running mate. and bill clinton was accused of rape, exposing himself in sexual plot. he had no problem with his friend but with pete. >> lawrence: pictures of him and doug who likes to be with the nannies as well. that is not a fair thing for him to do. be i like to look at this in two buckets. i look at it as you got to take pete being your friend and you're super proud because he held himself in a way that with those attacks coming his way he could have lashed out. he didn't. he kept his cool. the smirk that i predicted yesterday, the little grin, he did it yesterday. and he really showed his personality. but then you look at him as a nominee and he really separated the room with the elites people part of the military industrial complex the senators and then the war fighters. and it's clear from the crowd that were there. the people waiting outside of

the room, he is gonna be the secretary of defense for the people that are on the ground. they never had a voice in the pentagon and after his performance yesterday, i think that's what we're gonna see. >> steve: the first time president donald trump was president of the united states, for the most part he picked the kind of people that washington, d.c., the institutionalists that the people wanted him to pick. this time donald trump realizes, wait a minute, i'm going to be president of the united states. i can actually change stuff. i can change the way the pentagon works and, you know pete wrote that book about how messed up a lot of it is. and so that essentially has become a blueprint for his next four years if he is secretary of defense you know if he is confirmed and goes forward. if you missed it, if you missed a little, you missed a lot. here is some of his back and forth with democrats yesterday. >> mr. hegseth, should we take it to believe that you believe that the two women on this committee who have served

mistakes but i'm a changed man. i accepted christ into my life. i found a wife that is an incredible suiter for me. we work together and raise our children. you are demonizing most of the military right now when you go after people like that. >> brian: looks like lindsey graham said is he through. senator joni ernst who initially said i need to hear more said i heard enough. i'm through. he has 53 votes. i heard from people in the hegseth camp that the meeting with senator collins went well. that's the toughest with murkowski. what is stopping him from getting everyone mitch mcconnell ohio understood didn't meet with him. i don't know why. is he going to stand in the way? regardless. no one remembers if you got 53 or 93. >> lawrence: i heard during the committee yesterday, oh, you mean to tell me you changed your position on this? you guys put kamala harris up and she changed her position on every little thing. so if it was good enough for the person that wanted to be president of the united states. i'm sure he can change his position on some things to be

destructive southern wildfire ever. the eaton and palisades both of them just beating out all of these other big fires stretching back to 2007. containment 18% containment for the palisades fire. only 35 percent containment for eaton. we are concerned about the winds. yesterday we had a wind gust in excess of 74 miles per hour. hurricane force winds there, particularly dangerous situation yet again today until 3:00 p.m., and that's where all of the fires are burning. big concern here. it's going to be impossible in some of these areas to get fire crews in there if we have winds in except of 50 to 60 miles per hour. again, elevated to critical. and we're not expecting any rain in the forecast for the foreseeable future. just want to point out real quick. i know we have been focused on southern california. we have a storm system that's going to move in towards the east coast. potentially affecting the inauguration week. not only the storm system but the coldsest air of the season. there is a look ahead to all of the folks heading to d.c.

and there is nothing. pali elementary is a larger school. the original building still stands like the main part of the building. the -- historic building. but, the other half of that building is completely demolished. there were several bungalow rooms which are portable classrooms that two of my kids actually were in and i have seen photos of those. and they are completely decimated. so, it is a almost total loss in that they're not going to be going to palisades charter elementary any time soon. and, you know, the plan forward is we are trying to stay up there we are trying to stay in the community. they both have somehow rallied together, both schools have found new locations to start school again, which is fen

nonal. and that's our plan. that's the plan but we're a little far away where we are located right now. we are staying down in saint clementi which is an hour and 15 without traffic. two and a half or more with traffic. >> ainsley: wow. >> we're trying to figure that out. >> ainsley: i know in some of the pictures the kid would paint these tiles when they graduated from the preschool and a pile of them were found on the ground after the wreckage. i know when you went back home you said somehow even though you lost your house, somehow your yard was not burned. the butterfly garden was not burned. how are your children handling this? >> oh, so i have four daughters. 3, 6, 8, and 10. handling it so differently. my oldest is anxious, nervous to go back to los angeles. doesn't want to be close to the

fire. my youngest talks about her house burning down. why did my house burn down? what is happening? you know, and my kindergartner will have moments where she is totally fine and then the other night she came up to me and says oh, mom, i'm so sorry, you're getting married dress is gone. and, you know, those things hurt. hearing your kids grieve their things. it's something i've never experienced before. >> ainsley: right after christmas, too. i know you said have you lived many places. pacific palisades was extremely special. i know you do plan to rebuild. we wish you all the best. >> thank you very much. i appreciate it. >> ainsley: we are praying for all of y'all. your precious little girls, too. >> we are praying so hard. thank you. >> ainsley: thanks, hillary. we have more "fox & friends" coming up.

ted bud posted on x yesterday, my office is hearing from dozens in western north carolina who have been kicked out of their hotels tonight despite fema's announcement that they were extending assistance through january 25th. that's 10 days from now. this is unacceptable. this needs to be fixed tonight. one north carolina couple who have been helping the displaced offering this assessment sunday on "fox & friends weekend." listen. >> the biggest issue here is fema has been extremely slow to respond. they were slow to respond in the beginning. they are low so respond now. there are still thousands of people waiting on temporary homes from fema. >> steve: and they need help. senators ted bud and thom tillis say they will fix fema so people have a warm place to stay at night. this week the temperature has been below freezing and they need help, lawrence. >> lawrence: yeah, they do. thanks, steve. >> steve: you bet.

trans girls. trans girls are girls. >> lawrence: is that what this fight is about examining little girls? i mean, this is just off. >> yeah. that's one way to put it. if she spent two seconds reading the bill she would know this has nothing to do with gentle inspection. this hassing in to do with any sort of anatomical examination. this resorts to birth certificates and a routine physical, which every athlete already has to complete to be able to play their sport anyway. and so to watch the theatrical performance which that's exactly what it was from pretty much all of the democrats on the house floor, it was disheartening and to continue to see them tout about women's rights and she mentions the violence against women act. do we remember how aoc voted on the violence by illegal aliens act? she voted in opposition. so, i mean, look at these people. look how they voted on the laken riley act and how they voted on

the save womens sports act if they were a no on one or both they do not say they support women and women's rights. >> lawrence: i was surprised it was only two democrats from the texas delegation so we got some texas democrats that have some sense. you have representative henry way car and vincent gonzalez who voted for the bill. if they really cared about women, they are going to destroy the sport. >> you don't think it's a partisan issue and neither does the majority of americans as made very, very clear on november 5th. aapparently november 5th taught them nothing. will we see people double down like we saw from aoc or will we see people start to slowly recant from their position. if you can remember, lawrence, a few months back, pretty immediately congressman seth moulton went on the news we have

become too radical as a party. i have daughters. i don't want my daughters on the court or field with boys. but even congressman moulton was pressured into voting in opposition of the protection in women and girls in sports act. but that tells you something. it tells you that more than a party what the democrats are is truthfully they are a cult. >> i do find that interesting because we interviewed the congressman, and you thought that there was an epiphany on this issue to see the double down even after the election is truly shocking. what do you think is the end goal here? do you think in the end that you guys are going to win this fight? it passes the senate and president-elect trump when he becomes president actually signs the bill? on hot button issues than certainly the house does i don't know what the timeline looks like if you remember last year the senate totally disavowed
