white house biographies, the clintons, bush, obama and they are all smart enough to know that today was not just a repudiation of joe biden and kamala harris. it was a crushing defeat for all of their world views the occasional flashes of bitterness and disbelief you can't really blame them, i guess. on their faces it was all very visceral. biden himself seemed befuddled. i was up close watching it. but to all of them trump's comeback it wasn't historic, it was an enraging indictment of the american voter who they think isn't sophisticated enough to understand how dangerous trump is and, of course, it wouldn't be a trump speech without his reminding us of just how badly they screwed it up. they screwed the country up. that's why he is here after all. so, a politicized doj, open borders, inflationary spending, more war. >> my recent election is a mandate to completely and totally reverse a horrible

button is back. it's governing time. and governing we know is not easy. especially with such a slim majority. but, trump got going today with a flurry of executive orders ranging from immigration to limiting regulations, pulling some of them back. he even did the signings in public which i love. no more behind closed doors nonsense. in all of my political commentary years and it's been like almost three decades, this right now is exciting. >> this is the best chance to all of us have had in decades to put the interest of the american people, the average american first. last time in office, remember, donald trump sitting in that beast of a car he was derailed by lawfare, impeachment and covid, but now is a new day. and the democrats have been completely discredited and disgraced by the last round of pardons from biden. oh boy we are going to get into more on that later. so tonight as we are watching

president trump go back to the white house, quick change of clothes, before he comes here to the liberty ball, we urge the republicans and the house and senate, you got the majority, most of whom are there because of president trump's popularity, to support his efforts to reform the government and move this country in a common sense direction. if republicans fight trump, if they resist his agenda on immigration or spending cuts, trade, foreign policy, this celebration tonight it won't seem as historic in hindsight. it will just seem like another opportunity wasted in washington. but, if republicans take this whole day and whole night they help push trump through its agenda to help push it through regardless of the lawsuits and left wing attacks, this can really be, i'm telling you, a new golden age for america there he goes and that's the angle. joining me now katie pavlich,

two big things from capitol hill tonight. the first cabinet secretary of president trump's cabinet has been confirmed. the former senator now, marco rubio, republican of florida, he was confirmed 99-0. he voted for himself, which is very rare to have a senator who is up for a cabinet position to do that. but the vote was 99-0. he indicates that he will, in fact, be sworn in tomorrow. the other big news here from capitol hill is that they have now passed the laken riley act in the senate. the vote there was 64-35. it requires automatic detention for illegal immigrants who are arrested for shoplifting or other minor crimes. that was significant because it had reasonably broad democratic support. there were 12 democrats who voted for this bill and the 2026 midterms are already out in full force nrsc national elected to senate. put out a statement criticizing

jon ossoff. the democratic senator from georgia who is up in 2026 for not voting in favor of this. this bill, the laken riley act, that will be the first piece piece of legislation to go to the new president to sign into law. it's not ready just yesterday yet. the reason is they have to move it back through the house of representatives. changes in the piece of legislation, it was also an original senate document so they have to bounce it back parliamentary ping-pong to the house of representatives. the house should approve that on wednesday. and then it's ready to go to the president for his signature. the other thing that we are looking at here is when they will try to move some of these other nominees for president trump, voted out of committee tonight, the armed services committee. was pete hegseth. he is up for deference secretary. he is probably going to be confirmed in the coming days, not right away because democrats want to slow that down a little bit he should be able to have the votes. keep in mind have full power which senate republicans are not at right now because they have
