10:01 pm
welcome to a special edition of jesse watters prime time. i'm kayleigh mcenany in for jesse. we start tonight with a fox news alert. this is the terrorist attack that we've been talking about for the last 48 hours. a lot of new developments, though, in both the attack that left 14 dead. of course, i'm speaking about the attack on new years in new orleans. and then there's the separate cyber truck explosion in las vegas. first we go to new orleans, where the fbi is now officially calling it a terrorist attack. and we're learning more about the suspect, 42 year old shamsudin jabar, who says he was inspired by isis and expressed a chilling desire to kill. now, before mowing down innocent new year's eve revelers, investigators say he had posted a series of alarming videos on social media. >> did you know who he was? have you seen him at all? >> well, i seen him, obviously.
10:02 pm
he's my neighbor. was my neighbor. >> what was he like? >> like calm, collect. don't talk much. very private person, you know. don't interrupt us. we don't interrupt him. >> was he acting strange at all, or was it like any other encounter? no. how long was he living here for? >> he was living here for a year and a half. almost, almost. >> how long had the white truck been here? >> only one night. >> there were five videos posted on jabbar's facebook account, which are timestamped beginning at 1:29 a.m. and the last at 3:02 a.m. in the first video, jabar explains he originally planned to harm his family and friends, but was concerned the news headlines would not focus on the, quote, war between the believers and the disbelievers, end quote. additionally, he stated he had joined isis before this summer. >> some neighbors said he seemed totally normal, and yet he posted these chilling
10:03 pm
facebook videos before committing terrorism. the fbi also just released new photos showing jabar just an hour before the rampage, dropping off two coolers containing explosive devices around bourbon street. police also recovered three phones and two laptops from the airbnb house that caught fire early wednesday morning. this was the house that we reported on yesterday where jabar was seen on ring camera unloading boxes from the truck he used in the attack. police are also looking into any other properties that could be linked to him, like his trailer in houston. new images obtained by fox news digital show what appeared to be an abandoned trailer with rusted workout equipment. you see it there. so what drove jabar to go from a, quote, normal neighbor to driving a pickup truck through a crowd on new year's eve. his brother says he was radicalized, telling the new york times that jabar was brought up christian but converted to islam at a young age, adding, quote, this is radicalization, not
10:04 pm
religion. now, at one point, the fbi feared a possible terror cell in the city of new orleans, but police are now ruling that out. they say jabar acted alone. >> let me be very clear about this point. this was an act of terrorism. it was premeditated and an evil act. but at this point, currently, and this is another position, another fact i want to be clear on, we do not assess at this point that anyone else involved in this attack is involved in this attack, except for shamsuddin jabar, the subject you've already been briefed on. >> so far, police have also found no definite links between the new orleans attack and the cybertruck explosion outside of the trump hotel in las vegas. aside from their military service and renting their trucks through the app, turo, two pretty big coincidences there. investigators have id'd the driver of the tesla cybertruck as 37 year old matthew leibensperger, an army
10:05 pm
veteran who served as a green beret with deployments overseas to afghanistan and ukraine. they were able to identify him through multiple ids that they found in the truck, and that wasn't all that they found. >> first and foremost is a military identification. we also found a passport. we found a desert eagle 50 caliber semi-automatic pistol. and if you'll notice on a lot of these guns that we're going to talk about here, they're almost just burnt beyond recognition as well. there's an slr model b 30 semiautomatic firearm, a number of fireworks that were still in the vehicle that had to be removed. notably, we found an iphone and a smart watch, and then several credit cards were also in the name of our subject. >> we also learned that he had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. >> now, further complicating
10:06 pm
this identification of this individual, we also discovered through the coroner's office that the individual had sustained a gunshot wound to the head prior to the detonation of the vehicle. one of the handguns was found at his feet inside of the vehicle. >> the fbi earlier today was conducting a search at a home in colorado springs, believed to be tied to leibensperger. a law enforcement official told the ap that he may have gotten into a fight with his wife before renting the cybertruck. police are still looking for a motive, but officials say he, too, was acting alone. now, there are plenty of unanswered questions that remain. what kinds of new threats are bubbling? just underneath the surface? is isis walking among us? one thing is for certain, this is not how we expected to ring in the new year. joining me now, former secretary of state mike pompeo. secretary pompeo, an honor to have you
10:07 pm
here. you're the perfect guest to speak to this. i want to pull up a list of isis inspired attacks to put into perspective just how big of an attack this was. and as you can see, at the top was pulse nightclub. that was the deadliest isis attack. it left 49 dead. then you go to new orleans, which is tied with san bernardino at 14 dead. we know at its height, isis was controlling a territory the size of britain, about a third of syria, about 40% of iraq. and then you came in with president trump and isis was decimated. what do you assess and estimate the strength of isis today, after four years of this, president biden okay. >> good evening. sadly, we're right back in the soup again, precisely where we were in january of 2017, just as you referred to with isis roaming free, cutting the heads off civilians on the beaches. we all remember those videos. and the attacks in new orleans remind us all this evil still
10:08 pm
roams. and when america fails to lead, when you don't engage in solid law enforcement and enforcing criminal laws, when you can't secure your borders, when you refuse to call out radical islamic terrorism and punish it, you get the events of october 7th. you get the events of just this past week in new orleans. you get a resurgence of isis. you get al qaeda back growing again after what happened in afghanistan. this is a this is a set of failed policies that lead directly to increased risks all across america, in our cities and all across this country. >> i was reviewing some of your speeches today, and i was really intrigued by an anecdote that i came across. it was from a speech you gave in 2019, and i want to pull this up and have you retell it for our viewers. as we all think about january 20th, president trump coming back in. something happened on his inauguration day in 2016. he went out to the central intelligence agency headquarters. you said the very first day, less than 24 hours after he was inaugurated, and he pledged his support for
10:09 pm
whatever the agency needed to take out abu bakr al-baghdadi and the entire caliphate. so day one, president trump came to the cia and said, let's get isis. >> he inaugurated at noon on a friday. and 10:00 the next morning, he was out at langley, speaking directly to the officers at the agency and telling them, you have the resources you need. let let let director pompeo know, and i'll make sure you have them. and we're going to go crush these bad guys. and we saw that whether it was the strike we took against qasem soleimani to push back against the iranians, or to your point about baghdadi, we were serious about making clear that there would be real costs for those who committed terror against the american people or risked our lives. and that morning, that saturday morning, set the course, frankly, for the entire four years where we were directed by him. and then given the power and the freedom to go execute a series of plans that delivered the very security that we lack today, what we saw as a result, just these last 48
10:10 pm
hours, i feel so badly for these families who lost the loved ones. >> i do too, and i hope that that anecdote takes place again in just a few days. it's really intriguing to hear that, you know, do you fear that isis is in the country now? because when we look, there was that attack in moscow that left 137 dead. they had planned an election day attack. there were individuals from tajikistan connected to isis, eight of which entered our country. do you think isis is walking among us? >> kelly, you need only listen to what director wray said at the fbi a few weeks back, right? he said all the lights are flashing. i fear precisely what we saw play out. we've also seen a couple of hundred folks that are on the terror watch list come across our southern border. we don't have any earthly idea where many of these folks are. yes, i fear not. only are there folks who are members of isis or inspired by isis, as we saw, but there are planners. there are there are plants. there are people who might well be activated. this is the task that president trump and his team will face. they need to go find them all,
10:11 pm
take down these networks, do the solid intelligence collection. right. this is this is hard work. collecting chatter from abroad and things that are taking place inside the country. it is granular grunt work that's got to be done and executed by the federal officials, by local and state sheriffs and police forces. but it needs to be led by the united states of america from the top. and sadly, this administration has failed to do that in ways that i fear will come back to continue to haunt us for months and months and months. kayleigh. >> secretary of state mike pompeo, thank you as always. well, let's bring in former national security adviser robert o'brien. it's an honor to speak with you, ambassador o'brien. you served as national security advisor. when i was working in the trump white house as press secretary, you did an excellent job, and i want our viewers to hear from you directly because as national security adviser, you advise the president to the panoply of national security threats we face and the options before him. and as you look at isis, 1500 to 3000 strong in
10:12 pm
syria, we believe so. they are somewhat decimated in number. do you fear isis today has regrown? is this a threat that you think jake sullivan is looking at as he lays out the options for president biden? >> well, kayleigh, it's great to be with you and thank you for those kind words. keep in mind, you know, the obama biden people called isis the jv team back before president trump came to office, and that jv team killed many americans, including kayla mueller and james foley and peter sotloff and others. so, you know, this is a very dangerous group of people. and we've had a wide open border for four years. we've had not just the terrorists on the watch list that we've caught the thousands and hundreds of thousands of gotaways. so we've got isis. we know for a fact we've got hezbollah here. we've got chinese soldiers here. we've got, you know, you name it, the bad guys central is here in america. and kash patel is and
10:13 pm
stephen miller and the folks who are in charge of homeland security are going to have their hands full when they get into office, because it's time that the fbi stop going after catholic people going to latin mass and, and pta parents going to pta meetings and anti-abortion protesters and january 6th guys, and they've got to go find round up all these isis terrorists, the hezbollah terrorists, the chinese agents. and that's going to be a lot of work. kayleigh. >> it is. and ambassador o'brien, you know, we know that assad was a horrific dictator, killed many, and he's no longer in syria. now you have the rebels that have taken over. but when i read this in the washington post today, i wanted to pull it up for you. you see that isis actually has 9000 individuals in syrian prisons. so as you look at isis and syria in this new regime of rebels, does it concern you that we don't know what's going to happen to these 9000 individuals? >> so this is something that
10:14 pm
concern president trump very much in the first term. and they're being held by our kurdish allies in northern syria. if they if they get released, that's going to be they're going to go into the bloodstream of syria, of iraq, but they're also going to get here to america. and so we've got to make sure we do everything we can to support our syrian kurdish allies and make sure those isis guys stay in jail. and we've got to make sure this new regime of, you know, and we hope they're moderate. they claim they've they've given up their jihadi past. we've got to make sure they keep these isis folks in jail, because if those 9000 terrorists get released, they're going to wreak havoc all over the middle east. but, but, but even here in the homeland, you wrote an excellent article in foreign affairs, and it really kind of sums up the trump doctrine. >> people say, you know, we don't have a few words to sum it up. it's peace through strength. but this really, in long form sums it up. and i want to pull up the headline the return of peace through strength. president trump, along with you, pompeo and others, did it once. how does president trump do this? again? as he stares down china, who says it's time to reunify with
10:15 pm
taiwan? >> well, number one is rebuilding the military and making sure the rules of engagement for our war fighters allow them to defend us. and it's putting a great team, which president trump has done with, with radcliffe and elise stefanik and marco rubio and hegseth. we're going to have a strong team that's going to come in with with a total commitment by president trump to leading from the front, not leading from behind. january. >> ambassador o'brien, thank you very much for joining me. yeah. cannot come fast enough. agree with you there. thank you. as we reported earlier, the attack in new orleans appears to have been carried out by a radical lone wolf attacker who claimed to have pledged allegiance to isis this summer. now, just two days before the attack, a pro-isis outlet called on individuals in the u.s. and europe to commit acts of terror. the time has come to take out the swords from their sheaths and the hamstring, the horses and their places that allah loves and is pleased with. they are
10:16 pm
preparing for the feast of their polytheism, so turn their feast into mourning and their joy into a calamity. this isis group called for, and today the group called for even more violence, telling followers to kill westerners coldly with terror and rage. now, even though trump decimated the caliphate, isis still has influence online, and shamsuddin jabbar is proof that they can still wreak havoc across the world. how can the western world neutralize these threats and stop people from being radicalized online? benjamin hall is a fox news senior correspondent, and he joins me now. you know, ben, a lot of people look at this and say, this guy, if you hear him speak, jabbar seemed entirely normal. he won a medal for the global war on terror. he served in the army, discharged honorably. he had two daughters. how does a guy like this end up killing 14 people? >> yeah. katie, look, it's good to see you today. and look, this takes me right back to 2016, when isis was growing
10:17 pm
strong. again, it's not just their strength on the battlefield and the caliphate they had. it's their strength during their propaganda and their english language propaganda. and we have seen both of those things rise in the last year. 2024 was the year in which isis was given some safe havens to live and to work out of some parts of afghanistan, some parts of syria. and it was also a year in which we started to see their online propaganda rise up again, because they had areas from which they could do this. so there is great concern that if you take what is happening around the world, you see these parts which are, which are not, you know, thriving at the moment. that is where this propaganda will come from. and that's what we believe that jabbar was watching. now we know that he released five pro-isis videos as he was driving towards new orleans, one of which the fbi said he was talking about showing his viewers the disbelievers versus the believers. and so it was very key that he was propagating this isis propaganda. and it is great concern, as we move forward that the ai mustn't be taken off islamic terrorism. we have
10:18 pm
seen it grow not only around the world but also inside the us. when you look at these protests, the pro-hamas protests following october 7th, this is something that will continue to grow. if it wasn't dealt with both inside the middle east as well as online. >> you know, benjamin, that's really interesting because you point to the fact that isis lost all this territory, but they kind of made gains online. and indeed they promised to commit more attacks. it's really chilling when you read the messages we just read. so i mean, if someone sees this, i guess you refer it to social media and then to the fbi. you know, they say, see something, say something. and the new version of that should be looking out for this on social media. is that right? >> it should be. and look, there are groups such as telegram which have pro-isis accounts. they have pro-al qaeda accounts, and they're being shut down as quickly as they can, but they continue to rise up again. and so you shut them down, they come up elsewhere. and i know that the counterterrorism units have a real eye on this, but there are
10:19 pm
communities also that are being founded, and it's about trying to break those communities up, both around the world but also around the us as well. and that's what you've got to be looking for online. and i know that there are groups doing that, but that's something that has to be doubled down on. people have to be looking for that online propaganda and the communities that grow around it. >> it's a huge task. benjamin hall, thank you. well, up next, biden's weak response to the new orleans terrorist attack. >> i love that my daughter still needs me, but sometimes i can't help due to burning and stabbing pain in my hands. so i use nerve. >> i've nerves. clinical dose of ala reduces nerve discomfort in as little as seven days. >> now i can help again feel the difference with nerve. >> does the pain in your arm keep you up at night? does the arm tingle hurt in a car or at the computer? hi, i'm doctor bruce hovanec, but you can call me doctor bruce. i'm an orthopedic spine surgeon with

10:24 pm
with code tv. i could have told you that. i could have told her that. >> after an uninspiring attempt to calm america's anxious nerves from camp david yesterday, joe biden is back at the white house to do really important presidential work. so what exactly was on his agenda today? well, first, he changed
10:25 pm
the name of the pacific remote islands marine national monument to the pacific islands heritage marine national monument. then he released a bunch of photos from oval office meetings with social media influencers. he then took time to present the presidential citizens award to 20 american citizens. recipients included a navy seal turned surgeon who saved countless lives, a vietnam war army nurse, and others who have dedicated their lives to the country. worthy recipients. the only ones who got a standing ovation, though those who went after donald trump, elizabeth l cheney, for putting the american people over party.
10:26 pm
i think the war heroes should have gotten a standing ovation. the president also had time to take a victory lap with democrats celebrating all the judges. he's rammed through congress in his term. but he took a moment to try and project confidence against our adversaries. after yesterday's attacks, people in new orleans are sending an unmistakable message. >> they will not let this attack or the attacks. attackers with a diluted ideology overcome us. none of us should fear that he'll overcome us. we're going to continue to relentlessly pursue isis and other terrorist organizations where they are, and they'll find no safe harbor here. >> sure, the adversaries heard that one loud and clear, except
10:27 pm
america has become all too familiar with these attacks. under joe biden's watch, it's become clear that the president's words ring quite hollow, and no one is taking him seriously. he's been giving the same warning against our enemies again and again. but nothing has changed. >> those who carried out this attack. as well as anyone who wishes america harm, know this. we will not forgive. we will not forget. we will hunt you down and make you pay. i will defend our interests and our people with every measure at my command. >> biden may only have a few weeks left in office, but his disastrous policies will leave america reeling for years to come. we're already seeing the effects in real time. check this out. a new report from axios details how our adversaries in the middle east have only gotten stronger in
10:28 pm
recent years. quote, iran's nuclear program has advanced dramatically during biden's time in office, bringing iran to the status of a de facto nuclear threshold state. wow. and now that half the white house has already boxed up, he's reportedly considering preemptive strikes against iran. now, this is the last thing that america needs, especially if it's president joe biden overseeing them. just remember afghanistan. does he just want to mess with what's left before trump heads into office? that's a real question. former national security adviser to president trump and america first policy institute chairman lieutenant general keith kellogg joins me now. he'll, of course, be in the trump administration in short order. general kellogg, this preemptive strike against iran, apparently, many sources say biden did not greenlight it. they don't expect to attack iranian nuclear sites. but nevertheless, i mean, the fact that it was even discussed
10:29 pm
maybe wait for the professionals to come in. professionals like you, general kellogg. >> well, kelly, thanks for having me tonight. it's good to be with you. before we go, look, i want to send my condolences to those we lost down in new orleans, the dead and the wounded, and also the great first responders who we saw films of the police running towards the gunfire immediately. it was a great example of american heroism at work. look, this is these are just words. nothing's going to happen with iran. they're not going to do anything. this administration won't do anything in the near term. you know, words, as much as weapons do shape history. and what we are seeing, we're seeing a president who talks a lot but doesn't have the will to do anything about it. and it shapes. it shapes history in a negative way. remember, he's the same individual who said when the russians were getting ready to invade. agreed egregiously in a ukraine said, well, maybe a minor incursion will be okay. well, putin's definition of a minor incursion
10:30 pm
is significantly different than mine. but this is also when you think back on what is going to happen on the 20th of january. we are going to get somebody back who is resetting american dominance in the world for the american people, and it's going to be important. you know, i remember when the last state of the union, in february of 2020, when the president stood in the well of the house and he made the comment, if you attack an american, your life is forfeit. and eight months later, we had an american named philip watson, who was a farmer in niger, was kidnaped by bandits, not by terrorists. and we sent seal team six all the way across the atlantic into niger to get philip watson back. we did. we killed all seven bandits. that's when words really do matter. that's when a president's words really matter. and you're going to see that with this reset. and i will call it an american reset that you're going to see on the 20th of january. and then when it comes to the middle east,
10:31 pm
people should understand they are whether you like it or not, you're both going to fear and respect the united states of america, and it's just not going to be in the middle east. it's going to be a globally as well. so the sooner this administration packs its bags and walks out the door on the 20th, i think it's going to be a lot better for america, no doubt. >> and you mentioned the words matter. our adversaries heard the words of president trump. actions matter too. and i mean, this was, as i pointed out, one of the deadliest islamic terrorist attack inspired by isis on our soil. and what did biden do today? he gave that medal to liz cheney. our own brit hume said this. this is repulsive, that investigation, speaking of the j6 committee, was done by a committee, all of whose members were chosen by nancy pelosi, was produced like a tv show. there was no cross examination of witnesses. the media fell for it, but it was utterly one sided, a show trial. so why today? i mean, our adversaries are watching general kellogg. does biden do this instead of addressing the american people? put out a picture from the situation room, show that you're engaged.
10:32 pm
i think that's what president trump would have done. >> yeah, kayleigh, but what you're seeing right now is basically our allies and our adversaries as well. they've kind of written this administration off, and you can see that with the respect that president trump is getting from allies and adversaries as well. look, when he went to notre dame in paris on the when they, you know, reopened it. look, with the reception that he got, it was an incredible reception. the world's leaders said, okay, this is the new american president now, he can't take over the presidency until the 20th of january. but people are already understanding and respecting who he's going to be when 20th january comes. and i think that's good for america. it's good for, you know, not only the future of america, but what america stands for. back in the day in the roman empire, if you were civis romanus, a citizen of rome, you strode the world without fear. that's going to come back. and when you are civis americanus, it's going to be the same way with president trump. starting on 20th june.
10:33 pm
>> well, we cannot wait for the professionals to come in. professionals like you, general kellogg, alongside president trump, a commander in chief. that means business. thank you. thank. well, will democrats let trump secure our country from terrorists? straight ahead. >> be on your best behavior, right? like child protective services is coming for a visit. >> zing zing zing zing. >> it's really good. keep the glass. >> happiest place. check your local listings. >> i'm yael eckstein of the international fellowship of christians and jews. and this hanukkah holiday is of urgent importance. this is our last chance to help thousands of holocaust survivors who are suffering today. >> have you eaten this morning? >> i ate the carrot, so i ate half of it yesterday. and this is what she ate in two days.

10:39 pm
be confirmed as soon as possible. incoming majority leader john thune said, quote, the threat posed by isis will outlast this administration, and this is a clear example of why the senate must get trump's president trump's national security team in place as quickly as possible. there's no time to waste, and senate majority whip john barrasso said that the u.s. senate must confirm president trump's national security team as soon as possible because lives depend on it. pete hegseth confirmation hearing is set to start on january 14th. tulsi is scheduled for that very same week. kash patel might not get his shot until january or february rather, but it's going to be an uphill battle no matter what. democrats have made it clear they do not want to see our military and our intelligence agencies reformed. they think the status quo is working, but clearly it is not. oklahoma senator markwayne mullin joins me now. senator mullin, great to have you. you tweeted that the u.s. senate
10:40 pm
must confirm president trump's national security picks as soon as possible. how soon do you think this can get done? >> well, kelly, we're going to we're going to get started on it right away. pete hegseth. actual first hearing is this this coming ninth, which is a week from today. we will we'll start having those hearings and then we'll move to the confirmation hearing, which will be the final vote, and then hopefully get them on the floor. what's aggravating to me is these same democrats that are sitting there complaining, saying that this, these cabinet picks and these director picks are not qualified, are the same people that that literally put in beat buttigieg over the over secretary of transportation. and his only qualification was to be mayor. and then they put rachel, who is an assistant secretary inside the hhs, who it can't figure out what pronouns mean. and these are the same people that put sam in place, the one that was picking up, picking up luggage off the carousel not once but twice,
10:41 pm
and was arrested for it. these are the same people that confirmed these. these people, these democrats are the ones that confirmed those individuals. and they're saying that that tulsi gabbard, who is a lieutenant colonel in the united states army right now, isn't qualified. kash patel, who literally was a whistleblower that exposed the fbi for their hypocrisy and for the for the attacks that they had on, on, on on president trump with the dulce report and then going after him with, with the false reports when it starts coming to how the those reports were formed, he was the one that blew the whistle on the fbi and said they're politicized and they've been they they've been weaponized against president trump. and then you start looking at pete hegseth, who come on, the austin secretary. austin, who was a general, has done a horrible job running the military. you've seen that our numbers are low. the only reason why they're even hitting recruiting numbers right now is
10:42 pm
because he's lowered the threshold for the numbers that they're supposed to bring in. and you have pete hegseth, who served 20 years in the military, highly decorated combat veteran, and he's more than qualified to do his job. and you're saying, okay, this administration is working, and so you're going to keep president trump from putting his administration in the world wants change. america wants change. and we need to confirm president trump's cabinet picks and director picks as soon as possible. >> i'm so glad you brought this up. we only have a few seconds here, but i just want to show our viewers this. lloyd austin got confirmed with 48 republicans. alejandro mayorkas got six republicans. anthony blinken got 28 republicans. my gosh, how did they get these republicans? and it's time for republicans to grow a backbone after you voted for guys like this. >> right. well, republicans need to stand together and the democrats need to put america first. just like just like republicans try to put america
10:43 pm
first, too. but at the same time, we're fighting an incompetent president that's currently still in the white house. if people know that president trump is competent and we need to put these people in office as soon as possible, and democrats need to start putting their party in the back pocket and put america first. >> love that. yeah. let's see if that many democrats come over and vote for the trump nominees. i'm not holding my breath, but hey, here's for hoping. thank you, senator mullen. well, well. up next, democrats finally admit they were wrong about just about everything. >> i used to think we could see heaven from masada, but all i saw were the gates of hell. make those jews drink the blood of their children. we did not care what price we had to pay for our freedom. i want to be a warrior. >> there'll be no retreat from masada. >> we believed god was on the side of the innocent.

10:49 pm
>> the border was not biden's finest moment, frankly. you can see what happened here. and trump is not wrong when he talks about how border crossings were quite low. they were running about 74,000 a month when he left office, and they, in fact did shoot up. some of it was some things biden said, and some ways that they put a moratorium, for example, on deportations. but in fact, we did get up here almost to 300,000 a month. >> and the ragin cajun is reflecting on all the ways that his party failed in 2024. james carville writing, quote, i keep coming back to the same thing we lost for one very simple reason. it was, it is. and it always will be. the economy, stupid. we have to begin 2025 with that truth as our political north star, and not get distracted by anything else. to democratic presidential hopefuls, your auditions for 2028 should be based on two things. number one, how authentic you are on the economy, and number two, how well you deliver it on a

podcast. virginia lieutenant governor winsome sears joins me now. lieutenant governor, always a pleasure to speak with you. let's start with the border. it seems like cable news hosts are waking up to the reality that our border is porous. but you and the governor in virginia, governor youngkin, figured this out long ago. >> well, i'd like to tell you, kaylee, that actually, the news media has always known that the border was porous. we they saw it with their own eyes, and they knew we saw it, too. and they kept telling us, don't believe what you're seeing. and so when you can't keep continuing with the same fake news, then, well, the people understood that we needed change. we were being lied to. we were not safe. people were coming across our borders here in virginia. we had to deal with the same very thing we have had just recently, an illegal immigrant who had abducted someone with the intent to rape and had a long rap sheet. we had another illegal immigrant who committed murder. and so people decided,
10:51 pm
we've got to change things. this is not working. if we're seeing this with our own eyes and they're telling us, no, don't believe your eyes, then what else are they not telling us that's happening? really? behind the walls. >> great question. you know, lieutenant governor, all eyes are going to be on you next year. there are only two races. they're big ones. it's new jersey governor's race. and then your governor's race there in virginia. and, you know, i wanted to see what you make of the advice given by james carville about being good on a podcast and being authentic about the economy, their strategizing right now about how to beat you should you become the nominee. >> well, it's common sense all over again, isn't it? it's always been common sense. voters are not stupid. how much of my money that i make, it's so hard for me to make. do i get to keep. and what about my education of my children? can i finally decide where to send them to school? or am i stuck in a in a zip code of a school that is failing them? and then
10:52 pm
when it comes to, well, safety and security again, it's how are we handling our local law enforcement? you know, are we creating situations where the morale is low and so nobody wants to be in law enforcement, and how are we going to be protected? so it's all of that, and we have done such a wonderful job here in virginia. there are poll numbers are up, and even my opponent, my presumptive opponent, the congresswoman, she's beginning to run on our outstanding record of achievement. so is she republican lite or is she democrat hard? i mean, you know, when you've done a good job and the people appreciate it, everybody wants that to continue. so why would we change teams now? we're not going to isn't that interesting when your democrat opponent tries to take your accomplishments. >> you've done a wonderful job there with governor youngkin and we will all be watching you. lieutenant governor winsome sears, thank you. more prime time ahead. to.

gone. same for drew duffin, 2023 auburn grad. he graduated in 2023. he's a systems engineer who worked at honda. his life cut tragically short. same can be said for reggie hunter, 37 years old. awful. what happened to that young man as well? he had just gotten off work and headed over to bourbon street to ring in the new year on a whim. and how about hubert gouthro, 21 years old and apparently an alum of archbishop shaw high school, again had his whole life ahead of him tragically cut short. it's been a somber day in the crescent city, with city leaders and faith leaders holding private ceremonies on bourbon street. there was also a second line for the victims. and if you don't know that, what that means, that's a celebration that's traditionally used in the culture down in new orleans. meantime, over at the sugar bowl tonight, tens of thousands in attendance observed a moment of silence to honor the victims and all those impacted by
