returned from bangkok, thailand. charlie: cleanup continuing this morning after the aircraft exploded on impact. the concrete wall. we want to warn you, video of the crash is graphic, and some viewers might find it disturbing. [background sounds] will: incredibly, two crew members have been pulled from the wreckage alive by emergency crews without any life-threatening injuries. meanwhile, local officials say the control tower the issued a bird strike warning and the pilots declared mayday before trying to land the plane. the boeing jet's landing gear was not deployed. scary and sad, the tragedy there out of south korea. you can see the plane landing on its belly. reports are, we spoke to an aviation a consultant that also

did not have its flaps operable, so really no ability to brake as it hit the runway and, ultimately, into that concrete barrier. the aviation consultant we spoke to, mike boyd, here he was on "fox & friends." >> number one, the gear is not extended, the flaps are not extended which would indicate that there was a major hydraulic failure of some kind there. we're in the dark, but with we know this, the runway's 9200 feet. it's a very long runway. it did come in hot and high, hot and fast. we don't know why that was. the a real issue, that airplane was probably damaged more than we think, andit may not have been just the bird strike. there might have been other things that happened to that airplane. we don't know, but it's very strange to have that airplane land that hot on a runway that's 9200 feet to the point where it literally was still going pretty strong when it hit that wall. there are belly landings all the time. it's not unheard of. but in this case that airplane didn't have its flaps. that meant it was coming in at a much higher speed to stay in the

sky, and that pent meant, banker we're going way too fast on that runway. it has to do with the flaps. the landing gear itself, we have had those things happen. but when you're landing at a very, very high sweet and you -- speed and you can't slow down, it's a tough thing. raich ray so the black box has been found, so we should get some answers pretty, soon. as he said, bird strikes happen all the time, and there are systems in place to, you know, deal with that. for whatever reason, a lot of these systems failed, and that did not happen. sometimes we have guests, you guys, and the most obvious question we end up not asking, but then we figure it out, and all of us had the same question, why have there -- why is there a concrete wall there where it's skidding off. i'm just curious about that. will: yeah, i don't know the answer to that. airports are protected from external threats so somebody can't do something on the runway, and maybe it's protecting the other side of

that wall as well from an eventuality like this where the plane could run into -- rachel: maybe a highway. will: we'll keep you up-to-date on this throughout the day. it's a sad story out of south korea. charlie: so president trump has declared victory after a federal judge in texas put a stop to the biden administration's effort to sell off the remaining scrap wall that he was going the use -- to use for -- obviously, the biden administration completely stalled. he writes on truth social, in a major, crucial win for america and our national security, a federal judge in texas based on papers we filed just a few days ago has prohibited the biden administration if selling any materials designated for the border wall. that has been wrecked by biden and his cronies and which i'm going to rebuild in order to protect our country if violent migrant crime, fentanyl smuggling, sex trafficking,

terror attacks and other heinous, nation-ending disasters. will: that's good news out of texas -- rachel: thank you, texas. will: the biden administration not able to sell off what's remaining of the border wall. ken, paxton filing that lawsuit, the attorney general of texas. tom oman was talking about this yesterday on "fox news live." >> it's disgusting that they're going to take that border wall which, like you just said, we paid top dollar for and selling it for pen nist on the dollar. now we've got to rebuy it? it's ridiculous. a little bit of good news, one of the companies actually reached out to me willing to give us that border wall product back at what they paid for it, the pennies on the collar, giving it back at the same price. i think ken paxton, the a.g. in texas, took immediate action. i've been working with lindsey graham, but it's insulting. they wait four years, just before we take control, the sell a main piece of our plan to secure that border.

rachel: we had chuck devore on earlier, and one of the things that is so shocking when you go to the or border is seeing piles of border wall rusting on one side, people coming across the border and then massive protection around the detention centers where they're processing it. i also went to a center that was for unaccompanied minors, and i'm telling you,al a ca as the is not more -- alcatraz is not more protected than this. prisons are not more protected than this. the biden administration if did everything they could to make sure you did not know anything about the children that were coming across the border, the 300,000 that were missing, that remain missing and the horrors that they went through, rapes, you know, little girls loaded up with birth control pills because the parent who is sent them on this journey alone know that they're going to be raped. the number of tragedies that happen to them.

and one of the people that has been, i think, a real hero in this, first of all, the group, the texas department of public safety, the dps, but specifically lieutenant oliveras when has made it -- because he's a father and these images have broken his heart and he wanted america to know, he has made sure to let us know and show the photos. we're the only network that's showing them, basically, of children who have come across the border alone. the latest, we just got these photos. this is a 9-year-old and a 5-year-old. look at this. they came across alone with the cartels, and this often happens, the cartels get, you know, for whatever reason abandon these kids. ask and this is what happens. texas dps troopers recovered two unaccompanied female children. they were abandoned, as i said. and this is just -- will: all they had was that piece of paper that you see right there, it and had a phone number and an address on it. that's it. that paper. rachel: i think it's worth saying, you guys, poverty is no

excuse for child abuse. and what was done to those girls by those parents and certainlyly by these evil cartels is pure evil. charlie: and when you hand over the entire border to the drug cartels and human smugglers, this is what you get. and one of the strategies that they will sometimes use, of course, is to deploy the people that they're smuggling, the humans, the children in this case, a 5-year-old and a 9-year-old, they'll drop them off in a place in order to divert border patrol over there so that they can sneak their more valuable for them drugs over if some other spot. and i think it's so important to show these pictures -- rachel: yes, it is. charlie: and it's so have interesting because most of the political media, they're always looking for a heart-rending photograph, and they want to show that. they don't show these. and there's a reason they don't show these, because they care more about protecting the biden

administration and the political left than they do about exposing the true human tragedy that is occurring at the border. really. rachel: we'll see a change in this. tom homan and donald trump have promised to locate as best as they can -- charlie: and they have a record of accomplishing that -- rachel: yes. the 300,000 children that the biden administration has lost track of. will: on friday night if charlie and i began to have this conversation together, and that's the rebrand of the democratic party. when you suffered a credible loss the way that they have now, kind of of sends you back to the drawing board. blank slate. who are we? who are we for? if are we corporate america, big pharma racists, or do we have to rebrand? dean phillips, you remember, he kind of ran for president but wasn't really allowed to as a democrat? he's going back to the drawing board. 9 politico writes, dean phillips was wright right -- right about joe biden, but he finds it awfully unsatisfying. a party that consists of outside

groups cannot do its job, and that means leadership. right now there's a total devoid of leadership. we are rudderless. i don't know which democratic party member my colleagues would a appoint to as my leader. i don't see much, frankly, happening. you know, we had this conversation, charlie r on friday night, had one subsequently with a democratic strategist. she laid out three paths going forward. one, which i'd say is probably the most probable path, you stick with the visionary ifs of the past, the leadership of the past -- rachel: you mean the nancy pelosis -- will: obama. although obama just took a big loss. the obama, pelosi, schumer vision of the party. two, you move to the squad, which that's probably not probable the way they took losses. you're basically left with a a oc. you lost bowman and corey bush. and there's a few others, but that's basically an all-in bet on aoc. rachel: right. because no one's going to get behind ilhan omar. will: right. or third, you find your own populist, and that's what this democrat said. we need our own populist -- rachel: they have bernie sanders. will: but he's old. and i asked her that, i said, bernie's old. you can't rally around the guy when only has a few years left. here's the name she said, john fetterman. rachel: that's interesting. will: isn't that interesting? john fetterman. i don't know. it's a blank slate, charlie. i don't know how you rebrand the democrats. charlie: yeah. i mean, they are doing worse than -- john fetterman didn't, you know, he warned the party about what was going to happen. and i also think it's really interesting the in-fighting we're seeing within what remains of the biden white house now between the biden and the haste people trying to -- harris people trying to, both sides trying to blame the other for the loss and figuring out how -- well, we could have won if he'd done this. and i don't think if biden a had stepped down earlier and

inserted harris earlier in the summer, i don't think that -- i think she would have lost worse. she blew through a billion dollars in a hundred days. i think if she'd had 20 to 0 days, she'd have lost worse. the problem is they rigged their own primary -- rachel: that's exactly right. charlie: and if dean phillips had been allowed to the run, there's a good chance -- it's sort of impossible to think a sitting president could get beaten in a primary, but it could have happened. he's a very appealing guy. he could have. that's probably their best shot. but they couldn't do it because they were clinging to power, and they wanted to rig their own primary. rachel: it's such a good point. that happened to bernie sanders. bernie sanders could have been the candidate. they are rigged it there. and i wouldn't have thought of dean phillips -- by the way, he's retiring, i believe. that's why all these statements are coming out. but it could have been rfk jr., and instead now we have this unity party, and that's why you're seeing all these debates between elon and vivek and, you know, sort of the base of the

party and the magas who have been there since 2016. donald trump, this party and rfk jr. and -- there's just a lot of stuff happening on the side, a lot of debate, a lot of energy. and that's because our, this party, the republican party, had room for these people. i don't know, will, is there room for a fetterman? will: well, that's the gate debate, are they -- great debate, are they in the process of beating him out of the party because he's been so independent and iconoclastic to their required ideology? there's definitely a movement that's, hey, you lied to us, you're not the progressive you said you were, so will they push him out or put their arm around him and say we've got nobody else, you're more in touch with the people than aoc. rachel: and interestingly, he comes from a state that is a swing state. and those other members, those other people that you said were the power broke we ares before came from solid blue states. will: uh-huh. charlie: and, of course, the reason they had to eject rfk jr.

is because they're so beholden to those big corporate interests. rachel: that's exactly right. charlie: it doesn't work with him around. all right, now turning to your headlines, a woman is dead and two others hurt after a taxi jumped the curb in queens, new york, yesterday. the 51-year-old woman was reportedly walking home from a bar when she was struck by the car, pinning her up against a fence. the other two victims are in stable condition. so far no arrests have been made. it's the second incident this week of a taxi striking people on the sidewalk in new york city after a cab struck people outside macy's christmas day. no arrests there either as police believe the driver had a medical episode during the crash. retail giant big lots will now be keeping nearly half of their stores open three months after filing for bankruptcy. as many as 400 of their 963 locations may now stay open.

the chain being bought by variety wholesalers after its sale to nexus capital fell through. the new deal is said to help prevent thousands of big lot employees from being laid off. and finally, a new poll revealing that nearly 6 in 10 adults plan to make at least one new year's resolution this year. here's a look at the top five responses with health being the most popular new year's goal. the poll also finding resolutions are more popular with young adults than with older adults. i think that's because older people realize that resolutions never really work out very well for you -- [laughter] will: nonsense. charlie: -- by january 3rd. rachel: he -- loves them. he has 10, 20 resolutions. will: the thing is, and i used to argue with pete, you don't have to bat a thousand, okay? if my point is make your with

[laughter] i had a bad year. this was not an all-star performance this year. two years ago i made 20 resolutions, charlie, and that'. i'm going back to volume, because i probably got 7 of the 20. last year i backed it up to 5 and i think i got one and a half maybe. rachel: my resolutions are always about working out and getting fit. so i was in the gym with mydaughters in our house, and we were all working out, and i was, like, what do we need to do to lose weight before the inauguration, that's what i said. [laughter] my daughter's are big workout girls. they're very strong, very dedicated. you've got to do this, this, this and this. and i'm, like, i'm going to do that -- will: so let's see -- >> one of my daughters is on the back wall, she's resting between sets, and she goes, that's a

[laughter] and i was so enthusiastic. no, it was the evita. that's a lie. will: let's look at rachel's resolutions. we don't have them for screen, but i made some is. did you make some? if what are your resolutions? >> my resolution is to get fit. i want to get fit, and i want to read more. i'll. will: will: hey, i like that. i only did, like, four or five. i want to work out daily, which i'm pretty good about it meaning i don't need lull ares. i'll go into a lull -- charlie: what does that mean, like, walk? will: do it every day. rachel: even if it's just 20 minutes, get in there and do it. will: i consider walks supplementary. charlie: split some firewood, does that count? rachel: yeah, that's a -- will: lifting weight is the the best workout to. i it just is.

rachel: president biden now expressing regret for dropping out of the 2024 race. a new are are revealing report saying, quote, biden and some of his aides still believe he should have stayed in the race despite the rocky debate performance and low poll numbers that prompted democrats the pressure him to drop out. biden and these aides have told people in recent days that he could have defeated trump. here to discuss is former press secretary to jill biden, michael la rosa and republican strategist katie frost. welcome to both of you. why don't we start with mike because you actually worked with jill biden. if tell us your side of this story. do you think that joe biden could have been a better candidate at the end of the day than kamala harris? >> well, i think what he's

looking at, rachel, is sort of this undeniable fact that, look, he got the most votes of any president in history. he got 81 million votes. he won four years ago with 51, over 51% of the vote. that's 7 million votes more than donald trump. and donald trump still wasn't able to really get over the the hurdle of 50%. he still can't get half the country to support him. now, the other side to this is that all the exit polls show that in all of the swing states president biden's approval rating was at or below 42 in those 7 swing states that really decided the election, so it was going to be a huge hurdle to overcome. that said, putting harris on the ticket, rachel, allowed us to the flip three seats in california and four seats in new york. that may have otherwise not have flippedded and slunk the house gop -- shrunk the house gop

majority. rachel: that's interesting. 34% approve of biden, 66 disapproved. so i don't know, katie. what are your thoughts? >> well, it's great to be with you, rachel. and i'll say president biden thought that he could have defeated president trump after the worst debate performance in presidential history. i don't think we need to look any further for signs of cognitive decline. there's absolutely no way he was up to the task of defeating president trump, and he also was not able to serve another four years as president. he's barely been able to to serve these past four years. why would anyone if think he could have served another term? we now have confirmation from the reporting in the "wall street journal" of what we all witnessed with our own eyes, that he was struggling to do the very basic functions of the presidency. and the fact that we essentially had a shadow government of unelected staffers who were covering up his inability to govern while they were making decisions for our country is a serious scandal of unbelievable magnitude. there are a lot of questions

that need to be asked about this. hopefully, those will be asked under oath because this makes watergate hook like robbing a lemonade stand. rachel: no question. i think it's one of the biggest political scandals in our lifetime. the amount of people that were implicated in this cover-up of his mental decline is remarkable. and top of the list, michael, is jill biden, who you worked for: in fact, she was campaigning so extensively on behalf her husband in iowa that joe biden's team said it's making joe look bad, because she's everywhere. we even saw i that crazy photo of her sitting in some cabinet meeting with her glasses. i mean, was she the president? [laughter] >> no, of course not. look, she did, he was his most effective surrogate, his best campaigner. she traveled a ton, and she did it while she was teaching full time. rachel: right. but she did it more than him? >> well -- rachel: that's the problem, right? >> well, i think what they were trying to say to me at the time

was -- remember, i was new. i was working for the supporting actor, and here i am brag whering about my boss who i love and adore. look, it was undeniable that she traveled to more counties and, you know, that was all a public record. so i couldn't lie to the reporter, right? i had to say, yeah, of course that's true. and what their point was, was this age was dog the campaign from the -- dog the campaign, and that was their point to me. this is always going to be an issue. look, just try to not make her look great at the expense of him. rachel: katie, last question. i don't have a lot of time. is it the case that as bad as joe biden was campaigning, his age, his mental decline, that he still could have been a better candidate than kamala harris? >> well, that's an excellent question. i think that's going to be a popular parlor game, could he have been a better candidate. she, of course, struggled in so many ways that we all witnessed. but it doesn't matter was it harris, was it biden.

master bedroom window despite private security overlooking the home. $30,000 approximately worth of jewelry was stolen. done children's -- done chip's buzz manager if saying the family is safe -- business manager. an investigation is ongoing. but here's the, perhaps, bigger story, he isn't the only athlete to suffer this fate. mike connolly's home was broken into on september, in october, kansas city chiefs' star quarterback patrick pa if holmes and travis kelce's holmes burglarized as well. in november, milwaukee bucks, and in december, joe burrow's home. it is a trend going on. the nba released a memo to its players back in november saying nba security received a briefing from the fbi connecting many of those home burglaries to transnational, south american theft groups. the nfl also issued a similar

security alert the day prior. the fbi says the theft rings are primarily focused on cash and other items that have high value. there are, rachel and charlie, talks of tren de aragua on this. so on one level you're, like, is this a celebrity story, a sports story? this is part of the broader illegal immigration story that we've had a conversation about and these transnational gangs, and this one kind of hits close to home to me. and he had private security. these are sophisticated. this isn't like, oh, two two dudes that had nothing to do on a friday night and want to hit a score. this is a sophisticated thing going on. rachel: yeah, to question about it. this is a transnational criminal cartel. part of what makes tren de aragua different than other groups is that they are state funded. they have a lot of support, i should say, from the venezuelan government. a part of the reason they take over apartment buildings, for example, in colorado is because they, there's an ideological --

reduce exposure, dr. nicole saphier. of nicole, it's always so great to have you on. we do have an infertility crises in america. it's very underreported. talk about what microblast picks are and huh they affect infertility, or fertility, and how they affect cancer. >> well, good morning, guys. that's right. microplastics are exactly what they sound like, tiny, little particles of plastic less than 5 millimeters that are in our environment because of all the plastics we use. humans ingest them through our foods and beverages, but also according to this study which was a large, systematic review looking at over 3,000 studies, suggest these microplastics are also in our environment. when we ingest or inhale microplastics, they disrupt our hormones, interfere with our fertility as rachel just mentioned. we are seeing low sperm counts in men, females and now we're also seeing a rise in colon

cancer, specifically in young people. and that's being tied to microplastics. also this study is pointing to the fact that microplastics are probably in our air from the burning of tires and the degradationation of trash. we're inhaling these microplastics, and they're causing inflammation in our lungs and likely will lead to a rise in lung cancer as well. rachel: nicole, what's the number one way we can avoid getting them into our system? >> it's going to take a large international movement to reduce the amount of microplastics in our environment. that is crucial. but as an individual, unless you're going to live in a bubble and not a plastic bubble, it'd have to be glass, you can't awe void them entirely. i do have some tips on how an individual can lessen their exposure, that's using water filters with low micron values, also changing your hvac filters regularly, because you want to filter out those particles, i try not to use plastic-wrapped foods and beverages, no plastic bottles of water, sports bottles, make sure you're using

fresh fruits and vegetable, not those that are wrapped. and lastly, decrease your seafood consumption because the microplastics are in our oceans, our rivers, the fish and seafood are consuming micropredictions themselves, and when we consume them, they're taking -- we're taking on their load are. will: so the metal water bottles, go to those. >> yes. metal water bottles, the glass containers to keep your food fresh if. fry to -- try to get away from plastic. charlie: and eat more beef.
