joe biden left the white house today. boarding marine one for one final trip as president. and before that he got a question from the press. >> mr. president, you plan to talk trump for not ration? >> what? >> will you talk to trump or not you ration? >> jesse: we will see about that because inauguration is looking a little different. more on that later. biden is leaving office, quote, totally dejected. people say the white house feels like a morgue. all of biden's friends were giving him a eulogy. listen. >> i really miss biden. i felt like we were safe. i didn't have to worry. i could live my life while he was in. now every day i wake up and worry what this guys going to do next. >> jesse: it is a bit her goodbye. and joe is going out screaming. >> this is one of the last events i will be doing as president. i affirmed the legal rights amendment to have cleared all

[cheering and applause] >> it is the law of the land now! it is the 28th amendment to the constitution now! >> jesse: every lawyer in d.c. is trying to figure out what he just said. brett bears bow ties in a tangled mess. did the president just announce he added things to the constitution. how? it sounds like biden thinks he just added an amendment. here's the thing. there is no 28th amendment. if trump announced he made an amendment to the constitution, all would break loose but the media isn't taking joe seriously. their dislike, hey,, he says things. two people close to biden tell nbc that, quote, privately biden has vacillated from feeling melancholy to resign to angry to whistling as he reflects on his legacy.

bridges and stimulus checks! this isn't a great statesman, no one feel sorry for a guy with his own jet and chef. biden had the entire media and tech industry on his side and he thinks he had a p.r. problem. the medias remembering the biden era a little differently. they are remembering a president who lied to them. >> democrats, including you were relentlessly harsh against special counsel for making an observation that proved, pretty accurate about how joe biden might appear to a jury is a well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory. >> jesse: and a president who hid from them. >> they started to get smarter from the perspective of keeping him from saying something off script. so they would put a microphone -- 2 feet inside of a door for him and some room on campus. a door would open and he would go right to the microphone and then when he was done, he would step out, no chance to show anything.

or they would pack the room with people -- hundreds of people who would suddenly show up and materialize between us and him. or they eventually found the court to plug someone's iphone in and they would blast music so that people could not get anything to him. so a lot of it was stagecraft. >> jesse: the ragin' cajun calls the legacy one of the great tragedies of american politics. he should be having a glorious, well-deserved, highly acclaimed retirement and he is not. it is hard to blame anyone but him. the atlantic says biden destroyed his legacy i stubbornly setting off on his own reelection campaign by strapping his party to his shuffling frame. he doomed the nation to realizing the nightmare scenario that he had promised to prevent. he created the ideal conditions for trump's return. and for his own spectacular failure. and not only is he leaving with zero cash for a presidential library, he's leaving with no friends.

biden's people say the relationship between him and nancy is, quote, permanently damaged. 's relationship with kamala is being called frosty after joe has been bragging about how he could have beaten trump. but kamala may have something up her sleeve. >> i am fully aware that i am the public face of a lot of our work. so i have the benefit of running into people all over our country to thank me. it is not my nature to go quietly into the night. >> jesse: publishers want to pay her millions to write a tell-all. so this is not over at all. and joe cannot stop talking about barack r. >> you heard the rock get mad at me. and i would say i know, i know, all politics is personal. well it is about understanding what motivates the other guy, other woman and what their interests are. >> jesse: and it is all personal. biden is upset that berry

stabbed him in the back and obama is upset that joe did not name an aircraft carrier after him. yeah. after biden named aircraft carriers after bush and clinton this week, barack's people are complaining. one said barack obama did not get a personnel carrier named after him? the ss hussein obama does not strike fear in her enemies so maybe that's a good one. and barack and nancy aren't the only ones on joe's bedside. chuck schumer is now in the hot seat as well. we just found out chuck was the lead actor in the coup. although that is according to chuck. he just spilled his guts to the times. according to the story, after the debate, schumer's flip phone would not stop ringing. biden was not leaving and instead he released a letter telling democrats to fall in line. on capitol hill, democrats did not think joe wrote it khaki thought it was written by hunter. one senator said they would not support biden unless he could produce to neurologist to issue a public report saying he was fit to serve.

and then the news conference when anyone could ask questions. obviously that never happened. and inside of private meetings, they were all fighting with each other. john fetterman was pleading with schumer saying, we have got to be for joe biden and accusing democrats of having no spine. schumer scolded federman saying you can always express what you think and our caucus but don't ever tell our members they have no spine. it is not effective for you and not fair to them. remember, schumer leak this to the times so it is just his side of the story. barack was getting worried that democrats were doing nothing. but he was not going to be the one to break the news to joe. barry said his relationship with joe was fragile. and he told chuck, you may be the better one. he was like, trust me, you don't want me to do this. and when chuck showed up at the beach khaki heard biden shouting on a zoom called other democrats. i'm not leaving! and he knew things were about to get awkward but chuck had to

tell him how bad his poll numbers were and he showed him a sheet. where biden had just a 5% chance of beating trump. and biden looked at it like he had never seen it numbers like this before. 's own pollsters were hiding numbers from him. he sat down near a screen porch overlooking delaware and said, if you run and you lose to trump and we lose the senate and we don't get back the house, that 50 years of amazing, beautiful work goes out the window. you can go down in american history is one of the darkest figures. and left with one last warning, quote, if i were you, i would not run. and i'm urging you not to run. biden did not shout or argue, all he did was say, you really think kamala can win? and then biden said, i need a week. and schumer walked out, biden put his hands on his shoulder and says, quote, you've got bigger balls than anyone i've ever met.

and chuck went out to his car and broke down crying. crying chuck. a week later, biden dropped out. here now, the former democrat advisor and cohost of the morning meeting. do you believe schumer was the one to twist the knife? >> he was one of them. certainly nancy pelosi and barack obama as you said here, played a role in it. because chuck schumer new, nancy pelosi new that biden really had the least public facing president of the modern era. he was incapable of doing the performative aspects of the job. so the way you would come back from a bad debate, storm the country, town halls, press conferences, show people you have the energy. >> jesse: release doctor's notes! >> but he couldn't and they knew it. so the gig was up. so schumer was absolutely one of the people who went to deliver be pretty tough message. >> jesse: so while this was all happening, a lot of

democrats were saying run, joe, your great and joe was fine. so democrats were lying to everybody? >> absolutely. people knew it going back to the 2020 campaign. if you remember during covid he was in his basement. they guarded his nights and weekends religiously. he got tired very easily. when he got into the white house khaki was rarely in public using the bully pulpit. the story was that he was working behind the scenes. >> jesse: then whenever the press was there, i guess they would crank up the volume all the way so our very own stupid son of a gun couldn't get a question in. how juvenile is that? >> that is just one of the tactics that they often used to try to distract people and mitigate the possibility that he would be having a bad day and people would see it. >> jesse: so barack hates him, biden hates barack, nancy is not talking with her best friend of 50 years, kamala is definitely peeved. she may write a tell all. does this pretend good things for the democrat party?

72 hours away from reclaiming the white house. but freezing temperatures are forcing a major change. the inauguration will take place inside. inside the capital. the president-elect saying this ... i ordered the inauguration address in addition to prayers and other speeches, to be delivered in the united states capitol rotunda as was used by ronald reagan in 1985. also because of very cold weather. temperature in d.c. on monday is expected to be in the 20s but with the windchill factor it is going to feel like the single digits. and 4 inches of snow may be on the ground for the day before. trump says he does not want to put anybody at risk, especially the officers and volunteers working outside all morning and night. so trump will be getting sworn in and the same capitol rotunda or january sixth protesters went through just four years ago. you can't make this stuff up. but has america gone soft?

it is too cold to inaugurate the president outside? this isn't greenland. yet. jfk got sworn in and 20 degrees and 8 inches of snow on the ground. but maybe the inauguration was moved inside for security purposes. the threats against trump are still sky-high and it is easier to protect him inside. so when the weather's cold, trump is still red-hot. is entering the next term with a higher approval rating than the first time around in his inaugural message is expected to be, shall we say, sunnier than in 2017. trump likely wants to use his address to make sure people know he is president for all americans. he likely does want to come out and be seen as a unifying force. but that doesn't mean he is going to compromise on the policy, necessarily or campaign promises. the tone and venue will look a little different and so are the folks in attendance. hip-hop star nelly is set to perform at one of trump's inaugural speeches and that's on top of jason all dean, carrie underwood, the village people,

"time" magazine is giving coping advice for libs who were at the beginning of a four-year breakdown. they say this inauguration weekend, try forest bathing, journaling and smiling. and if you need to cry, just cry. it is okay. time also says you can saying, paint, make a vision board were dance. kathy already started. she hired a dance team to open for her at the state of the state address.
