politically, i also realized that he truly loved and respected our country and all it stands for. he worked hard to make america a better place and for that i give him my highest respect. meanwhile, biden addressed the nation from his vacation in the u.s. virgin islands. >> jimmy carter stands as a model of what it means to live a life of meaning and purpose. the life of principle faith. his life dedicated to others. >> molly: the media appeared to seat biden's remark said a bit of an opportunity to get a dig at trump and biden seemed a bit eager to oblige. >> reporter: president carter. >> decency. decency. decency. everybody deserves a shot. everybody. can you imagine jimmy carter locking by someone and they

needed something and they just keep walking? can you imagine jimmy carter referring to someone by the way they look or the way they talk? i can't. i can't. >> molly: tammy, he was given the opportunity and he took it. the grin on his face. >> tammy: it's a shame that it's embarrassing for joe biden. he had the gritted teeth thing he does. i have said before on this program and other places and we know for 50 years joe biden has been a jerk. so perhaps he should take some of his own advice with what's happened to this country. there's an opportunity has president trump i think illustrated to be generous, right? be generous. the american people have made their decision. we are all americans. we are moving forward. we will disagree politically and philosophically. it's just a remarkable and shameful thing to watch but it is classic biden. this is what we've been seeing and it's partly what the american people don't like.

you might not agree with trump's style but biden is presented as being, as he was, the unifier and the nice guy, scranton joe. he's mean and he's a bully and it's a shame and it's embarrassing and it's unfortunate. >> molly: decency through gritted teeth. john, delighted to have you with us. thank you for being here as we look back on the life of the former president. your thoughts on the way the current president reacted. >> john: happy new year, everybody. so great to be with you. actually i think hearing those statements from president biden, it's part of us wanting to think better of president carter. president cardin didn't treat president reagan that way at the end of his time in office. carter was a good man, smart man both before his presidency and after his presidency. you might disagree or agree with him. i think the american people knew he was doing his best and he had the future of the country at

heart. he, like biden, had i think a failed presidency because they were both defeated by inflation. they were both defeated by foreign policy challenges, with carter, it was the iranian revolution, the hostages, soviet union on the march although around the world. with biden, again inflation, undone by the middle east and ukraine of course in the war. both men were undone by the circumstances and hopefully will be followed by stronger, better leaders. reagan then anti-trump now. >> molly: beautiful tribute coming out. we see sometimes you take the bait i guess in the moment. >> in fairness they were undone by inflation and foreign policy but those were also decisions of their own making that created their political downfalls. it's fitting that joe biden is one of the first to endorse jimmy carter in 1976 because

they do share a lot of the same policy failures, economically as well as with foreign policy. as part of this misplaced document of embracing animation rejecting friends particularly in the middle east which led to the iran hostage crisis that went on for 444 days. if you're joe biden, your policies helped facilitate iran's involvement with the worst day for jews since the holocaust. the recent terror attacks in october, not too long ago. a lot of that was their own doing. the difference between the two men is jimmy carter will be known for having a level of decency for loving his wife for 77 years. for being, who flew commercial and took photos with people walking down the aisle, teaching sunday school at his local church after leaving political office. he will be known for having a failed president but a decent man. joe biden will be remembered for

being a failed present and in decent man. >> i was disappointed with a lot of people's responsible responses. a lot of people were saying we mourn his loss. even president trump and his post said i agree with him politically. can we take politics out and focus on human being? as lisa alluded to, he was about faith, family, and the american people. married to his wife are 77 years, taught local sunday school at his church. he brought the -- it's a huge public health issue. he brought the incident down by 99.9%. he lived with stage iv melanoma for years. this was a good human. people could focus on that. we don't have to say this is good, this is good, but. president biden did that. he said it with gritted teeth. it was upsetting to watch. it wasn't his handlers. it wasn't in a prompter. that's what he said.

♪ ♪ >> tammy: president-elect trump's incoming immigration agenda is becoming more real by the day, thank goodness. and over the weekend he sided with elon musk over the largest visa category for guest workers in the usa which sparked a debate among republicans. matt finn is in west palm beach, florida, another horrible place to be right now, with the latest. >> here in west palm, president-elect trump has been holding some sensitive meetings with high-profile names, basically trying to get everyone on the same page for the first 100 days. the h1b visas, they created a little bit of discourse within the trump world with elon musk essentially leading the charge in favor of the visas, using some colorful language online, even responding to a user on x,

he's really the acting president this point but to have this kind of fight in a way in the weeds is an unforced error. i don't like anybody disagrees that everything has to be revamped. all of us remember it like in 15, the stories coming out of companies, where are american workers or doing very well in their jobs, training their replacements who came here on h1b visas. these were not specialty jobs. people running the resort area there and disneyland and disney world and that was heartbreaking so there you are, you're losing your job and your training somebody who is brought in by in that instance an indian firm to take over. that's what we don't like. that's not the conversation we can have at this point. >> fascinating to watch this

relationship between elon musk and president trump. the big money, the big egos, when there would be a blow up. nursing the blowup between the maga philosophy in the elon musk philosophy. elon musk is not the owner of this view 25 philosophy. he's got this global interstellar galaxy. he wants to go to mars. i'm not surprised he's the guy saying i'm going to bring in any kind of talent that will get the rocket ship there and get a colony. it literally may be on a different planet. perhaps donald trump likes to have this voice that's out there. >> you want to have, to not sink into groupthink. you want to have challenges to points of view so you can have that conversation. usually you figure that out as you're going along. i don't know if elon musk remembers or thinks about how the american people responded to this issue and it's not that the h-1b visa idea is the mistake. it's how it's been exploited to

do things against the american people. >> president-elect trump gets the american people. i do think -- the importance of the h-1b visa program. it also does need overhaul. reading the x poster listening to ro khanna, it's very insulting to the american people, they are saying. they are saying don't give the low skilled jobs to the foreigners. the americans can do that. exceptional talent. it's not speaking -- the reality is this kind of reminds me of a little bit of affirmative action. right now company's can be incentivized to take these h1b visas because they can pay them less than they pay their american counterparts. they should not be incentivized to take a foreign applicant. what needs to happen is make it an even playing field, same pay, same everything. that will cause the americans okay, i'm going to up it?

who's the better applicant? education. what do they do? do it merit-based. it's a meritocracy. >> tammy: this is a worthy conversation to have but now it became like a food fight. some people express themselves differently than others. the american people know what the problems are and i don't think they want to feel left behind in this. it was important for president trump to speak up. i don't mind public conversations. obviously, i have them every day. isn't this a little bit of a problem? >> lisa: it's a personal issue for the different sides of the conversation. if your worker and for displaced by a foreign worker, an american worker and furor being displaced by a foreign worker, you have real concerns. if you are elon musk and h-1b visa has allowed you to stay in the united states, you think why would we not want more elon musks. the heritage foundation economists said over the past are native-born americans have

lost almost 800,000 jobs while foreign-born workers have gained over 1 million jobs. the labor market is turning into a temp agency for foreign workers in government bureaucrats. that's a concern. we've seen companies take advantage of h-1b visa applicants because they are tethered to them. it's indentured servitude. >> tammy: john, what's your take? >> john: i am a dissenting voice. i believe trump got it right. huge shortages of doctors, soldiers, first responders, nurses. we have to have a smart border policy. restore the rule of law, enforce immigration laws, build the wall up. then let in people who would you be to the country. i am biased. my parents came from south korea. i brought my 86-year-old mom with me. who can deny fox news to an 86-year-old? i brought her. but i wouldn't be here if it weren't for programs like this. i think we add to the country and that's the kind of people who should be getting these kinds of visas.

>> lisa: officials in washington, d.c., are investigating a series of advertisements which target trump supporters. the ads feature a crosstown image of someone wearing a maga hat reading... the d.c. department of transportation is scrambling to get the edge down. they say this. this image was not created, funded, or authorized by the d.c. government and our teams are currently working to remove them. iif you see additional images like this, we encourage you to report them. we have seen the d.c. mayor muriel bowser concerned with the incoming administration and congress and inserting oversight over the district of columbia. take us to school, professor, about congresses constitutional authority. >> john: you want to go to berkeley? are you sure? i am moving to texas may be. come down there. this raises a really important constitutional issue. the constitution, our founders

did not want the district of columbia to be a state, didn't wanted to be a functioning democracy precisely for this reason. they didn't want people living in d.c. to pressure the federal government to try to get it should change his policies. the way they've seen it happen in london. we have a district that voted 90% for harris. it's the county of the highest vote total for harris the whole country. i think these ads are probably really popular in d.c. here's the difference between the two parties. biden and harris said they wanted to make d.c. state and give to senators and add it to the senate paired with trackable trump should do if he wants to shake things up as reconsider whether we should have home rule in d.c. or whether congress should live up to its mandate and take the city over again. i'm sure will be better run than it is now where people are probably putting up these ads and then carjacking on the side for fun. >> lisa: may be the citizens of d.c., the people who live

there, they are okay with these ads but d.c. authorities are saying we had nothing to do with it. do you believe him? >> they do have a logo. this brings us to a bigger conversation of impersonating an rep representing, the advancements of technology in ai and what are the repercussions. it's one thing to put up artwork somewhere, like graffiti and you could argue freedom of exposure and you quickly take it down but it's another thing to misrepresent that you are a government body. i would think we need to in the next four years we're going to start having to look at consequences for misrepr misrepresenting. >> lisa: that means 77 million americans are trash, right? that's what this is saying. will this dehumanization of trump supporter ever end? >> tammy: it won't but i'm glad trump now has his trash talk. i'll tell you it's remarkable. it still reveals the kind of bitter kind of craven framework

that feeds the left that no one is going to learn anything from the election because they don't feel they were mistaken. i do think there is an interesting difference when an obvious guerrilla art. i come from an activist background. this is meant to appear as though it's official and it's a statement that is like a subtle encouragement that certain kinds of people should be removed. one we've seen people be tipped over by rhetoric that is couched in a certain way or is kind of subtle, it doesn't matter. if they are going to tip over, they are going to tip over and that's the way to do it. keep it trash free. you've got to move people out of the way. they should be aggressive, criminally with this kind situation. >> lisa: these trash people come according to hich
