♪ ♪ ♪ hello america i am mark levin this is "life, liberty & levin" sunday. welcome, to great guest senator ted cruz and victor davis hanson. but before we get to them, i want to address this issue of spending and borrowing and debt a little differently. budget spending debt this debate is about morality. a word you never hear when this debate take place but it's about morality. it's about what our generation parents and grandparents are doing to our children and grandchildren. for generations yet born. we are creating an economic and societal catastrophe for which our children, and their children will not and cannot survive if

we do not hit the brakes. we are stealing their wealth. was stealing their savings. were stealing their livelihood. we are stealing the retirements even before any of it has been created. they will have to pay for everything we are doing, congress is doing at the present is doing today. the debt, the programs, they are going to pay for all of it. and guess what, i'll have a vote was still from them. the morale to what we are doing to our own families has never been done by any generation to the next generation. not in this country. we are literally plundering. our siparasite plundering our on children and grandchildren. and then we deceive ourselves into believing that what we are

doing is righteous. all the good causes are infinite. all of the needy people not only in our country but in other countries. please come in so that we can subsidize you. we talk about income disparities. we need to fix those to redistribution of wealth. they all need money. lots and lots of money that we don't even have. and to do otherwise, we are told is to be evil. to support the rich. maybe even beat racists. plunder is there for righteous heard the more we plunder, future generations and generations yet born, the more righteous we are but immorality is said to be virtuous, principled, even noble free talk about it. in contemporacontemporary polity lavish themselves sanctimonious holier than thou praised with claims they stand for the little guy, the workers.

people. making business heel rehearse some of my friends they claim to be populous to sound like marxist socialist. they exist, big bat with got to bring them that we got to eliminate this, with got to limit that. they're not found in business, the phone and government. government, and so we need to regulate and tax and tax and regulate, it is a mantra that appeals to too many of us. did i mention words like liber liberty, individual responsibility, the nuclear family, hard work, faith, they seem to have lost their place in society and all o the static tht goes on. the entire character of the nation is at stake. being altered right in front of our eyes in this election, the landslide election of donald trump the republicans taking control of the senate.

the republicans barely holding on to the house was a u-turn election. we went a u-turn from what is happening to our country, don't we? do we? well, that's what this debate is all about. let's dig into the numbers. over 70% of federal spending and that includes of borrowing is for so-called entitlement programs. they are immune from any budget decisions. can you imagine they include social security medicaid in others the social security old age survivors insurance trust fund which we are told is an insurance program we pay into whether we like it or not. we are told they are going to go broke in 2033. how can that be? at which time it could only cover 79% of scheduled benefits and every year thereafter less

and yet less and less untouchable. do not touch it do not reform it. excuse me question what the schumer solution in a senate bill they would change for government workers, local, state, federal. it would change the way they are paid social security. it used to be that get a differential between what they get in social security and their other government pension. schumer and a whole bunch of republicans have decided we are going to change that even though social security is going broke we are going to have a go broke faster, why? we are handing out lollipops. that is why. all of those workers, millions of them will get their quote unquote full social security pension plus their full other government pension. that is called fairness and equality that's destroying social security faster than 2033. knowing today not have performed proposals on the table will not

discuss them, they have destruction proposals on this table that are righteous don't you know? for the little guy. social security, medicare, medicaid, earned income tax credit. child tax credit you hear about new social programs entitlement they want to create family leave programs. they are just f and listed all these entitlements amount to about 70% the federal government 66%. 8% of the federal budget is net interest. entitlement we are told in and interest on the debt that's 26% of the budget that is discretionary. 45% of that 26% in his defense d national security spending. so what is it congress is fighting over? about 15% of the federal budget. about 15% it's worth fighting over. because the big spenders the

righteous politicians who care about the little guy they look for an opportunity to blow up the budget. to increase the debt and to pass the evil onto our children and our grandchildren that is right. now continuing resolution keep hearing about them what do they deal with the deal but 15% of the budget. we may have to shut down the government. we never shut down the government. remember i paul ryan on my radio show i think it's in 2010 but as a long time ago trinity party movement of which i was a very active member he said was shut down the government so-called this is when he was a budget booguru not just a trump hater e said be shut down about 17% of the got budgets out from the national parks and things like that so we can make it feel painful so they can make you feel painful.

since october 2024 on a monthly basis is $629 billion. that's a lot multiply that times 12. wow. that's trillions of dollars. they continue to come into the federal treasury from the individual tax for the corporate taxpayers estate taxes all the rest of the taxes the federal government imposes on us. it just keeps coming and even if the government shuts down 17% of it. so the majority of this money flows into the treasury, you have to keep paying your taxes. it is still not enough money. they still want more. so when the republicans say we want to clean continuing resolution just so we can get funding. no, no, no we've got to add this to group. group on happens every day.

spending for medicare. but by all means we must not shut down the government. were not really shutting down the government evenly shut down. no, no, no during the pandemic you can shut down the entire economy. you get people out of right it does not matter. the food shelves can be empty. you can do whatever you want to the private sector in the name of the people. and the name of the best interest of the people. but not 1 penny from the government. not one hour of a shutdown from the government. what a catastrophe we cannot go to national parks i. what a catastrophe someone's might be put off but we cannot save the country by shutting down the government. the only way we can save the country, is by slashing the government. and yes, shutting down the government if that means getting a result, that is really a mandated by reality there's 21

and teachers unfairly. i found legislation for seven years to fix the wep to take care of cops and firefighters and retired teachers. the differences the bill i have that fixes the problem cost $25 billion. what did congress do? they spent $200 billion and they hurt every senior in america that relies on social security. that got nary a blip on the 6:0s in a $200 billion as seniors to being sold on the river. mark: social security itself with or without any of this. according to the trustees is going to go broke. had nothing is done about it. his so, we are fighting over 26% of the budget is discretionary paid we are actually fighting over 55% of that since 45% is a defense and we are talking about continuing resolutions. this is what i mean. it is sorted up -- mike is not pointless the battles are very, very important.

the reason the battle is next year's if you are going to change the direction of this massive spending, massive debt that we have, if you're going to bring back economic growth you have got to do so through legislation that can pass through both houses. right now chuck schumer and the democrats still control the senate. that will change address a few weeks. but, right now we don't have the leverage to pass anything in the senate. in january will have the have a republican majority in particular we will use a procedure called budget reconciliation. what's relevant about that as a budget reconciliation is the most important exception to the filibuster. it means that you can pass legislation to the senate with just 50 votes. you do not need 60, which you normally need. we are going to take up to budget reconciliations next year. the first when i expect us to do very early focus on securing the border.
