us? >> good morning. we are cold, to say the least. we are sitting at 15 degrees with strong wind. it feels like 1 degree out here and i'm surrounded by snow. we havic approximated up at kansas city international airport, 11 inches of snow, fourth place spot ever on record. most we've ever seen in kansas city was 16 inches in 2012. t topeka picked up 14 inches. we had ice totals ranging from quarter to half an inch doing damage to trees and power lines and folks are waking up without power.

kansas just shy of 500 people without power. but in missouri, 33,000 are without power. this is a long road to get power restored. area schools are closed and bus businesses because of the fact snow is covering all of the ground. this video was shot in missouri on sunday. most roads are snow covered, but passable. we do have some trouble some spots, they are working to clear the roads. in kansas city, i grew up south of here, i myself can't think of a time we picked up a foot of snow. on average in january, we see four to five inches total. this has been pretty exciting.
