barons, powerful people wanted this land for themselves. he knew the fight would be uphill. but he also knew that when you have an idea and you believe in it strongly enough, you can change the world. it was the year that nasa got stuck in space. colleges failed the test and hawkeye took her shot. did we miss anything?
5:01 pm
they're eating the dogs. they're eating the cats. oh, yeah, that. here are the most tabloid baiting, pardoning, devastating, outrageous, phenomenal, disobedient, resigning, joyous stories of the year. who can forget? 2024. yo, it's about to get nuts. everybody gets their day in court and trump gets a lot of them. in 2024, it reached a whole new level. a lot of charges. a lot of charges. january 11th, there is the closing argument. for the trump real estate fraud trial. he took a loan from the bank and the interest rate in the way he financed the thing. we■re not able to watch, but reporters are coming out with instant analysis. and so depending on what you're watching, you have a different sense of how the trial is going to play out. on friday night, the new york post
5:02 pm
editorial board warned democrats celebrating that they just turned trump into a, quote, political martyr. so trump is found guilty. big surprise, right? in new york. he's forced to pay $454 million. now, where does that money going to go? to the victims, right? oh, that's right. there isn't a victim. january was a busy month for trump. it also marked the beginning of the e jean carroll trial. trump accused of sexually assaulting e jean carroll in a department store dressing room back in the nineties, making this case basically as topical as pearl jam. on january 26, after only 3 hours of deliberation, the jury awarded jean carroll $83.3 million. and that brings. our total to. ding, ding. ding, more than half a billion dollars. and it's only. january. then in april, we saw the return of donald trump to a courtroom. but this time, the criminal court.
5:03 pm
he was faced with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to pay off adult film star stormy daniels. so trump was required to be in court for this one as well, which he did, taking time away from the campaign trail and catching up on some of his naps. a jury has found former. president donald trump guilty on all counts in his criminal hush money trial. they got the one thing they wanted, which is convicted felon donald trump. but wait, there's more. you not only have business. fraud, you not only are porn stars, but now you. have election interference. georgia's state senate is joining attempts to investigate the prosecutor in the election interference case against former president donald trump. there were so many shenanigans tied up with the georgia election in case. it■s discovered that fani willis and her lead prosecutor, a guy named nathan wade, had a relationship. for you law students out there, not a smart move. i think there was still this sense amongst the left
5:04 pm
that this law fare might work. but as we know now. turns into this looney tunes scenario. we know how many times the wily coyote goes after the road runner. you wind up in that meep meep and he's gone. jack smith's classified documents case in florida was stymied time and time again by trump appointed judge, eileen cannon. then there's the d.c. federal election interference case that hinges on donald trump's claim that presidents are immune. a decision that landed in the supreme court. it was the last chance for a takedown in one of the biggest. cases of the year over whether presidents can be prosecuted. the supreme court dealt donald trump a victory. this supreme court decision had a major impact on all of these cases against trump, basically stopping them in their tracks. the american people never. like malicious prosecution. remember what happened to bill clinton? everyone knew he was guilty, but after all of the impeachment,
5:05 pm
they ended up siding with him. none of it mattered. because when you're committing politics through lawfare, through the judicial system, people see through it. on july 26th, the world watched the olympics opening ceremonies. you had lady gaga. you had cancan dancers and a bacchanalia celebration, which looks surprisingly like the last supper. all that was missing was liza minnelli and harvey fierstein. there was a lot of concerns about terrorism. so to be careful, the french decided to put everybody in boats. that picture of lebron, where he looks like george washington, like crossing the delaware at the front of the boat. so they got the athletes in boats and then you got celine dion as the finale singer. you know, that movie ended in a tragedy, didn't it? when the games started, as usual, the united states had plenty to celebrate.
5:06 pm
simone biles. she was back atop the podium. i'm a huge nba fan. so the fact that this was like lebron k.d. steph together. although that was a little too close for comfort. the air shooting competition really took off online. yeji kim from south korea, who looked like an assassin in a james bond. movie with the specialized lens on her glasses. but then you had the guy from turkey. he had a t shirt, sweat pants, and his hands in his pocket. and he looked like a dad watering the lawn. imane khelif, the female boxing, big controversy, the picture of femininity. the italian boxer gave up after 45 seconds. she had never been hit that hard. it was essentially like rocky iii and mr. t had become mrs. t, t, but was fighting adrian. breakdancing for the first time was within the olympics. everybody was making fun of rachel gun, a.k.a.
5:07 pm
reagun. she had no business being there. i've never seen an epileptic seizure go viral like reagun. watching that was the moment we all knew we could be olympians. oh, dingos took me. dance moves. i■ll make some **** up at the last second. hop around like a kangaroo should be fine. the winner of this year's olympics, hands down, has to be snoop dogg. snoop was everywhere. he was commentating on the games. he was at dressage with martha stewart. they let him hold the olympic torch. and who cares if he lit a bong with it? he got paid something like $9 million just to be snoop. there's just this sense that if snoop's there, everything's more fun and everything's going to be okay. and i think that's the vibe they wanted from him. alaska airlines flight 1282 takes off from portland international, headed for california. a hole gets ripped open in this plane. my heart is like beating so quickly thinking about this.
5:08 pm
terrifying moments on the alaskan airlines flight over oregon last night. a window panel blew off in midair. the seat cushions on 26a, get sucked out of the plane. the guy a row back, had his shirt ripped off. i think he took it off and threw it out for dramatic effect. but apparently he had rock hard abs. so everyone applauded. all 171 passengers, six crew members on board. all of them. okay. this happened on january 5th. so it was the first big story of the year. alaska airlines grounds, all of the 737 and airlines all over the world did the same. the investigation showed that four bolts. were not installed. four bolts. i've got four bolts in my pocket right now. so boeing was forced to pay $443 million to the airlines. that's caused a real. problem for boeing. boeing ceo dan calhoun was hauled in front of congress in june and he was kind of on the hot seat. this is what boeing has provided to this committee in response to our requests for information.
5:09 pm
complete gobbledygook. yes. he ended up stepping down in august, and that was a. rock solid, gold plated name you could rely on. and 2024 was the year people started asking the question, is that really the case? but boeing had something up their sleeve that may just turn this whole thing around. on june 5th, boeing's starliner calypso would be launched on its first crewed mission. boy, i tell you what, i'm counting bolts on that one. when they were trying to dock with the space station. five thrusters malfunctioned and there was a helium leak. the two astronauts got it at the space station, but now no one trust the boeing spacecraft to get them back. the astronauts, we're going to have to spend christmas in space. seems like a hallmark movie, doesn't it? those astronauts may not return back to earth until february of next year on a spacex x rocket no less. than one final blow to boeing. it looks like it would be elon musk to the rescue.
5:10 pm
how was that not the first call they made? i was with them one time and i asked him, why can't boeing bring their astronauts home? and he suggested that the company had gotten too big, too bloated and too lazy. elon musk is going to have a dog and pony show with one of his new spacecraft. it's like getting dropped off at the movie theater in in a honda and then getting picked up in a rolls-royce. and now it's time for a who can forget pop quiz, the answer when we return. the fox. nation holiday. sale is here. there's only one thing in my life it really matters. so start streaming fox nation's original. premium content and you'll save 50% on our annual plan. you believe you were sent by god. yes.

so which sequel didn't pass the billion dollar mark this year? the answer is c, joker: folie a deux joaquin phenix and lady gaga starred in this regrettable follow up to the original box office smash. where does it say in the contract that gaga gets to sing? oh, all right. we got ourselves a musical. on february 5th, buckingham palace announces that king charles has been diagnosed with cancer. king charles cancer diagnosis rocking the uk. and, of course, all of us were shocked. i mean, how can you not feel bad for him? wait 75 years and then he has this this bit of tragedy you're going on like this thousand mile road trip and the check engine light comes on the second you back out of the driveway. meanwhile, more. royal drama was developing. kate middleton hadn't been seen since december. she had been
5:16 pm
reportedly receiving some type of abdominal surgery. but again, it was all kind of a mystery. what really fueled the rumor mill was around mother's day. prince william supposedly took a picture of kate middleton and her three children. the seemingly innocuous photo was seized upon by social media sleuths when they had discovered it had been altered. they pointed to inconsistencies centered on princess charlotte's sleeves and her hands. but the big issue is. kate is not wearing her wedding. ring. you know, in britain, some of them calling it photo gate right now. this was enough to send tik-tok and x into a doom spiral. everybody immediately becomes a royal insider on social media. i'm guilty of a little royal conspiracy theory. my friends think i'm insane. maybe kate is in a coma. she's dead. he had her killed. they diana■d her. he's had an affair with the family friend or whatever. kate middleton comes out and tries to put it to bed by saying she herself posted the photo, dabbled in a little photoshop.
5:17 pm
i mean, who hasn't photoshopped their own photo, right? hello, face tune. the surgery was successful, however, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. on march 22nd. kate put an end to all the rumors. to see kate actually say that she was suffering, you know, was a real reality check for a lot of people. she also doesn't want to overshadow the king because this is like a mannered, cultured, decent person, which social media has no tolerance for. both the king and the princess continued their chemotherapy throughout the summer. in addition to making public appearances. the king kept going. you know, they say pimpin ain't easy, kingin■ ain't easy. if you were paying attention to college basketball, you knew caitlyn clark's name. well before 24. i started watching her during her her junior year at iowa. she is one of the purest basketball players i've ever seen. she sees the entire floor all the time.
5:18 pm
she had an elegance to her that i think that people couldn't not pay attention to. she was chucking these balls. from what seemed like half court. i mean, she can shoot the lights out. i■m 5■11” and was always like a forward or kind of roving center type of person. i have like a decent jump shot. nothing like caitlin clark■s. i think i could take her one on one, but i don't think i could beat her in a three point contest. oh, see, that's. that's really bad. did you see that? all eyes, of course, were on caitlyn clark in 2014, and the sports media is calling it the clark effect. i mean, not only are all the home games in iowa sold out, but when the kid goes on the road, they're selling out other arenas. fox sports began devoting one camera fixated solely on caitlin clark, called the caitlin cam. this all before taking the iowa hawkeyes through their second final four to their second consecutive championship game. for the first time in the history of the ncaa. the women's tournament has higher ratings than the men. sorry, uconn.
5:19 pm
so with her college career behind her, it was no surprise that caitlin clark would become the consensus number one pick in the wnba draft. it was off to indiana so clark could play in the big leagues with the fever. we completely overlook the fact that the indiana fever sounds like a real problem. oh, god. the indiana fever. what buffet did you go? that's not good. when a rookie enters a professional sports league, they get the rookie treat, a few elbows, a few shoves here and there. she definitely became a target right off the bat, but. it seemed kind of different for caitlin clark. it seemed more personal. she's lucky she didn't lose an eye in this one game. some may say there's a racial overtone to all of this. it really just speaks to her character, the fact that she never complained about anything. it seems the clark effect has followed along with her to the wnba. ratings this season, tripled.
5:20 pm
franchises are having to move to bigger venues. there are actual scalpers outside the arena. her style of play, as long as she can stay on the court, is going to take that entire sport to a new level. hopefully the the wnba is smart enough to capitalize on it. wnba still got a gift, even if not everybody in the wnba seemed to want to receive that gift. last year. college. they have their rituals, dorm living, studying all night long, camping out on the quad to protest the military engagement. netanyahu you can't hide. we charge you with genocide. on april 17th, 50 tents were set up on campus at columbia. ivy league schools are known for teaching you a lot of things. okay. but up until this year, we never knew that they taught camping. they called it the gaza solidarity encampment. and they said it was pro-palestinian, but it was definitely anti-israel.
5:21 pm
there was no question about that. before long, encampments were established all over the country in arizona, penn state. it was tolerated and it was allowed, which means when you tolerate nonsense, you get more of it. by that time, you also knew it wasn't just students protesting. this was really quite organized. the protest made their demands. they want the campuses to take all of their money out of israel. when you're a student at a university, you're not allowed to pick who they're invested with. you don't run the university. you little snot nosed little **** from the river to the sea palastine will be free just watching the heartbreaking interviews of the jewish students who were just trying to get to class every day. you had students who were denied access to public places like the library. if they were zionist. i was at one of the protests and it was just astounding to me.
5:22 pm
that people were yelling, kill more jews. literally, the school presidents, university presidents, all of them did nothing about it. and called it free speech. i found those protests to be fundamentally horrifying. i thought they were a complete corruption of the first amendment. this was the year i realized i learned some life skills and decency in community college that they may not be teaching at these big box schools. by the time may hits, the temperatures rise. along with the temperature of the turmoil at ucla, a skirmish erupting between protests and counterprotesters. the mayor of los angeles wouldn't let the lapd go in and do its job. and then the protests there turned very violent. you can see the group breaking the glass and entering hamilton hall, telling the university they're not going to leave until possibly graduation. things get out of hand in columbia. kidnaping and assault on some of the custodial staff. don't custodians ever hard enough. they had like a little press conference wanting the university to know
5:23 pm
what kind of food they would accept as protesters. it's like this isn't a protest. you're just larping. it might as well have been a comic-con costume. scary, a little sexy and a little fashiony. the mayhem continued all the way through graduation. hey hey ho ho the occupation has got to go. students are walking out. students aren't attending. graduations were canceled. these are the same kids who lost their high school graduations to covid. so maybe they weren't protesting israel so much as they were protesting caps and gowns. at the end of this all the the angry protesters pulled up their stakes at the end of the school year and went on to occupy their parents summer vacation homes. here comes another who can forget? 2024 pop quiz
5:24 pm
we'll be right back with the answer. from the birth of the personal computer to the death of disco. the rise of tiger woods to the fall of howard dean. the past half century has had no shortage of memorable moments. where's the beef? just stepping in front of one tank is pretty brave. i■ve fallen and i can■t get up. fox nation's hit series, who can forget, is a hilarious, fast paced, often irreverent look back at the most unforgettable cultural touchstones of the last 50 years. one year at a time. everybody in my neighborhood now had on a shirt that said disco sucks. what parent needs to be told not to dangle a baby over a balcony? hands across. america. get your mind out of the gutter. they say you can never go back, but i think we'll force the issue.

>> a rush of arctic hare will hit the northern plains and the midwest before reaching the plains next week. some areas could see current temperatures drop by 20 and 30 degrees. this cold spell is expected to be the start of multiple back-to-back cold blasts which will last through much of january. a massive blackout leaving most of puerto rico in the dark this new year's eve. officials say it could take up to two days to restore power to the nearly 1.3 million customers who have been without power scents early this morning. the power outage caused by a failure in an underground power line forced the closure of businesses, parks, and malls. i'm chilly painter. back to fox news special "who can forget" 2024. the answer is b, lana del rey. what started out as a casual breakfast visit turned into an hours long hangout and spawned one of the year's most surprising viral moments.
5:30 pm
i think she's america's dream girl. everybody says taylor swift. i'm like, no, no, no. lana del rey. that waffle house is too open for business. the artist formerly known as sean combs has gone by many names over the years. you got puff daddy, puffy, sean john, p diddy. in 2024, diddy added another name to his list? inmate number 37452. diddy had this amazing business empire. he made a ton of money. he was like the american success story. he managed to make some very high profile friends over the years who attended his white parties in the hamptons and miami. the guest list read like a who's who from 90 and 2000 pop culture. i'm talking about leo and sarah jessica parker and paris hilton. several kardashians, and even aretha franklin. i was never invited, and it used to offend me.
5:31 pm
but now i'm like, it's okay. new legal trouble for music mogul sean diddy combs. this was the year that things turned for diddy. his ex-girlfriend filed a civil suit against him, alleging years of sex trafficking and sexual abuse. his lawyers deny the allegations. but the case was settled out of court the next day, which raised a lot of red flags. homeland security agents raided two of his homes on the same day. then came the hotel surveillance video. you see diddy wrapped in a bath towel, just beating this poor woman. he doesn't make culpa video. he's almost crying. he's getting emotional. nobody's buying it. you know, that's when i hit rock bottom and i was like, maybe it's not. maybe that was just a wednesday. there are disturbing new allegations surrounding rapper sean diddy combs. he was also just slapped with his 10th lawsuit since november. over the next several. months, several more allegations are brought forward. it was a crescendo
5:32 pm
that led to the inevitable arrest of sean puffy combs. as part of the raids, the feds uncovered a lot of. evidence drugs. guns and more than a thousand bottles of baby oil and lube. you just read the headline of that story. you say, what? i bought a bottle of baby oil in 1982. it's still like just that much is missing now, while the baby oil? well, allegedly, it was used in his sex parties, they call them freak offs. these drug fueled freak off parties would sometimes last for days. often, i.v. bags were provided on site to provide recovery. once you start bringing in ivs into it, you're like, whoa, whoa. and i'm pretty. jaded. diddy allegedly taped the sexual acts that were occurring at these parties. many people believed to use as blackmail. he is raps jeffrey epstein. diddy was sent to the brooklyn metropolitan detention center. ironically, the same place that held ghislaine maxwell.
5:33 pm
something tells me we haven't heard the last of this one. tropical storm helene is forecast to become a dangerous hurricane before making landfall in florida thursday. helene developed in the gulf on september 24th. the cone of uncertainty was going into the panhandle, the big bend of florida. the most powerful part of that storm is in the upper right hand corner. this massive storm is on its way and its impacts will be far reaching from florida to georgia, even south carolina. the storm surge has reached more than 15 feet in some places. however, it was what happened after helene made landfall and moved up towards georgia, and the carolinas. western north carolina already had rain for a week before the hurricane hit. you've got rivers that are full. you've got the soil that's saturated. and then they get hit with a hurricane. you've seen hurricanes devastate places, but you've never seen them do it the way
5:34 pm
helene did it in western north carolina. flood levels reached 25 feet. homes falling into a raging river. people being stranded in their cars. roads were just blown out. gone. no cell service, no power, no water. we were watching the devastation on tv and the people were just helpless. i saw an interview with a with a woman in her family who had said that they were trying to get away from hurricane alley in florida. it just. reminds you what a tenuous grip we have. on our own situation. death toll has reached 230, some still missing, making it the deadliest storm since katrina. hurricane milton is barreling towards the west coast of florida. milton became the second most intense hurricane ever recorded over the gulf of mexico. because helene hit two weeks prior. they consider that a warning shot and they weren't going to take a second chance. they were under orders by the government to evacuate, and they did over 6 million people.
5:35 pm
milton barrels through florida. and then you have more than 40 separate. tornadoes. multiple parts of florida experienced significant flooding. neck deep in some places and millions were without power for days. floridians are very resilient and they were prepared. but i don't think you can ever be prepared enough to have two massive hurricanes. this was damage from two separate storms, but all compiled upon itself. hurricanes rip families apart. hurricanes rip lives apart. that's the damage that sometimes, tragically, you can't put back together. after every storm. there is this huge surge of humanity that comes out to help each other. in a lot of cases. it was really neighbors helping neighbors. that's what happened. watching the response of other americans, people of faith, saying we're going to step up and help these people is a reminder of the power of the human spirit when motivated properly. that is still a representation of the character of america, the ability to come around those in need and help them,
5:36 pm
especially in moments like that. ready for the next who can forget? pop quiz? the answer when we return. jordan's sore nose let out a fiery sneeze, so dad grabbed puffs plus lotion to soothe her with ease. puffs plus lotion is gentle on sensitive skin and locks in moisture to provide soothing relief. a nose in need deserves puffs indeed. america's #1 lotion tissue.

welcome back. so what did columnist taylor lawrence say gave her joy? the answer is c, the murder of unitedhealthcare ceo. when pressed by piers morgan lawrence backtracked, saying. maybe not joy, but certainly not empathy. it almost seems like forever ago. right? it's really like a dream. the current president was actually running for reelection at one point. does anybody remember that? come with me now as we explore the election.
5:41 pm
that didn't happen. president trump did face a pretty robust primary challenge while they were cannibalizing each other. he was ready to just sweep up in the caucuses and primaries, and he did. president biden is locking down the nomination. but meanwhile, the judiciary committee is having hearings about a report from special counsel robert hur. breaking tonight, serious pushback from president biden and his team over the government report that says he is a, quote, elderly man with a poor memory. the hur report started to raise some red flags that maybe biden wasn't all there. that's kind of when you saw more publications, not just on the right side, but on the left, saying that maybe president biden was a little bit too old to be running for president again. it became such a pronounced problem. like it is a little weird that he's waving and there doesn't seem to be anybody there.
5:42 pm
all of these reports made biden a little feisty. now he's acting like he wants to debate me again. well, make my day, pal. instantaneously, trump responds to that with anytime, anywhere, any place. and he has to because biden doesn't know where he is. so you can't give him a precise location. it's go time in atlanta. president biden and former president donald trump about to hit the debate stage. the debate between joe biden and donald trump was painful. it was the first time america had to sit and watch and admit what he looked like. cue karen percy, comedian. it is it is judgment. it felt like i was watching like my grandfather. i watched maybe a clip and a half. and i just thought, i can't take this. i'm going to. continue to move until we get the total ban on the the total initiative relative to what we can do with more border patrol and more signage. you can see trump almost adopt a posture of sympathy. i really don't know what he said at the end of that sentence.
5:43 pm
i don't think he knows what he said either. that night. liberal media, who is watching it going there, there's a problem here. amtrak, joe, that everyone once knew and loved. he didn't exist anymore. the whispers become shouts and by the end of july, we have more than 20 senators and congresspeople coming out saying that it's time for joe to step down. so trump, through all this, was doing what he does, and that's campaigning. then one saturday, everything changes with one rally in butler, pennsylvania. shortly after trump began speaking. six shots rang out. he had grabbed his ear. there's blood all over his hand. it was almost surreal. like, did they actually just try to shoot at him? and then when trump comes up and puts his fist in the air is like, fight, fight. that was, that was a moment. the outrage is almost immediate. i can't have a conversation about what happened in butler with a democrat or a republican where we don't get back to how in the hell did this happen?
5:44 pm
i mean, someone lost their life as a result of this. americans collectively felt like trump was failed by the secret service. i can't speak to what the local police i■m just asking if they were requested? i can't speak to that right now. and i'm watching this going, i wish it would. i don't have an answer as to whether. well, then. how can there be accountability? kimberly cheatle gets out there and quickly manages to do what no one's been able to do in ten years, which is unify the country around the fact that she sucked. the gop convention is ready to ramp up. but first is a mike pence sized hole on the ticket that needs to be filled. the news we have been waiting for throughout the day has just been made. former president trump has selected ohio senator j.d. vance. everybody thought trump was going to pivot towards the middle, but he wound up making the most maga pick imaginable. you put him on these sunday shows and he's he's familiar with the political kung fu. they'll come at him with something and he'll be like, hiya maga.
5:45 pm
