3:14 am
address. remember american carnage? the he talked about the problems when he took over in 2017. i get the sense this one's going to be a lot more optimistic, and he indicated that the nbc. ainsley: yeah. he said he's going the focus on unity, strength and fairness. steve: let's take a look. lawrence: this is what he says, because you have to be treating people fairly. you can't just say, oh, everything's going to be wonderful. you know, we went through hell for four years with these people and so, you know, something has to be done about it. you can't have that happen, and we shouldn't have that happen. brian: so he's going to mention lawfare. he's going to say no more retribution. and i think from here on in, the theme's got to be, okay, whatever happened, happened. america's got to get on the right fool. as a country, we've not to start thinking optimistically again. ainsley: eric trump was post on xs and part of what he posted, for the past ten years have been constant the fighting, countless rallies, tv appearances,
3:15 am
subpoenases, depositions and weeks in cold courtrooms. through endless attacks on my family, the company i run and employees i care for, we faced slander, fake news, home raids and countless games designed to break us. this time america won. lawrence: well, i think what's going to happen, there was a signal the last time, remember at the rallies back when he ran the first time, they were saying lock her up, referring to hillary clinton. and when donald trump got into office, he said, you know, let's put this in the past. she went through a lot, let's put this in the past. but one thing he didn't do was dismantle the system within government that targets the political opponent. so what i think is going to happen is when you get a pam bondi in there, the people that are going after people are going to get fired. the political people are going to get fired. you're going to have kash patel go after the people in the fbi that are partisan and that are not going after the real crime in this country. so he's not going to target his political opponents, but he is going to get rid of --
3:16 am
brian: he's got to clean it up, fire a lot of civil servants. lawrence: and he knows the people now, he knows how washington works, the key players. brian: we know tiktok's a huge story, but the other big story is what's happening in the middle east. steve: that's right. it's 6:15 on this sunday morning here in washington, d.c. and another fox news alert. the ceasefire agreement between israel and hamas is now officially in effect after a couple hour delay in the deal overnight. lawrence: three hostages are set to be released in just a few hours as the first part of the phase of the new deal is set to take place. brian: yeah. what the prime minister is saying is show me the names. don't tell me 33 names, i want to know who the first 3 are. trey yingst joins us live from tell astrive. give -- tel aviv. give us the latest. >> reporter: after 4700 days of war -- 470 days of war, the
3:17 am
second ceasefire agreement went into effect this morning. it was delayed about three hours after hamas if failed to provide that key list of names of which hostages would be released today, prompting the israeli military to launch a series of airstrikes across northern and central gaza. hamas has now released those names of three women who are all believed to be arrive, their names are romi, emily, a british-israeli who was taken, and daron. on a briefing last night, an israeli official said the women will be transferred first to the red cross and then to the idf. they'll be taken to one of three reception points along the border and transported to a local hospital. today we're getting striking images from inside gaza showing hamas gunmen parading through the streets in white pickup trucks, an indication the group is not defeated as some israeli officials have tried to explain. here in israel there is hope for the first time in so many months
3:18 am
as families are expected to be reunited later today with some of their loved ones who have been held since the october 7th massacre. guys? brian: so, trey, you mentioned those celebrations for the palestinians when seem to be hamas members in the streets. they killed -- they said they've killed between 17-20,000. if that a number's correct, what do they estimate is left of the hamas fighting force? >> reporter: interestingly, last week u.s. secretary of state antony blinken said a hamas if has been able to recruit just as many fighters as they lost during the conflict, an indication that as a result of this ongoing war, they've been able to find people inside gaza who are sympathetic to their cause and bring them under the military wing of hamas. and that's exactly what we saw today in these images, really striking images from large population centers like khan
3:19 am
unimis, the second largest city in gaza. they really send chills through the israeli people watching because you see those white pickup trucks, and you're reminded of that morning on october 7th, the very same pickup trucks that came into israel carrying these gunmen who committed the massacre amongst these communities along the border and, of course, military faces near to gaza. so it does raise real questions about the objectives for the israeli military. hay had two key goals, first, to get the hostages red.c.ked and the second, to destroy -- released, and the second the destroy hamas. the second is not feasible given the set of conditions inside gaza. steve: right. and, trey, you just mentioned the people of israel a moment ago. if you, if you looked at the public opinion polls in israel, and i don't know that any have been commissioned since this deal was essentially struck, but when you were reporting for us on friday when we were in new york, it sounded like a lot of people in in the only the
3:20 am
israeli government, but the rank and file people up and down the street didn't want this the happen because they want everybody out. they don't want it to be a piecemeal deal. >> reporter: yeah, absolutely. and just today the formal resignation of the country's national security minister went through. severely weakening israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu's ability to govern. it takes him very close to the majority number he needs in the israeli knesset, their version of parliament, in order the get things done and pass laws and make decisions here in israel. it's yet another indication that this deal has a variety of telephone -- opinions. when you ask israelis, certainly everyone wants the hostages to come home, but we understand nearly 2,000 palestinians that are currently sitting in israel hi jails, some of them cricketed of murder -- convicted of murder, will be released into the west bank. lawrence: so, trey, i know you were just telling brian about the amount of fighters that they've been able to recruit,
3:21 am
but i guess the big question is when it comes to the palestinian authority, if there was a vote to keep a hamas in control of the country, do you think they would win again? is there more support for the terrorist group after all of these deaths? >> reporter: yeah, absolutely. and without getting too far into the weeds, the palestinian people have two main parties they can pick from both in gaza and the west bank. you have the fatah party that is the palestinian authority that currently is in control of the west bank based out of ramallah, and then you have hamas, the group that's been in control of the gaza strip since 2006. and when you ask palestinians, man on the street interviews, getting a sense of how they feel about these two organizations, broadly they will say that fatah is a corrupt organization that works with the israelis and is stealing taxpayer a dollars from the palestinians and hamas is the only organization fighting on their behalf. they're not given a third option. and that is part of what both the israelis and americans are going to have to grapple with in the weeks, months and years
3:22 am
ahead. this is the reality on the ground. hamas has popular support in gaza and the west bank, and this idea of putting in a third party government to control gaza isn't going to be accepted. don't take my word for it, take the images out of gaza this morning. there are parades of hamas fighters wearing the flag, the green headband of the brigades. people in the streets are cheering. they are viewing this cease fiver as a victory -- ceasefire as a victory for the palestinian people. ainsley: trey, what about the next phase? when will more hostages be released? >> reporter: so today we'll see three israeli hostages released, again, one of them a dual national with the u.k. next weekend will be the next group, and it will either be three or four individuals released again prosecute i humanitarian -- from the humanitarian category, likely young women, possibly some of the female soldiers that were kidnapped on october 7th. but it's going to be a slow and grueling process for the israelis. we're looking at a 6-week
3:23 am
ceasefire, and each week there will be a small group of people released. the israelis won't know until they actually make their way to idf troops in gaza after being transferred to the less cross the -- the red cross, the conditions of these hostages. we do expect some bodies to be released, and part way through phase one of this deal they'll start negotiating the specifics of pause two. but i the can tell you being on the ground, speaking with officials as recently as last night, the israeli military is preparing for phase one to be the end of this ceasefire understanding that the prime minister prime minister himself wants to go back to war against hamas because they are not defeated inside gaza. brian: absolutely. they always have to have a presence there. they can never leave gaza to its own devices again. thanks so much, trey. the news is literally breaking while you're speaking, so thank you. let's talk about tiktok, if we can, because here's the quote from tiktok, the most popular app in the country. they could be off and just tell the app store no more selling
3:24 am
the app, but instead they want to totally go dark, and they have. of a law banning tiktok has been enacted in the u.s. unfortunately, that means you can't use tiktok for now. we are fortunate that president trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate tiktok once he takes office. please stay tuned, and the word is the president's going to give them 90 days. but is it 90 days to work it out with an american sale? because they've had a year to do this sale. steve: well, or he could issue, as donald trump is going to start doing tomorrow at noon, he could issue an executive order, or he could simply ask his attorney general not to enforce the ban. the reason it went dark for everybody, if you have tiktok, you look at it, what you'll see today is the last video you looked at. and the reason that a google and apple took it from their app stores is because they simply if did not want to risk a gigantic
3:25 am
fine. and you want to be on the right side of the law anyway, so it is impossible the use here in the united states today. lawrence: go ahead, ainsley. ainsley: it's gone dark, and donald trump did say he will most likely give the app a 90-day extension on monday once he is in office. but bytedance, they declined to sell it. and friday the supreme court ruled 9-0 that the ban was lawful, so now it's dark. stave -- steve: they passed it. lauren lawbs yesterday when i talk to the president-elect, he gave me information if on background that he wasn't prepared to release yet. he does have a framework in place. one of the things he kid say though, he's personally handling the negotiation when it comes to this. there is going to be a way for it to be legal, he's just not prepared to release it because he wants both parties to come to some sort of agreement. but i think everybody's going to be happy with the framework -- ainsley:st the really more about the security. lawrence: that's exactly right. i think that's going to be off
3:26 am
the table -- brian: but we have red note and this other lemon if site, both own toes -- they're going to do it again. you have to ban these. these are enemies of the state. they cannot have this type of power, that's it. and the supreme court has ruled you don't want to start an administration by thumbing your nose at the supreme court. lawrence: i just think that -- i agree with you, brian, and me and you have this debate often. i think the problem they're going the find themselves in is that many companies, because if you do business in china, you've got to turn the data over to. so the question is, are we going to have a statute for every single company company that is turning the data over to china? brian: a lot of them located in china with businesses here. steve: well, 1700 million americans are on it and 5 million businesses exist on tiktok. anyway, more on that throughout the day. we're live in washington, d.c. for the big inauguration.
