that. even the people as you know we lost one great person corey the firefighter it was fantastic. we had two people without were going to die and they ended up living and they will be good i hope, perfect. we raised a lot of money for them and for the family of corey in missouri a friend of mine said i would like to give corey the firefighter a check and i said good is how would you give it i said yes he had to be a check for million dollars. and so i gave it to corey's beautiful family wife, daughters. the daughters were there he wanted to protect them pretty got over and got hit and got hit hard. pretty much instantaneously over. mark: be able to see him or not really? >> you know. they were moving to me i guess in a different direction. but he was hit hard. mark: bad shape because he is really hit hard i think it would

be instantaneous. we had a man from the national guard who was sitting maybe 15 seats away. he ran to corey and gave him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. amazing, some of the things that you here, it is amazing. the other thing the crowd of people the people who study crowd control et cetera bullet goes off everyone's stampede's, always. nobody. they thought i was in trouble. it's make america great again. we had a crowd, it's so big tens of thousands of people as you see. and at first, when you have that crowd in your speaking something gets in your heart you don't know if you want to go down. i heard people screaming as bullets go down, go down, go down i think pretty sure i could

not have done it as easily as it looked on the tape. i must've been hearing people say that. two people were hit head this guy not been taken out very quickly, it was nothing but people. there is no ground there is nothing but people. but as for starting to get up the first thing is i said is how many people were killed? there is no ground you have seen rallies it was wall-to-wall people. but, we then did a gofundme for them. and raised millions of dollars. we are very proud of that. very proud of that. and the two people were very thankful and the family was very thankful. i know for a fact they would rather have corey back then all of those millions.

that was a rough time for the hospital was amazing, the doctors were amazing. the doctors saved two people that most people thought could not be saved. these were local doctors in pennsylvania, beutler area. they were phenomenal doctors. they save two people that in theory nobody thought could be saved. we have a lot of talent in this country. mark: you have a been a man of faith. you go to church. you believe in god. has has furthered your belief, your commitment? and obviously, god in addition to that chart save your life. he has a purpose for you. do you think about these things? because i think you believe more because when you speak to experts like my sons were shooting experts.

lawyers on the ground, the get out the vote movement and coordination with other organizations. as you look back on it, what do you think? let me put it to you this but what do you think is the most important thing or things you did really help the outcome of this election? quickset is so nice, mark, thank you. we are incredibly proud. think when michael whatley and i took over's chair and cochair of the rnc we understood the gravity of this election. we understood there were a couple of places we really had to focus and things we could not leave to chance. obviously first and foremost was election integrity. previously came in your show to talk to him at the election integrity operation that we put together the rnc. we had to assure people if you come out and vote for donald trump and republicans down ballot your vote will count your vote matters that matters to stand in line. it matters to take some time away from your family, or work, or whatever it might be. so we put together a team, as

you just said lawyers but also poll watchers and who were 200 and 30,000 strong. we anticipated trying to get around 1000 people to do this job. we were so excited by the response we got pretty went to everett battleground state and at multiple locations and we tried specifically to do local media in those markets to tell people we are watching every time a vote is cast and counted. so, that was the element of election integrity. and then we also wanted to encourage our voters to get out and vote early. that is something that had really never been done before in republican politics. i actually think back to his speech i gave it last february, i talked about early voting. people were not really excited about it. they were unsure if they wanted to trust that. we knew how important that would be so we said okay, we have to get people out to vote early. we have to make sure that a lot of those people are low

propensity voters for those are people who might not vote every election cycle. maybe have not voted in 12 years or so but we know when they vote they're going to vote republican. we targeted them. we make sure we did targeted a phone calls, targeted door knocks and encourage all those voters to get out and vote early. you saw that i missed the early vote totals for republicans and blue anything we had ever seen before in our history, out of the water. mark: the reason i'm asking these questions is important to look back because you want to learn from success. other campaigns need to learn from success whether it's a presidential, senatorial, congressional the local school board that the ground game is crucial because of president trump is a historic iconic figure. and he draws enormous energy ad motivation and support. but it really is the obligation of the republican par party as e democrat party does, to serve him, a candidate is running for

office to ensure the basics are being done so an election cannot be stolen. or you don't have a close vote here or close about their lawyers ported from the the other side. you need what is sort of a political infantry to handle the ground game. you have this tremendous candidate who just instinctively knows what to do has a special connection to the american people. and then you in the rnc said okay, we've got to make sure we do what we are supposed to do so we get the boats out and count the votes properly. was there much coordination in that sense or did you both know what to do? looks well, of course there is definite coordination. one of the really fundamental things we did this election, and i really don't think mark, it is ever happen prior with donald trump. there was really no daylight between the rnc and the trump campaign. michael whatley and i and chris

alongside susie, we all work as one single team. that meant everything the campaign was doing the rnc was also doing. we were making sure we were step a first step, line by line at doing everything the same way but that also meant we did not have to have multiple people at the campaign or rnc doing the same job but we have one person on both sides doing a one job that meant the money we were raising went further. all around i think that was a really important aspects of these is we saw november 5. mark: what can the republicans do when you have boats that keep going on and on and on? and then you lose orange county. you lose lose other parts of central california counties their voting cores i don't know what they are doing. everybody is used to things happening right away. why is it take a month account? is any congressional republican think who is responsible? >> i do think it falls maybe on the and rcc to a certain extent.

but, there's a bigger conversation to be had. we actually never let our lawyers leave any of these places were vote count for going well past election day. got a lot of messages on exit. people were wondering are you still watching? >> yes we are still watching in arizona, and california, anywhere they were both still being counted we were there and had her team there would never let them leave. you saw how important by the way that was in a place like bucks county where they tried in pennsylvania and of of course ir places in pennsylvania with dave mccormick. with that said the bigger conversation may be how do we want to conduct elections in the united's of america? is it fair to say half of the states will use voter id laws half of them are going to start counting mail and balance before election day but half of them will start on election day. obviously at is that it exists now a state by state law each
