runway early this morning and slammed into a concrete barrier where then burst into flames. the crash killing 179 people with two crew members miraculously surviving. welcome to fox news live, i am mike emmanuel well. our investigating what caused the aviation disaster. stephanie bennett is live with the breaking details. >> those items have been recovered. officials say it will take some time to get all of this evidence together, maybe even up to a month. two crew members were the only survivors on that plane. the youngest victim of this terrible incident was just that three year old little boy. some of these videos are graphic and may be hard to watch. the incident is the deadliest disaster in the aviation history helping the aviation authority. including officials boeing and

the faa. a bird strike and landing gear failures for possible causes. the 800 jet from bangkok was carrying 175 passengers and six crew members. most were holidaymakers returning from a five day christmas package tour to thailand. one man in his 60s said five of his family members spanning three generations were on that plane. the president of the airline has apologizing. they had worn the plane about a possible bird strike. businesses in the area also said they so many flocks of birds around the area. a few minutes later after that the pilot issued a mayday call. looking at the damage today aviation experts believe they struck the right engine. try to figure out why the pilot did not put down the flaps or landing gear. as you can see, it slid onto the

to the families and victims of the flight crew of this tragedy. what struck me when i saw this video is that the pilot did a pretty good job keeping the plane on the central line of the runway. the flaps in the slats for the plane landing at a slower speed in the landing gear not deploy is a bit of a an enigma here. i have gone through a bunch of scenarios in my mind as to what would lead to that. there really is nothing mechanical which would have prevented it from coming down even if the right engine did not just divert and flamed out with the left engine on or even without left engine also they can still get the gear down. they can get the flags out they can get the flaps down. so, something happened here. it is obviously too early to come up with any hard theory of

the case. voice recorder being recovered. they will tell us the speed altitude where the control surfaces were. we will figure this out. at this point, although i am a little reluctant to say, i think you have to look at a flight crew resource management in that car. they were really overwhelmed, but something does not add up here. >> this is south korea's worst plane crash in years. listed as a boeing 737800. could this be more trouble for boeing. >> i knew that question was coming. >> no, on this one, to me, it does not look like the 737, this particular model airplane that is involved. the -- 800 is 15% of the fleet. it is been around a very long time. it has none of the issues that

the 737 max has. this plane was middle-aged around 15 years old. to me, maintenance may be an issue. >> 20 seconds, arthur. could it be a bird strike? >> yeah. miracle on the hudson. he controlled it all the way down into the hudson river. could have had the birds in the cox window which actually penetrated the window. which could account may be for some cockpit confusion for the flight crew. this is a bit of an enigma. we have to wait to see what the data shows. >> thank you for your time and analysis today. >> my pleasure, thank you, mike.

sure that it would remain neutral in that there would not be preferences to other countries. the chinese communist party has moved into panama. china is the second power using the panama canal. it increases american credibility to say we have clear interest. we expect these treaties to be enforced. >> talking about potentially buying greenland. what about strategic interest there? >> that is all about russia. russia has been weapon i think the arctic region. a lot of critical web opinions testing. for the united states resident to come along and say we will compete here now, too, we will not sit idly by, we will not be flap with it, we will fight for influence power in the arctic region. i think that is really underscored by president trump's point that agreement must be secured. i think that is where the root

of his statement comes from. >> pushing money out the door in places like ukraine. is that an effort to potentially tie the hands of a new commander-in-chief? >> i think president biden wants to be seen as a pro- ukrainian president. of course, i've been critical of president biden's approach. he wants to continue sending weapons to ukraine without enabling ukraine to winter security kind of dealer peace agreement on terms that would benefit ukraine, leave ukraine strong secure and sovereign. so, i think, weapons coming in gives president trump, he can really use it and i think he will if president kellogg is his envoy to ukraine they will have a much stronger position to negotiate an end to this conflict at least temporarily on terms that benefit the american people and ukrainians and frankly the eastern front of nato, the baltic companies and poland. the most vulnerable to continue russian aggression. >> every three minutes and we can span the world. thank you so much.

if trump sees he is fighting or flailing i'm not sure he throws a lifeboat just yet. >> how much has the speaker drawn up on the initial start of the new administration and the first 100 days. >> these handful of members who are contemplating voting no one speaker johnson, if they had an alternative candidate that could get 218 votes that would be one thing. they do not. i think this exercise will prove useful because ultimately to enact president trump's agenda on energy, energy dominance on the border on taxes on winning the ai race against china. we will need republican unity. i do not think there will be many democrat votes for this agenda. they will have to use parliamentary procedure to pass things with republicans only. they cannot afford many defections. this is the first test of can republicans come together and demonstrate governance. i think they will pull it off. >> washington post, joe biden slowly battled to sell his

vision of american democracy. dan, as someone who works on this campaign, does it surprise you to hear the president and some of his aides say they are great at stepping aside. >> i'm not sure that is exactly what he meant. they could have perhaps done the thing. that is how they are wired to think especially as presidents. from my perspective, from 2021 on across the world they are headwinds. headwinds on inflation, headwinds on incumbency. both campaigns of biden and harris had to contend with. i think the harris campaign did really well the battleground states to cut those headwinds. but not enough to win them which obviously makes it decisive for president trump. i don't know if joe biden would've done better differently in that environment. i do know that even though his record is very strong historically unemployment bringing inflation down faster than other western economies,

that was not enough to sell the american people in a changed election. we did what we could to blunt that. i don't think him staying at the top of the ticket would necessarily change the outcome. >> i think that it is kind of sad. i got to spend some time within senator biden and then vice president as an aid in the senate. he is a nice guy, a well-meaning guy. the guy spent 50 years serving the country in public service. it is kind of sad to see them go out like this. his legacy now i think will be forever tainted from a policy perspective, the disasters from trump to afghanistan the failures to mitigate inflation he had and then his, you know, decision to stay in the race for as long as he did. postelection to pardon hunter is just unfortunate to see how this is ending. what is made worse is these photos that are showing up with hundreds of associates in the realization that people really did cover up his mental capacity

of 10 years and i've seen economic growth every single year of approximately about 10% and then here the last two years , we are just not getting the repeat customers. the frequency of what they used to. they are showing absolutely no growth in customer growth in the last few years. combined with the cost of goods in the inflation of what we are paying on our end is an incredible struggle we are dealing with. it is everything from produce to protein to paper goods, chemicals at every single angle. and into employee wages. everything is going up. it is been very, very challenging the past year or two years. >> i will start with giorgio, what does president-elect trump and his team need to do to help you guys in the restaurant business. >> i hope it will stabilize, people will feel more safety and

millions of americans are on the road and in the friendly skies this weekend heading home for the holiday travels. severe weather in some parts of the country has led to some cancellations and delays. madison is live in atlanta at the airport. hello, madison. >> hello, mike. over 300 delays just out of atlanta today. the airport with the most disruptions right now is charlotte because of severe storms we have been seeing are going right through that area. holiday travel and bad weather is not a good mix for people flying no matter where you are. in and out of the u.s. overall there are more than 350 cancellations in more than 5000 delays. we have been seeing similar flight disruption numbers over the last few days because of the storm speared it has turned deadly in states like mississippi and texas. local officials there confirm at least two people have died, six others injured. after several tornadoes touched down yesterday.
