supposed to be a cease fire between israel and hamas in the bloody 15 month long war. but the deal has been delayed. and at this hour, the idf says it is continuing its attacks in gaza because, according to israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu, hamas has reneged on its promise to hand over a list of the names of hostages to be released sunday. hamas claims the delay is due to, quote, technical field reasons, and says it remains committed to the terms of the ceasefire. but netanyahu says the deal cannot move forward without the list. the hamas run health ministry, meantime, claims at least eight people in gaza have been killed in idf strikes since the ceasefire was supposed to begin. now, if and when the ceasefire does get underway, it will mark the first pause in fighting in months in the war. that was sparked, of course, by

the horrific hamas attacks of october 7th, 2023. as part of the agreement, hamas is scheduled to release three female hostages on sunday, with an additional 30 hostages expected to be freed over the next few weeks. in exchange, israel would release 95 palestinian prisoners on sunday, including ten believed to be under the age of 18. in total, israel is scheduled to release more than 700 palestinians as part of the first phase of the deal. additionally, israeli troops will withdraw from populated areas of gaza to an approximately half mile wide buffer zone. also under the agreement, 600 trucks carrying desperately needed aid will also be allowed to enter into gaza every day. that's a significant increase from what has been allowed up until this point. hundreds of aid trucks are already lining the rafah border crossing in egypt, at

the southern end of the gaza strip. now, prime minister netanyahu says a ceasefire would be temporary and has warned israel. israel would resume fighting if the deal falls apart and as of now, there are no concrete agreements on the second and third phases of the israel-hamas deal. negotiations for those stages are due to begin on the 16th day, after the initial phase of this deal goes into effect. fox news correspondent chanley painter has more on what is delaying the ceasefire from beginning. so chanley, what is up here? >> yeah. jonathan. so benjamin netanyahu doubling down this morning on his demand that the gaza ceasefire will not begin until hamas provides the names of the hostages to be released as promised in their agreement. and preparations had been underway for the transfer of those three female israeli hostages this morning to kick start the weeks long cease fire plan. but now that is all on

hold. after the prime minister held a security situation assessment overnight regarding the delay in receiving the list of those captives, netanyahu instructing the idf this morning, quote, that the cease fire will not begin until israel has received the list of released hostages which hamas has committed to providing. hamas, in a statement, blamed technical issues, saying, quote, the hamas movement confirms its commitment to the terms of the ceasefire agreement and points out that the delay in the delivery of the names to be released in the first batch is due to technical field reasons. now, despite this delay, palestinians were seen celebrating in the streets of southern gaza, including firing gunshots into the air as the clock struck that time of 8:30 a.m. local time for the cease fire to take effect. and then meantime the idf, though, continues to attack inside gaza, they say, until hamas complies with the terms of the agreement confirming a short
12:05 am
while ago it struck a number of terrorist targets in northern and central gaza. and according to the palestinian civil emergency service, at least eight palestinians have been killed and 25 injured since the cease fire was set to begin. jonathan. >> john lee, thank you very much. joining us now, doctor rebecca grant. she's a senior fellow at the lexington institute. joining us by phone. thank you for being with us, doctor grant. so israel is continuing its attacks against what it says are terror targets in gaza. the officials in gaza are saying that at least eight palestinians have been killed. so for the moment, doctor grant, nothing has changed. do you expect that it will in the next few hours, or is this cease fire effectively dead on arrival? >> well, i certainly hope it's going to take effect. but, you know, we've seen this from hamas before. they had that brief cease fire back in
12:06 am
november of 2023, and it was filled with all sorts of delays and problems and only lasted six days. now hamas says they're going to sign up to this one, and i really hope they do. but everyone agrees. step one is to release the names of those first three hostages that are coming out, coming out. and don't forget, the houthi rebels in yemen have also they've said they'll stop firing, but not until there's a ceasefire. and they launched two ballistic missile attacks on israel on saturday, which fortunately israel intercepted. so it's coming down to the wire. >> yeah. doctor grant, as you're speaking, we're looking at a live picture from gaza, i believe that looks to me like khan yunis in the south rather than gaza city. but there's definitely a lot more movement than we've perhaps seen previously. it looks like people in gaza do have some optimism that this is going to go forward. the other image
12:07 am
that struck me from that we were seeing from gaza today was gun toting militants riding in the backs of pickup trucks, guns, you know, drawn as so often and would that would appear to me, doctor grant, to be a display by hamas that they are confident and still to some extent at least in control. it would be hard, i think, for prime minister netanyahu to argue at the moment that he has achieved his goal of destroying hamas. >> well, i think there is some some confidence there. but there's no question hamas's military capabilities have really been flattened. there are still hamas cells that are obviously operating in gaza. you know, that's going to be an issue as the cease fire kicks in within a week or so. there are provisions to have civilians, pedestrians and
12:08 am
vehicles start moving north and south again. and, you know, we'll really see what hamas's grip on this place is. and also, you know, the palestinian authority is making noises about what their role might be right now. the agreement calls on on hamas to police certain areas of gaza. so we're going to have to watch this one very closely. >> yeah. for sure. and then on the israeli side, doctor grant, i wonder what you see as the future of prime minister netanyahu should this deal hold, should we get to an end to this war? prime minister netanyahu was a deeply unpopular prime minister before the war started. you could make the argument that his tenure as prime minister was lengthened because of this war. do you believe he holds on long after it finishes? >> well, i wouldn't want to bet on that. i mean, i think that it could be very, very tenuous. you know, he's had to make some
12:09 am
compromises to get this cease fire. i think he's done the right thing, of course. and don't forget, so many of these terms were laid out back in may, reinforced in august. and if we'd had a yes from hamas, we could have had a cease fire sooner and cooperation going on. i think netanyahu's future is a little bit hard to say. he does, i think, deserve a lot of credit for finally bringing this cease fire into place. and in the broader sweep for restoring israel's security, which was job number one. it may depend, too, on if he's willing to move ahead in normalizing relations between israel and saudi and if he becomes, you know, a participant in returning to the abraham accords and a larger positive trend in the region, it's just very hard to say. >> and then, doctor grant, you mentioned the word credit. i wonder how you see the credit being shared between president
12:10 am
biden and president elect for at least the next 24 hours or so? trump, the incoming president, is there credit due on both sides there, do you believe? >> well, i'm going to have to give a lot of credit in the final hours here to president elect trump, because it was his election and his statements in december that made the crucial couple of breakthroughs with hamas and have led to hamas finally agreeing to the terms of this ceasefire. so i think there's no question that trump is the one who's really carried this into the end zone. >> all right, doctor grant, thank you very much. joining us now, aaron cohen, who is an israeli special ops veteran and host of the aaron cohen show on youtube, and rabbi haim mintz, also with us. thank you once again for being here, gentlemen. aaron, we're just hearing word that we may get
12:11 am
some sort of announcement soon. that would seem to me to indicate that perhaps the list of hostages to be released today, sunday, has been handed over, and we're going to get to the cease fire. have you have you thought all along through this last hour and a half that this was just a speed bump and we would eventually get there? >> yeah. originally, jonathan, i was thinking that this was just a technical speed bump, but, you know, after being on here with you for a couple of segments, i'm leaning towards a hamas really maximizing the psychological pressure. the spotlight's on them right now. this inauguration is about to go down in dc, which is about president elect trump. and once again, the spotlight is back on hamas. and i think this is potentially increased psychological pressure to increase the divide and tension within the israeli government. there's a lot of pressure right now on prime minister
12:12 am
netanyahu. and as you mentioned, he wasn't very popular before the war, although i think he's been doing his best in the last 14 months to lead with strength. but i do think that this could be part of a larger attempt for hamas to control the narrative at this point right now, given the fact that we're how many hours away from president elect trump going into office, and here we are talking about hamas and what they're afraid of, in my opinion, is the moment those cameras are off them, they become irrelevant and they kind of dissolve into the background. and so i think this is a last ditch here to control, to, to create a little more psychological pressure, which affects the families. jonathan, here we are talking about it. i think that could be a piece of what we're seeing here, but we'll see what the announcement comes out and says from the idf. >> yeah, we have just got one announcement, rabbi, and i'll be interested in your response to this. the right the right wing minister ben-gvir is
12:13 am
saying that he has resigned from the government because of this ceasefire deal. he indicated his dissatisfaction with it as soon as it was announced. he has then this is according to the reporting of reuters. he has now resigned. a clear sign of the of the split that there is in israel over this, over this agreement. >> rabbi, first of all, israeli politics is hard to understand. but what we do must understand is, do you notice there's no dancing in tel aviv? there's no dancing in jerusalem. and the reason is, is because this is a very hard pill to swallow. of course we want the hostages out. but what you're also doing is you're keeping hamas alive. i know in stage two, hamas has to say we're not in the government anymore. we're not going to be. excuse me? there are too many people in israel said, we've been here before, and we do not want to go back and keep on fighting. let's get
12:14 am
it over with. so there are people. it's not the right wing and the left wing. it's everybody in israel. we're happy that we may get a hostage home two three, but the reality is, is that nobody's happy knowing that we're releasing a lot of terrorists. and we didn't wipe out hamas. they live. >> aaron, the israel's channel 12, which is a pretty reliable source, generally reporting that that list of names has indeed been handed over. reuters saying it's to be delivered soon. so one way or another, we are getting to the point at which, according to the terms of the ceasefire, it can be implemented. and i wonder, aaron, as a as a special ops vet, you see the hamas militants riding in the back of pickups looking like this is a celebration. how does
12:15 am
that strike you? >> as a as a fashion icon, like we say in hebrew? jonathan, that's the language of the middle east. the moment that a ceasefire was announced is a victory for the arab world. that's how they think. that's how the neighborhood sees it, and that's how it's been for the last 75 years, for hundreds of years. and so what you're seeing right now is the is the is the culture of the middle east. they see themselves as striking the great goliath, the fact that bibi's having to capitulate and be at the beck and call of hamas, as i just mentioned, taking their time with this list, which fortunately, we'll get these names in a minute here, hopefully. and this is their show of strength. it's a very gaslighting, kind of skewed backwards sort of way of looking at the world. but this is this is the middle east and these weapons that you're seeing in the b-roll here for them is a victory. israel has been defeated, so on and so
12:16 am
forth. and this is going to be blasted out by qatar owned al jazeera, by the way, which even the palestinian authority in the west bank has outlawed. and so it's a it's a this is this is just typical radical islamic fundamental propaganda that's being put out there. and this is the way they show strength. meanwhile, eight of them were just killed 25 minutes ago. so, you know, go figure. >> jon. jonathan, can i pick up on what he just said? you're looking at the hamas people celebrating. what's even worse is that all these little children, they're all watching tv shows about how to go and kill jews, how to go and kill israelis. we may go and kill the entire hamas army today. let's say we did. you got a whole generation being brainwashed. we are not going to stop this fight. israel is having a cease fire, but these kids are being trained for 20, 30 years. keep the fight going. there has to be part of this three stages, which it's not.
12:17 am
new schools, new education to bring up a new generation. we did it in japan. we did it in germany. time to do it there. >> extraordinarily difficult thing to achieve, though. aaron. >> very difficult, but doable. but you're talking about the essentially the reeducation of an entire culture that's been systematically trained to hate the jews since 1948. but this goes back, you know, hundreds, thousands of years. is it doable? i do believe it's doable. i don't know how you i don't know how you cross that bridge. and in essence, you're, you know, me going back 25 years to my service at the beginning of it. you can't defeat this ideology, jonathan. and so i really do. i get what the rabbi is saying, and i'm with him in theory, but you're talking about the entire reeducation of millions of people who are in such a deep soak of hatred. i wouldn't even
12:18 am
know where that begins and what that looks like. >> but we do have the arab accords showing that there are arab countries that were enemies of the jewish people starting to realize there is a better way. and i do believe goodness, and i do believe in proper education. you've got to realize not one of these children were born. not one of these children were born saying, i want to kill a jew. that's right. they were taught this way. we got to start somewhere, but it's nowhere in the three stages. and that is part of the problem. >> and as you you see, we're watching the video or we were just watching the video of those pickup trucks. again, i don't know how you you have to get an entirely new system of government to begin with in gaza. aaron. and i don't know how you even begin to start doing that. there's lots of ideas being floated at. i don't know if any of them are achievable. certainly not in not in the short term, even possibly in the medium term.
12:19 am
>> well, it's you're nailing it. it's very complicated. it's a very large scale process. but i think this conversation is the start of it. the more these conversations continue to come out, then we can possibly get some partners, some good actor partners from the arab world, saudi, the abraham accords. let's keep pushing all that forward and let's get the arab world to get involved and get the coalition involved. hamas cannot rule. and if you look at phase two of that, of that deal, the cease fire deal, hamas is not supposed to rule. that's supposed to be part of the ongoing agreement. and if they are, if they continue to be in power, then israel goes back in. and so really, i think this comes down to how do we get all of the international partners involved on a macro level, to be able to come in to gaza and whatever, and the west bank and begin to properly start to reset this region, is it doable? the arabs and the jews have lived together in peace, but this is a much
12:20 am
larger political conversation that's going to involve millions and millions of dollars in good players. >> we were able here in america to change real quick, rabbi, real quick. we were able to change. a lot of americans here that were democrats were able to vote for trump. in other words, you're able to get a good message. things can change drip by drip. we can't give up on the new education. >> okay. rabbi haim mentioned aaron cohen, pleasure to have you with us through this evening. we will be back. for evening. we will be back. for more on the breaking news bh they have to make a choice one versus the other. sensodyne clinical white provides two shades whiter teeth as well as providing 24/7 sensitivity protection. patients are going to love to see sensodyne on the shelf. so, what are you thinking? i'm thinking... 12:25 am
her joe biden tony blinken of men patting themselves in the back they might as well been putting a kick me sign in uncle sam because that is what they've done for the last four years. now, my general posture is we should not negotiate with terrorists. we should not ask israel or any other country to negotiate with terrorists. we did not negotiate with japan after hiroshima and nagasaki. we sit unconditional surrender and release the 40000 americans you hold and that is what they did. but we would not be in this position here in january of 2025 if that is the position joe biden had taken in october of 2023. if we had simply backed israel to the hilt from the beginning of this war. providing israel the weapons it needed, when it needed them and in the quantities it needed them. and certainly not putting diplomatic and political pressure on israel to cut bad deals for the last 15 months.
12:26 am
and, in all these exit speeches and exit interviews, tony blinken has admitted that every time u.s. or international pressure was brought to bear on israel it cost hamas to walk away from the table or make a more unreasonable demands because they thought joe biden are european leaders t who put e pressure on prime minister netanyahu that hamas could not on the battlefield. the reason we are in this position where there is still almost 100 hostages left in gaza seven of whom are americans is because he joe biden has been a week failed president who has not backed israel. mark: very, very important point points you raise something about midnight i've had up the room sick and tired of the attacks on netanyahu from all corners the pressure that he has to give into the terrace that he has to give into the saudis that he has to do this, he has to do that.

long cease fire plan, but now that is all on hold, as you said. and after the prime minister held a security situation assessment overnight regarding the delay in receiving the list of the names of those captives, he gave this instruction to the idf, quote, the cease fire will not begin until israel has received the list of released hostages which hamas has committed to providing now. hamas, in a statement, blamed technical issues, saying this, quote, the hamas movement confirms its commitment to the terms of the ceasefire agreement and points out that the delay in the delivery of the names to be released in the first batch is due to technical field reasons, but despite the delay, palestinians were seen celebrating in the streets of southern gaza, including firing gunshots into the air as the clock struck that 8:30 a.m. local time for the cease fire to take effect, and also displaced palestinians were already making their way home or return to their homes. despite this delay as well. and

is that donald trump is living up to his promises. these are the people that america wanted in those positions. they have done great so far in the hearings. they ought to be applauding them. instead it's business as usual in the study we did in december with the networks, 96% negative coverage of these nominees of kelsey gabbard, of kash patel and pete hegseth. if you were to do a frank analysis of this you would have to say objectively nothing has changed with the national media they still despise this man. the only differences he got them in this election. drop the 31% the lowest in recorded history americas onto these people. they knew it they are trying to do to donald trump. i don't think they're going to get there.

is good for the first amendment because these people are propagandists and now we have more platforms than ever before were people are going to listen to find news, find information that is real. what you think about that? >> i think there's a lot of truth to that. when the left wing owners like jeff bezos owes tried to do something about that at the washington post, there is an uproar. don't you love it these people were in an uproar how dare jeff bezos owes state the "washington post" could not endorse a candidate. you know everyone who's ever voted for a candidate because of the washington post. [laughter] i mean the arrogance. when he sent that drips on these people. but here is where i worry. years ago i was having lunch with rush limbaugh. rush asked me was the ultimate goal and that is to succeed,

shutdown the organization and go out and get a real job. he laughed and said that you will never have a real job. and his point was the left wing is never going to stop. there's going to be a constant drip, drip, drip attack. people like you, folks like me have to always be on the watch for them and exposing them. what we have not talked about his social media. the one entity i think everyone should worry about is google. if you look at that google garbage tens of millions of people that do google searches every day. when you look at the google coverage of the same nominees on a given day there will be between 10 and 20 times as many left wing news sources as right wing sources that will be shown. so we do a search on them you are going to get a whole list of left-wing organizations attacking trump's nomination.

this is a drip, drip, drip we have to worry about that. when the about it in a big, big way. but by no means is this war over. i should add one more thing. the more difficult on them, the nastier they will be there not like the proverbial rat that's been cornered they're going to go to the jugular. look at their attacks they are personal, always personal once upon a time the adage was always professional, never personal. now it's always personal never professional. mark: zuckerberg is going to have to prove himself these uncertain things at a corporate level. it's gone tomorrow lago and so forth. you are right the algorithms are pretty much the same people tell me when the google my name, which i never do it when they google minute there's articles are seven years old, eight years old accusations and everything else until he can get to whatever it is they're looking for on me. i don't think that's going to change and i don't think that's going to change. but we will see.
