accumulated -- carley: you fold him on the campaign trail too. peter: i did. now there's this idea because trump so out there, maybe biden is quiet quitting. okay. i don't know why people are saying that he's quiet quitting. he gave a speech about it this summer. he said maybe there is a place for a new generation and new voices. a lot of people interpreted that just he's passing the torch to kamala harris. it turns out it might have been more like i'm turning in my white house badge. carley: yeah. he was pushed out -- [laughter] so yesterday we were told that president biden signed the funding bill into law. there was a lot of drama and hull balloon -- hullabaloo leading up to the moment, but then he picked up the pen and signed the bill behind closed doors. he didn't make a single comment about it, he hasn't said anything about it throughout the whole entire process.

donald trump was the one who with really got in there and negotiated a better, much shorter spending bill. so that's really why we're having this conversation this morning about joe biden, quote-unquote, quiet quitting. and it ended up being a bill that it was smaller in size. we saw stacks of people that went from 1500 pages to about 118, and here are some of the items in the bill that were cut out: $61 million in global engagement center's budget, $3.5 million in a pay raise for lawmakers and $50 million in extended drinking water programs. that's all the taxpayer money that could is have gone to these things that were stripped out of the bill that the president signed into law, like i said, behind closed coors. peter: one thing the about him signing the bill, we don't know exactly how it worked, but he doesn't really have to the sign it with a pen. there is this thing that presidents can do in certain situations, it's like an autopen. he just has the tell somebody to

bullet of massive spending. and i think e bill landed is so much better than where it started that it's very cheerily a victory. we're already seeing -- clearly a victory. we're already seeing nato reacting to trump's eminent return, zelenskyy and putin both say they're more open to some kind of a deal. we've certainly seen massive things happening in the middle east, so i don't know where joe biden is. carley: i love that line. he dodged or we doged a bullet. peter: i told him, i'm going to steal that for a white house briefing. carley: you brought up how donald trump wanted the debt ceiling to be raised, and he said that sometimes deal makers -- and donald trump, of course, is one -- hay tart the negotiation with an untenable, unreachable goal, and and he thinks that's probably what donald trump doing here. going to throw something out there that's never going to happen. but in the process you get to something better than what once was. that's what happened.

peter: yeah. and also donald trump didn't get the debt ceiling extended or removed. we forget, not the president. not yet. and so he got more than he would have gotten if he didn't insert himself. griff: like the rolling stones, can't always get what you want, but if you try hard enough, sometimes you get what you need. however that goes. meanwhile with, let's talk about chicago's mayor, brandon johnson, because there's new calls, a newspaper in an op-ed ed pushing, mr. major, if -- mre about chicago, you should step aside. the damage done to the school system tonight is only a part of the story. mr. mayor, in your handling of this entire matter, you have demonstrated you are not a mayor for all of chicago, but only your friends at the chicago teachers union. you've demonstrate thed you're willing to use your power while using the children you say you care about as political cover for your disastrous decision making. so what's this all about?

so friday night the chicago school board under mayor johnson's leadership voted 6-0 to fire the school's ceo, pedro martinez, without cause. he's now looking at suing. but it comes on the heels of the fact that the ceo refused to take out a $300 million loan with high interest rates which would have put the city at great risk. why? because of mayor johnson's leadership. let's just look at his record as a mayor. $98 82 million budge deficit, a proposed $300 million property tax hike. he spent over half a billion dollars on the illegal migrant crisis hitting his city. he ended chicago's shot spotter gunshot detection tech despite a 33-14 alderman vote in favor of saving it, so it really looks and feels like this may be the last straw when you've got

editorial business board saying he's got to go. carley: that's exactly what this is. we have seen so many videos of inside the chicago aldermen meetings. the city council meetings where you have resident after resident. and these people, i'm sure, have never voted for republicans in the past, but they are so fed up. the most important number out of the list that you read was that half a billion dollars to migrant fishing. they also -- funding. they also have shut down community centers and turned them into migrant housing facilities, and this i affects people in inner cities where these children, their parents are fight a battle every single day -- fighting a battle every single day the keep their kids in school, off the streets and out of gangs. and then the mayor goes in and takes that one facility that could keep them in school or in sports and off the streets, and they have had it. peter: okay. so the public schools' ceo gets fired. there's a dispute about why. but this morning when i was reading illinois policy.org,

usually my first read in the morning before doing a show, fewer than one in three public school students in chicago can read right now, and only one in five can do math at an elementary school level. chicago is a total mess. and, you know what? it's not just the schools. chicago's is such a mess, as we were talking about earlier, this is where tom homan is going to go and start the deportation program. it turns out many chicago residents might like to deport the mayor back to, i don't know, to cleveland or something. griff: yeah. peter: he is now more unpopular than lori lightfoot. griff: and he has no idea because when tom homan sayings -- says he's going to start with chicago, that's coming. you put your finger on top of the main issue that residents understand, and that is he's more emboldened to this teachers' union than to the actual students that he should be fighting for and trying to

make sure they get a better education than the results they're getting now. it's a sad situation early. carley: and the if editorial board in chicago is saying you've to got to to go, your time is up. we now have some headlines. the suspect in the german christmas market attack appearing in court late last night, the judge ordering the suspect to stand accused of killing 5, to be held in pretrial detection -- detech. we've now learned that local authorities received a warning last year about the suspect. the investigation remains ongoing. two u.s. navy airmen were shot down over the red sea in an apparent friendly fire incident. the military says it happened when the uss gettysburg mistakenly fired at and hit an american fa-18 fighter jet. one pilot and an airman onboard were both safely rejected and recovered with one of them suffering minor injuries, thank god.

lt, it's unbelievable these videos you're sharing. there seems to be a surge of migrants trying to get across before the crackdown comes with the incoming trump administration. >> right. good morning, griff. so, of course, as you know, you've been out to the border for the past four years now, and even more recent when you were down in eagle pass, texas, we talked about these issues and these concerns where even though the numbers are lower, we're not seeing these large groups by the thousands, but we are still dealing with human smuggling and and those who want to evade capture and are trying the sneak into the interior either by being smuggled by with human smugglers or trying to sneak in through private if ranches and trying to locate individuals that are trying to sneak in. this is a real concern to us especially as we approach january. i think the desperation is starting to settle in as many people are trying to make their way to the united states especially in texas, we don't know what's going to happen. so we could see more of this

human smuggling. we could see more illegal immigrants trying to sneak in and evade capture by circumventing checkpoint s. but that video shows the hard work our troopers do every single day and how they remain ready and how we are prepared for any type of surge especially between ports of industry. but more so, you know, focusing and trying to go after these human smugglers and rescuing children can and trying to avoid and deter any possible criminal activity at our southern border. griff: and, ht, when i was with you in behalf rick county, you and i were -- maverick county, you and i were out and we saw the smugglers trying to find open areas where they might be able to get people across. and you were telling me then that smugglers are benefits more than ever financially because if they're charging more. >> oh, absolutely. i mean, right now the human smugglers and criminal organizations in mexico, i mean, they're using this messaging by the new administration, by these policies that are going the take effect, you know, come january,

using that to their advantage to increase their profits by charging double what they would morally charge to get people across that border. it's a very profitable business now, and i think we're starting to see more of the dangers as well as they smuggle numerous people in vehicles especially in some of these high-speed chases where they have no regard for human life or the motoring public as well. and that's a real concern to us as a police agency. but, again, you know, our troopers are going to be ready. we're going to combat these criminal snugglers and try -- smellers and and try the reduce some of these illegal immigrants that are being victimized by these smugglers. griff: lt, we had one group come through on one day that had migrants from if peru, colombia, venezuela and ecuador, and tom homan, the incoming border czar, yesterday we talked about what to do with migrants from countries like venezuela when they don't take them back. here's what he said. >> i.c.e. offices across the

country are pared to to go out -- prepared to go out and target public safety threats, and tda is on top of that. that they're going to be arrested, detainedded and removed. i've been talking to several different country, and if venezuela won't take them back, other countries are stepping up and saying they will. griff: that's news, lt. just on what you're seeing where you are, are you seeing an increase from countries like venezuela and south american if countries that the might not have repatriation agreements? >> well, we are, griff. we are still seeing potential interest countries as we talk about when you were there in eagle pass, texas. we are seeing as well across the southern border in texas, but i think going back to what the incoming border czar, tom homan, said. i think the messaging itself really tells these other countries that this new administration means business, and i think it's why many of these countries are starting to realize that they have no other

option but to cooperate. i think that's why they're starting to now say that they're going to accept other migrants from to other countries. i think that's a big win for us. that's only going to deter the flow of mass migration taking place because we know we can actually deport if these migrants not only back to their home country, but any country that's available are. he hasn't even taken office yet, so i think we can see what's expected in the coming year. griff: yeah. and it certainly seems morale seems to be rising as well with the incoming administration. lieutenant chris oliveraz, thank for all the work you and the troopers do and have a merry christmas. >> likewise, griff with, thank you. griff i didn't have all right. more "fox & friends" coming up. were -- all your students and teachers who were helping save your life so, amanda, several students ran to get you because you're the athletic trainer. what did you see when you arrived, and also what was going through your mind? >> at first they told metathat he had passed out so, you know, not thinking the worst, ran over to him and he was on his side. and he, he had lost all color in his body. immediately, i knew that he needed serious help. and so i pulled him over from -- he was on his side, so i put him on his back and took his pulse, and there was no pulse there. immediately, i knew he needed cpr if he had any chance to live. carley: and, steven, you were there, and thank god you were because, amazingly, you were just trained in cpr. so what did you do when your teacher wound up in this situation? enter we did, the skaters and i, we sort of took on different

roles. two people went to get ms. if boyd, one person administered cpr, and the rest of us just made sure he was okay. as soon as, ms. boyd ran, aidan and i ran to to go get the aed. as soon as i came back with it, make sure all the pads are on and that we gave him a shock. and once the pair med eckings came -- paramedics came, i let them take over and let the gravity of the situation sink in. carley: steven, you're so young, how did you feel when you had to to use the training that the you just learned? there you were saving your teacher's leaf -- life. >> yeah. [laughter] we were all scared, 100%, but i think i was the most confident because i knew if i was calm, that it probably would lead to a better outcome. because if you're panicked, it's going to be -- you're going to be, like, thinking what to do next and not thinking, like, in order what to do.

carley: cool urn pressure. so, adam, how are you feeling now? how are has your recovery been both physically and emotionally? i'm sure this is a lot process. >> yeah. [laughter] physically, it's been -- i've been really fortunate. because it's just this genetic condition that eventually causes an electrical problem, the pacemaker's a pretty final solution. and i've been able to return to my full regular life. i was just skating yesterday, as a matter of fact. tbrr. carley: god bless you. >> thank you. [laughter] new emotionally, it's been really good. we had thanksgiving not long after that, i was able to spend it with my family. we actually went to california over that time. we've got the holidays ahead of us right now. carley: a lot to look forward to, yeah. hey, adam, we're running out of time, but how do you feel about amanda and steven jumping into action and helping out at a time of crisis for you?
