is not the time for pointing fingers. >> we need to stay focused but i will say that when the fires are out, make no mistake, we will have a full accounting of what worked, and especially what did not. >> and shannon, lives have been shattered the emotional component this building here was a preschool lined it with the tiles the children had painted, parents were out here, couple jon and cameron digging through the rubble trying to find a momento of their children's artwork to hold onto. here's what they told us, listen. >> all of my girlfriends, the one thing we said we wish we grab, no one thought this would happen we were in a rush to get out, all of her children's artwork. this is it. like this is it. we have nothing. finding all of my friends each when you find is like a treasure because you have nothing of their childhood artwork left.

are coordinating the resources for the fire suppression, the fire containment. fema starting to support the major disaster declaration the individuals who have been impacted. we want to make sure the start that process by one, registering for assistance disasterassistance.gov. contacting their insurance company because we will need to know exactly what they are going to cover. but more portly not cover so they can be eligible for different programs within our system. >> i want to ask you because fema is pulled in so many directions you are more multiple disasters at once with the ongoing situation of western north carolina. they would try to recover from helene there. they just had a winter storm come through there as well. our local affiliate abc affiliate said this, the fema transitional sheltering assistance program is ending for about 3500 households there. the programs provided hotel rooms to thousands of survivors across the mountains. however and generally third fema started notifying those in hotels they are no longer eligible for the program. i know that's been expended

through the 14th. what a short message to those families? one woman they spoke to said she has a broken down car, her home is uninhabitable she does not know where to go next. >> transitional sheltering assistance program is one of the best tools to help people in those immediate weeks and months in some cases like we are staying in north carolina with what their initial housing needs are going to be. people might receive that notification. what we do is we call everybody. we called them every two weeks to check in on where they're at, what their status as an is their home able to be occupied again? i could assu can assume there br home. i haven't talked to somebody at fema. the situation is still in need. they are still eligible we need them to get in touch with us so we can talk to them. everybody will have a unique circumstance everyone will have

unique situation but we need to work with them all individually to make sure were giving them the right resource so they can continue to keep an safe place. it's either rebuilt or accessible. >> the best weather website, e-mail, phone number to use this cases? >> the best thing for them to do is to call or would hundred 18621 fdma. they can go into disaster recovery area talk to someone face-to-face. i find it easier to talk to person, show them where your are at, show them what your status as they can work right there to make sure getting what you need. shannon: thank you for the information and your time. we wish you all the best. >> the american red cross is providing meals and shelter to thousands of people affected all kinds of places fo pretty speciy written on the los angeles wildfires. you can help by donating today. go to let me say that again

go.fox/red cross court you can scan the qr code parts there on your screen lift up your camera on your phone that's the quickest way to get it done i sent an exclusive interview advised the president-elect judy vance yesterday's first since leaving the senate officially. we started by talking about the new administration plans for handling disasters like the ones in california and recovering the carolinas. shannon: welcome back to fox ne"foxnews sunday" as vice prest elect, congratulations for. >> think he was good to be here. went to talk about the fire situation in california. your administration will be coming in, taking over the reins as the feds are trying to meet that along with many other emergency situations they have going on. gavin newsom, the governor of california is written to trumps and less not be divisive right now. come out and visit let people see us working together but any indication the president elect me do that? >> the president will visit
11:10 pm
california first of all our hearts go out to those affected by the storms. i've seen in videos of those people work folks have lived for 25, 30, 35 years and everything is gone. whatever your political affiliation it's hard not to see those images and just be heartbroken for fellow americans who are going for a very tough time but frankly the federal government has to do a better job. president trump is can committed to doing a better job with disaster relief and pray that's true for hurricane victims and flood victims in north carolina. it's true for the north carolina we have to do a better job we need competent good governance but that doesn't mean you cannot criticize the governor of california for so i think some very bad decisions over very long period of time. some of these reservoirs have been dry for 15, 20 years. the fire hydrants are being reported as going dry while the fires are trained to put out these fires. there is a serious lack of competent governance in california. it's part of the reason why the fires got so bad that we to better job at the federal level.
11:11 pm
shannon: are skeptics that worry about the menstruation will do it comes to handing out eight in california they're setting back to something president-elect said in september when he said we won't give him money to put out of all his fires but if we do not give him the money to put out his fire she's got problems but is there any consideration of withholding aid to california? works president trump cares about all americans he is the president for all americans. i think he intends to have fema and other federal response is much much better and much more clued into what is going on, there on the ground and president biden's been asleep at the wheel for a number of different crises. this final california fire, as it's really getting out of control in biden's last week and a half. does it drive home we have in competent governance for so long. the coalition that made and the president was a commonsense coalition. there are conservatives, moderates even a few liberals. the things that united us unite basic idea that yes government
11:12 pm
should be smaller. when government does the things that should do it ought to do them well. that's one of the things of president trump that are going to fight to get back to you. shannon: president biden is in what he can on this without the door and a number and it critics would say some of those appear to be aimed at blunting what you all might have plants. let's talk first about immigration. political has this had signed by nixon's temper a status nearly a million migrants ahead of trump deportation. the move allows the people from certain countries o that curreny have temporary protected status to renew work permits and deportation protections extending the program for el salvador until march 2026 and sudan, ukraine, venezuela until october 26. how does president trump plan to handle these last-minute things what are his own executive actions planned especially with regard to the board on day one? >> if you step back a little bit it's important to reiterate not just on the board about a whole host of issues present biden has left us an absolute dumpster
11:13 pm
fire. we are excited to get to work. we need to be open and honest about the fact that president biden is not left the next administration and a good place. funds are depleted but wide open southern border. oil is going to have bond yields 4.1% to 4.8% and a month. that's on top of the fact president biden has been running the largest peacetime deficit in the history of this country but we have a lot of debt, a lot of problems a white opens on the border. thank god donald trump takes office in a week and a half we need somebody to actually govern this country effectively. now, on the border crisis in particular the most important thing that we have to do is to send a message that america is close to illegal immigration. for the past four years we have been white open. you will see dozens of executive orders coming from the trump administration. coming from us on day one to send a message to customs and border patrol but you guys are allowed to do your job again. and to illegal immigrants all
11:14 pm
over the world, you are not welcome into this country illegally. if you want to come three of got sick of their proper channels. shannon: what about the critics who are humanitarian assets worried about deportation think i was going to be separated people will be put intense and terrible conditions. they have real concerns about the way you plan to meet at the center planning to do. >> this term is something you are going to hear a lot in the next couple of months, the next couple of years. family separation. i think it is important that's a euphemism that's a dishonest term to hide behind the fact joe biden has not done border enforcement. if you say for example in the united states we have a guy who is convicted of a violent crime and has to go to prison we want that guy to go to prison. that doesn't mean that guy is going to be separated from his family. that is the consequence of committing violence upon your fellow citizens. if you come into this country illegally, you need to go back home. you need to have basic award law enforcement. with the democrats are going to
11:15 pm
do they're going to hide behind this for the going to say this is all about compassion for families. it is not compassion for the drug cartels to traffic small children. it is not compassion and to allow the worst people in the world to send minor children some victims of sex traffic into our country. that's the real humanitarian crisis of the border but you are not going to exacerbate it through law enforcement going to fix it through law enforcement that's whalso donald trump is go to succeed in egregious things you fight site that all americans are against is a small fraction of the month of people here who built lives. many have been here for decades. >> you have hundreds of thousands maybe even a million people who in addition to a cross in the border illegally have also committed some measure of violent crime. some very large number of people, shannon. if you want to fix the overall border crisis you have to engage in law enforcement. we cannot buy into this ally
11:16 pm
from the extreme left most americans want common sense border enforcement. we cannot buy into this lie that law enforcement at the american southern border is somehow not compassionate to families who went across illegally. our number one responsibility is compassion to our fellow americans. that starts with enforcing the southern border. you coul cannot have a country w and order, of stability, basic good governance unless you get control of it biden has left us at the american southern border. president trump is committed to doing it on day one. shannon: you talk about the luck of the boarding must've talked about what he has left you on the economy robust report on jobs, president biden said his policy decisions are paying off. here's a bit more of what he said on friday. >> after decades of trickle-down economics primarily benefit those of the very type. our administration is written a new playbook is great the economy from the middle out in
11:17 pm
the bottom up that benefits everyone. the new playbook is working. shannon: the december numbers were good what kind of credit to give him? >> first of all i wish to biden all of the best. the fact is he has left us a dumpsters dumpster fire. not just at the border but at with the economy prices are way too high for many americans. we have to work every single leg to stabilize prices for american families. but shannon, everything he has s bragging about ignores the fact he has added trillions and trillions of dollars to the federal debt during a time of peace here an it he has left us with bond yields how are we going to finance that debt? we have to sell treasury bonds. the treasury bonds and gotten more expensive because of joe biden's policies. you go issue after issue oil prices are shooting through the roof in the final two months into biden's administration in part because of joe biden has made over the past few weeks he is not left the american people good economic condition but that's why they make donald j
11:18 pm
trump the president-elect of the united states. got a lot of work to do art fundamentally i will always be an optimist a better country. i think that optimism has to start with the bit of realism. the real truth is joe biden has left us a dumpster fire per donald trump is going have to put it out but he is good at doing that. shannon: are going to try to get their eight lightning round generally six pardon president trump said there is a process but where is the line drawn and who would and would be considered for a pardon? what is very simple if he protested peacefully and generally six event america gardens department of justice treat you like a gang member, you should be pardon if you committed violence on that day, i was so you should not be pardon this a little bit of a gray area but we are very much committed to seeing equal administration of law there's a lot of people would think in the wake of generally six who were prosecuted unfairly we need to rectify that. b6 the present attack by the middle east are going to inherit a situation and god said that's an ongoing conflict. there are we think roughly 100
11:19 pm
hostages still and hamas control. here's what he said on tuesday. >> at those hostages are backed by do not want to hurt your negotiation. they are not back by the time i get into office. it will not be good for hamas. it will not be good frankly for anyone. >> what does that mean, practically it' is going to brek loose any update back over the region tried to negotiate a deal? >> first was a great guy doing a great job over there if you talk to world leaders it's very clear that president trump threatening hamas and making it clear there's going to be h to pay its wiexpert where making progress getting hostages out. it struck toward the very end of biden's administration. maybe the last day or two. but regardless of when that deal is struck at will because people are terrified there are going to be consequences for hamas. what does that look like?
11:20 pm
number one enabling the israelis to knock out the final couple of battalions of hamas and its leadership. very aggressive sanctions and financial penalties on those who are supporting terrorist organizations in the middle east. it means actually doing the job of american leadership donald trump did very well for four years is going to do very well for the next four years. shannon: what to do with greenland and the panama canal are wheat using or considering military force in the situations? works we don't that he was a military force that thing they ignore is we have troops in greenland. greenland is important for america strategically has a lot of great natural resources for my friend donald trump unit was there a few days ago. they want to be empowered to develop the people of greenland want to be empowered to develop the resources there. once we should've properly cared for by american security perspective. and frankly, the current leadership the danish government has not been a good enough job of securing greenland. i think there's a real opportunity here for us to take
11:21 pm
leadership to protect america security plate to ensure that natural resources are developed that is what donald trump is good at parties good at making deals i think there's a deal to made in greenland. shannon: quickly your buckeyes made into a national champ jeff at the same day as the inauguration. you sparked a lot of backlash with your tweets that maybe escape the inauguration. is there some kind of executive power to move the game question what's the plan? >> trust me i've asked and apparently not i assure you that was a joke. i will be there during my constitutional duty and swearing in as the vice president of the united states but i really wish they could move the game until tuesday but if you're watching the show and you have the power, i'd really like to watch the buckeyes i do not want to be at the inaugural ball staring at my phone because we are watching ohio state versus notre dame. so let's move that game. if not i'll be rooting for the buckeyes and spirit. shannon: i think we'll get that shot you at the ball. thank you for coming by. >> think you could to see you. shannon: president trump aiming
11:22 pm
for some major legislative winds and quickly while shelly husted's new senate republicans this week as they mapped out a way forward. some say not so clear she's going to join us live, next.
11:23 pm
11:24 pm
11:25 pm
donald trump is a quarterback of the football team. he's been presented options he said his preference is one big beautiful bill. shannon: south dakota parnas and dusty johnson present alexa prex trump for packing numerous legislative priorities into one big vehicle. can lawmakers get that across the finish line? joining is now west virginia senator shelley capito. good to have you this morning, senator.
11:26 pm
>> thanks you for having me on. shannon: out to get to it walkies builders is a one bill is within your time spells it out some republicans argue they should pass to bills in order to quickly push through legislation focus on immigration at the southern border. but republicans devoted to lowering taxes pressed for one mammoth built to ensure tax cuts are not left on the cutting room floor. what are some of the logistical considerations on how to get this done? >> i think the most important aspect of it is we have a wonderful opportunity here with the president coming in and control of the house and senate. when you seize this opportunity. the american people are demanding it that's what the election was about in november. i think we want to have a success hesuccessor whether it'l or two bill i don't think it really matters as much as we get it across the finish line quickly and then it has the results of a border, unleashing energy, taxes and all of the things that we know president trump wants and we want to make
11:27 pm
sure we are moving in the right direction. and so i think you will see this iron out and a lot of it has to do with with what the speaker thanks could pass in the house. we are waiting as senators to hear that and see what the president thanks about that is so it's a big beautiful bill but he does see the merits of a two bill system you could push something through very, very quickly and get quick results but will iron this out. it's not confrontational anything it's just how to get us across the finish line. shannon: one of your colleagues senator lindsey graham is worried about the optics of this to saying there's a delay on it in the border done because you're trying to hitch a tax cut to it. he worries. here's what he said. >> am very worried if we don't put border first and get it done is going to be a nightmare for national security. if you hold border security hostage to get tax cuts you are
11:28 pm
playing russian roulette with our national security. shannon: what about that when the messages been from the right every single day the border is a national security issue. >> there is no question the border is the number one issue. 10 million people here illegally that have been poured over our borders for the last four years. the president campaigned hard on this issue saying he knows how to fix it working with congress he will fix it. i think you'll see a lot of executive orders at the beginning. at the same time we have it within our power to make sure his desires and our desires closing that border actually become effective and efficient. and so i do think and i have said publicly the two bill system makes more sense to me because we can do it more immediately and it can have it may be a quicker and more positive effect. but, at the same time we have to live in the land of the possible here.
11:29 pm
i agree with lindsey the border is number one. the president believes that as well. i do believe his speed is important here. i think were going to stick up the speed the president is not even present yet. once you get sworn in on monday will hit the ground running. shannon: shall have to battles over the nominees i know you have met with most of them and many of them. i want to talk about former congressman to head dni there's a man speaking out the executive director of the syrian emergency task force nonprofit to respond to the attacks on civilians by the former dictator there aside. he traveled with her to syria took her on edge of concern later she went on her own without the assistance or notice to the u.s. government, taking pictures. he is a bit worried about some of her conversations he now says this as an american citizen it concerns me if tulsi gabbard is her intelligence services they would not if i was them, i would
11:30 pm
not share intelligence with us knowing it might end up in the wrong hands up as a matter fact he says, i might choose to share false intelligence known it could get back to putin. you had a conversation with her. what was your conversation like? are you reassured with respect to past actions and statements regarding putin, regarding russia, regarding assad? >> is paras part of the senate's responsibility. it is advising content when tulsi gabbard came in, we talked about principally syria, russia, and her opinions on the intelligence gathering procedures that she ha is questn very deeply and at one point wanted to have them taken away. she has changed her position on that or clarified her position to satisfy me 702 provision is extremely important. i asked her about syria. i asked her how she got there she told me she traveled with former congressman dennis and
11:31 pm
originally they were just going to go to lebanon and then they ended up in syria. she said she believes syria under that regime is a terrorist nation and there are deep, deep problems in syria that could endanger -- that were not favorable to us. she has explained to think a lot of some of the misinformation that has been out there she's getting ready to testify before a committecommittee, will see he does. shannon: listing to r listen tor there is a group and calling on you not to vote for him he they say he's radical they worry about his positions on medicaid, medicare, affordable care act. tell us what you can with your conversation with him and what concerns you may still have earlier questions are answered? >> juergen the first thing i asked robert kennedy junior was about vaccination inoculation for it i came from a generation
11:32 pm
my parents took me to the elementary school, we ate a sugar cube my mother's jubilant she knew i was going to protect against polio. and so i believe to be able to prevent these types of diseases it's exceedingly important. he came back with he is not anti- vaccination. he wants to have it science -based. that's what he kept going back to let's have basic science to make these decisions. i think he wants a healthy country. once a health system that works at the same time he wanted these tough questions will be asked. >> there are many, many others that will work the process too. •-middle-dot we will watch as that is front and center in the weeks accompanied thank you for your time. all right, thank you. >> president trump send this one felony convictions out of new

of government. it never happen to any extent like this. never happened in our country before. shannon: president elect him sounding on his new york criminal case sentenced to an unconditional discharge friday without jail time, fines, anything else but cementing his place as a first convicted felon to take the oath of office to the presidency time now for legal experts to weigh in. jonathan turley, george washington university law professor former assistant u.s. attorney for the southern district of new york and eight mccarthy. judgment welcome. all three of us after this trial. andy, what was the point of friday? >> sometimes is not the destination, it is the journey. i.e. you cannot judge this by the bottom line. the bottom line is nothing came of it. the point here was not so much to achieve a certain result certainly not to put now president-elect trump in prison.
11:37 pm
the point was help the democrats win that 2024 election. if we take the point of this on its own terms it was a failure it did not do that. it was a terrible politicizing of the justice system. but the objective was to get the democrats into the white house in 2024. that is the real failure is not just a failure of this particular prosecution although this was the worst of them it's the whole lot better effort. >> okay the appeals will now begin on the substance of this whole thing. drop in the wall street journal at her twirl board said little trump's lawyers that pope mr. bragg was wrong with the case all along the d.a. and judge merchan are now on trout your thoughts? >> i think there is something to that. i thought the trump team did a fine job in the hearing but the most spirited defense offered is by judge merchan himself to
11:38 pm
defend his conduct in the case. i actually think the verdict against president trump is not going to last nearly as long against the verdict against the new york court system and judge merchan. they allow that legal system which was viewed as one of the great legal systems of the world, to be a weaponize for political purposes. and in the end at all resulted and a little more than a shrug and a soundbite. that is what ultimately was the thrill of this thrill kill case. was to be able to have this mantra the president is the first convicted felon to take office. even though that may ultimately be reversed. but, it's ultimately by sense and by sound pipe. there's nothing else he will walk into the white house. the new york court system a walk into infamy unless they reverse this. there's not a lot of high expectations. but eventually this a paddlers wagon piled high with reversible
11:39 pm
error is going to rattle its way up in front of the supreme court. and i think we will seiz season different result. thirty-six i will be covering it when it gets there but in the meantime we have federal cases essentially for the president elects they have gone away. jack smith's got these reports he can release, that is being litigated. whether they go public they don't have any legal ramification for the president-elect. jonathan i'll start with your thoughts on the fight of releasing them? >> well, the thing that will not be in the report is the most interesting one. that is have jack smith destroyed his own case. my friend andy and i both written about this. he had a very clear and easy case in florida. not that there were not controversies. but there were false statements and obstruction charges that he could have moved on. instead it loaded up with classified document charges that slowed it to a crawl. and then he brought the d.c. case was a bridge too far. i don't think it ever would have
11:40 pm
been sustained. the really interesting aspect is what smith won't talk about for the rest we have seen the judge in d.c. allowed much of this to be released in summer form earlier. shannon: andy, the attorney general, american garlands that he would release all the special counsel reports on his watch and pray did that and with the investigation into guided mishandling documents. this he give jack smith stuff out the door? >> he does but is jonathan as jn joseph said it's of marginal importance at best. they filed a 2000 plus page submission that was public in court three weeks before the election print which again underscores the point here not so much the litigation of trump. it was the election and trying to get the democrats and the white house. the point is that was to aid the democratic party messaging and the three weeks prior to the election. but the point is 2000 pages what
