angeles. multiple wildfires are still burning around l.a. county, and the situation could soon get worse with the unexpected return of strong winds. one of the latest to erupt is the kenneth fire, which burned nearly a thousand acres in just a few hours. that fire is burning on the border of l.a. and ventura counties north of los angeles. the california wildfires are now blamed for the deaths of at least ten people. but as rescue crews searched through the rubble, that number is expected to grow. the fires have consumed more than 27,000 acres and destroyed over 10,000 buildings, most of them homes. in some areas. entire neighborhoods have been wiped out. to make things worse, the l.a. fire department has now confirmed that one of the two essential super scooper aircraft has been damaged. it was struck thursday by a civilian drone, but in a sliver of good news, the california national guard has arrived. they arrived last night. they'll help local police and firefighters stop both looting and fight the fires. the

palisades fire is the most destructive l.a. fire ever. it's caused unimaginable damage, including in malibu, where fox news correspondent jeff paul is standing by. jeff? >> well, yeah. marianne. there is a light breeze tonight, but nothing compared to the very strong wind gusts that we experienced last night and the night before. and i have to say, the biggest news, i think for the folks out here who are fighting the palisades fighter fire is the fact that this fire is now 6% contained. and they're hoping that number just keeps going up and up and up. but the devastation from this wildfire is far and wide. we're right here along pch in malibu. that's the pacific ocean off there in the distance. and this was someone's dream home right there on the beach. perfect ocean views and has now been reduced to just charred pieces of wood ash. you can see this was the driveway and the garage door that's just been mangled

by this fire. responders. >> and i think we just lost jeff right there. but he was just describing the scene where he is in malibu. he's saying that the winds have not picked up there, but they are expected to pick up possibly tomorrow, by tomorrow afternoon. and we wanted to go ahead and report the la fire department now confirming that one of their two essential super scooper aircraft has been damaged. that's one of the planes that's involved in dropping water on the flames and trying to get them out. jeff was able to tell us earlier that he can no longer see flames in the distance, like he has been able to see for the last few hours, taking that as as a positive sign as well. and a sliver of good news in all of this. the california national guard has arrived to help out and to assist law enforcement and first responders and all of those firefighters trying to
