national emergency at the southern border of the united states. >> president trump: that's a big one. a lot of big ones, huh? >> bill: indeed. team fox coverage continues. brooke taylor and how the president is cracking down on the border matter. chad pergram how congressional republicans are working to implement with agenda. let's go to brooke on the ground in texas. >> hi, you just heard the president say that he is declaring a national emergency here at the southern border. what that means is he will be able to deploy the military and national guard. now, throughout his campaigning he has spoken about victims like laken rile', 12-year-old jocelyn nungaray, a young girl from houston who police say was sexually assaulted and murdered by two illegals from venezuela who crossed the border. he has made it clear day one his priority protecting innocent people, our children from criminals who shouldn't be in the united states to begin with. that means securing our border. we want to show you this video

just hours after he became president. we already saw the effects. migrants in mexico who had the cbp one app appointment seemed emotional learning their appointments were canceled. president trump ending the program that alouded more than 900,000 migrants into the u.s. by giving them this basically legal fast pass right off the bat. he also reinstated the remain in mexico policy. that requires migrants seeking asylum to stay in mexico until they their immigration hearings. here in el paso immigration top of mind for people. we spoke to who live just minutes from the border. >> i believe in immigration when it is done the right way. just letting everybody run over and come across, it's not right. >> people come here illegally they are breaking the law. and that's one of the things

that i do not like is people to break the law. >> as we said off of the top of the show, that president trump also ordered these cartels to be labeled as terrorist organizations. that is also going to give authorities more tools to be able to fight back against these cartels. i can tell you here in el paso, the extreme measures that they've taken to smuggle in drugs and humans. earlier this month we saw border patrol found a massive tunnel they were using that authorities say it took about a year for them to build. >> bill: about this time four years ago when the border story became something. it changed then and changing again. thank you, brooke, good to have you there in el paso as that story unfolds. >> dana: president trump back in the oval office it is go time for republicans on capitol hill now tasked with delivering on their promise to advance trump's agenda. not going to be easy but they are determined to get it done. chad pergram is live on the

majority if it wouldn't have been for the president. >> the tight margins means the gop may need help from democrats on avoiding a government shutdown and raising the debt ceiling. however, democrats could find common ground on border security. >> while president trump and i often disagree, i stand ready to work with him and anyone regardless of party to advance the nation's well-being. the american people want us to work together to make their lives better. democrats are ready to do just that. >> now 12 senate democrats including moderates from swing states like georgia's osthoff and peters supported the laken riley act. democrats are vulnerable on the border. guys, back to you. >> dana: no doubt about that. john barrasso is with us. great to have you with us this morning. i want to show you a little bit of something here. president trump had a very historic first day by the

numbers. 46 executive orders, memoranda a and -- he had quite a day. now the legislative piece of this starts. how do you try to begin to tackle that challenge? >> first president trump is off to a very strong and very fast start. i thought that the speech yesterday was so uplifting, outstanding, optimistic. what we want to hear as americans. the golden age of america begins right now. that's what people wanted to hear and what people, dana, in wyoming were looking for and hearing from them throughout the day. the executive orders were critical. on energy, on the environment -- on the economy, on the border, all of those things are so, so critical for our country for the safety and prosperity of

america. last night we were able to confirm marco rubio and then pass bipartisan legislation. the laken riley act about a young 22-year-old nursing student out for a jog murdered by an illegal immigrant. so yeah, the work continues today. we will be meeting, i am along with senate and house leadership with the president at the oval office. my job from the president is to get that cabinet confirmed as the majority whip in the senate. get those people in place. that's what he has asked me and all of us to get done. i'm sure the president is going to talk about the agenda for getting america back on track. that's what the american people voted for and what they want. >> bill: you mentioned the laken r riley act was passed last night. it is the law of the land once the president signs it at the white house. part of this law, senator, mandates the federal detention of immigrants without legal

status accused of theft and burglary, among other things. what does that do to sanctuary city laws in america? does that supersede that? do they collide? what happens there? >> we'll see how people live in those sanctuary cities, how they behave in terms of the legal actions by the police officers. because that's what happened in the case of laken riley. her murderer was in the country illegally and he was a criminal. he had been accused and found having shoplifting, other crimes against individuals. 87% of americans say people like that, people who are in the country illegally who are criminals need to be deported. that's what the american people want. so if you have some woke liberal leadership in a sanctuary city acting otherwise, it is time for them to lose elections the next time they're at the ballot box.

happens for him. you are a lawyer, can he legally do this? >> well, we'll find out, right? the courts will ultimately decide many of these issues. let me tell you this. who was ecstatic about president trump's actions, my 14-year-old. dad, trump just saved tiktok. all of his friends reacting the same way and given how well trump did with 18 to 29-year-old young men, i think he is probably burnishing his streak red with a lot of young women active on tiktok in general. to me this is an easy solution that needs to be worked out in details but let me give you my solution. we can't allow china to own a media company just like we wouldn't allow china to own the "wall street journal" or "the new york times." i know it's a chinese-based entity. we would not allow them to do that. i look at tiktok as a media company. to me the american assets have to in some way be owned and

controlled by majority control by an american corporation. so long as that happens i think tiktok going forward makes a lot of sense. to me that's the resolution that trump is likely looking for by forestalling the ban with his executive order that he put in place yesterday. it's smart and probably endearing himself to a lot of people and it seems like the solution. >> bill: two pieces of sound for you. this is when he was asked about tiktok last night. watch. >> president trump, you and your members of your team now used to warn about the dangers of tiktok spying on americans. what changed that you aren't worried about that anymore? >> president trump: it depends on the deal. if i don't do the deal it's worth nothing. if i do the deal for the united states, then i think we should get half. in other words, the u.s. entitled to be able to get half of tiktok. >> bill: we'll see in time if that's the resolution. i want to play another piece of

it was because he said exactly what he was going to do. if you are an american, democrat, republican, white, black, asian, hispanic. you want an executive who talks to you hon evidently. a press conference at four today. think about this. i think donald trump has answered more unscripted questions from the media since he took the oath of office yesterday at noon than joe biden did in the entire last year. he is telling you exactly what he is going to do. he has laid it out for the american people and i was at those balls last night. you can tell, until after midnight. trump didn't come out at the second of the three balls he was going to go to until nearly midnight, bill. he took the mic and spoke for 15 more minutes there. i mean, this guy has energy unlike frankly we have seen from a president maybe ever in our lifetimes. but to be doing what he is doing hit the ground running.

stage. before i begin, i would like to personally recognize my family. we all know in public office that we would not have the opportunity to serve were it not for support of our loved ones. i would like to begin with my mom, dad and brother, melanie, ken and maddy. my dad was here with me today and my mom and brother are watching closely from upstate new york. there is no question i would not be here without their lifetime of unconditional love, support and encouragement and for that i am forever grateful. i also want to thank my supportive husband, matt, also here. and most importantly our pride and joy our 3-year-old son sam who made his debut in the u.s. senate. comfortable on the house side, new on the senate. sam is by far our greatest blessing. of all the titles i've held congresswoman, representative or ambassador if confirmed my most important title will always be mom. i appear before you today as a daughter, sister, wife, mother,

congresswoman, patriotic upstate new yorker and a proud american. i believe deeply in the american dream because i have had the opportunity to live it. i was born and raised in upstate new york. the cradle of the american revolution. i grew up in a small business family where my parents instilled in me the important of hard work, ingenuity and grit. the first member to graduate from college. i graduated from harvard with honors and worked at the white house in the west wing on the domestic policy counsel and in the chief of staff's office. after nearly a decade working in public policy in washington i returned who emotion to work in my family's small business and decided to run for congress. in 2014, i was elected to congress making history as the youngest woman ever elected at the time. in congress i have fought tirelessly for the hard working families of new york delivering

bipartisan results. i elected to serve as the house republican conference chair becoming the highest ranking woman in congress at the time and the youngest woman of either party to serve in house leadership. i've served on several committees and proud to be the longest serving woman on both the armed services and intelligence committees. on these national security committees i've legislated on a number of critical issues ranging from military readiness, emerging technologies, and cybersecurity to missile defense. i have worked to enhance american intelligence capabilities, strengthen our alliances and partnerships and deter our adversaries. on the education committee i have been the leader in combating anti-semitism in higher education. my oversight work led to the most viewed testimony in history of congress. this hearing with university presidents was heard around the

world and viewed billions of times because it exposed the anti-semitic rot in colleges and universities and a watershed moment in american higher education. when discussing this nomination with president trump, the president shared with me that he sees great promise in the united nations if it focuses on its founding mission of international peace and security. president trump has long advocated for peace and no new wars. he delivered the abraham accords, the largest step to regional peace in the middle east in a quarter century. if confirmed i will work to insure our mission to the united nations serves the interest of the american people and represents president trump's america first peace through strength foreign policy. as the world faces crisis after crisis with hostages including americans still held in hamas captivity to national security challenges ranging from china, russia, north korea and iran, it has never been more critical for

the united states to lead with strength and more all clarity. this is especially important regarding our ally israel who faced the bloodiest day for the jewish people since the holocaust since october 7th, 2023. i also understand deeply we must be good stewards of u.s. taxpayer dollars. the u.s. is the the largest contributor to the u.n. by far. our tax dollars should not be complicit in propping up entities that are counter to american interests, anti-semitic or engaging in fraud, corruption or terrorism. we must invest in programs to strengthen our national security and deliver results. to increase the efficacy of u.n. programs we must drive reform. if confirmed i will be the first u.n. ambassador no two decades to come directly from congress and deep respect and understanding of the oversight and appropriations role of the legislative branch and look forward to using my strong house and senate relationships to

deliver these much-needed reforms. we're at a critical point in history. the world must be reminded of the key missions of the united nations and cam as its leader. the world was desperate for peace, stability, human rights and dignity and order after world war ii. as outlined the purpose of the united nations is to maintain international peace and security, develop friendly relations among nations based on the shared respect for the principle of equal rights. solve international problems and h harmonize nations. the u.n. hasn't lived up to it and we need to ask better. i share president trump's vision of a u.n. reform and return to this founding mission of promoting peace and security around the world. in closing, i will forever be

>> this is an order creating and implementing the department of governmental efficiency known as doge. >> president trump: that's a big one. >> bill: a big one. stroke of the pen president trump creating the department of government efficiency. elon musk reaction shortly after signing in. the legal challenges began immediately. the lawsuit to the side what they are trying to do won't be easy. hillary vaughn live on the hill to take us through that one. nice to see you, good morning to you. hello. >> good morning to you, bill. the flurry of lawsuits were filed before president trump signed that executive order making the department of government he i shall fen see officially part of the executive branch and that executive order that could be the nail in the coffin for these lawsuits because the people suing kind of jumped the gun. the lawsuits are based on the

idea that doge would be an outside advisory committee and subject to federal rules governing advise recommittees. now it's an official part of the federal government the lawsuits are probably a big swing and miss for the doge critics. one of the lawsuits complained not a single member of doge is a federal employee or represents the perspective of federal employees. in the beginning that was kind of the point. trump handpicked an outsider, musk, to cut through the layers of fat built up in bloated government bureaucracy. >> will musk get a which is wing office. >> president trump: he is getting an office for 20 people that we are hiring to make sure these get implemented. >> doge will also have a federal workers in every agency assisting in the mission. trump's e.o. directs agencies to establish their own doge team with four employees. doge is already celebrating a w with the shuttering of government dei offices as trump

calls for a return to merit-based hiring and also a shake-up happening there. co-founder ramaswamy stepping down from doge to possibly run for elected office. sources say he is expected to announce a run for ohio governor as soon as as early next week. >> bill: nice to see you on the hill. more to come. thank you. now this. >> president trump: the inflation crisis was caused by massive overspending and escalating energy prices. that is why today the i'll also declare a national energy emergency. we will drill, baby, drill. america will be a manufacturing nation once again and we have something that no other manufacturing nation will ever have, the largest amount of oil and gas of any country on earth. >> dana: president trump declaring a national emergency on energy in a move designed to increase production of fossil fuels. mike summers is the president of the american petroleum institute.

a few things happening here. one is what is the practical effect of this. you had the biden team on their way out saying what is everyone complaining about. we have never been producing more oil than we are today. >> american energy was on the ballot and american energy won. president trump just yesterday delivered on his promise to return us to energy dominance. these executive orders will exactly what the doctor ordered. we need more energy in this country to supply the needs of the american people which are only growing. as we see new data center being built out. we need more and more energy in this country. what president trump did yesterday is exactly what america needs right now. >> dana: what is the practical effect of that and how do you respond to the biden people like why is everyone saying that we weren't drilling because they claim that they were. >> well, what the biden administration did was everywhere they could restrict energy development, they did. on federal lands, federal

waters, just a week ago they took off 625 million acres off line for american energy development. fortunately president trump just yesterday reversed that order. they tried to restrict government on our waters and in our lands and what we will be able to do now is deliver on that promise of american energy dominance thanks to these executive orders that were implemented yesterday. >> dana: the industry looks fo certainty. more from president trump in the oval office last night. >> president trump: the biggest factor for inflation is energy. they screwed up my energy policy and went back to it. they hurt it really badly and then they went back to it and started drilling more. by that time it was too late. we'll make a lot of money from energy. we'll make a lot of money from energy. >> dana: that's true for the federal coffers. do you see some relief for consumers when it comes to new energy policies in the form of bringing down inflation and the

cost of things like energy, of course, but also food? >> energy is in everything. oil and gas is in almost everything that you use every single day from the makeup you use to the clothes that you wear to the microphones that are on our lapels. we will need more energy and oil and gas into the future. opening up the resources on and off shore and allowing the regulatory regime to be cut back as well. another key focus of the executive orders, will be key to our energy future. we all know we'll need a lot more. it is about more supply in the united states about cutting costs. >> dana: governor newsom said about trump withdrawing from the climate agreement. if you don't believe why science believe your own damn eyes talking about the wildfires. >> the truth of the matter is the united states leads the world in oil and gas production but it also leads the world in
