investigation. a boeing aircraft. control tower had warned the plane about a possible bird strike, two minutes later, there was a may day call. they should have had other choices, but they did not take them. why didn't pilots land in water like miracle on the hudson? they landed in the water and efrp survived. that is not what happened here. this is airport is surrounded by water. two survivors, two flight a attendants in the back was the plane and tail. a lot of questions about what happened. it is a tragedy. other thing is they did not put

the flaps up. flaps slow the plane down when you are coming in to land. those were not up. i'm thinking engines were dis disabled. aviation experts are talking about, you could have flown out and burned off fuel and then came in for belly landing and alert the airport to do foam and prepare for emergency landing. this is the worst possible way to land a plane and it is tragic >> >> ashley: it is tragic and you gotz to putz yourself in the minds of the pilots. you have all these lives on board and you don't know what is the right move to make.

at attendant, she knows what to ask. what questions do you have? >> thanks for having me. cheryl brought up very good questions. one question that jumps out at us and this is all speculation to us right now and some people tell you it is bad to speculate. it is good in ia way, you get questions out there. one question is the pilot seemed to be in major urgency to get the plane on the ground. we don't know what happened on the lvt engine. it seems like maybe a loss of thrust or some good reason for pilot and im00 guessing the pilot did not know about the runway, which is horrifying.

one big question, what were the pilots thinking and doing and the recorder will tell us that. >> todd: is it common for airports to have a solid wall at the end of the runway? i assumed there were barrels filled with sand or something that would slow the plane, not spring it to an explosive halt. this seems weird to me, what say you? >> it was shocking to see that embankment. i think we're not airport engineers, certainly we think most airports have a long way for a pilot if they need to go further and there is a material that breaks apart if pilots hit it. this seemed like a solid

embankment, concrete blocks or a burm. if you think about the speed, just two seconds after they left the runway, they are hitting this embankment. in the united states, they try to give them more room and lated tude, this is a terrible tragedy. >> todd: i did a story when i was an intern about bird strikes. that was 1998, have we not improved technology to deal with bird strikes since then? >> you certainly think we would have done that by now. we've had bird strikes and they are common. it is a very difficult thing to deal with. my understanding, there is thousands of bird strikes every year and airplane engines are supposed to handle it up to a

mike johnson is going to be the next speaker of the house. i believe that donald trump is going to support him as the next speaker of the house. he has been a great partner for donald trump there are very very few people if any that are serving in congress that will be able to do what mike johnson has been able to do which is to keep a very, very small majority together to get big things done on behalf of america. so i believe this comes down to one person decision. i agree with congressman lawler, there is nobody else that is going to do this. my prediction is mike johnson is going to be the next speaker of the house. that's going to get done very quickly. some people want to make some noise, at the end of the day, he is the right man for this job. >> todd: that is the question, if not mike johnson then who? that is not preventing people from republican congressman thomas massie from saying he is not going to vote for johnson. there is no way getting him on board if you have been listening to what he has been saying. some republicans remain undecided on johnson's future. you see them right there on the right-hand side of your screen including scott perry there a
