early to the airport and weather forecasters are warning of tough conditions in many areas. correspondent brooke taylor is at da dallas-fort worth again tonight with the very latest. good evening, brooke. >> brooke: hey, bret. millions of people are trying to get back from the holidays, this weather is not cooperating with people making it a little bit difficult right now. here in dallas we have been talking to people who are still feeling the aftermath of the thunderstorms we got here yesterday. let's take a look though at our flight aware misery map to see the bigger picture here. we are seeing 5700 delays, 128 cancellations. thes having the worst issues here at dfw as i mentioned chicago and atlanta. i feel like we say this every year, bret, yes, you guessed it, aaa busiest travel year yet expect 119 million people to travel this holiday season. 7.8 million of those expected to fly.

and tech companies were a major part of that. with their censorship and their controlling of algorithms. it's nice that they're talking. it's nice that a few of them have given money to the inaugural celebration. but it's not that much money and i think what a lot of people are wanting is more of a substantive change with these tech companies. more of an investment in america and in american values. including the right to free speech, which has been so hampered by some of these tech companies. >> bret: harold, the meetings reportedly with canadian officials, two in particular the canadian foreign minister and the finance minister said to be at mar-a-lago for meetings and this comes, obviously after the dinner where you had justin trudeau the master bedroom come down. that started all of this stuff about the 51st state if they don't change their -- how they deal with money and the at any rate trade deficit. in fact, he the president-elect saying maybe wayne gretzky the great one should run for prime

minister and become the governor of the 51st state of canada. all this back and forth seems like a lot of it is in guest, it is getting message across clearly canadian officials are coming down here to talk business. >> no question. merry christmas, thanks for having me on. the president doing this comes in a long tradition of american presidents looking to meet and seeking and then having those meetings with the leading business leaders in our country. and then asking those leaders continue to vest in our country. i think the president is finding some challenge and some friction even in his own party as to how he deals with these great leaders and whether or not they are fully in favor of all the things a president campaigned on including immigration and border security. but, i give president trump a lot of credit. president biden is kind of off the scene here. president trump is dominating things. and is he bringing the most successful, the wealthiest

people to -- americans that is to mar-a-lago. and i hope as he brings these foreign leaders that he understands and i'm sure he does that these are not real estate projects. these are serious people, wealthy people, successful people. many of them elected leaders. and i think the american people including me are giving him the benefit of the doubt as he tries to make his border more safe and secure. as he tries to ensure that prices come down for everything from groceries to insurance and obviously gas is coming down a little bit now. but to everything that we buy. he will continue to get the benefit of the doubt, the president. and i think the country will be looking see who shows up new year's eve. >> bret: you know, bill, one of the things that is up in the air is the house speaker and that number of headlines about that, republicans use holiday break to try to resurrect war on mike johnson. razor thin house majority. creates headaches for republicans, former freedom caucus chair on johnson i'm going to keep my options open. here is representative andy

harris on that race. >> we just can't have him making the deals with hakeem jeffries but the deals have to be made with the republican conference. that's not what we saw in the last two weeks. we are working with the speaker's office to change the way things are done. to say make sure that we can advance president trump's agenda for the american people. and we will see if those commitments can be made. if they can't, then next friday could be a long day. >> bret: next friday obviously the speaker's race, bill. >> look, that's the first challenge for the republicans. can't get anything done unless he can pass laws. with such a slim majority gives the senators a disproportionate voice. i think that will be one of donald trump's challenges. can he unite the republican party around his agenda or sufficiently to get things through congress? also say, i agree with harold that the reaching out has by and large been pretty standard. what makes it different is that
