see this in our lifetimes again. that image about the wealth and creation, only in america could you find a way to get elon musk out of south africa and fire rockets in the air and have them land perfectly and reuse them again. that's american ingenuity and what trump talks about when he talks about the new golden age and more of that. ironically, there will be garbage trucks today at the parade at the arena across town. it will be something else. our coverage continues here on the fox news channel and with harris faulkner, who will join us momentarily in washington, d.c. that's bill and hillary clinton who now enter the room. dana, great to be with you. our coverage continues. >> harris: i'm harris faulkner

and this is a special edition of "the faulkner focus." donald trump will go from president-elect to the president for all americans. he is calling it a golden age. and jd vance will officially become the vice president as we watch more arrivals live on capitol hill. the swearing in of the 47th white house commander-in-chief is no doubt getting the attention of world leaders. his initial executive orders include sending our u.s. military to carry out its most precious mission directive, put americans first. secure our nation's southern border. on this january 20th a short time ago president joe biden greeted mr. and mrs. trump at the white house for tea, a tradition. also making history, and we see the former president barack obama arriving now at capitol hill. the indoor swearing in ceremony and those executive orders that americans will begin to see roll

out right there live on television is about to happen with barack obama arriving. i will toggle back and forth and tell you what is going on live. this day is making history despite the frigid landscape left by yesterday's winter storm. trump supporters are filling up the streets of washington to witness this historic day. a former minnesota news anchor i'm experiencing a lot of sunshine to couple those biting temperatures. trump's return to the white house, the first time in 132 years that a president will serve a non-consecutive second term. you might say we're living in a time of one of the biggest political comebacks in history. with me today ben domenech and spectator editor at large and molly hemingway fox news contributor and steve hilton is

here, fox news contributor. some of you are braving the cold with me along with the people lining up anyway. those voters putting trump back in the white house. your initial thoughts. >> people are here because they want to be here for this moment. almost unthinkable that eight years after his first election donald trump is back. this was very hard fought. you lawfare, attempts to bankrupt president trump. attempts to imprison him and to be at this moment really says a lot for these people. >> harris: you talk about people in the white house that will be obviously talking across the aisle with democrats. ben, there has been some push/pull with even in the republican party and just moments ago we could see live marjorie taylor greene who has gotten behind trump's nominees and done so much to support him now. a bit farther left of politics than many in the political party of republican but it is amazing how they've come together and now we go forth with the country

seeing that. >> a much more unified republican party than the one he showed up to see in 2017. you had a leadership shocked at his win and was not sure what to think of him. many of whom worked at odds with his agenda. this time around he has a much more unified leadership of the republican party but four years ago we saw joe biden get all of his cabinet nominees approved without any defections among his democrat cohort on the senate side. there are still questions about republicans in the senate and whether they'll come around on some of the nominees and one of the critical elements of what today is really about. projecting a unified front and making clear that the american people voted for this. this is something that they wanted to happen. you have the first commanding win that you've seen in a very long time for the republican party. for those on the outskirts they better get in line.

8:07 am
put in his way right from the beginning have been overcome with this incredible strength of leadership and now look at this. it is something else to watch this. the other phrase is a phrase we heard from one of the crowd lining up to join the rally yesterday at capital one arena from one of our reporters. this lady traveled from across the country to come here standing in the cold and rain for hours and she said something very profound. she said i want god to keep him safe and i want god to keep his warriors safe. that's what i'm thinking as i see the team that he has put together and all of it comes together in this fierce patriotism and why everyone you hear this phrase all the time now. america is back because we have a leader now who is so proud of this country, knows he can make it great. has got the plans to make it great and the team to make it great. it is that strength and patriotism that is really overwhelming.

>> harris: steve, you mentioned those who worry about the incoming president, family members, so on and so forth. we're watching just shortly his children come in. i mentioned lara trump has walked in already. as we see other members of the trump family, we'll draw your attention to it. i want to talk about the push/pull now with democrats. we've already heard that incoming the minute he stars to sign sending the military to the border, for instance, there is going to be a legal judiciary push against doge, the department of energy efficiency immediately. >> one of the things i think you will actually see is the democrats willing to work with president trump and those who are going to just take on the old resistance mantra. we see that when it comes to democrats on the state level talking about defending sanctuary cities and the likes of policies. the american people have

masterful job with the campaign. different impression about this administration. the first time trump didn't know what he was getting into. had a lot of resistance in d.c. people are now saying we want no more of that. we want things to get done. what you are seeing a shift today is from an administration full of lack of transparency and lack of accountability and people are saying we want to trust our government again and for that we do need honesty, we need accountability. that was made a little more difficult with some of the pardons that were released today for the crimes against america committed by various people but americans want to believe in this government again. >> harris: you bring up a good point. what is your thought, steve hilton, on the pardon for anthony fauci? there we were in the middle of a covid meltdown as a country with debts and so much sickness. he had us wearing masks that we now know and may have known then did not work against this virus. cloth masks and why surgeons
