>> what a beautiful bill, president-elect donald trump and making it clear he wants republicans to pass one massive bill covering tax cuts, the border, energy, and defense. but with slim margins in the house can republicans get it done? coming up we will speak to south carolina republican congresswoman nancy mace. welcome everybody i'm sandra smith this is "your world". she is the very latest on capitol hill for us. what exactly are relearning? >> at present president trump's we jiggled in taking charge he wants to be the dealmaker so he is personally getting involved in making sure that his legislative agenda gets through. fox has learned that trump has invited some key house republicans over to mar-a-lago later on this weekend he wants to talk to them about a number of different initiatives that includes extending those 2017 tax cuts, no taxes on tips, border security, and security -- energy security, and the debt ceiling.

members are very fiscally conservative they want to cut the deficit. you will meet with lawmakers from states like -- states like new york or tax breaks are a very big deal. trump sets his preference is putting it all into one big beautiful bill is c puts it but he is open to splitting it into two. >> my preferences, as i say, one big beautiful bill. to do that is longer to submit it takes longer actually. it is a longer process i would say to ad lib. with that. i believe we would get, i don't know, to me it is cleaner, it is cleaner, it is nicer. >> republicans have not quite decided what they are going to do because some republicans especially in the senate fear that one monstrous package will cause delays in risk national security legislation. >> i think it is a risk if you are right taxcutting person want to understand and you're holding the bill hostage i think that is a

dangerous thing. >> the trump transition is also, sandra, urging to pick up the pace urging congress to move quickly on confirming his nominations especially those national security folks. they want that to get done pointing to what happened to new orleans in las vegas last week. to a numbers game. house speaker mike johnson. when it comes to one big, beautiful bill or the republicans pushing for a two bill plan what you sent to go the numbers for that? >> remember they have a limited majority we saw what happened last week with house speaker mike johnson that can only afford to lose one. at one point they lost three. it kind of upended the entire process until the president-elect got on the phone and made it happen. again they cannot afford to lose really anybody they have to get everybody on board and there are a lot of fiscally conservative republicans that want to

make sure there are offset sent this. if you were going to extend tax cuts how will you pay for it? these are questions the president will have to answer. he is going to do tariffs earlier today in a truth social post but these are all conversations he will love personally. he is changing -- taking charge and theirs not just leaving it to house speaker mike johnson personally in writing these folks to his home to talk about this. >> sandra: that moment you referenced with nancy mace you got president-elect on the phone to flip at least at least two of those republican votes on the span 30 minutes we will ask mace about that and just a moment when she joins us. this certification of the president election is front and center. >> good afternoon it was the final step towards electing a president from 2024. the 12th amendment to the constitution dictates that the vice president preside over a joint session of congress which certifies that the electoral college results. that meant vice president harris

trump agenda and that massive bill? house republicans are hoping to pass with the slimmest of majorities. with us south carolina republican congresswoman nancy mace thank you for joining us. i reference that moment on friday where you were able to get the president-elect to the best of our understanding on the phone to then talk with those, at least two of the three republican holdouts, to what appeared to eventually switch their votes. what was the discussion there and what was the flipping of their votes flip -- hinging on? >> i want to be very clear donald trump got it done for the country on friday like he always does along with speaker johnson. i just took my small part of the patriot and help facilitate her final phone call between the president on the speaker of the house and

the last two holdouts because her country was counting on it. we need to make sure we got it done on the first round to ensure we did not get in front of obstruct donald trump's american first agenda. i felt no more prouder to be an american that i did on that afternoon a great achievement for donald trump and the speaker quite frankly. >> sandra: but there were two holdouts and you needed -- three holdouts and he needed to flip two of them. as far as the slim majority, what is in mean forgetting donald trump's agenda done? >> it is going to be historic it will also be very challenging because we cannot lose a single vote. as ronald reagan has said over and over when he was president if we can get to 80% of the things than we have to get this country moving forward. make life affordable for every hardworking family, secure the border, to for the illegals here, especially kibitzing violent crimes like and murder and get those worst people out of there. no time to waste to soonest on a chunk it in january 28th.

>> sandra: to be clear what was here take away from her friend and folded? was that howe thinks that with the republican colleagues are was that perhaps more disagreement with your party than you anticipated? >> i think obviously like everything else we have different factions within our own party and sometimes every voice needs to be heard, everybody needs to have a position and feel like they have participated in this historic moment. there is an agent or we have to make good on as donald trump's agenda. also there are folks worried about spending all valid concerns. but friday was not the time to obstruct trump's achievements with the greatest, most popular, most historic vented in american history when he got elected on november fifth. front and at the time to have that fight. large reconciliation package a place where everybody should have a say and that their voice in it. we have to get to 75, 80% and move this country forward or we will be stuck in four

roads have been compromised many different accidents. get this airports on the path of this winter storm to kick off nearly 19,000 flights are either delayed or canceled. think about that we are not even done yet. the system is still affecting d.c., philly, and other areas. hundreds of thousands of customers still out of power across multiple states especially on that snow ice lying to the south of where i'm at. even south of louisville in the state of kentucky where that weight of the ice has pulled down some of those lines unfortunately. unfortunately six people have lost their lives including one child as situations in kansas and missouri became too intense on those runways. blizzard conditions yesterday in kc that shut down the airport and snarled roads. most snow in over 15

town. we set pretty much do you think eddie gauld and most people started to wait at their hotels or their homes and stay away from the airport. the only flights we saw cutting out at least early afternoon helps like atlanta, minneapolis, and to treat. however, most passengers told us they felt like it was not as bad as it could have been at they simply said you will have to wait to find out when they reach their final destination. >> sometimes not much you can do. i think safety comes first. >> going to new york and of course it is freezing there with a lot of snow. >> you seem like you're used to the snow you don't seem like you were to use to it. >> we came from australia so definitely not used to the snow. >> passengers were hard to find this morning we saw plenty of airport worker spent the call of their day trying to clear up as much of the tarmac as they could. some airport facilities retail shops and lounges

over a foot of snow. half snow across the plains. the system is gone further to the east. numbers a little bit lower but still really impressive as you run up along the east coast. probably a little bit more inches of snow. power outages continuing to come down to. this will be tough because there was really cold air back behind this. where is the snow still falling? seeing kind of patchy snow at this point up and down the east coast. a little bit more certificated portions of pennsylvania. that will ultimately have to drag up along the east coast to the first half of the overnight hours. temperatures still very cold and will stay cold. how much more snow is on the way? some lighter blue in the high end will be 3 inches. a lot will be 1 inch or less. it is windy and it is cold to back behind which does make things tough. you see the next couple

details about the suspect dentist plants. to fox garrett penny he is in new orleans and he has the latest on that investigation for us. >> looking into shamsud-din jabbar travel history to get a better idea of how and when he might have been radicalized in two trips they are looking at is a weeklong visit the u.s. army veteran made to cairo, egypt in june of 2023 and then a three-day trip to ontario, canada he made a week later. we have also learned that jabbar made at least two trips to new orleans late last year. the fbi say he recorded these videos wearing? to smart glasses while riding a bike through the french quarter and then down bourbon street where he killed 14 people last week. investigators believe jabbar and tempted to take far more lives than that. these surveillance videos show jabbar early wednesday morning walking through crowds and the french quarter with two coolers that had ieds inside which officials say he planted -- planned to detonate.

>> the devices did have receivers attached to them with explosive material. it was a transmitter that was recovered inside of jabbar's vehicle. so we believe that the transmitter would have functioned and would have worked. but for new orleans pd putting him down before he could access to that transmitter and set off the devices. >> there was growing criticism of city officials for ignoring warning signs they have had for years about bourbon street being vulnerable to this kind of attack. today the state attorney general ordered an investigation into the security plans the city had at the state is now pushing to take on a larger role in the planning and preparation. >> sandra: former fbi agent director and what he makes a fall of these new revelations. the travel obviously this will stand out to the investigators.

the trip to egypt in june of 2023. and then a week later ontario, canada. do you believe they will be able to conclude anything from these travels and where exactly he may have been radicalized? >> ontario and then back to he also traveled to tampa. you have to wonder was he radicalized or what state of radicalization was he in who did he meet with? was he directed at? i don't think there's a big difference between directed and inspired because the impact of still the same. and most of the isis attacks in the united states including the nightclub which killed 49 people are were inspired so isis is reaching out with its long arms of the fact that he traveled to egypt i think is very interesting and a little bit premature for the

fbi to say that he was not directed by isis at this point. i think there is more to learn. >> sandra: i will ask about another aspect of what we have learned capturing sort of the scene where he eventually committed this heinous crime and kill these 14 people. he appeared to were these meta smart glasses while riding through the french quarter and we have no video of that as part of this investigation. can you tell us a little bit about that and why somebody was planning an attack like this may have done that prior to committing get? >> isis has a fairly grisly history posting, video inc. and posting gruesome acts of beheadings and terrorist attacks and killings. we have seen this over the years. they were at that full stage of radicalization not only had to cross

the divide if i'm going to go people and willing to kill myself but i want the world to know what i want the world to see it as i kill these innocent people. by rational minds can't get around that but that is a facet of international terrorism that is part of the playbook if you will. >> sandra: to be sure, chris, you believe he was doing this back october 31st taking this video of the streets of new orleans to discover afterward to do see this as part of his plan inc. and scoping out the area. where he was going to commit the attack of? >> i think it was part of his planning and scoping but he had the glasses in his truck. let's account for the possibility of these to allow for the possibility he was going to try to video live the offense and probably cannot forgot how to do we do. >> sandra: yes. >> otherwise even if it was just for planning purposes in the playbook as well...

u.s. capitol rotunda. sandra? >> sandra: jonathan live there in atlanta for us. now this. >> while we mourn my grandfather's passing i know in my heart, you all do, that his legacy will live on. >> sandra: justin carter eulogizing his late grandfather at the carter center on saturday. he joins us now. welcomed jason thank you for joining us. >> thank you for having me. >> sandra: obviously emotional time and moment there for you. what do you believe your grandfather's legacy will ultimately be? >> i think it is a legacy off there is an american story there has they just mentioned he was a peanut farmer from a tiny 600 person village. team self torture. he became president of the united states. what he did to after that as he went back onto that same little town. i think there legacy really is a legacy of putting their faith into action and never forgetting who they were. the remarkable things

that come from that you know. >> sandra: indeed. jason, of course you can share stories that so many camps being obviously his grandson. i know we have some pictures that we have on the screen here. we know him obviously in a much more public way. what which you want to share with us and our audience about what he may have been like were privately? >> a couple things. number 1 obviously he was a remarkable person to the world to. but for us more than anything he was just a grandfather. he took us fishing hunting was able because he lived to be 100 to do that with my two little boys. and my boys who are now 16 and 18 had a great relationship with him. they were able to go from there atlanta public schools down to plains, georgia and get out in the fields and learn about road crops and how to shoot guns and everything else they do in the country. i think it is a real grandfatherly position that he got to have with

all of us and luckily my children. >> sandra: a fascinating life when you look back on this the u.s. president we all know nobel peace price -- prize winner. incredible life and legacy. what do you think your grandfather would want to be best known for after his passing? >> i think he wants to be known as a peacemaker. a somebody who promotes human rights, love for freedom, that american ideal of democracy and equality and the idea that those values that our country have aren't the most powerful things about this nation. i think he really devoted his life about bringing that democratic ideal and human rights to the world. i think it is that prolific got his faith. i think he connected those things fundamentally. i think that is what he would want to be known for. at these last few days i think that is when he is

going to be known for. >> sandra: we have obviously seen some incredible change in the white house in recent years in recent decades. please to share with us any of his thoughts he was able to share with his family has we did see great change in this country. >> i think if you look back at the hundred years my grandfather lived it is enormous progress in terms of you know racial discrimination in terms of health and expanding the pie economically to expand to human rights for many people. i think it has been an incredible renter. right now there is always been politics in one of the great things that i think of in these last few days is that no matter what your politics you know so many people have come up to us and express this idea that democrat and republican they have respect for the human being that my grandfather was. and we have appreciated that and i think it is

republicans control the white house, the senate, and the house. they won't understand if they can't get something done very quickly. president trump wants one bill. as he said, he is open to may be doing doing 2. i don't think it matters. i think we will find out which has more support. >> sandra: did what played out on friday with the reelection of the house speaker and of the divide with some republicans tell you anything about how this may go? >> a little bit. that's a good question. it speaks to the trump transition starting to understand just how difficult my math is going to be. they saw that they had to press to make sure that johnson was elected speaker. that is an indication that i'm not using this metaphor because it is snowing outside. it's going to be tough sledding. it's gonna be difficult to get this to the house of representatives.

trump's team recognizes that. the senate will be easier, because your margins are padded more. that is the basic dynamic. i think one other point on the timeline on this. if you do one bill, it's going to get pushed. i'm not telling anyone to cancel their july 4th plans. it will get pushed for later on in the summer and get more complicated. more things will get added on. my own plan is to not book in august vacation or at least early august. >> sandra: for anyone who is looking out that far, that could be quite a warning. i want to ask you guys about this site today. kamala harris overseeing the trump election victory before a joint session of congress. we have not seen this, we should note, since of course al gore presided over the election of g.w. bush. bell, how would you describe that scene? we saw a play earlier live on capitol hill. >> there were cheers both by
