and his vision for a next administration. which we see thank god happening before our eyes, go. >> this photo right here, what were you thinking? cooks well, that was a photo that was taken it's an amazing photo. >> it's right to the window. >> seven secret service people on top of me because by that time i had gone down. this was a photographer that was taking pictures. and i think realized when he was developing them, look what we have here. so there's a little gap in the floor you're able to see it was not like oh gee what a nice picture this would be. >> what was going to your head right there? >> amazing. really amazing. i felt very clear headed. i knew i got hit in the ear. i felt i was one 100% okay. the secret service was very brave. they were jumped over on me very

quickly, second spirit i was down but they were on top of me and bullets were flying right over me. i heard them i did not know you can hear a bullet it's just like a whizz sound. and by the way secret service sniper was amazing. did not know anything. did not know there is a problem, heard the sound of the gun. he saw the smoke and within the less than five seconds he shot him from a very big distance. much further he was on the opposite side of the building. one bullet. pretty amazing, one bullet. that is without knowledge. obviously somebody should have been on top of that roof. there were some problems but i have to tell you what secret itt service were on top of me and bullets were flying over us. there is not one of them that said oh gee, i am not doing

that. even the people as you know we lost one great person corey the firefighter it was fantastic. we had two people without were going to die and they ended up living and they will be good i hope, perfect. we raised a lot of money for them and for the family of corey in missouri a friend of mine said i would like to give corey the firefighter a check and i said good is how would you give it i said yes he had to be a check for million dollars. and so i gave it to corey's beautiful family wife, daughters. the daughters were there he wanted to protect them pretty got over and got hit and got hit hard. pretty much instantaneously over. mark: be able to see him or not really? >> you know. they were moving to me i guess in a different direction. but he was hit hard. mark: bad shape because he is really hit hard i think it would

be instantaneous. we had a man from the national guard who was sitting maybe 15 seats away. he ran to corey and gave him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. amazing, some of the things that you here, it is amazing. the other thing the crowd of people the people who study crowd control et cetera bullet goes off everyone's stampede's, always. nobody. they thought i was in trouble. it's make america great again. we had a crowd, it's so big tens of thousands of people as you see. and at first, when you have that crowd in your speaking something gets in your heart you don't know if you want to go down. i heard people screaming as bullets go down, go down, go down i think pretty sure i could

not have done it as easily as it looked on the tape. i must've been hearing people say that. two people were hit head this guy not been taken out very quickly, it was nothing but people. there is no ground there is nothing but people. but as for starting to get up the first thing is i said is how many people were killed? there is no ground you have seen rallies it was wall-to-wall people. but, we then did a gofundme for them. and raised millions of dollars. we are very proud of that. very proud of that. and the two people were very thankful and the family was very thankful. i know for a fact they would rather have corey back then all of those millions.

that was a rough time for the hospital was amazing, the doctors were amazing. the doctors saved two people that most people thought could not be saved. these were local doctors in pennsylvania, beutler area. they were phenomenal doctors. they save two people that in theory nobody thought could be saved. we have a lot of talent in this country. mark: you have a been a man of faith. you go to church. you believe in god. has has furthered your belief, your commitment? and obviously, god in addition to that chart save your life. he has a purpose for you. do you think about these things? because i think you believe more because when you speak to experts like my sons were shooting experts.

you speak to experts they said there's no chance he could've missed from that distance. i think he was hurried, i think he was rushed because people were starting to say you know, there's a guy up there with a gun. and i think he is probably rushed. mark: this is what drives people crazy right now, me too there's a guy up there with a gun. what dhec there's a guy up there with a gun. >> by the time he started saying in his a slow but on the late . luckily he was taken out quickly. and las vegas at horrible attack in las vegas with the crazy man up in the building shooting down into the crowds. that's what you would have had here these crowds were bigger and you would have had a lot of people put is bad having three and especially losing one. if you believe in god, you

believe in god more. somebody said like why? i would like to think that god thanks i'm going to straighten out our country. our country is so sick and it is so broken. our country is just broken. and maymaybe that was the reasoo not know. mark: your beautiful wife, self-made woman, professional woman, first lady with incredible class and dignity. they don't get the precedent doctor jill oh tom biting gets her michelle obama gets, and look at your family in this book. beautiful children, beautiful grandchildren. you have people, kids they come from wealthy families they got all kinds of prompts and so forth. yours do not. they support their father. they will do anything for their father.

they love their country right down the line, every single one of them. the media focus on a cousin over here, and niece over there who is attacking you and so forth. you're a wife, your family, they talk about the kennedys and so forth. that trumps part it's a remarkable family so i'm going to ask you as a father and a grandfather, what did you do to raise children this way? and your wife, when she sees what's happening to you, that her husband was almost murdered. how do you to interact when she sees something like that? >> well, she was watching it on television. and barron was outside having a tennis lesson. he is a good tennis player. he was outside playing tennis and somebody ran out barron, barron, your father has been shot. he loves his father. he's a good kid, he's a good

student, he's a good athlete actually. he ran a mom, what's going on? what's going on? she could not believe it she was watching it live, can you imagine? and then i got up and i let people know i was okay. fight, fight, fight. i let people know i was okay. but it was a hit, a big hit. and a miracle actually. you're not a shooter i don't think a quick oh yes i am. >> you are? you would know from that distance it's supposed to be like a sure thing they said like sinking a 1 foot putt. don and eric are great with the guns. they know so much about it they are shooters very top-of-the-line. don called me and said i can't believe it from that distance. i can't believe it. i made the right turn if i did not turn at that exact 100th of a second, it is like a

some politicians are not smart, they cannot have interactions. i think you have an obligation as a president to let the public know. even from the standpoint of spirit, left the country no how great our country is. i went to a terrible, terrible situation with the afghanistan come as you know 13 people killed. many horrifically injured. those are wiped out this parents are devastated. something that never should have happened. they should not have left from the local airport. they should have done so much different. they should've had the soldiers taken out last and most importantly. abdul was not bothering us. he was not bothering us. he was not going after us. he w is the head of the taliban. we should've left the soldiers. i could just see someone going up to abdul, a tough guy, the

american soldiers have left and he probably said there is no way, are you stupid? there is no way they left. abdul they left they left no way then he checked and said they left. what did they leave? american hostages that left americans behind. they left tens of billions of dollars of the best equipment in the world behind. we lost 13 soldiers, we have 45 of them horrifically hurt. i don't mean like hers i mean like the arms gone, the legs gone the face just obliterated. and there is none of that. this never would've happened. because i was getting out but we're going to get out their dignity and strength. we w are going to keep the airport. because of its relationship not to afghanistan but to china one hour away. thirty-six china, let me ask about china. some people think it's the greatest threat we have.

his family. while they absolutely tried to kill him literally and figuratively. i cannot tell you how proud i was of him on election night. i cannot tail how proud i was given how involved i was in the fights. it was total vindication. not only did he win the electoral college buy it so much, 312 but winning the popular vote by almost 5 million votes. he was the greatest vindication i could have ever had as a son. itthe greatest vindication to my father who worked his butt off and never stop fighting for the american people and i sit here as a person that adores the man he is truly a national treasure to this country. mark: absolute no question about it we've never seen anyone like and he is a historic and iconic figure. so much of the country realizes that that's why they want to back in the oval office. even as history goes on and marches on its going to be seen in a bigger light but he had to

overcome what he accomplished and the forces against him. which brings me too a another issue. he, you, the family have been very magnanimous. been very magnanimous to the people he tried to destroy you, try to bankrupt you, smeared you, cap assassin talked your father as hitler, fascist and on and on. and by the way he won the election i don't see emma rounding up people and killing them. i do not seem taking journalists off the tv. they are such liars in fear mongers that he is in magnanimous. he wants to treat humans unite the family spent two hours with joe biden there alone he deserves a medal of freedom or something. and i am thinking to myself if it were me, i would want some retribution. you do not get to treat my family you do not get to do that to me. you do not get to go after my income like that for that's why could not be present not that i do anyway. it's a normal human reaction to say that sort of thing and yet

he is very magnanimous isn't he? >> i feel that times 1000 i can tell you minutes after he won right on the fifth in the morning of the six, my phones are blowing up from thousands of people we've really been sitting in the background it we've been thinking about you a lot but did not want to disturb you. hey buddy, how are you? mark, believe me we as a family understand what people are at this time my father said right before but now the famous escalator you're going to find out who your true friends are. and by the way they're going to come after us in ways you could never possibly imagine. it was the greatest intuition i could have ever possibly imagine because he was right on both fronts. at the same time you have a guy is truly on the precipice what he did in 2016 was amazing he beat the clinton dynasty a guy who knew nothing about politics. we are family we went out there no endorsements. nothing we fought together as a family. and he won because of a great message then th than they throue entire kitchen sink at him. he overcame it again. he is sitting there on the

precipice of history or i think he's going to become one of the truly most transformative leaders in u.s. history. among the tops i truly believe that. the way he is re- centered the best economy strong border world peace ending the war, making america prosperous. making america proud. it's an amazing day for this country and i think history is going to reward him for everything is done the fight he's had to take on. mark: when we return former rnc cochair president trump's daughter-in-law lara trout. we will be right back.

♪ ♪. mark: welcome back america big key player in president trump's victory, his daughter-in-law lara trump who rolled up her sleeves became in my humble opinion one of the various rnc chairs and the parties history. let's hear the point of view from the inside, go. mark: you must be very pleased with you and whatley and others did. you filled the gaps of president trump is concerned about.

lawyers on the ground, the get out the vote movement and coordination with other organizations. as you look back on it, what do you think? let me put it to you this but what do you think is the most important thing or things you did really help the outcome of this election? quickset is so nice, mark, thank you. we are incredibly proud. think when michael whatley and i took over's chair and cochair of the rnc we understood the gravity of this election. we understood there were a couple of places we really had to focus and things we could not leave to chance. obviously first and foremost was election integrity. previously came in your show to talk to him at the election integrity operation that we put together the rnc. we had to assure people if you come out and vote for donald trump and republicans down ballot your vote will count your vote matters that matters to stand in line. it matters to take some time away from your family, or work, or whatever it might be. so we put together a team, as

you just said lawyers but also poll watchers and who were 200 and 30,000 strong. we anticipated trying to get around 1000 people to do this job. we were so excited by the response we got pretty went to everett battleground state and at multiple locations and we tried specifically to do local media in those markets to tell people we are watching every time a vote is cast and counted. so, that was the element of election integrity. and then we also wanted to encourage our voters to get out and vote early. that is something that had really never been done before in republican politics. i actually think back to his speech i gave it last february, i talked about early voting. people were not really excited about it. they were unsure if they wanted to trust that. we knew how important that would be so we said okay, we have to get people out to vote early. we have to make sure that a lot of those people are low

propensity voters for those are people who might not vote every election cycle. maybe have not voted in 12 years or so but we know when they vote they're going to vote republican. we targeted them. we make sure we did targeted a phone calls, targeted door knocks and encourage all those voters to get out and vote early. you saw that i missed the early vote totals for republicans and blue anything we had ever seen before in our history, out of the water. mark: the reason i'm asking these questions is important to look back because you want to learn from success. other campaigns need to learn from success whether it's a presidential, senatorial, congressional the local school board that the ground game is crucial because of president trump is a historic iconic figure. and he draws enormous energy ad motivation and support. but it really is the obligation of the republican par party as e democrat party does, to serve him, a candidate is running for

office to ensure the basics are being done so an election cannot be stolen. or you don't have a close vote here or close about their lawyers ported from the the other side. you need what is sort of a political infantry to handle the ground game. you have this tremendous candidate who just instinctively knows what to do has a special connection to the american people. and then you in the rnc said okay, we've got to make sure we do what we are supposed to do so we get the boats out and count the votes properly. was there much coordination in that sense or did you both know what to do? looks well, of course there is definite coordination. one of the really fundamental things we did this election, and i really don't think mark, it is ever happen prior with donald trump. there was really no daylight between the rnc and the trump campaign. michael whatley and i and chris

alongside susie, we all work as one single team. that meant everything the campaign was doing the rnc was also doing. we were making sure we were step a first step, line by line at doing everything the same way but that also meant we did not have to have multiple people at the campaign or rnc doing the same job but we have one person on both sides doing a one job that meant the money we were raising went further. all around i think that was a really important aspects of these is we saw november 5. mark: what can the republicans do when you have boats that keep going on and on and on? and then you lose orange county. you lose lose other parts of central california counties their voting cores i don't know what they are doing. everybody is used to things happening right away. why is it take a month account? is any congressional republican think who is responsible? >> i do think it falls maybe on the and rcc to a certain extent.

but, there's a bigger conversation to be had. we actually never let our lawyers leave any of these places were vote count for going well past election day. got a lot of messages on exit. people were wondering are you still watching? >> yes we are still watching in arizona, and california, anywhere they were both still being counted we were there and had her team there would never let them leave. you saw how important by the way that was in a place like bucks county where they tried in pennsylvania and of of course ir places in pennsylvania with dave mccormick. with that said the bigger conversation may be how do we want to conduct elections in the united's of america? is it fair to say half of the states will use voter id laws half of them are going to start counting mail and balance before election day but half of them will start on election day. obviously at is that it exists now a state by state law each

state gets to determine how they conduct their electoral process. i do think in the wake of 2020 there were so many people who had so many questions about it. i will tie wit above and beyond the selection we did not want to leave anything to chance even if it was a rogue machine in kentucky that had some sort of malfunction or sound was pushing donald trump and jd vance in his casting about for kamala harris into walls we are concerned about kentucky but we had to send a team there wheat one in every single person across the country to understand we were watching. there would be a few simple safeguards every state could put in place that may prevent things like the improper in perpetuitys counting in states like california in the future. so, i do think the american people are ready for that conversation. and maybe that something we see congress vote on. maybe it's a bit ultimately bring to the floor they would make people feel better and it would secure our electoral

process. mark: you make a good point there's only one party that opposes voter id and it's not the republican party for this only one party that opposes voter harvesting, that is us that the republican party provisionally one part of this as people should vote on election day unless they have a physical reason or a business reason or an employment reason not to, and that is us we are the ones who said it. the democrats are constantly looking for ways to skirt the system. to break down the barriers and then when you say you guys are trying to steal elections, who, us what you talking about you pyourpoint of bucks county thouh they are in the light of day issued second opinion all caps and says stop counting those ballots and they did anyway. final words? >> this is the point the american people made. we have a huge opportunity for the two years ahead of us.
