about how he will be arguing they have got to extend -- they from v. got to lift it. it was when kevin mccarthy in 2023 was speaker. he actually led the opposition. is he saying we kantz give them this. and now he is saying you got to give us this. and this is undoubtedly the house freedom caucus is going to bring that up with him. >> absolutely they are going to bring it up. in fact, kevin mccarthyens name has been brought up several times in the last be 24 hours. this is deja vu. people have been watching this and thinking this is exactly what happened to kevin mccarthy at the end of the day. he tried to throw things on the floor that didn't fly with his own conference. and eventually he didn't want to see the government shut down, so he put a clean cr on the floor. it passed with democratic votes, which is exactly what speaker johnson needs right now to avert a government shutdown. that's the what speaker johnson finds himself. in he doesn't want to lose his speakership. remember, that's the next thing that's coming up in less than a

month. he has to run for speaker again. he doesn't want to go through what kevin mccarthy went through. >> ainsley: what are the chances the government will shut down. a lot of conservatives now demanding three days. once they get the new bill they want three days to read it. >> aishah: that's not going to happen, ainsley. i think the 72 hour rule is out the window at this point and people are probably okay with that regular order is just out the window. i think the longer we wait the longer this goes. and it's looking to be probably a mini shut down. they can still get this done some time this afternoon. we don't have a floor schedule yet. we don't know when the first votes are going to be. so if they can crank something out speaker's this morning. then it's up to the senate to wiz this through as quickly as possible tonight. they will stay as as long as as it takes. >> brian: normally you get a sense who think ho thinks they benefit from a shutdown and who is going to get the blame. i get the sense that both sides

are just un -- >> aishah: no appetite for a shutdown. this is not good for any party. because, opposing party will blame you for it. and that's exactly what is happening right now. the only person that might be okay with a government shut down might be elon musk because this actually speaks to why you have heard the government shutdown speaks to why can i get rid of parts of the government that aren't very important with his work in doge his and vivek ramaswamy's. it's not good politically speaking for either party to see a government shutdown even for a few days. >> brian: do you enjoy getting up and doing this breaking news with us in the morning. >> aishah: i love you guys. >> ainsley: we bit of. steve. >> lawrence: we appreciate it, aishah. i find myself conflicted with this debate. i have been one advocated for regular order. i feel like we should have the 12 appropriation bills. but you are negotiating with half of the government. you only have the house and so, it gets to the point you have no

owe-you don't have that much leverage to say that you want regular order when you don't have full control. i think it's much different when you have the president and you have the senate and you promise that to the votes. so, i mean, you got to eventually say yes to something. >> brian: i'm going to give you a sports analogy that i think is going to benefit the country. >> lawrence: let's hear it. >> brian: byou might know football but you not in the huddle. elon musk is not in the huddle, vivek ramaswamy is not in the huddle. as they are calling the play and in opposition. it might be easy to sit on the outside and say this is so clear what play to call. do you not know what it is like actually doing the deal with so little power and leverage. you should say that shouldn't be in. do you know what is in this, this, and. this they came back and restructured at the last minute. the only criticism would be could you have not done this in october right after the

election? >> steve: because, just before we had speaker johnson on two days ago, elon musk at 4:15 in the morning said you can't pass this bill. that was the beginning of the end. >> brian: not in the huddle. >> steve: the question who was he huddling with? according to the speaker he was huddling with him. obviously, elon musk and donald trump can kill a bill. they said kill that bill today plan b from yesterday they could actually vote on that again today. it probably would fail again also speaker johnson could meet with jeffries okay. what is it going to take to get some buy in from the democrats on this? they could drop the debt ceiling requirement. that's the reason they lost 38 republicans yesterday or have a one or two week cr. just kick the can until the end

and he has a problem with that too much pork. >> lawrence: i mean, let's shut it down then. i just hope that when they do have full power, that there is some sort of plan. i'm all for a fight. i'm all for giving the voters what you promised them. but, if they have full control and we are still at this same point, i mean, we were talking about the elon musk thing, but, there were the moderates and conservatives opposed to that bill that was originally -- the first cr. so, they got -- after elon got involved, there were more people that came to the table. now we have just a conservative wing of the party that is upset about the spending. while democrats are in control of half of the government. >> brian: the last thing elon musk put out is this: first of all, i'm not the author of this proposal. credit trump, vance, and speaker johnson. that was before it went down. i would say this. don't think that donald trump and elon musk are not on the same page so, they are not working against each other.

so what is happening you got parents at home who probably themselves haven't gotten a real wage increase in four years. trying to get gifts for their kids. trying to get them on time so they can have a great christmas. and they are looking at possibly their packages being delayed and the question is who are they going to blame? are they going to blame amazon. the guy is trying to actually get them the package or blame the striking workers, the ones standing in front of the trucks? i think the union here has kind of made a miscalculation. i don't think the average person is going to say amazon is in the wrong here. they are going to say why are you getting in the way of my triewks i'm trying to get gifts for my kids? people are use the to getting packages in record speed. is will so some time the same day only thing that has changed is the strike. >> i think a little bit of a miscalculation -- america is a place that's friendly to workers. right? they care about pay and workers rights. but they don't want to be held hostage at christmastime when they have to work in tough conditions, too. and their pay hasn't gone up.

we have all got the same complaints, right? but don't put the consumer under duress at this time of this the year. that i think is what is going on here. good news it doesn't look like the trucks are stopping. your stuff is probably going to get to your house so all might be well. i don't think there is a lot of tolerance right now at this time of year to be the ones to have their christmas held up. >> lawrence: some people want us to foot the bill. student cancellation another 55,000 public service workers bringing the relief to $180 billion for 4.9 million borrowers. the court said no, he said yes. >> brian: once again, it's one of these deals why does somebody else have to pay for -- somebody got the benefit of going to school, going to college. that's great. love that great investment for them. but why does the person who didn't go to college have to pay for that? we are in this moment right now

happens. president-elect suspect making phone calls. that he has j.d. vance meeting with the freedom caucus. that there may be that they are not as hard lined as though they may have been played out for the press. there is some sort of agreement. it sounds like the agreement debt ceiling. that is what i'm hearing. it sounds like the one thing that the president-elect has demanded and asked for as recently as 1:00, you know, overnight, was that he wanted this debt ceiling to go away. either completely be blown up or be pushed off until after that sounds like it's not going to be included in this current package. again, we are talking about a temporary solution. this is not a one-year cr or three month cr. sounds like it's only going to get them through until they come back in the new year.
