you. our nation grieves with you. we're going to stand with you as you mourn and as you heal. in the weeks to come. i want to thank our brave first responders and law enforcement personnel who stopped the attacker in his tracks before he could kill or injure even more people. thank you everyone at the department of homeland security, the department of justice, including the fbi working nonstop to investigate this heinous act. the fbi is leading the investigation to determine what happened, why it happened, whether there was any continuing threat to public safety. here is what we know so far. the fbi has reported to me the killer was an american citizen. born in texas. he served in the united states army on active duty for many years. he also served in the army reserve until a few years ago.
4:01 pm
the fbi also reported to me that mere hours before the attack he posted videos on social media indicating that he was inspired by isis, especially a desire to kill. a desire to kill. the isis flag was found in his vehicle, which he rented to conduct this attack. possible explosives were found in the vehicle as well and more explosives were found nearby. the situation is very fluid, and the investigation is at a blame stage. and the fact is that right now, excuse me, there you go. the law enforcement intelligence community are continuing to look for any connections, associations or co-conspirator. we have nothing additional to report at this time. the investigation is continuing to be active and no one should jump to conclusions.
4:02 pm
i directed my attorney general, the fbi director, the secretary of homeland security, the head of the national counter-terrorism center, and the intelligence community to work on this intensively until we have a full and complete information. and once we have that information, i will share that information as soon as we can confirm it. additionally, we're tracking the explosion of a cyber truck outside the trump hotel in las vegas. law enforcement and the intelligence community are investigating this as well. including whether there is any possible connection to the attack in new orleans. thus far, there is nothing to report on that score at this time. i directed my team to make sure every resource made available to federal state and local law enforcement to complete the investigation in new orleans quickly and to make sure there is no remaining threat to the american people.

we will support the people of new orleans as they begin the hard work of healing. new orleans is a place unlike any other place in the world. a city full of charm and joy. some people around the world love new orleans because of its history, its culture and above all its people. so i know, while this person committed a terrible assault on a city, the spirit of our new orleans will never, never, never be defeated. it always will shine. we have seen that time and time again throughout its history. and i know we will see it again in the days and weeks ahead. may god bless the people of new orleans and may god bless our police and first responders. may god protect our troops and keep you fully and contemporaneously informed. thank you. new orleans and the leadership on display there does anybody have any confidence that the chief of police in new orleans has any idea what is going on there. you obviously did not take that threat seriously enough to provided a aquatic barricade protection. putting a police car in the middle of the street and coming on tv and saying that you're surprised that your security plan was thwarted by this terrorist. the guy is a mass murderer driving around with bombs looking to run people over you're surprised your one car in the middle of the street could drive on the sidewalk. they need to get professional people in there going to take this seriously enough to bring this n. what is going to do the job. you don't have barricades and bowl bollards. dump truck, cement mixer. how about some cement? where was all that stuff? it wasn't there. and that's what allowed this guy to do what, in fact, he did do. and that body count is just going to get higher, unfortunately, jason.

interesting here, really, is the toro app. it. is a common denominator between the las vegas and the new orleans incident. it is sort of an easy way to rent a car, easy, cheap way to rent a car. i don't know that it's all that relevant to this investigation. what is relevant is you have got the ieds planted. you got a former military soldier involved in the primary attack. you have got ieds in the car. you have got weapons. you have got all the ingredients of a terrorist cell here. there is more the fbi has more to tell us and they are being responsible at this point and not giving us more details. but let's hope they got -- they are out there shaking the tree and getting to the bottom of the rest of this terrorist cell. >> yeah, clearly, senator kennedy foreshadowed and give us the idea that he has more information. and, look, there is still a manhunt out there.

still trying to capture and apprehend some others. jonathan, i got to tell you. i'm looking at the calendar, and i see january 20th, january 20th is the swearing in of the next president. president trump on trump 47, if you will. but it's also the same day as the national championship game college football. and if we think that law enforcement at the federal level can cover both the inauguration, the swearing in of the next president of the united states and everything in washington, d.c. and a national event such as the college football championship. are we really -- do we really think we could cover both of those events on the same day? given everything that's happening now? >> i'm quite skeptical that we can back to your earlier point. one of the important things with security in general is having deterrence. having the bad guys think they can't get away with something

because, you know, that is how secret service has been so successful over the years until recently is people think they are inpen net tribunal. what is striking about this administration that's gone away because we have an open southern border anyone could get in. 99 people on the terrorist watch list come through and be allowed in from this administration. and you saw biden's press conference earlier which really exsuited imenat this tuesday what is going on and seemed to be diverting like you mentioned with earlier guest great point in striking was the fact that he is talking about things that don't matter to distract from his own responsibilities which ultimately i think leaves us vulnerable. j. >> jason: the secret service is down 1,000 agents. they haven't exactly exuded a lot of confidence that they could get the job done either. panel, thank you. all right, after the new orleans terror attack, is the biden administration doing enough to
