12:01 am
edition of america's late news. >> fox news at night and breaking tonight. we are getting brand new information on the horrifying truck attack on people in the french quarter of new orleans. the fbi now leading the investigation and treating it as an act of terror, also asking for the public's help in the search for likely coconspirators, which, by the way, that is a live look right now. the french quarter, the scene of the crime in new orleans as the death toll has now risen to 15 with dozens injured, some severely. and one very important question that my colleague aisha hosni asked louisiana senator john kennedy. >> is new orleans safe tonight? >> yes, but we're still in the process of tightening up security. we're still in the process of doing doing everything that we possibly can, and we will go in depth on
12:02 am
that very process. >> we have team fox coverage. garrett tenney is live on the ground in new orleans with the latest on the investigation. but we begin with marianne rafferty on the other potential terror threat that took place in las vegas, involving a tesla cybertruck and a trump owned hotel. marianne. good evening. yeah. >> good evening. trace. >> well, just a few hours after that deadly terrorist attack in new orleans, the tesla cybertruck exploded and caught fire outside the trump towers in las vegas a short time ago. >> elon musk posted on x. we have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented cybertruck, and it's unrelated to the vehicle itself. all vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion. sheriff kevin mcmahill says the truck exploded in front of the trump building just before 9:00 this morning, injuring seven people, reportedly minor injuries and killing the driver. mcmahill says the tesla truck seemed to take the brunt of the blast. the glass front doors of the building are still intact. this new drone video revealing the
12:03 am
evidence in the back of the truck. >> so those are gasoline canisters. they are camp fuel canisters and large firework mortars, as you see that. it looks like the exterior of that truck is completely intact as it sits there. the fact that this was a cybertruck really limited the damage that occurred inside of the valet. >> law enforcement is investigating a number of leads, but have not identified the person who died inside that vehicle, sources telling fox news. the vehicle was seen on surveillance camera driving past the valet section of trump tower an hour prior to the incident, and then returning and stopping at the front doors. the vehicle stopped for approximately 15 seconds prior to the explosion. president biden, addressing the nation earlier this evening. >> we're tracking the explosion of a cyber truck outside the trump hotel in las vegas. law enforcement and the intelligence community are investigating this as well,
12:04 am
including whether there's any possible connection with the attack in new orleans. thus far, there's nothing to report on that score at this time, and the investigation is ongoing. >> and we do expect to learn more in the coming hours. >> and we'll get back to you as the news warrants. marianne. thank you. meantime, in new orleans, at least 15 people are dead, dozens injured after a suspect now identified as u.s. citizen and army veteran shamsudin jabbar, intentionally rammed an electric pickup truck into a crowd of people celebrating the new year in new orleans. garrett tenney is live in the french quarter with the very latest. garrett. good evening. >> yeah. trace, good evening to you. the top priority for investigators right now is to determine if this suspect acted alone, or if there is any other ongoing threats to public safety. today, investigators found multiple improvised explosive devices throughout the french quarter. they have found they believe they have found all of them. but there is always a concern in an area as
12:05 am
big as this that they might have missed something. so they have continued searching the area throughout the day and into the evening. right now in houston, texas, though, a swat team from the fbi and local police have surrounded a house on the north side of the city. we're told that that house is in some way connected to this morning's terror attack here in new orleans, and they are concerned there could be explosive devices inside that home. so police have been clearing out everyone who lives nearby before they move in. the fbi has named the suspect as 42 year old shamsuddin jabbar. he is a u.s. citizen born in texas. he served 13 years in the army and army reserves. we've also learned that hours before the attack this morning, jabbar posted videos on social media about his support for isis and expressing a desire to kill people. investigators also found an isis flag inside the truck he drove in this attack, along with an ied that had a
12:06 am
remote to set it off. the death toll right now stands at 15 people, but that number obviously could go up given that more than 30 others were injured, some of them critically, in this horrific attack in this crowd was especially big trace, because new orleans is always a big destination for people for new year's eve. but today was the big college football game, the sugar bowl, taking place between georgia and notre dame. there were more than 60,000 fans in town for that game. many of them were here last night for the festivities as well. so there was a lot of folks here. that game has been delayed from tonight now taking place tomorrow afternoon, and we're told they are bringing in a lot of additional resources to ensure that folks coming for that game are going to be safe and feel safe. >> trace anthony, live for us in the french quarter. garrett. thank you. let's bring in louisiana attorney general liz murrill. attorney general, it's great to have you on the show.
12:07 am
i want to know if you can update us on the investigation. specifically, what are we learning, if anything, about these potential accomplices or associates that may have been working with the suspect? are we learning any new information about them at all? >> quite frankly, trace, we really don't have very much information about them at this time. we had some information this morning that led us to believe that there were multiple individuals who were involved and replacing those ieds after the driver had already been neutralized. so, you know, we certainly have a high degree of confidence that there are multiple people that are involved, but i really don't have a lot of details on who they are or where they might be at this time. although we do believe that new orleans is secure. yeah. >> and i know you think new orleans is secure. i'm wondering my exact question. garrett tenney, our correspondent on the ground there, was talking about the sugar bowl being moved to
12:08 am
tomorrow. are you comfortable knowing that accomplices and associates are still on the run? are you comfortable with the sugar bowl going forward tomorrow? >> look, i don't know how anybody could be 100% comfortable that way. i mean, we've got thousands of people in the city and, you know, we still probably would whether the game goes forward or not, i am confident that the superdome will be secured. and i'm confident that the that the french quarter is going to be very secure. and that's where most people are going to be. so, you know, there's an enormous law enforcement presence right now in the french quarter and all around the superdome and in the entire area of downtown new orleans. the governor is bringing in 100 of the national guard to make sure that the new orleans police department isn't stretched beyond its capacity to deal with other crowds. so, you know, it's not an optimal situation, but i don't think there are any easy decisions to
12:09 am
make here. i do think they made the right decision to delay it. >> yeah. your governor was also asked you brought him up. your governor was also asked about safety and he said the following. watch this. >> we recognize we got a problem right here, right? we're going to fix it. it is going to be a top priority as we go into the super bowl and mardi gras. and the solution that we're going to come up with is going to be a permanent one. it's going to be placed into the standard operating procedure of having major events and securing that quarter. >> the question was brought up, attorney general, because the police superintendent was asked and kirkpatrick was talking about if this she said, you know, statement was that the terrorists defeated their security system. >> well, you know, i've been to the scene. i was there this afternoon. the system that is there, the system that was in place at the time was a police car that was parked across the
12:10 am
front of the street so that no one could access that street, presumably. i think that, you know, there is some footage of this truck driving down canal street and then very, very swiftly flipping around on the sidewalk around the police car. from my perception at the scene, i think that the existing security system, even if that flap had been activated, the same thing could have occurred. you know, i think that i think it probably had been scouted out in advance. and this was someone who was very intent on committing the crime that that he committed. >> attorney general, thank you for coming on the show. we appreciate it. best of luck to the city of new orleans and the people of your state. thank you for your time. >> thank you. and please keep the victims in your prayers. >> we will. meantime, president biden, addressing the nation earlier this evening saying he'd been in contact with every agency in the federal government as well as officials in louisiana. and president elect trump is out with a
12:11 am
message of his own. david spunt is live in washington with that side of the story. david, good evening, trace. >> good evening, president biden. not at the white house tonight. he's spending the first night of 2025 at camp david, the presidential retreat in maryland. there, he gave new details to the american people about this suspect. in the hours leading up to this tragedy. >> the fbi also reported to me that mere hours before the attack, he posted videos on social media indicating that he was inspired by isis, expressing a desire to kill, a desire to kill the isis flag was found in his vehicle, which he rented to conduct this attack. >> that 42 year old suspect also served in the military, specifically the u.s. army, even deploying to afghanistan for almost a year in 2009. authorities continue to comb through his social media and all known contacts, as they believe others are well aware of his plans in advance. meanwhile, the man who's moving into the white house in less than three weeks, president elect donald trump, put out a
12:12 am
statement on social media earlier today that reads in part as follows. our hearts are with all the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the new orleans police department. the trump administration will fully support the city of new orleans as they investigate and recover from this act of pure evil. the president elect in that statement also said, quote, the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country. end quote. now, after there was some early reporting trace, the suspect may have had a connection to the southern border. it turns out the truck was actually spotted in eagle pass, texas, a border town, back in november, but with a different driver. but to be clear, this suspect was born in the united states. president biden, meanwhile, expected to be back at the white house tomorrow and will continue to be briefed by the fbi, doj and other agencies. >> trace david spunt live for us in d.c. david, if news breaks, we'll get you back on. thank you. let's bring in the host of the aaron cohen show podcast, israeli special ops veteran aaron cohen, former san
12:13 am
bernardino county sheriff's deputy megan mccarthy, along with former fbi special agent and fox news contributor nicole parker. nicole, first to you, we started out the show with the vegas cyber truck explosion near trump tower. and then we ended with garrett tenney. and we also talked to david spunt. these two incidents, your fbi background, do you believe they're connected? do you believe they're both terrorist acts? >> my gut instinct says, yes, that they are both terrorist acts. are they directly linked? i it would be too soon to tell that trace, but i i'm sorry. i look at everything and i think i'm a tesla truck in front. think about it. elon musk associated with tesla. president trump's trump tower and, you know, fireworks. explosive devices potentially found in that truck. and then both vehicles were rented out of state, brought to different states and wreaked havoc in different communities, whether it was in new orleans or whether it was in las vegas. i
12:14 am
just don't think that's a coincidence. i really don't. but, you know, we'll see what the investigation unfolds. but it is so important right now that the fbi is on point, looking at every single potential and possible lead. we looked at the press conference that occurred in las vegas, and i thought it was, quite frankly, a very good press conference. i think it was informative and to the point and direct and was stated with confidence. then you looked at the press conference in new orleans this morning. you had an asac from the fbi originally saying this is not terrorism, right? and then coming out and saying it is terrorism. that is unacceptable. the fbi needs to be on point. i understand there's a lot of moving parts, but the american people need to feel confident in the fbi, in my opinion, is because the fbi has not been focused on the top priorities. they are still focused on january 6th capitol violence trace. it is still on the homepage of the fbi's website. they focus on misdemeanors and put the full force of the federal government focusing on misdemeanors, while in the meantime we have isis inspired terrorist attacks
12:15 am
going on, killing 15 innocent victims. the fbi has to change. i'm sorry. it is time for change. president trump is going to change the fbi. it is time for reform. >> it really is. and one of those things, aaron cohen, that you brought up today, and we've been listening to all of these different sides and views, is the idea that, you know, the new orleans, this press conference in new orleans today, you had people coming out. i mean, you had the governor coming out saying, you know, we're safe, but you had the fbi this morning saying, this is not terror. there was an isis flag on the vehicle, and the first thing they do is come out and say, this is not a terror incident. >> not only that, trace, i saw a photo of an fbi agent or a picture of an fbi agent taking a photo of the isis flag. and that was that kind of rang a bell. so you have to get in front of terrorism. it's no different than protecting a president or protecting a special event. and there's a ton of special events coming up right now. so we need to ask ourselves, did the fbi have eyes on this guy? was there any
12:16 am
active intelligence on him? where was the intelligence on the stolen weapons? there was a 308 that was stolen. there was a glock that was stolen. the rental cars, his prior radicalization. where is the information on this guy? that's what i want to know. one and then two. hats off to law enforcement. they put this guy down pretty quickly. but we had bollard failures, which is a physical security failure. today, ten days after the magdeburg, germany car terror attack. how is that acceptable? ten days, 12 days afterwards. and we've got a crowd of people that were shot, 15 people dead. and i just think that we've got a monster dei problem within the fbi, because when that sack came out and nicole will speak to this better than me and said, this isn't terrorism, you cannot tell me this isn't terrorism. when you've got the tesla truck going off, you've got a ramming vehicle attack happening at the same time. and we're just we're in a place right now where we have to
12:17 am
start getting in front of these things, because this is only going to get worse. >> megan, you have done security a lot. you know the ins and outs of it. are you comfortable with the sugar bowl going forward tomorrow, knowing there are accomplices and maybe these accomplices are on the run, or maybe they feel like they have unfinished business? do you feel, as a security expert that you think the sugar bowl should go forward tomorrow? >> it's a really big onion that you have to take piece by piece. and i understand that people train their whole lives for this moment, but the american citizens, that is our top priority in securing not just for the players, but for the fans and the media and everybody involved. if i was in charge, i would postpone it until we can reassure the american public we have everyone involved. there is no such thing as a lone gunman. this person came with a well organized, planned out attack. he had help whether it was domestic or international or a combination of both. if we cannot tell the american people that you are willing to send your teenage son or daughter to this game, we need to wait. >> yeah, that's a good point. nicole, back to you. was this
12:18 am
on the fbi's radar? and if not, should this have been on the fbi's radar? >> look, it's very, very difficult to find sleeping cells at terror cells. i understand and respect that. okay? i'm always going to be fair, and i'm going to tell the truth. it is not easy to detect this many times, but the fact that this individual had videos out before he even committed this act on social media saying, you know, i want to do this. the fact that senator kennedy came out and said, you know what, fbi, we are going to hold you accountable and you are going to be transparent. we will give you some time to do this investigation. and then the american people will know, trust me. he knows something that we are not quite privy to. but again, it goes back to what aaron was discussing, you know, trace these dei events, these, you know, diversity agent recruitment events. there was this diversity push going on in new orleans back in july. it happened in the miami division where i served as well. if you are focused on anything other than the mission at hand to protect the american people and
12:19 am
uphold the constitution, it is a distraction. it can be very dangerous. and that is not what americans want. your number one priority is to protect americans. i think, you know, we need to know, did the fbi know about this? and if they did, there needs to be full transparency on it. >> that's a very good point, aaron. you look at what's happening in the middle east. you look at what's happening in this country. is this is this a symptom of a bigger disease, isis attack in the united states? the middle east is a mess. you have nasrallah, you have sinwar, you have these terrorist cells. hamas, hezbollah are now no longer is isis making a statement here? >> i believe they are al-jolani who is now the head of syria is a former member of the al-nusra front, which was connected to al qaeda. all of these islamic groups want to take a piece in the middle east. i think you nailed it. i think there's a connective thread here between what's happening in the middle east, the lack of american military pressure, special operations pressure in the middle east, which which was
12:20 am
incredible. five, six years ago when that task force, this classified task force wiped isis out, when all those crazy videos started coming out. you need that forward operating pressure and you need an fbi like nicole just said, which is focusing on protecting the american people. i think all this tissue is connected, megan, there in the house now of the suspect. >> at least they're about to go in the house of the suspect in denver. i mean, in in houston, in the north part of houston. what are they looking for? >> well, i think they are looking for anybody or information that's involved. any hard drives, any computers, any forensic evidence that they can get into and see how did this person become radicalized? there's a difference. >> these are live pictures, by the way, of the suspect's house. i'm sorry. continue. >> there's a difference between a united states citizen and an american. he. yes. he was born and raised here, but that does not mean he was an american. he had hatred to the west. and he planned that out this morning. so they're looking for anybody else involved who knew what? how did this happen? who else was involved? like we have pointed out, he did not act
12:21 am
alone. so there is information in that residence that is going to point to assailants. >> yeah. megan. thank you, aaron. thank you, nicole parker. thank you as well. we'll be back to you in moments. meantime, we are monitoring two huge stories tonight. the terror attack in new orleans, 15 people now dead, and the cybertruck explosion at the trump hotel in las vegas. we'll have continuing coverage of breaking news next. >> and this let me ask you, you're using head and shoulders, right? >> only when i see flakes, then i switch back to my regular shampoo. >> you should use it every wash, otherwise the flakes will come back. >> he's right, you know. is that tiny troy? >> the ingredients in head and shoulders keep the microbes that cause flakes at bay. >> microbes? really? >> they're always on your scalp. >> the good news? there's no itchiness, dryness, or flakes down here. >> i love tiny troy and his tiny, gorgeous hair. >> make every wash count. >> and for stubborn dandruff, try head and shoulders. clinical strength. >> hi, grandma. i played baseball today. oh that's

12:26 am
violence from over in the middle east. and so this is a time not for panic, but for heightened vigilance, given the risk. >> that was fbi director christopher wray back in march, testifying to congress about the surge in threats to the homeland. now, the massacre in new orleans, putting a renewed focus on u.s. national security. let's bring in former fbi special agent jonathan gilliam, former boston fd superintendent and chief daniel linskey, and former member of the fbi's joint terrorism task force, retired naval officer steve rogers. gentlemen, thank you all for coming on. steve, do you first, are you worried you listen to the fbi director, chris wray? he's been saying this. he's been sounding the alarm. the border was wide open. he was sounding the alarm. do you worry about our ability now that we are out of afghanistan? that that we don't have the presence we had in the middle east? do you worry about our ability to pick up chatter about terrorist activity? >> i worry about this every day, trace. look, the fbi has
12:27 am
literally failed us in every way, shape and form. >> and i think today, the fbi agent coming out and suggesting this was not a terrorist attack. are you kidding me? i mean, for goodness sakes. but i'm worrying about the fact that there's been a reduction of human sources on the ground. electronic surveillance. >> they need to really get their act together and start doing what they did years ago. >> and that's protect the american people first and foremost. >> and chief linskey, to you, i'm wondering, you know, we talked about this earlier with our panel, but i'm wondering why you believe the initial reaction of the fbi this morning was to come out and say, this is not a terrorist act. >> i think that's a default to try and keep people feeling comfortable. and it was a mistake to do that. i remember having the conversation with the sack in boston and i said, you know, we said, rick, you need to take the lead in this this is a terrorist attack. and he said, well, it hasn't been determined yet. so, rick, two bombs went off on boylston street. you got an eight year old and two women killed, 250 people maimed. it's terrorists. we just don't know whether it's
12:28 am
international, local, left, right center, but it's terrorism. and i think sometimes they get caught up on what the true legal definition is, when in fact, we just got to talk about what happened, what occurred to the community, and how do we find these guys as quickly as possible and hold them accountable? >> i wonder, jonathan, if you wonder why this isis flag was flying on the back of this vehicle. it's not as if, i mean, we've covered many terror attacks in this in this country, on this network. and it seems to me like it's not standard operating procedure just to kind of telegraph where you're from and what you're what you're doing. >> well, when it comes to terrorism, they don't really have standard operating procedures. i mean, they may have standardized tactics, but depending on who was guiding them and whether or not they decided to do this on their own or with a small group of people, they may decide to fly the flag. i mean, you do see them flying the flag overseas. you just don't see them typically inside the united states when they carry out an attack or around the country. so that wasn't so unusual for
12:29 am
me. i think, though, what what is unusual is the fact that tactics like vehicle attacks continue to be used more and more, but law enforcement and city officials don't evolve with these tactics and change the way they defend things. they allow the criminals and the terrorists to get away with these things because they do not go past the quote unquote. that's not the way we do it. >> yeah. it's interesting. i want to play some sound. this is president biden talking about what was happening to the suspect, or what the suspect was doing on his way to the scene. watch. >> the fbi also reported to me that mere hours before the attack, he posted videos on social media indicating that he was inspired by isis expressing a desire to kill. >> what do you think about that, steve? i mean, is it something that you believe? is it is it kind of like a manifesto of sorts?
12:30 am
>> absolutely. >> sending a message. >> but what astonishes me, how many people saw that? >> you know, we're telling people, you see something, say something. >> how about law enforcement agencies? i mean, it's on social media where thousands, maybe millions of people could see. >> we've got to be really vigilant and understand that our instinct tells us there's something wrong here. we've got to report it. but yeah, that was a message. that was a message to the american people. >> yeah. and chief linskey, i'm wondering, you just you made the kind of the comparison, the analogy, if you will, from boston, the boston marathon bombing. i'm wondering when you hear this, this report that there were accomplices, that the fbi believes there are still accomplices out there. do you do you think that that is, in fact true? do you think there were accomplices? >> i think there are individuals that are possibly accomplices that we have to rule out or rule in. there was a lot of people we were running down that we thought might be involved in the marathon bombing, who had nothing to do with it. and we had to rule
12:31 am
them out. but they were clearly accomplices. and in fact, even after the shootout in watertown, we were able to do an undercover investigation and find the individual who supplied the weapon to tsarnaev that he used to murder sean collier and shoot it out with the watertown police. so there are other people involved, exactly what their involvement is. we have to find out. we saw in the chelsea bombing individuals who removed the ied from the bag and put the ied back into the trash barrel and took off with the bag, and law enforcement was trying to figure out whether they were involved or just happened to not, you know, get blown up when they moved the ied and discovered that they were looking for the bag and didn't have an actual connection to the attack, but we needed to find out what their story was. and we're not sure exactly what the fbi is chasing here. but there is concern and as there should be talking about what the fbi is chasing just to our audience knows that is a live look. >> it is 9:30 p.m. central time in houston. that is a live look at the home of the suspect. it is being searched right now. it has been been searched for the
12:32 am
past couple of hours. our reporter on the scene tells us that the house is about one minute drive from the mosque, and the mosque has condemned this attack, but is telling its visitors and telling its people not to speak to the media. to you, jonathan gilliam, going back to vegas, i'm wondering what you think when they find gas tanks and camping fuel in the back of the tesla, connected by a detonator system by the driver? >> well, also with fireworks, the fireworks are going to be a key to this where they got these fireworks. i think that's where the mass of an explosion came from. and then you could continue to hear those fireworks later on. i think that's going to be very telling. the fact that it was a tesla, the fact that it was parked underneath the trump sign and is very telling. but those fireworks who typically uses those, we know that the tsarnaev brothers use those to make their bombs, but also
12:33 am
antifa uses fireworks all the time. so that's very telling. and if that they both of these attackers, new orleans and las vegas, both rented their cars on an unknown, relatively obscure website. i find that very telling as well. i don't know if they're linked, but it's very strange. >> yeah, and very quickly. i've got about 10s left to each of you here. daniel linskey, do you believe these these two attacks are linked? >> i think initially they are. and you're going to have to prove to me that they're not. and they'll do that, hopefully figure out whether they are confirm it or prove that they're unrelated and different. >> steve rogers, your thoughts on that? >> i believe they are linked, and perhaps we're going to find more people who are involved than what we now know. >> steve rogers, daniel linskey, jonathan gilliam, thank you. appreciate it. you got it. thanks, jason. well, new information on the new orleans terror attack has been coming into fox news all night long. we are monitoring the

12:39 am
was rented by the suspect was in the past few weeks in mexico. for some reason. we don't know why. we don't know what the link is. we're not pointing fingers. we're just saying that it's interesting that we are at this point where steve scalise makes a very valuable point. >> well, where there's smoke, there's fire, and two things can be true at the same time. you can have an individual who was infiltrated while he was an american citizen. and you can also have a problem at the southern border that may be influenced this attack. so both things can be true. i don't think it's too soon to ask questions. i think the american people deserve answers, and they know that we know by now. so it's time to be transparent to the american people. tell us what you know so that we can help. they always say, if you see something, say something. but how can the american public help if we don't know what to look for or you're not telling us what you know? so i think it's time to open up and allow us to be a part of the investigation. i understand as a law enforcement officer, you're privy to certain things
12:40 am
you want to keep close to the chest. but i think we have seen the destruction at our southern border for four years. we know that there's some correlation. yeah. >> daniel penny saw something and did something and had to fight for his life because of it. aaron cohen, you can investigate until you're blue in the face. we have investigated the first assassination attempt against trump. we've got no answers. we have investigated the second one. we've got no answers. we have investigated these types of things again and again and again. and they keep happening. >> so in counterterrorism, it's about there's so it's what you just said here, trey. so a lot of people talking about the investigation and what's going to be revealed. but that's not how you stop terrorists. you need actionable intelligence. and the fbi's job with those counterterrorism agencies is to get surveillance on individuals who will commit acts of terror. that's listening to phones, tracking emails, looking at the social media groups, looking for those algorithms, looking for those anomalies that don't add up. and when you've got a guy who i'm hearing is in all

kinds of financial debt, turns to islam, and it has nothing to do with muslims, turns to islam and fits into another baseline, and then gets his hands on two stolen weapons that aren't being tracked rented vehicles. and there's two attacks happening on the same day here. not coincidence. we've got a problem with our ability to be able to prevent attacks. israel stops a thousand of them a year. that's what my unit does. and we go after these guys, and we put the cuffs on them dressed as arabs, going into those neighborhoods, whatever it takes to prevent them from happening. you got 15 dead real people hear real stories. you got to stop these attacks. you've got to put the teeth on the fbi and the steel. whatever's causing this, it needs to go. there's a lot of people talking tough, but nobody is preventing this. you had the same type of military veteran or veteran who leaned into radical islam for the fort hood shooting. and we just had a car ramming attack two weeks ago in magdeburg, germany. where's the physical measures? where's the bollards? where's the fbi? where's the intelligence? you've got to get

in front of these things. that's how it's handled. >> and it's amazing to me when you look at some of the things that happened, you wonder what is the target? megan. right. what was the target? i mean, this is a guy who lives in houston. he goes to new orleans in a rented vehicle, and the attack happens on bourbon street in new orleans. there's a lot of cities between houston and new orleans. why not pick someplace else? why does the guy rent a car in colorado and drive it to las vegas? it just you wonder, what is the target? what is the goal exactly? >> and you said it correct. there are so many other cities when you think of, you know, the september 11th bomb or terrorist attack was at the world trade center because it would send a message, these things are happening in front of trump tower with an elon musk vehicle to send a message, whether it's directly related to what happened in new orleans or to a message for the american public that we are here, the fight is here. it is time to be prepared. and, you know, as aaron said, we need to be proactive and not reactive. it is time for the american

some? i don't know. was it just luck that this guy got around that cop car and drove through that crowd? well, clearly, luck is a very bad word. >> no, i'm with you. i'm with you. and i think you're right. and i think it's too early to determine whether or not it was luck or whether or not it was premeditated. but the fact is, this guy came for a specific reason. he was in a rented car, and that's to get the eyeballs off him if his plates getting run so they can't figure out who he is. he ripped through a crowd. those bollards were down, which means he drove into that soft area, had multiple weapons in the vehicle. and you can see from some of that footage just posted this on the pod. trace gets out of the car after there's a ton of bodies laying on the ground, half dead or dead, and then opens fire. hats off to the law enforcement responders who put him down relatively quickly, but i believe that there's like megan just said, there's a ton of soft targets out here. we don't know what's brewing online right now between globalize the intifada, between what's going on in the middle east race, between what's happening in syria right now, between not

12:50 am
discussed, between the truck assault in new orleans and, of course, the deadly blast outside trump international hotel in las vegas just hours later. now, president biden said as much today when he was reacting to the carnage in new orleans, where the search is for answers continue even at this hour. however, mr. biden made one thing clear the people of new orleans indeed the american family will recover from this quote. >> all those who are injured. to all the people of new orleans who are grieving today, i want you to know i grieve with you. our nation grieves with you. we're going to stand with you as you mourn and as you heal in the weeks to come. >> meantime, president elect trump strongly addressed the attack while taking what some considered a thinly veiled swipe at the biden administration when he said, when i said the criminals coming in from far worse than criminals we have in our country. that statement was
12:51 am
constantly refuted by democrats and the fake news media. but it turned out to be true. the crime rate in our country is at a level that nobody has ever seen before. our hearts are with the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the new orleans police department. the trump administration will fully support the city of new orleans as they investigate and recover from this act of pure evil. now, his is a statement shared by many new and many lawmakers on capitol hill, some of whom, including south carolina senator lindsey graham, directly referenced islamic terrorism in his remarks following the attack. now, in case you're wondering, as of this very hour trace, there's no word tonight on whether or how soon the president might, in fact, make his way over to new orleans in the aftermath of the tragedy. tragedy. however, given the brevity of time that he has left in office, he may decide not to do that. we'll
12:52 am
just have to see trace. that's a good bet. kevin corke live for us in dc. kevin thank you. let's bring in california gop chairwoman jessica millan patterson and independent women features editor in chief kaylee mcghee white. thank you both for coming on. i mean, he talked about the biden speech today. kaylee mcghee, white to you first. it took 16 hours. he spoke for three minutes. it was total teleprompter because the teleprompter went down at one point. not really confidence inducing. what did you think? >> no. and that's what makes this tragedy so much more alarming is the fact that apparently we have a commander in chief who can barely be dragged out of bed to give a few brief remarks on on how he's still being updated before shuffling off, refusing to take any questions. >> and again, this is hours after the crisis began to unfold. in fact, president elect donald trump released a statement of his own before biden had even said a word publicly. this is extremely concerning, and a big question that i have for the american public is, is no one concerned that biden's apparent physical weakness could potentially
12:53 am
invite further crises like these? a lot of us have been warning since the election that we were entering a very dangerous period of time, where our enemies know that they have a limited time frame in which to act. because of biden's weakness and because of trump's projected strength. well, we're experiencing the consequences of that now, and god help us trace, because we have 19 days left with biden still in office. >> yeah. it's unbelievable. senator john kennedy, the senator from louisiana, had this to say. watch. >> there are things that i've been told that i think are true, that i'm not sharing with you today because it could interfere with their investigation. but after we get to the bottom of this, they need to tell the american people the truth. and the people of new orleans are truth and the people of america the truth, when it is appropriate in this investigation is complete. you will find out what happened and who was responsible, or i will raise fresh hell. >> he's intimating that the people don't trust the fbi.
12:54 am
jessica. that's what he's saying. i mean, we lets the drones know. answer the chinese spy balloon. no answer. russian collusion not got nothing for you. the border is closed. people don't trust the fbi. and that's what he's saying. >> and it's a really sad state. now, in america, we saw in november people were saying we need change with the biden harris administration has done to our country is not where we need to be. we have seen the weakened position that we are on the international stage. we see crime, we see an open border. these are all concerns that americans had at the top of their list. that's why it's so critical that early on, we need to make sure that the appointments for president trump, whether it's homeland security, department of justice, his, his intelligence, people, they all need to be confirmed immediately so president trump can get to work on fixing our problems. >> i mean, i can't tell you. caitlin mcgee white, how many times today i heard from members of congress, hey, maybe kash patel goes in there and he fixes this thing so people actually start trusting the fbi again.
12:55 am
>> well, let's hope because public trust in the fbi is at an all time low for this century. that's what a recent poll found just this year. and that, again, is exacerbating this crisis. and the problem with the fbi. they've given conflicting messaging at first. you know, they're coming around on different details of this story. again, no one trusts what they have to say. and the problem is that the fbi has abandoned its primary mission, which is securing the domestic security of this nation. and instead, they've pursued a political agenda, often at the expense of our national security. and a great question for kash patel, if he's confirmed, or even for lawmakers who want to investigate this further, is how many fbi special agents and investigators were deferred to the prosecutions of donald trump over the past year? how many of those special agents were assigned specifically to january 6th cases? because i don't think we're going to like the answers, trace. and we just we might just find that that political agenda has cost american lives. yeah. >> and i've got about 35
12:56 am
seconds for you. but the first thing the fbi came out this morning, jessica, we've talked about this said is this is not a terror attack. they saw the isis flag. they knew at the very least, they don't know whether it's a terrorist to say it's not it. it erodes trust even further. >> it absolutely does. and it was right for president trump to immediately direct our attention to the crime that is happening all over our country. this is what a biden-harris administration had brought us. and this is why the american people said we need something different. yeah. >> and i very quickly, i want to read this. this is senator josh hawley. put this up. the senate should demand the public testimony of alejandro mayorkas and the fbi director wray, immediately. that duo has been skipping out on hearings for months now. there's been a deadly attack on american soil. they need to provide answers. jessica. caitlin mcgee. white. thank you both. our live coverage of the deadly new year's eve truck attack in new orleans continues in the next hour on fox news at night. breaking news. keep it here. >> it ain't my dad's razor, dad. hey. watch it. it's from gillette labs. >> this green bar releases trapped hairs from my face. >> game changer. >> while the flex disc contours
