on january 20th, can extend the deadline for that sale and it sounds like he is open to it. >> we will take a look at tiktok. i have a warm spot in my heart for tiktok. because i won youth by 34 points. there are those that say that tiktok had something to do with that. tiktok had an impact. and so we're taking a look at it. we won youth. republicans are always 30 points down in youth. >> peter: remember, the tiktok ban had to do with bipartisan concern that the chinese owners are mining data from u.s. users to use for reasons unknown. another very interesting dynamic to consider here. tiktok is a main competitor to x, owned by trump's new pal, elon musk. trump really seems to value musk's opinion on things. we don't know what kind of influence musk has here. musk doge is the talk of the next congress and it victoria spartz from indiana is so moved

by the idea of reforming the federal government that she is going to do just that just doge. she told speaker johnson she does not want to be on any committees anymore. she is not going to participate in anything with the caucus. just doge. spartz says she is still going to be a registered republican but it still could be a real headache for a house speaker mike johnson who just has a one seat majority as is. back to you. >> brian: wow. only because the other seats had to be filled with special elections, right? what do we have? waltz, we have elise stefanik. >> peter: gaetz. >> brian: those three seats it will expand a little bit. >> peter: sounds like there is ways that trump is manipulate the math. he could pull something like gerald moskowitz to run one of the federal agencies here. >> steve: that would be smart. going back to your other topic

today on tiktok. over the last couple of years we have heard about the security concerns and stuff like that. so many lawmakers and a lot of republicans and donald trump himself used tiktok -- and he was talking about it yesterday at mar-a-lago, about how tiktok helped him, he presumed, with young people. is there a possibility they could actually say we know we have been against it for a long time but now, you know what? maybe it's not so bad. >> peter: just depends on who they are listening to. the senator that he wants to be his secretary of state, marco rubio was one of the most anti-tiktok voices in congress over the last couple years the concern shuffling the chairs in the boardroom with a beijing owned parent company is not going to do anything to change the fact that might be mining data data on their phone. passed the bill with bipartisan

chance to do things the way that he wants to do. >> brian: all right. thank you, peter. >> ainsley: thank you, peter. >> steve: we have been talking over the last couple of weeks and months now about the mandate but also we are realizing that donald trump is in the midst of a money moon period like we have never seen before. i was looking at morning consult. donald trump hit the highest favorability rating since of 2017. that's right after he took office. a majority of people approve of how he is handling the transition and surveys show that people feel broadly warmer about trump than they did over the last two elections. it's not just the rank and file people. average americans. it's people with the biggest wallets in the world. because they realize, you know, that old expression, if you can't beat them, join them. they might not have voted for him in the past. now they're voting for him by supporting his transition and trying to make it effective

because whatever he does, impacts them. >> ainsley: yesterday, i was -- i filled in on outnumbered. and we were watching this presser of donald trump. it was more than an hour. it was so good. it was his first press conference. >> steve: charming. >> ainsley: it was. first press conference since being elected the second time. he covered so many different topics. from the drones to the ceos that want to meet with him. he talked about how all these ceos and individuals which i think is smart on the ceos part want to come to mar-a-lago and be his friend. listen to this. >> how was your meeting with apple ceo tim cook and did you talk about tariffs in that meeting. >> meeting with who? >> apple meeting with tim cook. >> did i have dinner with tim cook. i had dinner with all of them and the rest are coming. this is one of the big differences between we were talking about it before. one of the big differences between the first term and the

first term everybody was fighting me. in this term everybody wants to be my friend. i don't know, my personality changed or something. i had -- as you know i had sundar from google but i had sergei and we do have jeff bezos, amazon coming in some time during the week. >> brian: and, of course elon musk, another business titan and then you have people like david sacks who is going to be head of -- >> steve: crypto. >> brian: head of crypto and ai. he worked with them the whole time. they definitely have influence they want to say in it. a peer that understands business. starting a series of companies, turning into billion dollars success stories beginning but not ending with paypal. you have people that wants to be a part of it. they don't want to be left out. i also think they want to -- i might be naive. but i also think they want to help the country. they see this as an opportunity to help the country. without being put into

ideological box. because this president is so different than a typical republican or democrat. he splits the issu party on a lf issues. a lot of these titans thought they could do the same thing in 2017. if trump could have won, i could have won. now they are seeing what he has gone through and what he has done. the crowds that he got. the popularity that he has, getting the popular vote and then what he was age to do through being assassinated twice and it you know what? maybe i couldn't have done that maybe dive. in and elon musk, i think, made it cool. >> >> steve: to the point about the honeymoon not only with the americans but also with silicon valley for the most part knocke none of the tech companies supported him. they are realizing the importance of being president of the united states. that is one of the reasons why

these tech companies are now each donating a million dollars to donald trump's inauguration. you have got a million from amazon, a million from meta. open ai sam altman gave a million and so did perplexity. donating to an inaugural fund doesn't really ultimately get you noticed much. but, if you don't donate that get you noticed. why didn't we get any money from these people. they are all giving a million dollars. this time for biden, do you know how much google gave? 300,000. mike soft half a million, amazon about a quarter of a million. so, in other words, they are giving so much more money to donald trump. maybe it's a little penance, maybe they want to have a really big party. >> ainsley: called the inaugural fund what does that money go to. >> steve: pay for the new orleans? >> ainsley: for the senators it's not for the administration just for that night. >> steve: the event.

>> brian: they are still investigating the inaugural fund. remember? >> ainsley: yeah. right. what happened with this? i'm thinking to myself two and a half years later the democrats are doing an investigation where that money is coming from and how it was used. >> ainsley: donald trump also talked about the drone spotting. he says the government knows what is hang. he knows that the military, he says, they know where these drones are taking off and where they are landing. he also talked about softbank and he had the ceo of softbank on at the podium with him which is a japanese investment holding company. they invest in companies that are operating solely in technology and that could be anything from the internet to automation. they plan to invest $100 billion. next four years that is double the amount mr. sun, the man there with him made in 2016. and so he said i'm doubling down and president-elect said well, why don't you double down again and give us $200 million listen to this. it was a cute moment.

>> i'm going to ask him right now, would you make it $200 billion. believe it or not, he could actually afford to do that. [laughter] >> would you do that? >> i will try to make it hand. >> 200. [laughter] >> 200 billion investment. >> he is a great because i say oh, president trump, is he a double down president. i'm going to have to double down, you know? $100 billion and 100,000 jobs. this is my confidence level. because that has doubled down. >> carley: 100,000 jobs in america. does that mean chips? >> steve: it's interesting. in 2016, when he said he was going to invest 50 billion and create 50,000 jobs. something like that. some start up. some of them surge like uber,

door dash happened brand new developing industries. ai. and ai infrastructure. in other words, the things that make the power and the infrastructure and the grid to allow ai to work. that's where the money is, they think. >> so the president is going to be. executive orders. he knows what he wants to do in 30 plus days when he gets in there trying to get nominees across the finish line. people notice the different tone they're taking. tone in politico note worthy. from big tech to the media, the rush to kiss trump's ring is on. i think and i had a chance to talk to him on saturday. i asked him, you know, what is your take on this? why do you think they need to talk to you? they want to know what is going on? how do you feel? i will see anybody but i'm not going to forget. the thing is i would love for him to do this. mark zuckerberg i understand you feel bad about what happened you want to be part of the new

country enemy ways bringing people together. bringing ceos together who are very successful billionaires and all working together. i have never seen anything like this. >> brian: right. >> ainsley: hopefully they will give him a chance and it will be smooth sailing throughout this administration. >> steve: from smooth selling rocky evening. >> ainsley: chaos erupting it he chicago city council meeting as the whoas continue to get worse under the democratic mayor brandon johnson. >> brian: todd piro has the story. todd? >> todd: the council meeting got ugly. they narrowly approved mayor johnson's 2025 budget which includes controversial $40 million short-term loan for a city already swimming in debt. all part of a chaotic hearing last night. got so heated, mayor johnson actually kicked out the public. watch. [shouting] >> this will meeting will stay in recess. i will ask the arms clear every member of the public. >> one of the main reasons

residents are so upset is the democratic mayor's lack of transparency when it comes to using taxpayer funds to take care of illegal immigrants. under mayor johnson, chicago has already spent a whopping 527 million taxpayer dollars on the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants living there still, the city alderman just barely approving mayor johnson's proposal yesterday with a 27-23 vote. chicago reporter william kelly was in that budget meeting. spoke to me earlier. about the disconnect between city leaders and the residents of chicago. >> these are real chicagoans. they made their voices heard. they made it clear. they don't trust brandon johnson, mayor johnson with 50 cents. they know is he going to spend that money on migrants and violent teenagers. brandon johnson says it himself. >> remains to be seen if this most recent plan for mayor johnson will be able to put any

sort of dent in the city's nearly $1 billion budget gap. back over to you. >> steve: todd, thank you very much. one of the other things mayor johnson has lost so much political capital. he originally wanted to increase property taxes to the tune of $300 million to pay for the stuff like the migrants that they don't have the money for. he wanted 300 million. the city wouldn't give it to him. the council. then he said okay, i will take 70. i will take $70 million. the council said no and then yesterday, okay, let's not raise property taxes at all. it's zero. that's how effective he is. >> ainsley: i don't know why he isn't listening to his constituents. i know he got the votes because he has friends on the city council with him. when you have the whole room, the majority of the room yelling at you telling him to give us the money and not illegal immigrants. we know what happened in virginia when they stopped listening to parents. >> brian: he won't kick out

criminals. keep in mind the small number compared to what new york city has had to deal with over 150 million have come through here. we still got about 55 million still living here. it's costing us billions of dollars. they have 527 million that they spent there which is small for a city that size. i mean and they still can't handle it, because they have had terrible fiscal policies leading up to this. i just think, too. this is also an opportunity for republicans to get in there. let your voices be heard. they are singing your song. this is what you have been saying. let people know that they have an option for another party and another policy. remember, he -- in a run off election he was a distant second. the other guy was going to be pro-police. even though democrat. and he was going to be fiscal responsibility. somehow he ends up winning. and then look, this is what you get. >> steve: tom homan told us last week that the city where deportations are going to start in a large way first, chicago. all right. speaking of chicago.

carley has ties to the windy city, she joins us now. >> carley: update on the murder of the healthcare ceo happening today. united healthcare ceo suspect luigi mangione is due in court. sources say he could waive extradition from pennsylvania where he was arrested to new york. this comes as we learn mangione has reportedly received 150 deposits into his commissary account along with more than two dozen emails. the money can be used to buy items including food, drinks, and clothing while in lockup. two iranian men have been arrested for allegedly stealing u.s. technology for iranian drones. one of them is a dual citizen while the other arrested in italy. the drones traced it to one of the suspect's companies which supplies iran's revolutionary guard out of its tehran headquarters. those iranian drones killed three u.s. service members in a

strike in jordan. back in january. and happening today on capitol hill, the biden administration will brief the house intelligence committee on the mysterious drone sightings. as the federal government continues to down play them. despite widespread public concern. >> assessment is that this is lawful, legal, commercial, ohio hobbyist and law enforcement activity. some manned and some unmanned. we absolutely acknowledge a lot of these are probably drones but flying legally. >> carley: today's briefing is planned for 2:00 p.m. eastern time and will include testimony by the fbi and the cia. the judge in president-elect trump's new york trial rejecting his request to dismiss the charges brought against him by manhattan d.a. alvin bragg on the basis of presidential immunity. judge juan merchan saying the evidence presented in the trial was related, quote, entirely to

>> ainsley: we are back with a fox news alert. police have identified a 15-year-old girl as the shooter who opened fire on a wisconsin christian school yesterday. >> steve: what an awful story. brooke singman is here with the very latest. brooke? >> yeah, guys, the shooting left one teacher and one student dead and six others hurt. a shooter who was a student at the school also died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. deputies arrived on the scene

just three minutes 911. police revealing who made that call. listen. >> a second degree student called 911. to report a shooting had occurred at school. let that soak in for a minute. a second grade student. >> two of the six who were hurt are now fighting for their lives in critical condition. crowds of people gathered for a candle lit vigil last night and flags in the state were ordered to fly at half-staff for the rest of the week. through it all the school's director says they are keeping faith. >> we also have a very strong faith in our community that in spilt of tragedy god is working. and we believe god is good in everything. he turns beauty from ashes. i had a number of families mentioned that to me this wasn't a surprise to god and he is going to do something mighty with it. we are holding on to those words and believe and trust in him. >> police searched the suspect's

history. what she did in 1990, she opened the city account and then deposited public funds for her own use for 20 years. what was she doing? she had a quarter horse operation. a breeding operation. she had some real estate things. all financed by public money and she went to jail. she was sentenced to 20 years in jail. served 8 and a half years. but then, during covid. she was released to home confinement. and then as it turns out, joe biden granted her clemency and people are really steamed. >> ainsley: she has known for that period of time in her life when no one knew she was embezzling money one of the quarter horse breeding operation unless our country. she went on to have 52 world champion horses. that were sold from her breeding operation. so, she was very successful. using tax payroll dollars. >> steve: funny how that works. >> ainsley: how do you embezzling that much money before getting caught? >> steve: she was good at it

sentenced was a kid named eddie. and his mom sandy was on with us yesterday. edward committed suicide after being in that jail where the guy who sentenced him was getting kickbacks to keep the kids in prison. >> brian: very minor. >> ainsley: he was at a high school party and kids were drinking thereunder age party. detention center for juveniles, i believe. the child eddie was put in this facility for 8 months. and his mom said he came home, wouldn't look her in the eye. refused to go to counseling. she has no idea what happened to him when he was in that facility. but she said something changed about him. first of all, he should have gotten community supervisors. if even that. maybe a lecture from mom and dad because many people in my high school were at parties with

alcohol. you know, no one went to prison for eight months. then he ended up committing suicide after those 8 months. here was his mom on with a great interview steve conducted yesterday. >> i was filled with every kind of emotion he or she defeat now that i have had more time to process it. it's more of anger. and just, you know, a whole -- it's just very -- this is very deeply upsetting and personal. he ruined my son's life. my life. he ruined multiple lives there are so many kids that have lost their life, not just my son. joe biden came here and campaigned multiple, multiple times that he was, you know, joe scranton. he was one of us. he knew of our struggles and he cared about our community and our kids and our families. and that is just absolutely not true. he is not one of us.

christmas. >> how many times have you seen a display like that at your grocery store? apparently now thieves are taking note of card numbers and pin codes and they are stealing them before money is loaded on to them. and this scheme called card draining cost americans nearly $217 million last year. >> this is a survey shows 44% of consumers plan to give gift cards this year. here to help us on this "tech tuesday" is kurt the cyberguy. kurt. i have got one of those displays in my grocery store. all the bad guys have to do is put a bunch of them in their pocket. walk out. go home, scrape off the pin numbers and then what happens? >> well, you can't even tell. you can't even tell that they have manipulated these. good morning to you, steve. >> steve: good morning. >> your beautiful wife kathy could be getting you a gift card at the store. they are everywhere. no matter what town you are in. you walk into the store and it's frankly honestly, i love giving gift cards.

i love getting gift cards. it seems like you are giving a better gift because they get to pick what they really want. so, we go for it and we grasp it. the problem is, until a new law kicks in next year in june. these are likely and could be in many cases really tampered with so that when you go and it's embarrassing. you have given this card to somebody. they go and thinking my gosh steve was generous $200 gift card. you go to use it and that says zero. that's because a scammer has preregistered the card. taken the money as soon as they were notified money put on when you went to the register. cashed is worthless. only one winning here is a scammer. law coming out in june going to make it a lot harder former chants to sell cards that can be tampered with target and a story you shared with me was interesting. they are now going to take a sticker that essentially gives that you authentication code on the back and only put it on the

card in the future on the back of the card at the time someone purchases the card. it's going to thwart these thieves. >> steve: so the way i described it. somebody goes, in steals a bunch of these cards and goes home and scrapes off the numbers, and then puts them back on the stand at the grocery store or wherever you see those things. but, because they have scraped off the number to get the authentication pin number, you know, you would be able to see, kurt, that somebody scraped that off but they are using something like whiteout or nail polish or something to make it look like it's been covered, right? >> to you and i if we were to take this card that was tampered with and look at it, it would not look tampered with. so they have gotten masterful at it. yeah, it could be nail polish, might be whiteout. we might notice go to scrape it not like a lottery scratch off get a card for the first time and access the back of the card to scrape to get a number to authentic it.
