgiveness, compassion, second chances. so i have a little bit of sympathy in this one. alicia: joe, your response on

that? >> i'm stunned. i believe that the only thing that you have in this world that should be sacrosanct is childhood innocence. the notion that you are not defined by the worst things you've ever done, and you are not limited by those parameters as well. and so these children had their futures stolen. they had their innocence stolen. by a man who claimed to be scranton joe. he should have known that this blight on the justice system that happened in his own backyard was not something that should have been dealt with with kid gloves when the man at the center of this the was stealing the future of our children. and so i think it is par for the course for a man that wildly told the american people that it was republicans that were going to put y'all back in chains to black people, and now here we have a man being given clemency

when he quite literally put children who didn't deserve it back into bondage. alicia: and there was finish. >> it's crazy to me. alicia: there was a 17-year-old boy who was convicted on a very minor drug charge who did, ultimately, commit suicide, did not get a second chance. let's move on to the presidential pardons here because we have new fox polling out on this asking americans about how they felt, one, about how -- about biden's pardon for his son hunter. 63% disapproving but, joe, i also want to take a look at the pardon that trump has promised for those convicted for january 6 evident. 6 2% -- 6th. 62% of americans disapprove of that idea. should the president-elect rethink this? >> i think there has to be a level of discernment for individuals who did not enter the capitol, individuals who have had their entire lives destroyed simply by being outside the building or having their cell phone ping a tower in the surrounding area.

so, yes, there are certainly people who deserve to be given a second chance who have been vilified and branded as insurrectionists, a scarlet letter from which they shall never recover. i do believe the president has a responsibility, in fact, i do believe it is part of the mandate that has been given. not all people on january 6th are created equal, and i believe the president and the people around him recognize that fact. alicia: harley, a response on that? >> yeah. i think the problem with the president's pardon of his son is that he said he would not do that. truthfulness and credibility is everything. and when you say you're going to do something or not do something, you need to keep your word. that's a serious problem. on the other hand, he's a father, and anyone who has a child could understand how a father would want to pardon his son who otherwise may end up in jail for the rest of his life. alicia: now, you know, republicans, as you know, joe,

are dealing with their own challenges right now on the hill. you have these trump trump nominees who have also received some pushback from fellow republicans who are getting blowback from maga republicans themselves. and you had republican senator thom tillis from north carolina talk about. that's take a listen. >> they may be making a long-term mistake if they're not careful. once you've attacked somebody and they vote no, it's very easy for them to vote no for the remainder of the congress. so that should be kept in mind. alicia: the message there from the senators, be careful here. >> look, first and foremost, we should not be giving a quarter to members of the senate threatening the president-elect with no votes to undermine an agenda that the entire country just voted to bring into fruition. so, yes, we can have honest conversations about the nominees, but the president was elected. he won all the seven swing statements. the american people have placed

their trust in his hands. he has the right to nominate who he sees fit to put that agenda in place, and i don't believe we can talk about it being vengeance or president trump's revenge. there will be an era of accountability that will given on the 20th of january when we begin to hold the people accountable who have undermined our right, our liberties and effectively the people's government. alicia: harley, i want the take a quick look, i don't have much time left, at the economy. in our fox news polling, you can take a look for yourself about how americans feel about the economic conditions, the nation as a whole, only 23% feel positive and 77% feel we negative, yet the president's saying he's leaving while not perfect, an economy that's sill the strongest in the world. americans don't peel that way. >> no. this is a failure of the biden administration. he has the lowest exit polls of any president since president jimmy carter. and that's for obvious reasons.

anybody who went shopping in the grocery store in the last few years saw prices going ridiculously high. inflation. that really took a toll. and then also you look at the border, 8 million people have entered the united states since president biden became president. of that, 60% entered illegally. so between inflation and a bad economy and between the border being out of control, this was all manageable and this was all a fixable, with but the biden administration didn't do their job, just being very candid about it. and the consequences are an election with a republican president. the democrats got what they deserved. alicia: and i am out of time the, but i want to thank you, harley litman, joe pinion. thank you both so much for your time. griff? griff: great discussion. meanwhile, the woman behind the infamous duke lacrosse rape accusations now admits she lied.

crystal magnum admitted she lied about the accusations. for more on this, let's bring in former fbi special agent and fox news contribute ernie coal peaker. nicole, i'm glad we're talking about this. first, i want folks to hear from crystal magnum. take a listen. >> i testified falsely against them by saying that they raped me when they didn't. and that was wrong. and i betrayed the trust of a lot of other people who believed in me. alicia: nicole, there's just so much to say on this when there's a false accusation of rape. can i just get your response? >> well, when i was an fbi agent, i myself worked special assault cases on a regular basis, so i operated all of the the -- on cruise ships, believe

it or not, and there is one thing that i always said when i would go speak to individuals, you cannot lie about this. this is a very, very serious allegation. and, you know, as an fbi agent, lying is a title 18 u.s. code 10 1001, it's a federal crime, and this individual, she lied back in 2006. and you know what that does? that destroys people's lives. it destroys their rep thattations, andal -- reputations. and although it was later discovered it was not true, there was no credible evidence, no dna, the taj that you can to to the -- the damage that you can do to someone's reputation really not be undone. so i find it quite unconscionable that someone would do this but, sadly, it happens a lot. and so the difficult part is she's not going to be charged for lying because that statute of limitations highways expired -- has expired. alicia: these players were dragged through the mud. and it's not just this false accusation.

the d.a. at the time, who ultimately was disbarred, withheld a critical dna information. listen to what trey gowdy had to say on that. >> what a horrible day for our justice system, to have a prosecutor willing to withhold exculpatory evidence. that is not what prosecutors do. i'm glad she finally had a come to jesus moment, it was just a couple of decades too late. alicia: okay. so, you know, he had to say what he had to say. and i think a lot of people agree this whole thing is just heartbreaking. but i do want to move on while i have you here to the murder of brian thompson, the united health care ceo, because we do know that the vice president here, mangione, he waived his right to extradition. but there's a hearing on tuesday, and here's d.a. alvin bragg on that. >> the -- may waive, but that waiver is not complete until a court can proceed if being -- proceeding, which my understanding from court officials in pennsylvania cannot

if happen until tuesday. so until that time we're going to continue to press forward on parallel paths, and we'll be ready whether he is going to waive extra tradition or contest extradition. alicia: officially, he -- initially, he said he was going to waive it, then they had this hearing. the d.a. makes it sound like it's up in the air still. what's your thoughts? >> initially, he was not going to waive the extra are the decision, and now he's probably had some conversations with his attorney. but again, it has to be formalize toed in a court setting, and and so that's going to be happening next week. one thing that i find very fascinating as this case is unfolding is that the fbi knew about this individual because the san francisco police department had given them a tip. there was actually a wanted poster, a missing poster, from the mother who had filed a missing report with san francisco police department on november 18th. the san francisco police

department contacted the violent crimes tax force of the fbi, and they actually interviewed the night before her son was arrested and said is in your orange ands she said he strongly resembles my son, but she wasn't completely confident it was the her son. and then the next day he's arrested. and they're saying hat nypd did not know about it because the fbi hadn't provided that information. of i would like to know which violent crime task force it was that interviewed the mother. if it was the one in new york, there should be members of mypd on that task force. again, i would like to understand why the fbi did not give that tip immediately. to have a conversation with his mother, i would think that would merit a phone call immediately, sunday night, continue care what time of the day to say, look ors this is the intel that we got. again, i think more information will come out as the investigation if continues. it kind of trickles out as we learn, but this is a very, very disturbing situation, very tragic, and i pray that justice is served.

alicia: and a lot of people are wondering why we haven't heard more from the family, but we will see. nicole parker, so glad to have you help us sort this out. have a good one. >> thank you. griff: just a few hours ago the u.s. secret service took a woman into custody after she tried to to scale temporary fencing around the white house. they add that the suspect did not make it through and that there was no impact to anyone there protecting. no word on what the woman's motive may have been. she was arrested for unlawful entry. alicia? alicia: griff, former house speaker nancy pelosi underwent hip replacement surgery at a u.s. med medical center in germany. this comes after her office said she suffered an injury and was admitted to a hospital in limit 'em burg -- luxembourg on friday. pelosi is on the mend. griff. griff: threats of members of congress are off the charts.

share with love. ♪ if. griff: a new report by nonpartisan government watchdog group open the books shows the biden administration has spent hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars on research related to misinformation, an almost 4,000% increase from trump's first term. for more on the findings, we're joined by the the open the books ceo john hart. john, it's staggering when you look at the chart of what was spent starting in 2017. it was just over $300,000. by the first trump administration. and then you get to 22021, and it's over $126 million. what do you make of what you found. >> yeah, that's right, griff. it's great to be on. look, our report shows that the government is using your tax dollars to silence your voice. and so since 2021, as the graph

showed, the biden-harris add administration spent about $26 the 7 million to combat what they call the disinformation. or misinformation, rather. in the digital age, misinformation and lies are a real problem, but the role of government so to secure our liberties, not to censor our language. and the problem is when you give government the power to police what hay -- they call misinformation, they're going to pull a lot of value information and perspective out of the public square. the best way the counter is with more information, more debate and not less. and the government has put an ideological filter, and they've censored information they don't like. and that's a serious problem and abuse of power. griff: well, and that's the key point, i think, john, is that while they're spending all this money, they were collaborating with tech companies like zuckerberg's meta and others to silence and and to censor critics. in fact, constitutional law professor and fox news contributor jonathan turley agrees with you. listen here.

>> the biden administration is, in my view, the most indiana-free speech administration if -- anti-free speech addles managers since the adams administration. it has helped fund this massive censorship system that federal court called perfectly orwellian. griff: you think that this is going to continue to be looked at with the incoming trump administration? >> i think doge is going to take a very hard look at this and clamp down on this kind of spending. a good example is when you think back to the covid days, particularly in the early days, there were a lot of concerns that putting maxes on todaylers -- masks on todaylers, particularly with developmental issues, speech impairments was going the set them back, and those concerns were described at mess information at the time. and we -- misinformation at the time. and we now know, in fact, some of those policies did cause additional developmental delays and issues. so parents dealing with those struggle, the last thing they need is a government bureaucrat

proximity off its stern by numerous drones. why can't we bag at least one of these drones and get to the bottom of it. we even tracked them, i asked secretary mayorkas at a briefing, a zoom briefing, why we can't follow them, find out where they're going. they're coming from somewhere, okay? you can't seem to do that. why can't we follow them and find what their origin is. many of them seem to be coming from the ocean. one -- i was with the sheriff the other day on the beach, and we saw video and we talked to one -- heard her, one of his deputies talk about how he had seen 50 of them coming from the ocean to mainland. is there something out there? we don't have the capability to do that? if -- we don't have control over our air space? and just remember, ladies and gentlemen, the feckless response to the chinese communist party's spy balloon when that thing traversed america and went over one very sensitive base

including the b2 bombers base after another. we did nothing except saying, oh, it's a pie balloon, or is it? if or is it a weather balloon? i still can't get over that. the elusive maneuvering of these drones, i would suggest, suggests sophistication that begs the question whether they have been deployed to test our defense capabilities, or worse by violent dictatorships, perhaps russia, china, iran or north korea. i mean, they have the capability, and they certainly have the motive. the pentagon has said the drones are not ours. aye written defense secretary lloyd austin asking the pen gone to authorize the use of force to take down one or more of these unmanned threats to uncover the mystery. bring them down over the goes or an area where there's no population. bring them down and find out who's doing it. knowing that drone warfare has

radically changed war fighting in ukraine and russia, the middle east and elsewhere with, this is not the time to trivialize or dismiss a threat. i want to express the profound thanks that i and my colleagues have to both ocean county sheriff and if monmouth county sheriff for doing all within their power and authority to aggressively investigate and track drone appearances. they are doing an amazing job with. as many of you know, state and local law enforcement is precluded by law from taking more decisive action which is why dod must. they are the ones-the ability and the authority to act. congress, yes, and the president, yes, need to move quickly to expand state and local authorities, powers. but dod has it right now. sheriff golden wrote me a few days ago requesting legislation to empower the state police to seriously protect at-risk persons and infrastructure and,

syria. trey. >> reporter: alicia, good afternoon. the does come as we're learning from u.s. secretary of state antony blinken that the united states and the new syrian rebel controlling this country are in communication. they're talking about the security situation in the middle east and also missing journalist austin tice. all of this comes though as the israelis continue airstrikes against syria. they don't want any of the weapons from the as as a sad regime to to fall into the hands of the rebels --s assad regime -- we visited one of those sites this week. we just arrived at one of the locations the israelis struck this week on the outskirts of capital of damascus. this appears to be a research and production facility. when you look at some of the documents that are here in english, you can see drones and other information about rockets that the syrians were researching to produce. there's a diagram of a drone, and you look at just some of the

words on this, it says rocket booster right there, and then it goes through the difference types of launchers. for rockets, engine tests. here is a list of material that you need to build these drones and those rockets. if another die gram of a drone -- diagram of a drone. this is an indication that the israelis had intelligence about what exactly they were hitting here in syria. they don't want this information and these production facilities to fall into the hands of hds. these documents were just a drop in the bucket of what we found across syria when the assad regime left this country and collapsed. rebel forces have done nothing to maintain any of the documents or security at different facilities across not just damascus, but other major population certains. we do anticipate we'll continue to find more information about

of whatst it's all about. and if these -- what it's all about. these young men who play in this game today, and they represent the young men and women of the military academy and the naval aa cad amy, they are the best of us. to be the here to celebrate this game is an honor every year. it just doesn't get old. alicia: john, it's alicia acuna here. you're a navy veteran. go navy, i know, for you, but you have an interesting connection to both schools. can you tell us about that? >> yeah. so when i graduated from high school, i actually went to to west point. i was a member of the class of 1995 at west point. and if any of my west point classmates from back then are watching, they'll knoll that i graduated -- didn't graduate with a blue tar sky like 0.0 gpa. [laughter] it was obviously a tough experience. going to a service academy is very difficult. but what's great about the military and this game is that it shows you that you can rise above adversity. and as i left west point, i was

able to matriculate at villanova university, do navy rotc there and then do 20 years as a navy relate concern veteran, two of those tours working at the naval academy. so i have a very interesting viewpoint into both schools. and i can tell you that, you know, the veracity of the education and the experience they get there is second to none. you just have, you have the very best and if brightest of this nation who are attending this game today and playing in this game today. so, you know, for me i love to sing both alma maters because both schools mean a lot to me. griff: in that moment during the game, john, when they sing the songs, it's really, it's hard to not have goose bumps as you hear it. i also want to talk about what with's really fun every year is the unveiling of the uniforms and how they honor military history. in this case this year you've

got the black knights are honoring the 101st airborne from the battle of the bulge in world war ii. meanwhile, the midshipmen, navy, honoring the jolly roger, the vf-61 flying squadron from world war ii. that's why navy's motto today is fear the bones. tell us about it. >> well, it's emblematic of what we do as alumni associations both at army and navy, is that we reach back to the past and the units where our graduates go out and serve. they mean a lot to us. is so whether you're wearing a patch which you'll see a patch on every single uniform today the representing either a branch of the army or a division of the navy, they are representing, you know, the areas that they're about to to go out and serve. and so, you know, being a part of the recognition of that service, you know, i mean, we
