119 million people plan to travel for christmas this year. weather could affect travel. this morning, 280 flights delayed. griff: let's turn to chief meteorologist rick reichmuth for the fox weather forecast. let it snow. >> i think you're in doing house, you admitted there was no gift and your daughter got it. griff: i am definitely in doing house, no doubt. >> there will be a few problems across the country, not awful. we don't have blockbuster storm or anything which you can be thankful for. take a look at the map and we'll show you where the delays will be. most of the action will be across parts of the west, storms continue to pummel from san francisco to portland seattle. that's going to cause delays in those airports. get towards tomorrow, minneapolis st. paul, even chicago, although they're showing green on the map there, i think we could see a few problems. detroit, you'll see problems with a bit of a clipper system. you wer talking about the clippr yesterday, griff. that will bring snow across

it's joe manchin. he is an independent. he used to be a democrat. technically considered himself like caucusing with the democrats. now he's got some very bleak forecasting. if rick can't give us the forecast because the battery is dead, joe manchin can step in with a forecast that nobody in the democratic party is going to want to hear. >> i am not a democrat in the form of what the democratic party, what its turned itself into, the national brand, absolutely not. the brand got so bad, it's so maligned from the standpoint of just it's toxic. they have basically expanded upon thinking, well, we want to tell how to live your life. peter: i went to a couple dozen rallies this cycle for g joe bin and the kamala harris rallying

cry would be we're not going back and they would get the arena we're not going back, weshemeant we're not going backo trump. tusheturns out she was half rig. they're not going back to anything that was part of the platform we saw. carley: for someone who considered themself a democrat for years before becoming an independent and saying i don't have a political home anymore, to call the democratic party toxic in one of the final interviews before leaving office is a headline. they said they expanded upon thinking, well e we want to protect you there but we're going to tell how you should live your life from that far on. he's absolutely talking about covid-19 policies. if you weren't vaccinated, not only could you not come to work, you're also a bad person. meanwhile, all the person that were putting the rules in place were breaking them anyway. i think the toxic label that many people feel among the democrats started in 2020 during

the pandemic and then think about everything that happened during the black lives matter movement and turning against police officers and cancel culture and it really has come back to bite democrats. griff: listen, joe manchin is doing the democratic party a favor right now by saying the quiet part out loud. and if you really go back, when i first got to washington in the '90s, carley, pete, blue dog democrats had real power, particularly southern democrats. they were very conservative. they were advocates for gun rights and things that are only identified with conservative republicans now but yet the blue dog democrat is a fixture in the smithsonian museum now. it doesn't exist. you look back over the past four years, not only have we seen across the nation the progressive movement rise, you've seen in congress from ao c and others really begin to have an impact on the democrat leadership. how so? president biden being shifted on the war in israel and the

protests we saw rise from that so i think really the democrat party may want to listen to what joe manchin has to say and take the tough medicine. peter: and people will have different opinions about whether or not toxic is the right word to describe the platform but there's no debating that people in charge of the democratic party had blinders on and they missed the main themes of the election. they now are coming out and saying we never had the polling in battleground states but they had time to help their candidate. they missed it. carley: there was a time in the country where everybody was a democrat unless you were rich and the political evolution has gone a complete 180 where now the democrat party is for the rich college educated elites and the working class folks align themselves more with donald trump and republicans. i remember during the presidential election the teamsters president sean o'brien did a podcast and said i am a

skin but you know, calling elon musk president musk a bit far even though in fairness musk was the first to tweet about the problems with the original continuing resolution bill. >> sure. but for all we know he was tweeting because donald trump was the one who was upset about the direction that the bill was going. i think it's very clear that they're running off of the same script. if it's not saying president elon musk, it's the shadow president, it's all these talking points that clearly have been distributed and if it wasn't so obvious, perhaps it would work. right? i mean, if this was organic, if the american people were all of a sudden truly questioning whether or not donald trump is in charge or elon musk, it might cause some little bit of a riff but because it is so obvious what it is they're doing, i have to imagine donald trump looks at this and he kind of laughs because at the end of the day so long as he's getting his agenda to move forward when he's not even president yet, i think he considers it a win.

griff: and you know, we heard from caroline leavitt, the incoming white house press secretary saying, look, president trump is in charge full stop. but you know, you also have heard a few even republicans have suggested, well, wait a minute, maybe we should make elon musk speaker of the house, replacing mike johnson. what do you make of those suggestions? >> i think that is a bad idea. it is a handful of people who are pursuing this. i think clearly whether it's mike johnson or someone else who is currently a house member, that's the smartest move. you don't just put someone into that position who doesn't understand the position and has never worked within that kind of frastructure politically. i think it's incredibly difficult for anyone. you've got to wrangle together a whole bunch of folks who w froma principle standpoint may stand on the same side but they don't aims want the same thing. i don't think elon musk could easily step into a role like

that. griff: do you think the democrats fail to see or admit that, hey, for a moment it might be good to have this individual, not just any billionaire, but a man who revolutionized the auto industry by moving to a more energy efficient with tesla and cars, a man that rescued astronauts stranded in space because of his spacex private company that will now bring sunny and the other astronaut back from being stranded, the man that owns the largest information pipeline on the internet right now in owning x. do you think maybe we should be looking at that and say maybe that's good advice and a good person to get some counsel from for the commander in chief? >> well, when have progressives ever done the smart thing? right? i mean, this is a guy who used to be the sweetheart, the darling of the democratic party because of tesla and now all of

carley: donald trump doubling down on his america first agenda, warning panama to stop ripping us off when it comes to the panama canal and fees they're charges, trump threatening if the (pells of this ges gesture of giving are t followed, we will demand the panama canal be returned to the u.s. in full and without question. maria bartiromo joins me now. i had no idea we would be talking about the panama canal this morning. donald trump is drawing attention to an issue that he thinks merits discussing. was do you think about that? maria: we didn't know. we don't know what else will come up. this shows president trump ambition and dedication to his goals and that is free trade, reciprocal trade and protecting the united states at all costs so these things are going to come up whether it's the panama canal or anything else domestic as well as international president trump is paying attention.

okay. he's paying attention to the way the united states is treated with regard to trade and reciprocity. this is just not the case with the last four years. president biden was not paying attention. we saw that in the article last week from the wall street journal about how his aids aides were trying to protect him. president trump knows that the u.s. is very, very appealing place to do business with and he's going to ensure that it's done fairly so i'm not surprised at this new-found protection and focus on the panama canal. he's going to get to the bottom of it and he's going to ensure that america is treated fairly with regard to trade and other economic issues. so let's see where this goes. i don't know. i don't hear a lot of people talking about it but i'm not surprised, carley. carley: if you think about it, this is what he did during the first term in office with nato. a lot of establishment folks didn't like it when he said other nato nations need to pay their fair share. they listened to him and now
