not. >> i think it's problematic for the ability of the press to cover public figures. this is a case in which donald trump is the most public of all figures, and it didn't meet what george stephanopoulos said, in my opinion. and those who believe in free speech, like person to my right, joe, we want to keep some penumbra where you get to say things about public figures, cabinet nominees like pete hegseth and kash patel are suggesting that they, too, could take people to court over what's been said about them. >> even pollsters are on notice. ann selzer from the des moines register, who put out a suppression poll on the eve of the election that had kamala up three. she lost iowa by 13. she might have to be held accountable. >> i'm doing this not because i want to. i'm doing this because i feel i have an obligation to. i'm going to be bringing one against the people in iowa, their newspaper, which had a

say whatever you want maliciously about a public figure and just have no consequences. and these consequences, financial consequences at a time when the media is not doing that well, do you think that's going to change the culture in the newsroom? >> i think it already has. i mean, you're seeing much more balanced coverage now than we did in 2017. certainly. i mean, it was i mean, look, it was a woke reign of terror is what we've been calling the last 12 years. if you sort of start with black lives matter protests in 2013 and you go to say, the end of this year, it's been 12 years of a kind of public panic, a kind of moral panic by the elites. it does feel like it's settling down to some more rationality. so we'll see. >> we've broken the fever, we believe, but we're not going to diagnose it officially. we are going to say that the drone situation is off the rails. here's john kirby just a little while ago. >> to date. our assessment is that this is lawful legal, commercial, hobbyist and even law enforcement aircraft

activity. some of it's manned, some of it's unmanned. we absolutely acknowledge that a lot of these are probably drones, but they're they're flying legally hobbyists. >> these are hobbyists flying, flying military style drones in formation over military bases. >> i mean, jesse, this is an extraordinary situation. i mean, you have the president elect and military base commanders all saying that the biden administration is not telling the truth. in fact, we had mayorkas and kirby on thursday and friday both claim that there was no reported or confirmed drone sightings over military bases. it's been widely reported there was a major investigation in the wall street journal for many months, actually for many years of drones being over military bases. they then said today, kirby, in that same comment, he said that they evaluated 5000 cases over the last few days. it's inconceivable to me that they interviewed 5000 people to
