falter later. >> if some of the nominees fail on the job, it will haunt our republican colleagues because warnings will have been there from the start. >> chad: thune will introduce kristi noem, he is new senate majority leader. we don't think kristi noem will be in first traunch of nominees to go to the senate floor. they will probably do one or two nominees on monday night, that will probably be marco rubio, who is up for secretary of state. >> brian: what about other dates, chad? is there intentional reluctance to put them on the board or paperwork reason we don't have dates next to some names? >> chad: it takes time. you have to have a hearing and a committee mark-up on inauguration day, you have to get out of committee and discharge for the floor.

some nominees will require debate on the floor, probably have to overcome filibuster on pete hegseth, that will take three to five days on the floor alone. >> steve: wow. >> brian: what? >> chad: it is arduous. >> lawrence: you don't expect pete hegseth to be confirmed on inauguration day? >> chad: absolutely not, no, there will be a filibuster, they lowered the bar some years ago, this was done by harry reid, he lowered it from 60 to 51 votes. there is time that has to burn off there. they will try to do low-hanging fruit first and marco rubio falls into that category and probably john ratcliffe for cia director, he was confirmed before, maybe him on monday or tuesday. >> steve: question for you, you mentioned pete hegseth, before his nomination hearing democrats were complaining that the fbi did not interview enough people,

that the investigation was too short. are they giving the fbi more time or looking deeper into people than they did with earlier ones? >> chad: some of this paperwork was not completed. kristi noem's confirmation hearing was scheduled for wednesday, they did not have paperwork finished, it was pushed back until today. a little secret about how fbi background checks work. the client is president-elect trump and the transition team. they ask questions on behalf of them, this is not an independent type of investigation they do here. some republicans and some democrats don't think background checks are as thorough as they could or should be. >> ainsley: so many nominees, on average, when are all the seats filled? how many months or weeks does it take? >> chad: probably a couple

trump at mar-a-lago. he told tom homan he'll be cooperative best he can in sanctuary city rules. there was meetings yesterday how to new york city and no one told the mayor. he has low approval ratings and a couple indictments, he seems to have one over donald trump, they are going through similar legal battles. >> lawrence: this is mayor adams spokesperson. mayor adams made it clear willingness to work with president trump on behalf of new yorkers and partnership with federal government is critical to new york city's success. the mayor looks forward to having a conversation on how to move our city and country forward and tom homan, we had him on after the meeting with mayor adams. he said he sounded like a cop again, talked about cleaning up the city.

in chief and alejandro mayorkas was your deputy at the time. what changed from that period of time from that name to now? >> well, i'll answer this way. i believe that an effective immigration policy in this country encompasses several things at once, which most people don't want to hear, border security, secure border, consistent with values of our country, treating people who are here, committed no crimes, are essentially honest people, treating them in fair and humane manner, giving them opportunity to come out of shadows, be accountable, pay taxes, get on the books. if you have kids who are u.s. citizens, i think we can do several of those things at once.
