11:00 pm
eagles tailgate on sunday at the linc. so please, philly fans, be on your best behavior. also update emily won the tiebreaker. good for her. let's do some texts. sherri from pleasant grove, utah. do you think you can get tony to do that? devils come out. move on. newsome. giuliana from abilene, texas. i'm ordering my pizza tonight with pineapple and delta smelt. you'd be the first person to ever eat the delta smelt stolen from tennessee. mark zuckerberg looked like a narc at the skate park. you mean the cabbage and the necklace fools you. eddie from san jose. did johnny ever make it back from canada? unfortunately he did. open borders, baby. i'm watters, and this is my world. and welcome
11:01 pm
to hannity. and tonight in los angeles, it is in ruins. mayor karen bass, now facing calls to resign. governor gavin newsom passing the blame. florida governor ron desantis. >> he is blasting the media mob for not holding democrats accountable. imagine for a second what their response would be if this happened in my free state of florida. we'll have a lot more coming up. also, we will ask our democratic friend from the five, harold ford jr, to defend the party's terrible policies, failed leadership, high taxes and lack of services. but we begin with good news tonight, against all odds, after years of sketchy warrants, subpoenas, early morning raids, dozens of cooked up charges, one after another, far left judges and trump hating juries. donald trump has eviscerated the left's lawfare campaign. today, new york judge democratic donor juan merchan announced that trump would receive no jail time, no fine, no probation
11:02 pm
after a manhattan jury convicted trump on what is a novel, bizarre legal theory surrounding a case that had no victims. i mean, it was a legal nda put together by a lawyer, and it was chronicled as a legal expense. judge merchan told trump, sir, i wish you godspeed as you assume your second term in office. it was almost laughable. but despite no penalty at all, donald trump will rightly appeal the bogus conviction. at his sentencing, the president elect blasting the left their attempts to weaponize our system of justice. take a look. >> this has been a very terrible experience. i think it's been a tremendous setback for new york and the new york court system. this is a case that alvin bragg did not want to bring, and he thought it was from what i read and from what i hear, that inappropriately handled before he got there, a
11:03 pm
gentleman from a law firm came in and acted as a district attorney. and that gentleman, from what i heard, was a criminal or almost criminal in what he did. it was very inappropriate. it was a somebody involved with my political opponent. i think about legal expenses are down as legal expenses. and i get indicted for business records. everybody should be so accurate. it's been a political witch hunt. it was done to damage my reputation so that i would lose the election. and obviously that didn't work. and the people of our country got to see this firsthand because they watched the case in your courtroom. they got to see this firsthand. and then they voted, and i won and got the largest number of votes by far, of any republican candidate in history and won, as you know, all seven swing states won conclusively. all seven swing states and won
11:04 pm
the popularity, the popular vote by millions and millions of votes. and they've been watching your trial. so they understood it. with all that's happening in our country today, with a city that's burning to the ground, one of our largest, most important cities, burning to the ground with with wars that are uncontrollably going on with all of the problems of inflation and the attacks on countries and all of the horrible things that are going on. i got indicted over calling a legal expense, a legal expense, and the people of this country understand what's gone on. this has been a weaponization of government. they call it lawfare. never happened to any extent like this, but never happened in our country before. and i'd just like to explain that i was treated very, very unfairly. and i thank you very much. >> all right. trump hating democrats, they tried to throw the former president in prison. they wanted to send him to rikers island. they wanted to
11:05 pm
ruin his life. they did try to destroy his reputation, all in order to block him from winning an election. this is a massive scandal, one of the biggest in modern american history. and the media. they're perfectly fine with it. these democrats utterly failed. and now it's time for a reckoning at the doj. the fbi and the clown shows that are going on in atlanta and new york. now, i don't mean that republicans should follow suit. no, they should end the weaponization of justice. they should adhere to equal justice and application of our laws. return to constitutional order. they shouldn't do to them, and they're scared to death that that would happen, that which was done to donald trump. the left tried to turn our courts, the fbi, our intelligence community into a soviet style political enforcement arm of the democratic party. thankfully, that will end in, what, 12 days? whatever it is on january 20th, if you are a
11:06 pm
democrat and you're watching tonight, pay close attention. in this country, crimes get prosecuted, not people in this country. justice is supposed to be blind. we're supposed to have equal justice under the law without political bias. far left bureaucrats that live in d.c. do not get to anoint our leaders and make our laws. and american presidents are supposed to lead and not take orders in between their naps from a, you know, group of unelected, overeducated socialists that have an agenda. this is a democratic republic. it must remain one. it's supposed to be by, of, and for the people. and our rights are enshrined by a creator, not the thing, joe. anyway, the left tried to criminalize donald trump's free expression in the whole process, block his right to participate in our elections. and in the process, they ended up putting donald trump and his supporters through hell. this can never
11:07 pm
happen again. the pompous, far left bureaucrats long entrenched in that washington swamp. when donald trump gets in, i hope he fires them all, flushes them all out so that freedom equal justice. the rule of law, constitutional order will be restored. and just what, ten days this important work will officially begin and not a moment too soon. here to unpack all of this and reaction to all of this. counselor to the president, alina habba is with us. alina, you were there almost from the beginning. even on fake news, cnn, they acknowledged donald trump beat them. and there were times, if you go back six, eight months ago, there were times we had no idea how this was going to play out. but the fact that they took it this far is what should scare everybody. >> well, fear no more in ten days. i am so proud to be going right back to where he belongs. and we got him where he needed to be, which is in the white
11:08 pm
house, so that this can end and this doesn't need to end. it ended for president trump today. >> it's done. now we will appeal it. we will unveil what happened. we will unveil the sham. we will talk about how the corruption has permeated our justice system. i've been speaking with you ad nauseam about that for nearly four years now, but i can say that now we have our chance to fix it, and it's for america. and maybe president trump had to go through this and be the victim of this, because he is the only one that could truly fix it and get america's attention about the corruption. and now we get to work. sean, i am so excited for the next ten days until we are there. we will be working so hard. we already are. and president trump today he was think about this man. he was sitting there being sentenced, being sentenced for a crime he did not do for a crime that da brag da cy vance passed on a crime that was directed and dictated by a corrupt political system and administration. and what did he talk about? he talked about the fires in california where many people
11:09 pm
are suffering. he talked. he thanked the judge at the end, he said, thank you. and he was stoic. and that is the man that will lead this country, fix this judicial system and lead every administrative department into what america used to know what america was. and i cannot wait. and i know the american people can't wait. and that was clear on november 5th. >> now, the statute of limitations in this case had run out. and alvin bragg came up with this novel legal theory, and we had a legal nda put together by a lawyer labeled as an nda. so i have a hard time understanding how this became on a local state level, what it would be a federal issue. wouldn't that fall under the supremacy clause? >> first of all, you're trying to do something called mental gymnastics, and the reason you can't understand it is because it's unthinkable. it is not founded in any law. we even had decisions about immunity. yet there were witnesses allowed to come in and testify about
11:10 pm
things that happened outside the oval office. president trump was not even there. this was a trump administration person in accounting plugging away on quickbooks who labeled a legal expense as a legal expense. and somehow our president, our former president and our future president was attacked by a man who put a gag order on him because he didn't want anyone to know the discrepancies of his family or anybody else. and that is a disgrace. you can't figure this out because the statute of limitations, of course they ran. so did they with letitia james. and just yesterday we had judge engoron pulled off our case. it went unnoticed, but the attorneys noticed. and then four hours later, we got notice that engoron was put back on. and i will tell you something, sean, in ten days we will look at what happened, we will investigate and we will make sure nobody is persecuted and prosecuted because of their political affiliation in this country. >> well, i hope it stays that way. but look at look at all that he'd gone through. and we covered all of it on this program. i mean, for three long
11:11 pm
years, you had democrats, you had the state run media mob peddling a lie, a conspiracy theory about a russia hoax, and donald trump at the ritz hotel and urine in a bed. none of it was ever true. it was all based on a on a russian disinformation dossier bought and paid for by hillary clinton. you had the double standard hillary clinton. she didn't have presidential immunity like donald trump, nor did joe biden. they both had top secret classified information in their possession that they shouldn't have. there was no raid of their homes or their offices. the idea that hillary took 33,000 subpoenaed emails, deleted them with bleachbit, destroyed devices with hammers, removed sim cards. nothing happened. you know, before the 2020 election, 51 former intel officials the fbi had had authenticated the laptop of hunter biden in march of 2020, and they were prebunking it to every big tech
11:12 pm
company in the country. and then 51 former intel officials that knew nothing about the laptop. you know, you know, went out publicly before a debate and said it has all the fingerprints of russian disinformation. they knew nothing about that laptop. how do you clean out the basement? how do you restore the doj, the fbi, the intelligence communities to their former glory and greatness? >> you have to clean and by cleaning you remove. you cannot continue with the toxicity because it all came from the top. these people were involved. there's no question of it. sean, you bring up hillary clinton. one of my first cases for president trump was when we sued hillary clinton, when we went after her for the russia hoax. and do you know what happened? we never met that judge. not once. we never appeared in front of that judge, not once. we were sanctioned $1 million. that's another hoax. there are hoaxes upon hoaxes. and until we go through these departments with the amazing leadership that he has picked pete hegseth, kash patel, pam bondi, i could go on
11:13 pm
and on and on. these people are going to be avengers in the white house and not in a bad way. avengers fighting for america and making sure that we get back on track. and these are the people president trump picked for a reason. they are disrupters in a good way, because this country is backwards right now. unfortunately it is. i am a proud american. god knows it. but i am not proud of what i've seen in the past three and a half years. and that's why i've even stepped away from law to go in and help save this country, because we need strong leadership, and that is president donald trump. and america saw what happened. sean. it's a blessing in disguise, i tell you. they i should thank them because they are going to allow us to get back in and to get rid of all of them. >> that that in and of itself will be a great gift to the country. elena, thank you for your hard work. congratulations. this has been a heavy lift the whole way. we appreciate you being being with us. all right. joining us now with more fox news contributor gregg jarrett, harvard law professor alan dershowitz. one thing i forgot in my laundry list there, gregg, was, you
11:14 pm
know, using the dirty russian disinformation dossier for not one but four fisa warrants to spy on candidate trump later, president trump. that went on for a full year. but when you look at it all together and then you look at what happened today, i'm 99.999% certain this will get thrown out. but what is your reaction to all of it? big picture. >> oh, this case will not stand up on appeal. it will get tossed out, the conviction reversed. >> and you know, you saw this today, this orwellian theater of the absurd, with the prosecutor condemning trump and using the kind of language that's normally referred to hardened criminals or serial killers, not somebody who is convicted of a bookkeeping error. >> and then the da threw his own little pity party in court because trump accused him of lawfare, and he whined how they were being attacked for enforcing the rule of law. now,
11:15 pm
what they did was they abused the law. they distorted statutes. they shredded trump's due process rights. this was the most abominable and oppressive act of lawless abuse by a prosecutor and a judge that i have ever seen. it was shameful. it was disgusting. and so trump was right when he told russia today this was a political witch hunt to damage his election chances. and by the way, that is a crime. 18 u.s.c. 241 and 242 conspiracy against rights, deprivation of rights under color of law. you are not allowed to conspire with others to injure someone's constitutional rights. that is a felony. and i think it's imperative for the incoming department of justice to launch a comprehensive investigation into this, because i think there was a lot of collusion
11:16 pm
going on between these lawfare prosecutors. >> i'd like to get to the bottom of that big picture. everything that happened today, professor, and all that has gone on since the day this man came down that escalator at trump tower. >> well, first, i want to thank you for urging republicans not to sink to the level of what the democrats did and to use only the law and the constitution. >> nobody is above the law, but nobody should be prosecuted just because of who they are. so thank you, sean, because you carry an enormous amount of weight with the republicans. and this is so important. what we saw today was a scam, a ploy. it started with judge marchand telling in advance what his sentence was going to be. i've been doing this for 62 years. i've never been told by a judge what the sentence is going to be. when i go into the courtroom with my client, i tell him to bring his toothbrush because he doesn't know whether he's going home or going to rikers or some other
11:17 pm
lockup. the only reason, marchand said in advance what he was going to do is to try to persuade the two justices of the supreme court not to take the case now, and they use that fact. and they said, the reason we're not taking the case now and stopping the sentencing from going forward was because the judge said in advance that he's not sentencing him to prison. so this was a ploy. and the two justices unfortunately fell for the ploy. this is the worst thing that's happened to the american criminal justice system since mccarthyism and the civil rights abuses back in the 1950s, and the victims of the american people. trump. yes, it was hard. he said very honestly that it was tough for him. but he prevailed. he won, and the american people won because they rejected lawfare. you know, i invented that term, lawfare back in the 60s. professor. proud or ashamed of it? yeah. >> it's a little bit of a miracle that all of this did go away. and i also mentioned the russia hoax. i also mentioned fisa abuse. i also mentioned
11:18 pm
top secret classified information that hillary clinton had and joe biden had, and they they did not they were not covered under the presidential records act. their homes, their offices were not raided. they were not spied on. if there was russian disinformation, it came from hillary clinton. she bought it. she paid for it. the government used it when they were warned not to use it. this these are not small levels of abuse here. this is systemic abuse of the legal system. we're talking about weaponization. that's the right term. >> that's the that's the essence of lawfare that it doesn't look at the crime, it looks at the person. and if it wants to see the person defeated for office, it goes after him. that's stalin, that's lavrentiy beria. show me the man and i'll find you the crime. but they couldn't find the crime. they searched high and low to find a crime in new york. >> they made him up.
11:19 pm
>> they couldn't find one, so they made it up. that's even worse. yeah, because it could happen to any of us. greg trump won the lawfare war waged against him because americans were paying attention. and they're smart. and they saw this for what it was. it was a contemptible weaponization of the law by democrats to win an election. but in the process, sean, they destroyed themselves with their own blatant corruption. voters resented it. they vented their anger at the ballot box. this is the ultimate jury verdict in america. so trump should actually be sending a thank you card. alvin bragg and juan merchant for unwittingly helping him win reelection. but the real loser in all of this is the new york legal system. it is now in tatters. >> all right. we appreciate you both. thank you, greg jarrett. thank you professor. we appreciate it. when we come
11:20 pm
back, as historic wildfires are ravaging the great state of california, governor ron desantis calling out the media for failing to hold governor gavin newsom accountable. wait till you hear what he had to say as we continue. >> i'm matt morgan and morgan and morgan. >> your car steering wheel could be a ticking time bomb. at least 24 people have died and many more injured because their airbags fired shrapnel at them. upon inflating, tens of millions of cars have been recalled, including models made by honda, acura, ford, toyota, nissan and many others. if you've been in a crash involving a deployed airbag, please contact us today. you could be owed money for medical bills and other damages. morgan and morgan for the people. >> hi, grandma. i played baseball today. oh that's great. >> what position did you play? >> first base. that's what grandpa used to play when our hearing wouldn't allow us to use a regular phone. it made us feel isolated.
11:21 pm
>> it became difficult to communicate with our friends and family. >> clear captions was an easy solution for us. >> clear captions provides captions on a phone, like captioning on your tv so you can see what the caller is saying live as they say it, making it easy to understand and respond immediately. there is no insurance or medicare required. clear caption service is provided at no cost to you through a federally funded program. we deliver, install and train you on how to use your phone all at no cost to you. >> give your loved ones the independence and connection they deserve. >> call now to see if you qualify to get a clear captions phone at no cost to you, call 1-800-979-0270. >> that's 1-800-979-0270. >> our survivalists are playing a game out there. we are playing a game in here. >> your loved one's fate is in your hands. >> i just want to go home. >> i'm not hitting the button. >> extracted series premiere monday, february 10th on fox.
11:22 pm
>> we are now one of the best in the nation. my question for you is, do we want more big boy basketball? >> this is the big one. it's the beginning. we just got to the bucket. oh, my. >> do not blink. >> it's the beginning. we just got done better than this. >> indiana. >> iowa. saturday at eight eastern on fox primetime hoops. >> bill stole my sister. there's a bounty on her. fella told me you'd help. >> you ever shoot a man? >> yeah. listen, man, i ever seen. >> you're the ugliest. >> the thicket rated r. >> all eyes on canada. jordan peterson on trudeau stepping down and trump's push for a 51st state. pluul.
11:23 pm
11:24 pm
>> look for clinical grade berberine and other doctor's preferred products in stores near you. >> this is a fox news alert. i'm jackie ibanez, live in new york. police driving through los angeles neighborhoods tonight, calling on people to immediately evacuate. helicopters are in the air trying to stop the flames as the palisades fire nears closer to brentwood and encino. our sister station, kttv, spoke to one man who got an evacuation alert on his phone. >> a couple of days we would
11:25 pm
take. >> we have stuff in the car loaded. >> what we want to take, you know, important papers and things like that. >> but otherwise that's it. >> how long have you lived here? >> oh, we've been we've been living here for 40 years. >> 40 years. and. >> and have you seen wildfires nearby before? >> we've had fires, but not like what's been going on in the last week. >> nothing like that. >> there's been nothing like that at all. and that. >> but this is. what can i say? >> the flames are already blamed for the deaths of at least 11 people and have destroyed more than 10,000 structures, mostly homes. the eaton and palisades fire leaving behind utter devastation with row upon row of rubble where houses once stood. the palisade fire, which is the most destructive in l.a. history, is still only 8% contained. >> and last night at
11:26 pm
mar-a-lago, florida governor ron desantis made a great point about the way the mainstream media is covering the devastating fires in california. imagine for a second if gavin newsom, karen bass, can you imagine the coverage in the media, if they were conservative, if they were republican? take a look. >> is it appropriate for the president elect or a president to be criticized, appropriate for people in your industry to try to create division and to try to create narratives? >> anytime these things happen now you're not as interested in doing that because newsom is a d. if newsom was a republican, you guys would go try to. you would have him nailed to the wall for what they're doing over there. and i know we've dealt with it. we just assume in florida, anytime something happens, it's going to be politicized by the media. so you guys sitting in judgment of donald trump, i mean, excuse me, i think your track record of politicizing these things is very, very bad. >> well said. and the more we learn about the lead up to the
11:27 pm
fires, the more apparent the failures of california's leadership are becoming. the l.a. times now reporting that one of the reservoirs in pacific palisades completely empty, completely empty when the fire broke out and it was closed because of a tear in the giant tarp that covers it. this is california governor gavin newsom announced that he is ordering an investigation to determine why the fire hydrants had no water in them. and firefighting, by the way, was not exactly the highest priority for the city of los angeles, at least not based on their budget. take a look at the screen. the current budget of the city is operating under includes $100,000 to, quote, support a safe haven for unsheltered transgender individuals in hollywood during overnight hours. and get this. and by the way, the city has an entire department of human rights and equity, which the budget says exists to promote diversity. but they don't have
11:28 pm
money for the fire department. that department got over $5 million in their budget. and according to joe biden, california's leaders, they're doing a great job. and he just had a great grandchild. on top of all of that. take a look. >> i think you get in a bad rap. i know you're getting a bad rap about these fire hydrants don't have enough water in them. give me a break. give me a break. what this is all about is the utility's understandably, what they did is they cut off power because they're worried about these high tension lines coming down and causing more fires in the wind. right. when they do that, guess what? they shut off the power of the controls, the ability to pump the water. >> you know, i ask you, we've got to deal with this misinformation. there were hurricane force winds of mis and disinformation lies. people want to divide this country, and we're going to have to address that as well. >> all right. here with more fox news contributor joe concha, outkick founder clay
11:29 pm
travis. joe concha, start with you really is poor gavin getting a bad rap here? is governor as mayor bass getting a bad rap here? she wouldn't even answer the media's questions. she didn't even know the website to send people for crying out loud. hydrants didn't work. they had an empty reservoir. they are known for wildfires. santa ana winds are predictable. you know what? what part of this did they ever do right? none of it. >> well, sean, first, governor desantis is 100% right in that video you played at the top. >> i mean, listen to this headline from donald trump's first term before a hurricane hit the us mainland in 2018, washington post editorial board, quote, another hurricane is about to batter our coast. trump is complicit, unquote. >> trump was complicit way before the hurricane even hit. why? because he didn't want to spend trillions on the green new deal. he didn't think that was a good idea. cnn before that same storm, 2018, said trump would be responsible for, quote, 80,000 deaths because of
11:30 pm
his environmental policies, unquote. i mean, you couldn't make it up. so if florida, tennessee, texas handled these wildfires and the patently horrific f minus fashion, gavin newsom and karen bass have, the demands for immediate resignations would be unavoidable from our flatlining legacy media. and oh, by the way, memo to gavin newsom, poor gavin newsom, your longtime dream of being a ken doll president that is now dead in 2028, you had years to take trump's advice in terms of raking and clearing forest the way it should be cleared. you need a roadmap. look at what finland has done. you can't stop wildfires completely, of course, but you can certainly mitigate them and stop them from spreading to dense populations like pacific palisades. it looks like a nuke went off there. newsom could have taken water from the state's delta region. we're talking millions of gallons of fresh salt, snow melt and rain. but newsom made sure it all flowed pointlessly into the pacific ocean, all in the name of environmentalism. how is the environment looking around los
11:31 pm
angeles now, governor? and then that call today was so insulting. from newsom to biden begging the president to fight what he deems to be misinformation. like what? not having water and fire hydrants, all the millions cut from the la fire department. that's not misinformation. those accusations are accurate. but here's the good news for those who like truth and objectivity, the current incarceration incarnations of twitter and now x and even facebook aren't going to play along this time the way they did with covid. for gavin newsom, the climate change card, the misinformation cards, those are as dead as gavin newsom's prospects in the future. as far as him being the next president of the united states after donald trump, you know, click hydrants that have no water, water being poured into the pacific ocean. >> they don't clean out the brush. they don't do controlled burns. there is a science to forestry, and they don't practice basic science. and now they're now they're shocked that people are outraged when
11:32 pm
you have, what, 10,000 plus homes burned to the ground, ten dead people out of this that we know of as of now, this is the consequence of having blue state and blue city governance. >> gavin newsom and karen bass, if they had a shred of decency, would resign. based on the performance here, all of the bragging about d e i and how diverse the fire department workforce was. did you see the video of the $400,000 a year employee who acknowledged that? boy, if your husband needed to be rescued from a burning building, she didn't have the ability to do that. and boy, it was tough that he had found him in that position. though when real crisis arises. you saw karen bass couldn't even read a freaking web address. she couldn't pronounce the word heroism. die is a luxury that only matters when real crisis doesn't arise. and gavin newsom as governor five straight
11:33 pm
years, sean, u-haul has said california leads the nation in people moving out, including, as you well remember, his own in-laws who moved to live alongside a ron desantis governance in florida. people are overwhelmingly voting, and i hope this is a realization moment for them. who you elect has consequences. rick caruso, he would have been able to handle this. you don't even have water in the fire hydrants. and now they're looking into it. they're turning on each other. i don't know if you've seen the clip. the la fire department chair is now saying yes, the city of los angeles failed them. and we're finding out that these elections, one thing was right. barack obama when he said elections have consequences. yeah. when you pick crappy leaders, you get crappy results. california is a beautiful place, but they have destroyed it with left wing governance. >> you know what the worst part. joe concha is? why am i so certain that the people of common sense already left california? as clay was
11:34 pm
pointing out? why am i pretty certain that if newsom ran again, or if kamala harris runs for governor out there, the odds are really high that they're going to win? because the people that stayed or the people that seem to put up with all this, well, you're right about that, sean. >> the precedent is there, by the way. i mean, adam schiff goes from congressman and gets elected to the senate quite easily, despite being the most discredited, at least in terms of integrity person that we have on capitol hill, nancy pelosi for decades, keeps getting reelected over and over again, despite the fact that san francisco is now a hellscape where that city more people are moving out of san francisco, which is a crown jewel. i mean, i've never visited there. it's a beautiful city, but people are like, yeah, i still got to go because it's too expensive to live here. my taxes aren't being allocated properly. there are more pets, more dogs living in san francisco right now than actual children. that is a true stat. so to your point, will voters in california continue
11:35 pm
to vote for these? as clay put it, crappy leaders over and over again? i hope not. but then again, we saw during this last election, 48 of 50 states went more red than blue, so perhaps that could happen. this may be the tipping point, sean. >> good point. all right, joe, thank you clay, thank you. when we come back, the failing state of california, a perfect example of what is wrong with today's radical, extreme democratic party. harold ford jr, more moderate from tennessee. we'll get his take on it straight ahead. >> it's an absolute problem. it happens all of the time. if you own property, you've got equity. you can be a victim. >> i'm here with art pfitzenmaier, a retired special agent with the fbi and senior advisor to home title lock. exactly. what is house stealing? >> that's a phrase i think that the fbi kind of coined when they first began seeing situations where people were
11:36 pm

11:40 pm
entire country. an income tax of what, 13% top earners. don't forget, there's an additional millionaire's tax of 1%. and it's not just the state's top earners that face the tax burden. if you are a singl filer, income ranging just over 54,000 to $68,000 or 350, your tax at an astounding 8% income tax rate. and california also has the highest statewide sales taxes in the country, at 7.25%. their corporate tax rate of nearly 9%. the state also has the highest gas tax in the country, $0.68 per gallon. wow. it's insane. now contributing to the second highest, you know, gas prices in the country at $4.38 a gallon. that's for regular. now, with all those taxes, you would think the state would, you know, see some benefits. but the failed response to the wildfires is not the only problem that is plaguing the deep blue state of
11:41 pm
california. the annual hud report on homelessness, compiled in december. it shows california had an estimated homeless population of more than 187,000. and california's job market is not exactly thriving, according to the bureau of labor statistics. their statewide unemployment data from november showed that california, with the second highest statewide unemployment rate at 5.4%. but the state's residents, they're finally coming to their senses. and this is what's happening. they are leaving in mass. look at the census report 2023. nearly 700,000 residents. they're moving out of the state. here with reaction, the co-host of the hit show the five, also a friend of the program, our friend harold ford jr. good to see you. happy new year, sir. >> same to you. >> happy new year and congratulations on the great personal announcement. >> i really appreciate it. it means the world. thank you. and everyone's been really, really kind and supportive. all right. so you're you're from

tennessee. you're a congressman from tennessee. i always knew you. and you would always come on the show and you'd always be reasonable. look at california. is there anything about what is happening out there, be it with the fire, high level of taxation, burdensome regulation that you that you think is smart? >> well, a lot of people, sean, live there and a lot of people that i have a lot of friends and family, some have been affected adversely by the by the fires in the last several days. >> and my prayers continue to go out to families who've lost loved ones and obviously people trying to recover and rebuild. but people make a decision to live there and there's a lot of beauty and there's a lot of majesty about living in, in a lot of prestige about living out there. i think as we sit here at this moment and i listen to some of the criticism which i think is warranted for some of the leadership out there, the only advice that i would have for both sides, those who are being critical and the leadership is, i think, the timing of some of our
11:43 pm
criticism of them probably could could wait a bit, because i think there's a lot of accountability and blame to go around. i think for the elected officials, the frustration that i have living in new york, and i hear from those in california, is that the political leadership doesn't seem to be able to do the 2 or 3 things that people want to know most. first, what are you doing to contain the fires and give us very honest, in real time and current updates, forthright updates on what's happening. we see some of that on our own network. we'll see in the bottom right hand corner how fires are being contained. tell us what security measures are being instituted in communities and neighborhoods to ensure that looters don't aren't able to run free. and then finally, i think some of the political markets, there's no question, will hold the mayor and the governor and others who need to be held accountable for what they did do, what they didn't do, what the tax dollars. i think what you put up early right before i came on, sean, those are compelling numbers. when you think about the tax numbers, you think about the people leaving the state. those are questions that voters will eventually ask of these elected officials. and as you and i both know, when elected officials are unable to answer questions like that about
11:44 pm
quality of life issues during times of crisis, they generally don't get reelected. >> what do you say now? these santa ana winds are predictable wildfires. they happen regularly. they have hydrants that don't have water. the governor says, well, that's up to the local people. they have a reservoir in pacific palisades that's empty. they don't practice the science of forestry. they're not clearing the brush. they're not doing controlled burns. they're cutting the budget to the firefighters. they have the highest taxes in the entire country. and then they're going to spend $650 million making the port of la green. and they're going to spend billions of dollars on wind turbines. now, that, to me, seems like they're mis prioritizing pretty much everything out there and then misappropriating taxpayer dollars. and people are leaving with their feet. they're leaving in droves. >> so, sean, all of those numbers are are daunting. and i think as voters out there and residents out there, these are decisions they'll have to make and will make. i believe in the coming the coming months and
11:45 pm
coming years as they think about leadership, retaining leadership or even electing new leadership. but listening to those numbers, one can't but help ask the question now i do, i do give them a break here. i think these 60 to 90 mile per hour winds were unusual, were historic, and i hope that whatever one of the things i hope they draw from this and learn from this is how they can better address this issue. you know, no politician for that matter, democrat or republican, can control wind speed, nor are we asking them to. but i think we have to be better prepared. they can be better prepared going forward, and i pray that they're able to get through this enormity of a problem. and if they are able to prepare and be better prepared, i should say, for the challenges we face. >> there is a question in the state of tennessee where you once were a congressman, they have zero income tax in the state of new york. i don't know if you're living in new york city. in new york, are you paying? you're paying 13.5%. where would you rather live
11:46 pm
financially? >> well, sean, you live in a state that that that has some of that, that, that as well. and i enjoy that. but i love i love new york and no and no, you can have it. i'm with my kids. my kids love it. they're all 11 and nine. but i think but but that's the point. everyone is able to make that make those decisions. but i don't want it all minimized. what you put up the fact if you live in california and you're faced with the kind of challenge, the unfortunate, the tragic challenge we're faced with right now, you want more from government officials, and i hope that they get more. >> you're probably the best spokesperson for the democratic party than anybody else out there. they really should hire you because you can talk reasonably to people. and i think this is one of the major reasons why they lost this election. harold ford jr, we appreciate you as always. thank you. all right. coming up, a staggering number of college kids, they are sympathizing with the alleged killer. remember luigi mangione. we're going to bring you the shocking

results. >> look for clinical grade berberine and other doctors preferred products in stores near you. >> all right. last month, the shooting of unitedhealthcare ceo brian thompson took the internet by storm as young people actually celebrated and praised the assassin, the shooter. a new poll investigated the glorification of luigi mangione amongst college students. look at this. they found 45% of participants. they actually sympathize with the shooter over the victim, brian thompson. by the way, a father and a husband, only 17% expressed sympathy for the victim. nearly half the students polled said that they viewed the killing as totally or somewhat justified. what?
11:52 pm
where's your moral compass? you know, these disturbing results further beg the question what is going on on college campuses across the country? you know, where we often see virulent anti-semitism, college students now becoming more and more radicalized. let's not forget those anti-israeli protests, pro-hamas protests raging on college campuses last year. anyway, here now with reaction, fox news contributor jason chaffetz and the host of outkick hit show tomi lahren is fearless tomi lahren. all right. tomi, get your reaction first. you're you're a little bit you're right there in that generation. i don't understand how you glorify an assassin. i don't i have no comprehension of that. >> yeah, well, here's what the problem is. and i consider myself to be an elder millennial at the age of 32. but these young people, obviously, they're being radicalized on their college campuses, and they're being radicalized by their administrators and by their professors who have spent most of their life teaching and
11:53 pm
haven't actually existed in the real world in any other job, beyond going to school and then teaching at a school or a university. so it's a very sheltered way of thinking. but a lot of these young people also, they've been taught not just in their colleges, but also in their high schools, some even their middle school, to demonize white people and rich people. so they look at somebody like a ceo like brian thompson, and he's white and they assume he's rich, he's a they demonize him and they glorify somebody that would take him down. only problem here, sean, is that the person that took him down or is accused of taking him down is also white and by all accounts also very wealthy. so they got their wires crossed somewhere in this. they're lost. but i think the election of donald trump and the margins that he got with young people shows that while some of these young people are unsaveable while they're in college, i think they are waking up. so we should have some optimism in that. i do think that there are big changes to come, and i'm very hopeful for our young people now. >> i think it's a separate issue, jason, and that is there
11:54 pm
are legitimate criticisms of the health care system, especially after obamacare. the promise to keep your doctor, keep your plan. average family saves $2,500 a year. that never materialized. now you have 40 plus percent of the country. they have one obamacare exchange option, only one. and as i look at this and i look at legitimate criticism, but these are two separate debates and arguments here. if you don't like the guy that cooks your food in the restaurant, you don't have a right to walk into the kitchen and take out a gun and assassinate the chef. if you don't like a driver in a in a taxi cab, you can't assassinate the driver. and that's the mentality here. is it any different? >> no, i think you're right. >> and i totally agree with the way tomi characterized this. i mean, what's wrong with these idiots? >> i mean, they forget that there should be some consequences to your actions. you know, you look back at the sympathizers with hamas. it's a terrorist organization. there
11:55 pm
are over a thousand people killed in and americans taken hostage. >> and yet there seems to be little sympathy. >> but there's also no consequence. >> you can go ahead and protest your government. >> that's as american as it gets. >> but when you go out and you create violence, when you go out and attack, people, physically attack them, that is just fundamentally wrong. and not only are they getting radicalized, i think in grade school, middle school, high school, and in college is certainly. >> but i also think we have to be serious as a nation, understand the breakdown of the family is really serious. >> the number of single parent households is really devastating, and the lack of church participation, where you maybe grow up in an atmosphere and learn some study some some things through, you know, whether it be the bible or you're going to a, you know, to a jewish synagogue, there are important lessons that you learn there about the basics of life. and if we as americans don't realize that the breakdown of the family also
11:56 pm
contributes to the crime and the attitudes, then we haven't fully solved and addressed the problem. >> you know what? it is a complete loss of any moral compass or clarity. no, no other way to put it. well said, jason. thank you tommy, thank you. when we come back, more hannity straight ahead. >> sean hannity is stepping away from politics. all right. whoa, whoa. >> let's not go that far. >> sean is getting personal on fox nation. >> that's more like it. we're having real conversations with people i know you're going to want to hear from. >> i've been to hell and back mentally and emotionally. i know what hell looks like. i see light at the end of every tunnel. >> now, sean, stream the next episode with stephen a smith, now on fox nation. sign up at foxnation.com. america is streaming for gentle, dependable constipation relief. >> try seneca. it works differently than other laxatives because it's made
